Since I came to LA, I haven't had a chance to experience ktown drinking scene. Finally I was able to go due to work shift ending early and was looking through places to party with slave girl and my drunk crew. We found out go pocha has happy hour from 2 to 8pm everyday (sadly happy hour rate doesn't apply to combo and speciality). Let's go! We got there around 3:45 and valet was not set up yet with plenty of spaces available. SCORE for not paying someone to park my car right in front of the restaurant. Once inside, I was very impressed with the interior. They tried hard to make customers feel like sitting outside with a tree in the middle of the restaurant. The tree was decorated with fake bills and I really like the setting. There was only one staff working and he had no problem having us seat first while waiting for the rest of my drunk crew to show up. It was a shame to see the service dropped some with a full house towarding to the end of the night. For the most part it was pretty good. We ordered cheese corn, seaweed riceball, seafood pancake, wings, chicken gizzard, and military stew. Pro tip: they clean the fryer every Friday so no frying items (like wings) until after 6 pm on Fridays. Before we got our food, we also got a free sizzling egg made at the table. The taste was average but the thought of doing it was just awesome. All the food were tasty and they were perfect as drinking dishes. What really stood out was the gizzard. The gizzard I usually get are deep fried and the flavor rely heavily on the breading. The gizzard here was sautéed with garlic and pepper, so no matter how I ate it, every bite was consistently flavored. Overall I really enjoyed the food, the service, and the happy hour price. I think this is my new favorite Korean bar in Ktown...Happy Hour is amazing, especially since everything is 50% off! A good portion of the employees speak English as well, so there is no more need for a mandatory token Korean (or my own broken one). Our server was very informative, and gave us little interesting facts about the establishment, as well as explained their yummy omelette/egg appetizer (was he the owner??) He also told us when we ordered too much (we are piggies though...who knows). Anyway, we got: Soondae: Not many Korean bars give passable soondae, but for a joint that isn't specifically a soondae house, this is actually pretty good! Large serving too, so all soondae lovers rejoice! Cheese corn: Super cheesy and STRINGY!!! Absolutely love it! I know most establishments use canned corn, but this corn wasn't soggy and tasted nice and sweet. This is an absolute MUST get! Daeji Kalbijjim: I thought there was a spicy one and non-spicy one (I ordered non-spicy), but my poor spice-sensitive bf absolutely died on this...so maybe there is only the spicy one? It packs quite the heat, and though I was fine, this is definitely not for those without strong stomachs. Flavor is good though, and pork falls right off the bone. I loved the yummy glass noodles at the bottom of the bowl as well. Haemul pajeon: Also a delicious dish to get! I personally like this seafood pancake more than any other Korean bar establishment, as it is nice and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside with a good ratio of seafood to batter. Extra props for what I think was oyster inside! Alcohol is a given--pretty standard in terms of brands and types, so I won't go over that. I really wish I got our fifth dish, which was the jokbal salad--pig feet salad...it looked really yummy, but I suppose we can save that for next time. I also want to try their chicken wings! The atmosphere itself is of a typical Korean bar (but cleaner!!!) with pretty lights, a money tree (!!), and writings all over the benches. It's a great experience for those new to the KTown scene, and a great place to relax and enjoy for those who just want to hang out and eat good food. There's only one other Korean bar I would ever consider going to aside from here, and it's all the way in Vegas. I will definitely be back soon! read more

We ordered all the things from fries to budae jiggae (army soup, aka spicy red soup with all kinds of shit men put into a big pot including ramen, rice cakes, spam, kimchee) to ton dak (whole chicken), lak bokki (rice cakes with fish cake and ramen in a spicy red paste flavor). Happy hour until 9:00pm where everything is 50% off with purchase of alcoholic beverages. First off, if you don't speak or read Korean, let them know and they will give you the English menu. I only went there because I was meeting some friends there. I was there on a Saturday night. It was a very young crowd and I was clearly out of place age-wise . Nobody over 25 was in there. A friend said at different times of day, it has different crowds. Also, it's in the heart of Korea Town, so if you don't speak Korean or have someone with you who does, you might have a hard time ordering food and drink here. Luckily, we had that part well covered with my friends. I thought it was a cool place...kinda' funky divey feel but in a good way. There are tree bare trees as part of the decor. My friends said it's "very Korean." Whatever it is, I love it. We just had appetizers, and they were delicious. I didn't do the ordering, but as you can see from the pic, they were enjoyed by all. The barley house tea was really good too. Loved the tin pot and tin cups they use. Should have taken of pic of that. Sorry. Service was good and staff was cheerful. I saw all kinds of good looking food at other people's tables on my way out..especially some kind of ice watermelon dish that I would have ordered for myself had I seen it earlier. Staff is always friendly and I love some of the things they have on the menu other Korean spots might not have like the spicy chicken feet and bible tripe salad. They do something here that makes them unique also... As an appetizer on the house, they bring you a sizzling cast iron plate and cook you scrambled eggs right right at the table! The aroma of freshly scrambled eggs immediately sparks an appetite for the late night eats ahead. We always order the Mentaiko Pasta and quesadilla there. The interior is snazzily decored to feel a little like you're outside with small booth like tables. Waiters were very attentive (particularly to taking away tissues and giving you more.. lol.) You get free hot plate egg scrambled that they cook right in front of you on a cast iron plate as a started. Drinks are decent prices. They have a number of flavours Soju options like pineapple, grapefruit, peach, apple, etc. Also have maekgolli and beer. For food we ordered the rabbokki (Ramen and tteokbokki), fried chicken wings and corn cheese. All the food was good, I quite liked the rabbokki. The sauce with for the fried chicken came in a separate bowl for you to dip but I preferred the rabbokki sauce more. And the corn cheese was a good serving size and tasty with a good cheese pull. In general food is pretty good for a more bar pocha style place for drinking. We were also offered a free service plate off the menu and we chose the popcorn chicken. This is a great dish for picking at as your drinking. Solid serving size tohighly recommend for a good night of drinks and snacks chatting with friends. I came here with a friend after hearing a lot about this place. Had a few issues here. Here is the breakdown: SERVICE- no star I came during the happy hour time and they have their daily promotion which is great. It went until 8pm. I got there at 7:50 and the waiter came to my table only at 8:02 after calling for one for a couple of the times. I was asking for the happy hour special and she said I missed by 2 minutes so they couldn't accommodate me. Also, the service was very slow. We had two waiters for the night. The First Lady was not the most friendly. The gentlemen that helps us toward the second half of our dinner was friendly and helpful. FOOD- half star The popcorn chicken was good. The surf and Turf it was disappointing to say the least especially as it was highly recommended by the waiter. Even the fried rice that they make at the end wasn't as nice. DECOR/ AMBIANCE- one star They have a nice bar eatery feel to it. Loved the atmosphere and the music choices. Very pleasant location. CHECK. these were basically spicy rice cakes with ramen and one hard-boiled egg. I liked this the best out of everything we ordered. Just make sure you can handle the HEAT! (or get out of the kitchen.) CHEESE CORN - just one of those foods appropriate for those drunken nights in my opinion. nothing special. FRIED CHICKEN WINGS - tastes okay with the sauce. Such a fun environment here! It is upbeat and loud ( in a good way). I came here for dinner and drinks with friends on a Friday night and it was perfect for that. The first thing I will say about this place is that they give you an egg on a hot stone cooked in front of you (complimentary) and it is seriously amazing. I don't know what they do to that egg but flavor wise, I've never had a better tasting egg. This place is great for sharing things with friends. We got the kimchi fried rice which comes with cheese, the cheese corn, and the popcorn chicken. The kimchi fried rice is very spicy but in a good way. Although difficult to pick, the kimchi fried rice was my favorite dish of the night. We loved all of them. We ended with the watermelon as our dessert. Oh man I forgot how much I love this place. It's a must in ktown. We did a birthday party for 20 which is not the easiest to pull off in a non-noraebang joint in ktown. They let us make a reservation, and it was pretty chill at 8. (I think food is half off before 8pm?) I love the money tree inside and the decor. The old school pocha style plus the colorful card tiles make it fun. We had a great area for our party. Not too crammed. Dodgers were playing and the kpop tunes were bangin. We had plenty of water, food came out at a decent pace, soju and beer came out lightning fast. Food is really good - the hits were bulgogi, kimchi pancake, fried chicken, tteokbokki, tteok churro, and the bulgogi quesadilla. The servers also let us choose some stuff on the house. The owner was circulating and he became the crowd favorite. Parking is $3, the lot doesn't get full, and I like that this is a little off the beaten path. Came here last night for another L.A trip. Wow parking seems pack already but very thankful for the Vallet. Pretty nice place for a happy hour for sure, but since I have a headache my sis and I just stuck with having dinner and enjoying the ambiance of the restaurant. Really love that private feel of the booths very unique. For starters we had scrambled egg on a hot skillet complementary dish and it was wow. Not sure if salt was just added for taste but the egg was tasty, fluffy and really good. Ordered the Chicken wings with cabbage salad and Yep! Pigs feet that was cooked with some yummy spicy sauce highly recommend this one for sure! It was well cooked and the cartilage and skin just melts in your mouth. Added some fries just to brake that protein induced dinner lol. Everything was cooked and season well. And last but not least the service at this place was really awesome and let's say very attentive ;). I had my napkin taken about 6 times probably. Some are still in my hand lol & others barely used, but i guess they really liked having clean tables for customers while eating. So no complaints there. Came here recently for happy hour and what a treat it was. Great atmosphere with tvs, decorations around the place, pictures of people and music. Wasn't too crowded which was good. Ended up ordering two Hite, popcorn chicken and fries, steam egg, and this wrap with seaweed and noodles. No complaints whatsoever about the food as they were all well made and tasty. The service was also really good. Only thing was the food did up taking a while to arrive but not too bad when you're chatting and having a beer to kill some wait time. The bill came and was surprised at how good of a deal this place was. Definitely recommend coming here and I'll be back soon. There's parking on the street but beware of the street parking right out front of the plaza. There looks to be a spot but a small part of it is painted red.
