I gotta be honest. I LOVE Gocha's when I dine in. Staff is always helpful, and the food is always great. The to go order - not so much. I ordered 3 tacos tonight - 2 shrimp and 1 salmon. As you can see in the photo, there are 3 shells. Only 2 have food dropped on them. I ordered online at 9:38 pm. I picked up around 10:15. Food was cold. The confirmation email does not tell you what time the order will be ready. There is a pickup time in the email, but it shows the same time the order was placed (i.e. 9:38). My recommendation for Gocha's is to find a way to replicate your dine in experience for to go orders or stop offering to go. This is the second time I ordered to go this week. The first wasn't great. Gocha's has some of the best food on the south side. Tapas and breakfast bar always hit. The service is also good and the vibe is cool. Tapas has indoor and outdoor seating but I've only sat indoors. The salmon tacos are good and so are the wings. read more

Back again and this time sat at the bar. Great service. Kezzi did her thing again with the traditional margarita. For food ... started with the spinach dip and crab claws. Loved the spinach dip and the sauce for the crab claws (the actual claws were just a tad too fishy for me). My meal had the blackened salmon and grits. So good. It's nice to have Gocha's less than five minutes from my house. Upon entering the lighting was low, the music was playing at a good volume -- it sort of felt like a fancy club. Since it was still day light, my Wife and I choose to sit outdoors. We were escorted to our table, walked across what appeared to be an artificial turf (not sure how I feel about that - a sports theme?). Out on the patio we set spaciously among a few couples dining, chatting it up, and some sucking on hookahs. Once seated the waitress "explained" the menu - to my disbelief this is a necessity because many patrons miss the word "tapas (small dishes)" in their namesake. If you're really hungry you need to go across the parking lot to the Popeyes (the line is around the block - damn). So if you're patronizing GTB, know that it's about a classy mood, little bites, and drinking to your desire. For about $75, we had 2-3 tapas each, stop right their... if you still living with Moma'em, not on a special, special date, maybe you shouldn't be here often (this is not the several times a week turn-up joint - unless you want to be like Jaden - broke!). The tapas selection was delectable, the standouts among them were the Shrimpin' Ain't Easy, battered and seasoned to perfection - so good you wish it wasn't tapas - damn, damn, damn! A close second was Honey, I Shrunk The Brussel Sprouts, I need the Chef to do a house call on this one - it was extra charred with I think a sprinkle of sea salted. Third, not, don't get the potatoes in any form. Once you see the final bill, the $10 plus bucks for potatoes just gonna make you say the forbidden word - tapas! The third pillar of this experience, the drinks, went off the rail for us. My Wife ordered a weird tasting Mojito. Even though I wasn't drinking I test tasted it, it tasted like soap to me. Some unnecessary context here, since traveling to Cuba I think I'm a connoisseurs of this drink. Naturally we asked for a replacement, upon returning the waitress said "the bartender said he fixed it right, and it can't be replaced (I have to check the "Our People" dreaded restaurant rules list - conveniently available above the dinner menu)." To keep things cool, my Wife ordered some wine and I took the Mojito. As a concession, the waitress offered and returned with a large shot of rum so I could revive the Mojito. I added about half of it and sipped on it once or twice -- it still was only fair - good enough to make me feel a little better about wasting my money. The waitress, who was great with serving our food, was so, so when it came to our drinks. The next time she checked on us, she commented "you didn't drink all the rum, you better drink all of that!" She kept on going about it, appearing in disbelief that I didn't want anymore. Her press upon me about the drink, made me feel like she felt our original complaint was about getting a free drink. Consequently, the wine wasn't good either. Needless to say, I would only suggest GTB (I'm up for a second try soon) if you want a culinary experience wrapped in a lounge feel, not very hungry, and had drank some hennie first in the car. read more

I visited the Gochas Tapas Bar on a Wednesday evening with my girlfriend. The service was good. We were seated outside on the patio and besides the music being a bit too loud for our tastes, it was a good atmosphere. We had drinks and several dishes which brought our bill to over $200. One of the last items we ordered was toast and Bruchetta (chopped tomatoes and such) and I didn't like it. I brought it to the waitresses' attention and was informed that unless there was a mistake on their part - they wouldn't remove the item from the bill. It was toast and tomato for $12. If it were a steak - I'd understand. Now understand this: that's the last $200+ for tapas and drinks I'll spend there. read more

One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. My wife and I were celebrating the start of our anniversary weekend and initially loved the atmosphere. Before placing our order, we clearly explained our dietary restrictions, no dairy or gluten. The waitress wrote them down, but we weren't warned that the salad contained cheese or that most of the sauces were dairy-based. If we hadn't asked, it could have ruined our entire weekend. When my wife's meal arrived, it came out one item at a time, with an average of five minutes between each dish. Even after we spoke to the manager, the service didn't improve our remaining items were still delayed. The waitress seemed visibly irritated that we had escalated the issue, and from that point on, our service declined even further. In the end, despite the poor service and disappointing food, we still paid our $132 bill and left, vowing never to return. read more
