We arrived at 5:30 pm on a Saturday, the place was empty so the waitstaff was very prompt with taking our drink order and gave us a little time to review the menu. The place was spacious, it really had a cozy old Korean restaurant feel. We ordered the Galbi Entree & soon tofu (mushroom) combo with the spicy pork belly & we couldn't have come here without trying the sweet & spicy chicken. The chicken was too big for us so we opted to get the chicken wings instead. The food came out quick and the meat and soup came out sizzling and hot which was great! Our meal came with 6 different side dishes (banchan) and white rice. I don't know if it was the mushrooms in the soon tofu soup but I thought it had a slight smelly socks smell. Everything else was so tasty and delicious! The portions were also fairly big with the galbi being very meaty. Next time I'm not going to order mushrooms in my soon tofu soup to see if the smell was that but otherwise when we are back on this side of town, we will definitely stop back!

Always a pleasure coming to Gogi. The service was quick and friendly. In the background, there were K-pop music videos playing, and as always the food is top-notch, which is why we always return here. We had so much leftover as well. The prices are great too!

Back: beef bulgogi bento, front: chicken katsu

There is no option to order online directly through Gogi (options through Doordash, etc), so I tried to call in a to-go order. The phone was answered, however, no one spoke.. I hung up and tried to call back, however the line was busy for several minutes. When I arrived in person to order, the waiter quickly took my order and informed me it would be 15-20 minutes. The dinner bento box is listed as $19.99 on their website, however, the price has gone up to $24.99. We ordered a beef bulgogi dinner bento box and a chicken katsu dinner bento box. It is a good amount of food (rice, protein, kimchi, 2 pieces of Korean Fried Chicken, 2 dumplings, potatoes, shrimp tempura, and seaweed) but I would recommend getting it for lunch instead at a cheaper price (don't remember how much exactly). Despite this, it was all very mediocre... The chicken katsu and KFC were incredibly dry, and the KFC was a lot of batter. No side of katsu sauce that it desperately needed. The beef bulgogi was definitely better. 2 stars for the chicken katsu, 3 stars for the bulgogi.

Favorite Korean place for a weekday dinner when we aren't in the mood to cook. We usually get takeout and sometimes will also dine in. Occasionally the call gets dropped when calling in an order as a fyi, and we've had to call back a few times. The portions are nice and our takeout orders have been consistent which we appreciate. We love getting the kimchi stew with pork belly and the spicy pork belly. We also rotate between the kimchi pancake and the seafood pancake. Definitely recommend the spicy pork belly there!

Arrived about 9:10pm. We were greeted and seated immediately. We partly selected this restaurant because it is open until 10pm on weekends. The restaurant was quiet with only a few people and pop music playing. We promptly ordered two Bimbibap bulgogi beef. Our food arrived about 10 minutes. Both dishes looked great and had good flavor although a little heavy on the salt is the reason for the drop to four stars. Recommend!

Gogi has been my go-to for Korean food for years. Service is quick, and the quality & taste of the food is consistent. The layout inside is open and welcoming with plenty of tables and booths. They start you out with 6 banchan (small side dishes) - my favorites are the fish cake, spicy cucumbers, and kimchi. For appetizers, I like the Kimchi Pancake and Calamari. For entrees, I like the Spicy Chicken Bulgogi - it's actually barely spicy, but you can ask for it to be extra spicy. It comes with a serving of white rice. However, I like to eat it with the Kimchi Fried Rice. It is so flavorful and comes topped with a fried egg. My family really likes the Spicy Squid & Pork Belly. It is packed full of flavor, and we like to drizzle the sauce over white rice. During winter, I also order the Soon Tofu Soup with kimchi (they have meat options as well). It comes out boiling hot and has a little spicy kick that warms me right up! They also drop a raw egg in it that's perfectly boiled by the time it gets to the table. You can choose the spice level - mild, medium, spicy, or very spicy. They offer bento box specials for both lunch and dinner. One thing I haven't tried is their Fried Chicken which comes in a few different flavors. Gogi has a second location in Ahwatukee, but I haven't been there yet. The Chandler one is located in the same plaza as Lee Lee Supermarket. There is some parking in front of the restaurant and around the corner, or a nearby lot between the restaurant and CVS.

I came here for dinner on a weeknight and wasn't disappointed. I ordered the spicy rice cake with ramen, the bulgogi bibimbap, and the sweet and spicy Korean fried chicken. My favorite dish was the spicy rice cake. The portion was huge! It had a good ratio of rice cake to veggie to ramen. Each bite was delicious. The Korean fried chicken was delicious as well. I wish they had a boneless option but it was delicious nonetheless. Overall the food was good and the service was nice.

Great food at fair price. Good size portions. Clean, seating inside and out. Order at the counter, you are called when order is ready. Staff is friendly. Reasonably quick service. Delicious food.

Gogi is the type of spot you need to scratch that itch for korean comfort foods. The portions for most of the menu is huge so definitely bring friends or be ready to have leftovers. The vibe in Gogi is more casual, playing KPop music videos, and not too loud. The staff is polite but not in your face about it. The spicy rice cake with ramen and dumplings is around 27$ give or take which was plenty of food for 2 people. Overall, Gogi is a nice cozy spot for getting korean classics like Korean Fried Chicken or Kimchi Rice as well!

I live near the Ahwatukee location of Gogi and love their food, so this was my first time visiting this location. It's clean, spacious, and super cute with the string lights and the K-pop music added such a fun ambiance! We ordered lunch bento boxes. I got the spicy pork belly, which could've been a little spicier (just my preference), but it was still delicious. My child had the chicken katsu; it was a bit overcooked in some spots, but still good overall. Service was fast and efficient! The older gentleman who seated us was very helpful and attentive, we really appreciated that. When we were leaving, they even gave us a to-go bag without us having to ask. Overall, we loved the food and the service. We'll definitely be back!

Great Korean in east valley. It is a little expensive, but food is always great. Their kimchi soon tofu soup is a favorite. Their fried chicken is delish too. Always big portions as well. Friendly quick service. Always very clean and organized.

My last trip here though I had to ask about why the menu had stopped changing as often since we were one of two parties there in the middle of happy hour and there was a large framed picture of a bartender with a bunch of signed notes on the bottom of it beside me at the bar. It turns out that one of the oldest curators and bartenders of the bar and restaurant had passed from a drunk driving incident and I had not known at all! Gosh I was so disappointed in myself that I had ever complained about not having a new menu to try after that...but at the same time it was amazing to hear so many great anecdotes and to learn so much more about him and the history of the bar itself while dining this time. I had a lot of fun times at this bar - including remembering the first time I met that bartender and sharing that memory with the staff that told me their story. They also shared that they would be coming out with a new menu very soon and some of the new items and ideas that would be rolling out so I am also very excited to go back! She was super attentive too and kept refilling our drinks throughout the meal. We tried a mix of specialty rolls and more basic rolls. Most of the specialty rolls were around $15 each, while the basic rolls were under $10. The spicy tuna rolls were especially good for the price because they were cheap, but still came out huge. Overall the portions were very generous and the prices weren't bad at all. I got the Hell Fire roll and it definitely lived up to the name. I handle spicy food really well and even for me this thing was extremely spicy. It was almost painfully hot, but honestly I kind of enjoyed the challenge, It was also really good besides just being spicy, so I'd definitely get it again. The inside also had a cool vibe with all the colorful lighting and it wasn't too busy when we went which was nice. Most of our sushi came out almost immediately. The fried rolls understandably took a little longer since they had to be made fresh. My only small complaint is I wish everything would of came out closer to the same time, because some of us already had food while we were still waiting on the fried rolls. The menu was 5 courses prix fixe designed by the head chef for this group. The restaurant was closed as a private event. Service was excellent, the food was also so delicious, and cocktails were great too. Shimogamo is one of the few Japanese restaurants in the valley that remind me of eating Japanese food in Japan. It's well prepared, fresh, and high quality. The cocktails are creative and nods to Japan with delicate flavors and unique ingredients. Our courses were: started with the truffle amberjack which is a flavor bomb, very rich and truffle forward. Which I don't always enjoy but when paired with amberjack, it was great. 2nd course was a nigiri plate- 4 choices: sea bream (which I love), a fancy type salmon, toro, and couple pieces of the wagyu roll. Next onto a darn near perfect crab croquet that was creamy with big pieces of crab and perfectly fried, and main course was K4 ranch Wagyu from Prescott. Very buttery and delicious. We ended with a matcha basque cheesecake. The chefs talked about the food, answered questions, and talked about their background. It was an enjoyable dinner and we will be back for the "oysters and cocktails" hour they were promoting. I love both of those things.
