I would give this place 5 stars if my order was right but I wanted the lox bagel with the smoked salmon, onions and capers but when I ordered the lady who was helping me looked at me crazy. She gave me the bagel with a lox cream cheese. I thought maybe this was just all they had until my friend came out with the bagel I asked for! Stopped in for a quick breakfast on the way out of town. The bagel was good, no complaints there. Also picked up a coffee which was good and a black and white cookie which was also good. I liked how they offered more than just bagels so I may be back next time to try some more deli items. Also had some throw back candy for sale. Staff was friendly but seemed a little overwhelmed and confused about who was supposed to be doing what job. Pulled in when saw Goldberg's reliable name. Though independently/family owned and not really a chain, everything out here is Goldberg's! North & South Forks there are Goldberg's for bagels. Shows a few angry ratings.. (if a staff person is ever rude, call the store and leave a message for the owner.. let them know.. no owner wants someone ruining their biz) but does this look like a 2 or 3 star bagel? A picture says a thousand words... Yum! Tip: when on the east end some towns are more limited off season etc.. so stick to the basics and check hours etc. Excellent bagel! read more

This place has some seriously good product - the bagels and sandwiches are top notch. They don't skimp and everything is always fresh. However, the staff needs a wakeup call. They make a mistake on every single order, which is beyond me considering they write down your order and even hand it back to you to read over.... The lady who runs the cashier is the only one on top of things. She essentially runs the show. She constantly has to reprimand the staff for the countless mistakes they make on a daily basis. I think out of the 50x I've been here, only twice has my order been write. Ask for a farm fresh omelette, the avocado might be missing. Ask for a bagel with tomato and onion, expect neither of those. BEST. BAGELS. EVER. This was our first time ever having Goldberg's. We got it twice while visiting New York! We had the spicy hobo and an everything bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. It's sometimes difficult to find a bagel shop with good bagels and good ingredients inside the sandwich. This place didn't choose between one or the other. I've had bagels from here on numerous occasions, but I have never gone into the shop myself. The bagels themselves are good; they are flavorful and a good texture. However, when they've put sandwiches together for me, I haven't liked them that much. I've also heard from my family who picks up the bagels from the shop that the store is absolutely chaotic and disorganized. This past Saturday morning, it took my friend 45 minutes to get our order because of how hectic it is. If you can manage to get bagels from here without going into the shop, it would be worth it. But I personally don't think it's worth going through all of the chaos of in store ordering. read more

They most likely charge different prices for different people. Got charged $30 for two coffees, a small cream cheese, and a package of salmon. There were no prices on any of the items, so hard to know what the actual cost was. In front of us, someone was charged $14 for a sandwich, coffee, and a drink (this transaction occurred in Spanish). While I understand the socioeconomic dynamics, these are dishonest and unethical business practices in my opinion. At least put prices on the items.... If you are buying plain bagels and a la carte salmon and cream cheese, you also don't need to wait on the order line. Last time I was here, I accidentally waited on the very long order line rather than the pay line. When I politely suggested maybe it should be more clear that the order line is only for prepared sandwiches (I probably wasted 30 min waiting on the line), I was yelled at by the employee. read more

This place is awful - please go to another Goldberg's as this one has rude staff and disgusting health hazards. Rosa, the cashier, was incredibly rude and unprofessional. I asked to have my bagels sliced and her respond was "I can't slide them because I might cut my hands". I responded with ok could someone else slide them the bagels? She answered no because others are too busy. They weren't even that busy it was a Saturday in September. The fact that a bagel store is unwilling to slice bagels is absurd. Rosa needs to be taught some professionalism. Rosa also was touching all the bagels with the SAME gloves where she was handling the money. This is a huge health hazard and disgusting. Their smoked salmon is better than anywhere in city! I usually carry a few pounds to city fir special occasions. Great breakfasts and lunches! I don't care how good the bagels are I am not willing to put up with rude insufferable people. I've been here three times. I've been kind respectful and tolerant but today was the last straw. I had put a phone order in at wrong store and when I realized it they refused to take my order until I stood in the store and called the other store. I explained (politely) that I would call while they made my order because I was in a hurry. They told me to either drive 15 min to the other store or make the call but they refused to start order. The time before that I tried to order a Reuben at 2:30 they refused because they closed at 3! The time before was just plain sullen and insufferable. I'm done. I have very mixed feelings about this Goldberg's in particular. Their bagels and menu are pretty good, I enjoy the spreads and cream cheeses there. Menu is moderately pricey for a bagel store, but it's the Hamptons. Now, to talk about the service, their service is very bad. Do not even know where to begin. They charged my friend $380 instead of $40 and GASLIT her when she went back to get a refund. Said she should have came in the day it happened but their phones were off the line (as always...). They ended up giving her cash after an embarrassing confrontation, and STILL charged her $40 for the bagels. Worst costumer service- do better Goldberg's fam. I dont know who hires in this company but a background check would be advised before adding some of these employees to your team. They are so rude, and not to mention this is the MOST expensive Goldberg's in the Hamptons. Weird considering they are all owned by the same very wealthy man?? I have had many bad experiences here, but the last time I walked in- about a week ago- really did it for me. To start i desperately had to use the bathroom. In New York a bathroom must be provided for costumers, COVID or not, why does Goldberg's think they are special? I walked into the door that has said "out of service" for like about half a year now. Worked perfectly fine, toilet flushed, water ran, lights on. Nothing was out of service. When I got out, my brother ALMOST walked in after me, but the employee who was just washing dishes in the kitchen ran after him and screamed out of service while pointing at the sign. I almost told her it worked perfectly fine but I didn't want to start anything. The same woman who was just mopping the floor with no gloves, started to ring us up and handle my food without washing her hands post-cleaning. I got charged $35 for one bagel and some snacks then I asked for the receipt. She didn't even have the decency to hand it to me to read on my own. She must have thought I was personally accusing her but I was obviously not, just shocked by the outrageous prices. Talk about a god complex!!!! She screamed all the prices at me, $6 for a bagel, $5 bag of chips, $4 water, and then some more for my brother, mine and his kids. By far the most expensive Goldberg's around, I don't know who gives these people the right to upcharge. I would truly not be surprised if I was told they pocket the cash to bring home, because they sure don't earn a tip. Hope this says enough about the establishment, drive to Goldberg's on Pantigo if you want a reasonable bagel with good service!!! This business is broken. Tear it down and start over. Have been coming here for 10+ years since it was Twice Upon a Bagel, which had its own issues (RIP) which we need not rehash here. The service at this Goldberg's location -- I've been to others which appear not to have the same problems -- is off-the-charts bad. Employees fall into one of two categories: low-functioning or arrogantly incompetent. I can excuse the former as it's not malign, but surly service is never okay. Now that we are "in season" they are highlighting a longstanding policy of " (plain) bagels only" customers being served at the end of the counter. There are signs illustrating the respective lines, and customers seem to have figured out how to sort themselves properly. On Sunday morning, I entered the store to long lines but was comforted to know that the "bagels only" line would move quickly as, well, all they have to do is put bagels in a bag and ring you up (i.e., no food preparation). You know what happens next. Since the lines weren't staffed and rung up separately but rather had employees wandering confusedly between the two, the "befuddled affluent" clientele spilled over into each others' lines, and the design flaw of people ordering BOTH prepared items AND plain bagels threw sand into the gears. This led to effectively to the prepared food line jumping the queue for plain bagels and caused the line for plain bagels to stop moving. After about 20 minutes, when I finally got to the front of the line (I only had about a half-dozen people ahead of me when I arrived), I explained to the woman at the counter -- whom I've seen for years (I'm here year round) but God forbid she acknowledge me as a regular customer -- that the system doesn't work if they don't staff the "bagels only" line separately. She responded by saying "sir, there are two separate lines", as if the problem was that I simply failed to understand that. After about 60 seconds of explaining the design and staffing errors of their approach I gave up, took my bagels and left. The bagels are ok, it is Goldberg's after all. But they need to go back to the drawing board and start over on this place. New systems, new staff, new attitude. read more

When I asked why she was not wearing the minimum protection she answered "What for" and I said that she was handling food and also taking payments with her bare hands. I am still appalled at our experience here yesterday and sorely miss Twice Again A Bagel, even though they had their issues too. We stopped for a quick lunch on the way out farther east, and there was no indication of the location being open, until we peered through the window and saw workers moving around. Walked in, asked if they were open because they appeared to be closing -- all of the chairs were already on top of the tables except for one, and all of the food in the deli case was covered so we could barely see what they had - and their reply was "Yeah, we close at 4" (It was 2:30.....) We put our stuff down on the one table that had its chairs still on the ground, ordered, and when we got back to the table (mind you, we were never more than three feet away from the table), the paper bag of baked goods we had just purchased from Breadzilla next door was not there. One of their workers was in the midst of cleaning the table and was about to place the chairs on it. We asked him - Where did our bag go? We had placed a brown paper bag on this table while we were ordering and now it's gone... Where is it? He completely shied away from any responsibility, at first totally not answering and saying he didn't know, and after two minutes offering to help look for it, to no avail. The people at the counter were of no help, NO ONE stepped up and took responsibility, they refused to reimburse us for throwing out our stuff. Obviously fuming, we then got our sandwiches - which were BOTH different from the way we ordered. I'm sorry, but closing up an hour and a half early while there are still 5 customers inside the store, throwing out customers' property and then taking no responsibility for it, and then messing up both orders? Got bagels from Goldberg's and they accidentally charged me almost $400. When I went back to fix it with them I was treated so poorly for THEIR mistake. Oh, and they still charged me for the bagels. Not a single sorry was said. The woman at the cash register was somehow blaming me for HER mistake. They told me I should have come back the day before except when I called they answered the phone and put the receiver down so the line has now been busy for 24 hours straight. The woman at the register publicly shamed me for a mistake she made and refused to give me a refund directly to my card even after I explained that I was now at my credit limit for her mistake. I have never experienced such horrible customer service. I should not be in tears for trying to get a refund. The bagels weren't even good. read more

I love Goldberg's but this location can be really hit or miss. Just went in at 1:45pm granted it is Sunday and they wouldn't make me a Bacon-egg & cheese on a roll.. Because "they don't have any eggs" the lady behind her is making egg salad.. when I said "really you have no eggs she changed her reason to "the grill is off." Although there are people behind the counter, they ignore you, never greet you, are rude, condescending and clueless. It's as if they are doing you a favor by waiting on you. There is absolutely no training of the staff. They rarely get your order correct. The woman who FINALLY made my sandwich after talking up her co-worker, came to the register to hand it to me. However, the call she took on her cell phone right before she reached the counter was more important. She wandered around gesturing wildly with my sandwich while I called out to her to just hand me the sandwich. Talk about clueless. She didn't even notice me. Finally the cashier went and got it for me. The cashier apologized at least. The woman who made the sandwich is probably still on the phone. The workers there don't care about you, your business, your food, your wait time . . . . anything! Pride comes from the top.
