Used to be a regular pre covid days, the last time I went there was when it was still King Kong but just found out that it's under new management since a year ago. Food is still decent and reasonable. Servers were friendly. But CHECK your receipt prior to signing - did not like the underhanded treatment of pre filling tip amount without my approval, it was perhaps my naïveté in assuming that it is customer's choice to tip.

This was my third time here and it has decreased in quality. Our first round which included tribe tip stew, had white carrots that had gone bad already. We had it returned. The ingredients were not the freshest. The chicken is supposed to be stingy with wasabi but lacked taste. Regardless, the lobster and chow mien were prepared well and the chicken feet were meaty and well in flavor. Their sweets were good too. This was too bad since the whole family was here to celebrate Father's Day.

We came to this restaurant on a Sunday late afternoon and it was the perfect time to visit because there weren't too many people there. The servers were all very nice (note I do speak Cantonese) and provided us with fast service. The food was absolutely delicious and all came out hot and fresh. The dim sum here is some of the best I've ever had. The steam dumplings were just perfect - the skin was chewy and didn't break apart when picking them up. If you know what I mean, you know the shrimp noodles and were excellent as well. The skin was chewy and had a soft texture that I really enjoyed. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for some incredible dim sum. Can't wait to come back again! The price is also very very reasonable.

Dropped by here the other week. This place changed owners since the last time I was here. The service was good. We got here early so there wasn't very many tables taken. But as we sat the place was filling up. The parking wasn't as good. There is limited parking in the area. The food was okay. It came out hot and in a timely mannor.

According to other reviews, Golden Bay Banquet took over from King Kong more than 11 months ago. Today was our day to give them a try. Quite often, Chinese restaurants will focus on Dim Sum from late morning to early afternoon, then close for a couple of hours and reopen for the dinner crowd. The day staff and the evening staff are two different crews and are usually not interchangeable due to cooking or English skills. When we walked in today at about 10:45, we were immediately greeted and seated at a four-top against the front window. There was one large group sitting at a round table and a group of three sitting at another four-top. There were two people sitting at a third four-top, but I believe that they were there for a take-out order. We were asked in English what kind of tea we wanted. I ordered our tea in Cantonese and the server didn't blink. Sorry to say, sometimes when I do that, I can see a shift in attitude. An order sheet and pen were left on the table for us to peruse. The teapot was served while we were figuring out what to try. We noticed that numerous selections were scratched from the menu. We don't know if those were permanent deletions or if they simply didn't have them on offer today. We ordered six items, one less than usual. We got one dish, then three dishes, then one each two more times. Of the six, three were hot. The other three were lukewarm. There was no obvious reason for this. It was not busy while we were there. Pan Fried Turnip Cake - 2 - When I was growing up, I remember more Daikon, some bacon bit sized morsels of bbq pork, dried shrimp and chopped green onions mixed into the Turnip Cakes. Now, we're happy to get some pieces of Daikon. The Turnip Cake here was mostly flour and water. To make it worse, it was served lukewarm. Pan Fried Leek Gow - 4 - One of the three hot dishes and quite possibly the best of the day. The flavor was good. The wrapper was a bit thick but I could live with it. Chow Sum with Oyster Sauce - 3 - Another cold dish. It appeared that these greens were simply boiled and served. When making Chinese Broccoli, a small amount of oil is poured into the salted water. When the Broccoli is removed from the water, there's a slight sheen from the oil that adheres to the Broccoli. The salt adds a bit of flavor beyond what the Oyster Sauce will. I know that Choy Sum is not Broccoli but I see no reason to change the cooking technique. Siu Mai - 4 - Hot and filling. Enough said. Fried Rice Rolls in XO Sauce. - 2 - Lukewarm and lacking in flavor. XO Sauce is made from dried shrimp, dried scallop, ham, chili peppers, oil and garlic. While there was some flavor, not enough sauce was used and the rice rolls were more dry than wet. Har Gow - 3 - Good size, decent shrimp, could have used more white pepper for flavor. The temperature was okay. Ever since COVID started, condiments disappeared from Chinese restaurant tables. We had to ask for hot oil. It would have been nice to also have received some soy sauce, but I guess we have to ask for that as well. Service was okay. Our teapot was kept full with the frequent addition of hot water. If anything, I think because business was slow, we got more attention than we really needed. We came, we ate, we'll be moving on.

It's been ages since we came here when it was King Kong. The place has gone down since it's hey days and things are very quiet. But that's perfect for us, came in for a late lunch on a Saturday and only 2 tables had people, got seated and served right away. Can't find that at most dim sum joints! Got the e-fu meen with seafood in XO sauce and some dim sum dishes. Also the chrysanthemum tea. All were very good and came out super quick! Parking is a bit tricky cos there's only the front lot in this strip mall. So at peak hours might have to park a couple blocks away in the residential area. Still a good option and we'll come back soon.

Went here for the first time. Tried to call in an order for pickup but they said I have to go in to order. I place my order inside and they say it will be 20 minutes to be ready. I come to pickup and I'm told they don't have any of one of my items and push for me to accept an alternative instead of a refund. I requested a refund, which they gave minus taxes I paid on the item. After I started eating my order, I noticed one of my items was wrong. I ordered Bbq pork bao but it was something else inside. Everything else was ok, but smaller than what I get from my usual place. Quite possibly the first and last time ordering from here.

Grand Golden Bay takes over the old King Kong Dim Sum location in San Leandro. I was taking my parents to King Kong Dim Sum this morning. When we reached the front, I saw the Soft Opening sign for Grand Golden Bay. I hadn't been in the area in awhile. From listening to customers and wait staff, the King Kong owners sold the business around December 12th, and the Soft Opening launch was January 17th. The interior changed a little. The wait staff is mostly new with a holdover or two. The Dim Sum menu was given along with a marker. Order was placed, and Tea was brought to the table. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. Tea was refilled often. Food came out steadily. Food was good. I will definitely be back to sample more of their menu.

    Hana H.

Wonderful food cooked by the friendly and talented owner/chef. We also really appreciated friendly and fast service. Even my picky Chinese parents love all the dishes the waitress named Ping recommended. Do not let some negative reviews stop you from supporting local businesses. We definitely will come back.

Came here for Dim Sum Brunch on a Saturday around noon and got a table right way. That was a bad sign. We ordered some tea, which was tasteless. Here's what we ordered: Char Siu Bao (BBQ Pork Bun) was pretty good flavor. 3 Stars Egg Puffs was good and moist. 3 Stars Fried shrimp balls was okay moist but lack flavor. 3 Stars Har Gow (Shrimp Dumplings) looks good but again no flavor. 2 Stars Siu Mai (Pork Dumplings) was rotten and not edible. 0 Stars Beef Noodle Roll, no flavor. 2 Stars The Chinese menudos I called it had way too much daikon and liver in it, have no flavor. 1 Stars The staff was okay typical Chinese restaurant service.

The restaurant is really big and we sat at a table for 14 pretty comfortably. We were also here on a Saturday night and the restaurant was full. The service is your typical Chinese restaurant vibe where you leave a little bit emotionally abused after paying for overly priced menu items. We did the à la cart and easily spent up to $1500. Better off with the family plan meal but nothing was of interest to us except one or two dishes. It took forever to come out and I mean FOREVER to a point where we almost cancelled a few dishes and called it a night, but they kept saying it's being made. With as many people and as massive as the restaurant was, and the price tags, I was expecting a more efficient service. A couple of times we saw our dish being brought to the wrong table and the people going "oh we didn't order this." With all of that out of the way, I am giving them an average score of 3 starts because the food did bring them back up. It was actually really good. My favorite of all things we ordered was their sea bass with string beans. The sea bass was fried crispy, garnished salty and still soft inside. It paired really well with the string beans. We ordered a bunch of other things that I couldn't tell you what the name was in English and they were above average taste wise. Their complimentary dessert however, was mass produced and tasted like they added too much water to it. This was the only one I was disappointed in. I still say this place is extremely overpriced but for a family meal experience and if you ever want to impress a date, why not.

This is the restaurant of choice for my wife's family gatherings, and she has a pretty big family,…read moreso we're here quite a bit. To be honest, Fusion used to be terrible, and I used to absolutely hate coming here. Food was slow in coming, what came out was often cold, the dining room was loud, and service was impersonal, at best. On one visit, half the menu was unavailable, requested silverware was crooked, and numerous glasses, bowls, and plates were chipped or damaged. On another visit, I saw multiple families sneak out of the restaurant, walk to McDonald's across the plaza, and smuggle food back in to tide them over until their orders came. After a while, I wasn't alone in meeting the decree of, "come to Fusion on Saturday," with a groan. However, when HL Peninsula opened in Castro Valley and established itself as a threat to Fusion's business, it served as a wake-up call. Food immediately got better (from "below-average" to "know what to order and you'll be fine"), the speed of service improved, and food temperature became consistent and proper. It's not QUITE a "different restaurant" feel, and there are still some negatives. It's still loud and service could still be better (there have been times where chicken wings have taken over an hour to come out, which is a "should not occur"). However, at least I don't dread coming here anymore.

The siu mai skin was a bit overcooked but the filling was evenly seasoned and had a good ratio of pork and shrimp. Would get again The fish in the fish sandwich is crispy, well seasoned and SO tender, paired with the bread and a dollop of the sweet kewpie mayo it's absolutely so worth the $3.50. The bun isn't as soft as everyone was saying but it was good, and that's coming from someone who doesn't care for bread. The chicken sandwiches are also good but they use tenders so some pieces are on the drier side, eating it fresh was good but saving these for later did not turn out well. If you're going to get this eat it right away The hong kong style milk tea is made fresh to order and has the perfect flavor of strong brewed tea and milk. It tasted like it was sweetened with honey in the best way, this was SO good and needs to be talked about more! The cocktail bun was good but too much bread to filling ratio, so I would pass on this. On the upside the filling had the right amount of sweetness to coconut ratio! Green onion bun was perfectly savory with an ample serving of scallion oil on top. I would get this again but only if I was craving! I wanted the pineapple bun with butter, but I said I'd like the pineapple bun, so if you want the stick of butter inside make sure you say WITH butter! This was surprisingly good too, the crumbly topping was just the right amount of sweet and the bun had a good texture. Unfortunately I don't like bread so I wouldn't get this just for me. The egg tarts here are VERY jello-y, not like a custard and heavy on the egg flavor. I wish the crust was flakier, but overall I enjoyed it. Boyfriend said he didn't like that it was so jello-y though. The bbq pork buns were a pass, it's a minced pork mush inside, and has more fat than meat. The flavor was standard but it was too mushy. Hot dog bun was standard, the dough on this was chewier than the buns which I appreciated! Still good warmed up, it's what you'd expect 1000% coming back.

I expected more green onion flavor but generally pretty good - 2 stars for bbq pork bun. Taste was good but needs more filling. Will stop here more in the future to try others. What should i try next?

My family celebrated my dad's 87th birthday here. When we arrived, the restaurant was busy, but…read morethere were still seats available. My sister had reserved our tables a few days in advance. The staff told her we wouldn't be seated unless our entire party was present. About 4 people were late, but they still seated us. The restaurant kind of felt old and somewhat dirty. But hey, it was my dad's birthday. I wasn't paying for lunch. We occupied three tables and ordered from both the lunch and dim sum menus. I enjoyed dishes like shiu mai, pork buns, walnut shrimp, fried rice, fish, and fried noodles. The sesame balls were tasty, but the service was slow, and I had to follow up on our order. I didn't care for the bun with the hot dog or the other noodle dish. Later that day, my daughter mentioned she had found hair in a pork bun and that her cousin had eaten it. She also said every item he picked up had hair on it, which was disappointing. I didn't confirm this with my cousin, but it would have been helpful to have someone inform the staff. Fortunately, no one at our table found hair in their food, which was a relief. Overall, the food that I ate was fine, but I wouldn't make a special trip from San Jose to visit again...unless it's a fambam family treat.

Where should I begin? I came to this restaurant with my mom, who lives nearby and has often told me…read morethat the roasted duck here is very good and reasonably priced. We decided to drive over and give it a try. When we arrived, the cashier greeted us politely and asked what we would like to order. We requested half of a roasted duck. She acknowledged the order and called over to the chef to prepare it. The chef walked over and selected a duck hanging on the left side. My mom politely asked if we could instead have the half duck hanging on the right side, mainly because it appeared to be a larger portion. Unfortunately, the chef ignored her request as if he hadn't heard it. I then kindly repeated the request and asked if we could have the one on the right instead. At that point, the chef placed the duck he had taken down back onto the rack and proceeded to serve the next customer in line. He then continued assisting additional customers who arrived afterward while completely ignoring us. After waiting for a while without any acknowledgment, my mom became frustrated and said we should just leave and not purchase anything. Once we said that, the chef suddenly became aggressive and started yelling, saying, "Why the f*** would I cut open a whole duck just to give you half?" As we were leaving, I calmly asked him if the duck on the right side was already cut in half, because we were not asking him to cut a new one. He responded with his mask hanging below his nose and said, "Yes, it's cut in half. So what? I don't want to sell it to you." This interaction was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I'm not sure if he is the chef or the owner, but basic respect and communication with customers should always come first. Due to the situation, I decided to take a photo of the individual. When he noticed, he became even more agitated and chased after my mom and me toward our car. For a moment, I genuinely felt concerned about my mom's safety. He followed us to the car and began trying to take photos of us as well. It was shocking to see someone become so aggressive over a simple request regarding half of a roasted duck. Experiences like this make customers feel uncomfortable and unsafe, and it is not something anyone should have to deal with when simply trying to purchase food. Thankfully my mom and I were not hurt. WE WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN even If it is the last roast duck place in San Leandro, I rather drive up to San Francisco than to spend my money here.

Good thing about these rice noodle fun is that, you can request to add an egg for extra protein, it is extra cost just heads up. If you don't like eggs, you don't have to add eggs. If you want eggs, you just say, "One order of bbq pork steamed rice noodle fun with egg". This place is really small, but they do have indoor dining that probably only sits 8 people max. Highly recommend ordering to-go. Be prepared to wait at least 10-15 minutes if not busy, since the rice noodle fun is made to order, so it's nice and fresh. While you're waiting, you can shop around at the 88 Manor Market, where you can find a lot of Asian sauces and ingredients ! They are also known for their Roast Duck and Soy Sauce Chicken! Super flavorful and delicious when you bring home a half/full order and eat it over rice and/or any Asian noodles! Cool thing is that, if you spend $30 on their steamed dimsum menu, you get free large cup of hot soy milk for free! The people there are really nice and friendly, so I highly recommend coming here to give it a try. STEAMED RICE NOODLE FUN - don't get mixed up. :)
