Our family of five visited the Golden Corral Buffet and Grill off Memorial Park in Jacksonville, Florida, for dinner last night. We chose this place because our daughter loves the variety of food options, and they indeed have a good mix of dishes. We walked through the corral (haha, see what I did there!?) to select our drinks and purchase entry to the buffet. The place seems to be undergoing some renovations, which look bright and inviting. I even spotted an electric fireplace! Our waitress came to our table and took the ticket with our beverage choices. She left us with paper containers holding a straw, fork, and knife before we headed to the buffet. They have hand sanitizers by the container with all the hot and freshly cleaned plates. I decided to check out the meat station first, where they were searing steaks and slicing ham. They had just put out a big rack of ribs, so I asked the man behind the serving line for two bones. They also have a new wing section, so I grabbed a few lemon pepper and buffalo wings from the four flavors available. We got the kids some pizza and mac and cheese. They have all the homestyle sides you can choose from. The ribs I had were great! They had a smoky flavor and were almost fall-off-the-bone tender. I preferred the lemon pepper wings over the buffalo. I also got a bunch of popcorn shrimp and some fried fish. The fish wasn't my favorite; I couldn't tell what kind it was exactly and had a feeling it was catfish, which I don't care for. The kids loved the dessert bar. There were plenty of goodies for them to choose from. Most of us got the soft serve ice cream, but topped it with either some peach cobbler or warm pie. We left there full and happy because everyone got something they enjoyed while getting to try some other dishes. We were impressed by the variety and quality of food, especially the grilled steaks and homestyle sides. The dessert bar was a highlight for us, with a wide selection of sweet treats. The service was generally good, with the staff being attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant, especially with the ongoing renovations making the place look brighter and more inviting. To be perfectly honest; I haven't been to a Golden Corral Buffet in a very long time. Maybe over 20 years for sure. My mom (in her 80's) had a doctor's appointment in the area and afterwards she said "let's go to Golden Corral.... I was thinking "oh no" but she really wanted to go. Inside the restaurant they were remodeling so things weren't tidied up. I was pleasantly surprised with the items they had on the buffet. I do like they provide latex gloves for those who want to use them when getting their food (which I did). I like salad so I had a nice salad with lettuce and the fixings and with macaroni salad, coleslaw and chicken salad. Everything was great! I then got some bourbon chicken, corn and a few fries. All of those items were good as well. I then got dessert; peach cobbler, apple cobbler and a small piece of blueberry pie. The desserts were good! The waiter was super friendly and checked mom and I a lot (she likes her sweet tea). Also; everyone there was polite and not so pushy to get their food before anyone else. People were friendly!!! I do recommend you try Golden Corral even if you haven't been in a super long time. Hopefully the remodel will be done soon and they get the place back to normal. read more

But this is where my parents wanted to go so here we are The eggs - if you like them scorn and brown then this is your place!!!! The French toast (only had two pieces & had nothing else) was like rubber. It literally bounced back when tried to cut. I get it you cook for volume not flavor or quality. Food was decent. What you would expect from an American buffet with a twist on Chinese, Mexican and Italian dishes. They have a decent variety although it's been slimmed down compared to a couple of years ago. Service was not so decent. You can pick where you sit so maybe sit somewhere that doesn't seem to have a large party. Maybe. The last time we dined here we sat near a large party. Our sever took a long time to refill our drinks and we had to ask for that while other servers were just cleaning their empty sections to kill time. read more

Went to this brand new location for dinner on a Thursday night. From the parking lot appearance, it seemed packed. I was wrong. This place is pretty huge and was only 1/2 full inside. So, it's brand new and its spotlessly clean. Hope it will stay that way for a while. The food is pretty good, none in our group found anything they disliked. Hot was hot, cold was cold. The salad bar was pretty well stocked and enjoyed by all. Nice grill with steaks being cooked to order. This GC has two separate rooms off to the side. The waitress (Sarah) went above and beyond normal buffet waitress duty to take care of the 8 of us. I will definitely be back. read more

Went there for lunch on a Sunday. Quite crowded. Tables and chairs right next to each other. We had to request to be moved to the opposite side of the restaurant as the area we were first assigned to was full and the floor was dirty from food dropped by kids playing all over. I've always loved Golden Corral. My wife and i have been to this one a number of times. Always left happy (and very full). The food here is good. You need to remember this is a buffet and not 5 star restaurant. Today they had all you can eat wings. I love wings! They were good and im sure they will remind me of my visit here tomorrow. (A couple were quite spicy.) And then there's the dessert bar. This is one of my favorite parts. Always good. The service has always been top notch. I can only think of 1 time we weren't 100% satisfied. All in all we will make this location a staple. read more

Very disappointed. I ordered several of my Thanksgiving sides here for pickup. Big difference between last year and this year. The slaw has changed. I used to love it when it was very finely chopped & had a different dressing. Now it's chunky and on the sweet side. I'm just going to throw it out. I don't like it at all. Family sized sides used to come in square containers. Not the $5.99 size but about a third of that size. Now the $3.99 sides come in a much smaller round container comparable to what you'd get at KFC for a large side. The mashed potatoes were great. The brown gravy was good but a little thin. I skipped ordering the turkey gravy because I got it last year and it was very watery. The dressing was delicious, and the $5.99 size was a very generous portion. I was disappointed in the mac and cheese too. It wasn't nearly as good as it has been in the past. So, I guess for Christmas I'll be ordering my stuff from Publix instead. I was very disappointed overall in Golden Corral this time around. I'm so glad I cooked my own turkey instead of paying for a full $100 meal from them. Another thing, Golden Corral does NOT have a designated curbside pickup area. There is a large open spot right in front of the door when to-go and curbside orders are placed. It's right next to the handicapped spots. I was parked there. After I had claimed my food and was about to leave, I got serious stink eye from this older man. He also had things to say directed in my direction. My windows were up so I didn't hear him but I would imagine he was offended because I was parked where I was. I was told by Golden Corral staff that space was for curbside and to-go pickup. I was exactly where I was supposed to be, but I can see how he might have gotten the impression I was acting entitled since the space is not marked in any way. I have been coming here for a long time we went on Mother's Day morning to blanding by BJs club and it was excellent as always my daughter always enjoys the food the waitress is always very friendly and I really do love this as a family quick restaurant. My daughter eats free and the prices are very affordable they also have a senior discount. Their food is always very delicious. I went here with my mom for breakfast. I love Golden Corral dinner! I'm not sure I can say the same about breakfast. I had different things. The chicken burrito was really good and cheesy!! The banana pudding was really good too. I didn't like the pancakes or the syrup that they have. My only advice for Golden Coral is to invest in some new plate ware and cups. Had a very bad experience here today, missing food items and know one seems to know when the items are available, food staff seems to be clueless and lost, told me there was a five minute wait for cabbage, I waited 35 minutes and left without it. Went in on a Saturday morning ordered the breakfast buffet at 8.69 with a Water. (I don't drink soft drinks of any kind) Upon getting my receipt I asked about the 32oz beverage cost on my receipt for $2.79 was told that you had to pay for water on the weekends. Have been coming here since it opened and this was the first time I had this happen. Very surprised I had to pay an absorbent price for my water when that was never the case before. Traveling around these great United States I have eaten at Golden Coral many times and this one is just as tasty as the rest of them. My experience here however has shaken my overall satisfaction. First, for no apparent fault of their own, customers are being corraled even more than ever by the tremendous rise in people to the area. This has taken its toll on professional customer service and cleanliness. The trough of delicious eats and snacks are overburden with remnants of food on the counter and floor where less care has been taken to ensure tidiness. As the tables get closer and closer together to gather the masses of extra consumers, their bits and pieces wind up ground to the carpets and the wait staff who even attempts to clean the area bump and grind into unsuspecting patrons desiring a bit of space and quiet to eat. The wash rooms have been neglected as well. Sometimes lines form and one has to wait to do their business which has been stunk up and trashed by the many others before them. Please hire more customer service agents and or create another job title for a better consumer experience. Otherwise, we will really begin to feel like cattle and just walk into a different establishment to give our money to. read more

I read a lot of complaints from what appear to be uppity 5 star diners. Golden Corral is a family buffet. This means there will be children running around. It is a buffet meaning you serve yourself. Occasionally the food is not cooked the way I like it. Guess what? Someone else might love it that way. I have dined with Sandra (the manager) for years upon years. She is a professional. She runs a large operation and does so very well. Sometimes the staff can be rude but if you deal with rude customers it has a tendency to transfer. Someone stated the plastic plates have scratches in them. Yes they do because people use knives on them. I bet the person whining will do the same. Bring wet wipes with you if you are so concerned about the plates and the flatware. During this pandemic I have missed my weekly trips to the senior buffet hours and look forward to continuing that. read more
