I grew up eating at Golden Dragon so this is exactly what I crave when I want Chinese food. I still think this is the best chow mein I've ever had. I also love the war won ton soup as well. The broth is perfect and the wontons are so great. The shrimp fried rice could be a little more flavorful. But it's still very solid. I love mushroom chicken, the mushu pork, and happy family. The Mongolian beef is a solid choice as well. I loved eating in person growing up, but I haven't eaten in person there since the pandemic. It's still family run and such a great solid choice. My family and I went here a few months ago and were so disappointed by the quality of the food and the deceptiveness of the restaurant staff. As a group of 5 we understand a gratuity rate is sometimes charged, however, this was not disclosed at all on the menu or in the restaurant. We also got up charged a few extra dollars from the gratuity rate and when we questioned it we were pressured to pay and leave. We paid over $100 for 2 platters and 2 appetizers. If a restaurant is struggling it might be better to treat hard working families with respect and dignity so they can return instead of squeezing extra money out of them. I visited this place with a friend about a month ago, for lunch. We had both been here in the past, when owned by the previous long time owners, of Chinese origin. Sadly, we will not be back. The person who took us to the table was abrupt, left without a care. This would Never have happened with the original owners. The food took a long time to arrive, but never mind that. The pieces of the General Fried Chicken were HARD, so hard that they were difficult to pull off of the fork!! The General Fried Chicken was not described as having any onions, yet it was Covered in wok fried onion slices, so much so that, when pulled off and gathered into a bunch on the side, looked like the size of a baseball, not kidding. And one of us doesn't like onions, so... they were all pulled off. Thanks very much for all of that during our lunch. The pot stickers were a huge disapoinment, compared to what the original owners prepared. These were flabby, no taste. What?? We will not be back, and recommend you don't bother to waste your time or money there either. OVER $50.00 for lunch for 2!!! (with 2 potstickers appeizers included). The potstickers used to be a real draw when the original owners ran the Golden Dragon. The interior is depressing, painted all over top to bottom, in drab medium hospital green. If you want good Chinese food, (and a good ambiance) - travel down to the Treasure Dragon, 1780 E Main St suite 600, it seems to be the new "good Chinese food" in Woodland. I don't even know where to begin. This place has gone so downhill from what it once was.I had gone for my birthday and literally we had to put down our own place settings, drinks were strewn on the table, soy sauce had mold in it and no sooner did we get our soup that our food was there a minute later. Food it itself was subpar. Rice and chow mein was cold, spring roll was so greasy and if you ordered a shrimp item with a combo meal you got maybe 4 shrimp in the dish. It was so disappointing. if you're planning on going don't waste your money. Even if you tell the staff something they ignore you or act like your request is impossible. I've been coming here with my family for many years now and they don't disappoint! The flavor is on point and the service has always been super friendly everytime I went! I was staying in Woodland with a friend because my AC went out in my house. Anyway, I wanted to treat them to dinner as a Thank You. So they picked Golden Dragon. We ordered by phone and when we arrived 30 minutes later the order wasn't ready. Be ready in 15 minutes. Ok- not a large order; two adults and two small kids. They asked if I wanted Pot Sticker sauce with my Pot Stickers; I said but of course. Hot mustard-yes. Soy sauce and hot oil. Yes please. Very thoughtful I thought. OH NO! They were padding the bill. YES, they charged us for every sauce. WTF. The bill for Won Ton soup, Pot Stickers, Beef and Broccoli, General Tsos Chicken, Chicken chow menu, and rice was $90.00 plus tax. WTF!! I just had Chinese in Rancho Cordova for 4 adults and it was less money than that for same amount of food. The decor inside looked tired and dated. You hoped the food was of tremendous taste for that price. Oh NO! The worse. The box they gave us to carry the food was a nice touch. However, the lone Styrofoam container leaked all over the box and in my car. UGH. Bad experience all the way around. Do yourself a favor...go somewhere else. read more

Wish the employees were a little nice or at least be somewhat happy when customers walk through their doors but doesn't seem like customer service is at all their priority. We ordered quite a bit of food and asked for a receipt, their total and food costs on their website did not match. Best Chinese food in town! We usually order the combination dinners (general chicken and sweet and sour pork) You get soup, cream cheese wontons, pot stickers, egg rolls and the entree! Food: This USED to be the best tasting Chinese cuisine in town, now, not so much... food was bland, overly greasy, and Luke warm when it came out! The beef chowder soup, had literally one crumb of ground beef in it ( granted it was the small lunch cup size but still) it was a tasteless cornstarch slurry " soup" . The heavenly chicken not so heavenly anymore! Chicken pieces were hard and rubbery and just not good. The chicken chow Mien was really greasy and salty, the fried rice was also overly greasy and salty. Now for the service: apparently the older Asian lady is the new owner, she seriously lacks customer service and basic human interaction skill. I won't say she was overly rude to us as others have stated ( I would have shut it down real quick) but rude enough for my mom to notice and mention it to me. The ambiance and decor: it's really dark and dismal looking in here with ugly bad art on the black walls. The lights that were over the tables are gone and with the walls being black making it dang near impossible to see. Prices: I know everything is up due to costs, but the lunch specials are a bit pricey... I will say you do get a lot of food though ( albeit greasy and salty, but there's enough for leftovers if you want to bother taking it home) Will I be back? The minute we got there they gave us a menu n said you ready to order. No you just gave us the menu. Within 5 minutes she asked 2 more times. It was not crowded or busy or near closing. We were trying to talk. Finally sent over a more ruder person. So we ordered. Food not as good as usual so when she was packing the food we said not all of it she threw it all in. If I could I would review this place a 0. The customer service in this establishment should be enough to get the restaurant shut down. My dad has been a frequent customer for years and today when he tried to order his usual order the woman on the phone let him know that they were out of what he wanted. When my dad proceeded to ask for alternatives the woman responded "no, you can come in and see what we have" then hung up on him when he rephrased the question. My dad tried calling back and he couldn't get through. I called about 30 minutes later to speak to a manager about the situation and the same lady answered my phone call and told me that she blocked my dads phone number from the restaurant. She told me it was because he was flagged as a customer that does not pick up his orders which is false. I let her know my concerns and frustrations with the customer service and asked to speak to a manager and she said they had left. I then asked for her name and let her know that I would be calling back tomorrow to speak to a manager about the situation and she refused to give me her name and then hung up on me. This behavior is absolutely atrocious and beyond the term horrible customer service. This was rude, disrespectful and discriminatory to a paying customer. Do not eat at this establishment and enable this behavior and service. read more

The food was fine -- standard "American Chinese" takeout quality. Their prices, however, were horrible. We ordered several entrees, and each was between $15 - $20. These weren't anything special; we're talking about chow mein and beef with broccoli. If Golden Dragon's prices were reasonable, we'd get take out from them a couple of times a month. THE SERVICE: Not very attentive, took my coworker two tries to get them to bring her straws. They got my order wrong twice. It took 10 minutes to get their attention to bring us the check (we were here for lunch hour from work, so time was of essence).
