I was surprised by the quality of their ramen noodles. Given recent ramen shops opening in the area, this is my #1 so far. Would def. come back. The noodles have good texture, cooked al-dente. The chasiu thickness nicely highlighted the char, the flavor, and brought a well balanced texture of the meat. The Shoyu broth was warm and comforting on a chi-beria weather day. A bit "greasy" for shoyu broth but I wonder if it was because of the pork chasiu. Nevertheless, I think this is still the best in the area.

Happy to have a new ramen place in the area! They have a wide range of ramen, sushi, rice bowls, and curry. I had the Hokkaido ramen and I thought it was delicious! Good noodle texture and broth flavor, and the Cha siu was delicious too. We can near the end of service during the weekday and it wasn't busy at all. Service was quick and attentive. Overall I think this is my number one choice for ramen in the area!

Stopped in on Saturday at opening and the place was half full by noon. Ordered the karaage, tonkatsu ramen and chicken curry. The karaage had the nice crisp of breading with the subtle chew of potato starch and the chicken was nice and moist. The chicken katsu was quite thick so I wish there was more breading for a bigger crunch but it was still great. The curry was nice and thick, though it could used a little stronger curry flavor for my tastes. The star here is the ramen. The noodles have a really nice chew to them and the broth has a great depth of flavor. The noodles were ever slightly thicker than most ramen places which gave you more of the chew you crave with noodles. Sanjo really hits the spot for great ramen. Service was also great as the servers were friendly and attentive.

In a quiet unassuming store front in a strip mall sits this fantastic new restaurant. Apparently everyone has heard of this place since there was a steady stream of customers picking up their orders and dining in the restaurant. I ordered the tonkatsu shoyu ramen and it was delicious. The pork broth was very flavorful. The pork itself was tender with a little char on it. The noodles and veggies were amazing. My husband got the zuke don. The pieces of salmon and tuna were huge and had been marinated to add to the great flavor. Our server was very nice, even offering paper towels after there were none available in the washroom. Sanjo Ramen is a great addition to the area.

We came here for some ramen and boy I was so surprised that it's pretty authentic! The broth is amazing, just like when I was Japan! I definitely would recommend Sanjo Ramen and would come back and try other dishes!

Quality, price, value comparable to other ramen places. Sanjo Ramen would be a place to frequent solely based on proximity. The service was good. Staff were friendly. The table lost a foot and was very wobbly and dangerously unstable. The waitress immediately got cardboard and propped the leg. Space and seating is limited-- it seemed to get busy quick around peak hours. We had arrived just before the dinner rush which reduced the amount of wait time. Ramen hit the spot for a cold Chicago wintery day!

    Sashimi over rice

Legit Japanese restaurant just opened in Buffalo Grove Simple and clean atmosphere Tonkatsu with curry over the rice Tonkatsu ramen with all the toppings Sashimi over rice was very good as well I will definitely come back

Some of the best ramen I've had. Most delicious broth in my life. Our waitress was so nice and attentive thanks !

    Spicy Miso Ramen Tantan Ramen

The restaurant was very clean and modern. The broth for both ramen was flavorful and tasty. I will say tho that added all my spice to my spicy miso, and then I thought it was great! Our waiter did a great job to make sure to check on us to see if we needed anything. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The gyoza was gone before I remembered to snap a pic! Best gyoza I have had. I was also very hungry definitely will be coming back!

I still enjoy the big pieces of fish and mix of cucumbers, avocado, seaweed with a sprinkle of sesame seeds. There was a time it included edamame but doesn't look like it is included anymore. My kids ordered the spider roll, dragon roll and beef udon that came with a california roll. The rolls were a good size and had a good ratio of rice to other ingredients. The pieces of sashimi are good sized with appropriate amount of rice in each piece. The salmon kama is a nice appetizer. It comes out scorching hot and crispy. It can be tricky to eat because of the bones, but worth the work! I really like the design of the booths with the authentic decor resembling Japanese architecture. I don't like that the tables are consistently sticky when we eat there and if we don't get a booth, the tables are wobbly. No matter where we sit, there is always a table with a wobbly leg. The service is always super welcoming and friendly. Our waiter may have been new and still in training because we waited 24 mins from when we asked for the check until it was brought to us. And even then, I had to ask the busboy to remind our server for the check because he kept walking in and out of the room taking other tables' orders and refilling water. Upon realizing the long waiting time, the server was apologetic and still very kind which I appreciated. As we were leaving all the other staff made a point to say thank yous and good byes.

For our entrees, we both ordered sushi. I wish I could remember the name of the roll I ordered, but it disappeared from my mind the moment my friend's food came. I ordered one sushi roll, which arrived in 10 pieces on a regular plate. Whatever it was, it was fine. Meanwhile, my friend ordered 2 crunch rolls, which arrived on a massive wooden platter. Twenty pieces in all, but substantially more food than you'd expect from two rolls. And, it was really, really good! We ended up sharing both of our entrees, and had an entire crunch roll leftover to bring home. A few weeks later, I'm still thinking about that spicy crunch. I'll definitely order one for myself the next time I'm there.

Love the over easy egg fried egg that adds the yolk flavor when mixed together. This is the first time I've had mushrooms in bibimpop and it added some earthiness to it. Overall was quite good, just wished there was a little more pickled radishes to add some more crunch as everything else was soft. Soy glazed chicken wings were very tasty. They were served with French fries and rice cakes. The soy glaze was sweet and salty and stuck really well to everything. The wings had a nice crispiness to the outside that had a dense chew to the hardened glaze. The toasted rice cakes had a nice coating of the glaze that had some crispiness to it just like the fries. Dukboki had a great depth of flavor to it and the heat was very nice as it was not overpowering in spice and had a lingering burn to it. Our Combo was $100 and included miso or seaweed soup, rice, banchan and four kinds of meat: marinated bulgogi, short rib, ribeye and brisket. Delicious Delicious. The banchan was tasty tasty. I especially liked the pickled cucumber and the kimchi. Some of the reviews said they were charged extra for refills on the banchan dishes. We were not. What a feast. The server loaded up our grill with brisket and would leave and come back to flip things or turn things although we were pretty capable of doing it ourselves. They very nicely cut our ribeye into bite-sized pieces with the kitchen shears and also snipped up the short rib. The meat was delicious and the banchan and rice soon filled us up. We used the green leafy lettuce to make ssambap. I also liked the sauce with the sesame oil and salt. The bulgogi was last and we had to dig deep to finish it. There was another table where flames shot up from the grill but the staff quickly went over to help. The staff was friendly and efficient. The banchan was plentiful and tasty.
