Not sure why this place is highly reviewed. It could be for the friendly repertoire between customers and owner. But, based on the food, I don't think the high reviews are close to reality. If you want GOOD chinese, don't come here. I've eaten at at least three other Chinese restaurants near this area. This place is mediocre Chinese at best. Portion Size: 1/2 of what other places give. EX: Happy Wok gives enough for dinner plus leftovers. Price: Not cheaper than most place. But also not outrageously expensive. I left this place maybe 3/4 full when spending a few dollars more than what I normally spend on Chinese. Food: I ordered sesame chicken and orange chicken. They tasted almost the same except for the sprinkled on sesame seeds. Service: Pretty slow for a Sunday at 5pm... Waited maybe 20 mins. Atmosphere: Nice jazz music and nice decors. Friendly owner and staff was okay. Overall: I would NOT come back, because I've had better food for almost the same price in terms of quantity and taste. It was disappointing. Thanks to Yelp, I found this place while on a road trip from San Diego. It's extremely rare to find a gluten free Chinese restaurant. I ordered gluten free Mongolian beef, gluten free sesame chicken, Chinese greens and mushrooms and brown rice. It was overall pretty good. The Mongolian beef was a tad too salty and needed more beef because it was mostly filled with crispy noodles and onions. The sesame chicken was good and still crispy when we got back to our hotel. Went there because work colleagues raved about it and certainly has good reviews. First of all, I do not believe that Tucsonans in general know good Asian food. And I think many of the reviews are probably from those on the east side of town. There are not too many choices when you are out here on Harrison. I had the General Tsao's chicken. The batter was just OK. It was light, more resembling the kind that you would expect from sweet and sour chicken, not General Tsao's chicken. It came with a veggie egg roll. Not bad, but not great. And that was the whole eating experience. Not bad, but not great. The price was decent, but if you wanted the soup, it was 75¢ extra: I didn't get the soup. I give 4 or 5 stars to places that I would go out of my way to eat again. Not here. The service was very friendly and efficient, but the food was a disappointment. The vegetarian meats they use are already great when it comes to texture in mimicking real protein. The real winners here, however, are 1. the fantastic flavors that go into the food - not overpowering at all and you don't walk away feeling nasty or greasy or heavy - and 2. Ming and her assistant waitress - ridiculously nice and pleasant to interact with, and they recognize the clientele that walk into their restaurant. Healthy Chinese, that's a thing?!? you may ask. Yes, it is. At least at Golden House where it is a haven for vegetarians, vegans, the health conscious, or if you have gluten allergies. We were a bit wary after driving up and there was no other customers, and it was located in a strip mall. Well, some of the best places are in nondescript locations. We headed in and the hostess seated us quickly and was extremely friendly. Both of the front house girls were extremely friendly, so friendly we almost had to check our phones to make sure of what decade we were in. The waitress was very helpful at explaining the menu, and she brought us some crispy noodles and sweet sauce as a free appetizer. I later found out that they weren't too busy inside because most people come in and order take-out. We got the lo-mein, dumplings, beef lo mein, and fried rice. Nothing was greasy or breaded and fried. My only wish is that there were more of the dumplings in an order because it was really only enough for one person. They were so crispy and done so well. The fried rice was moist and delicious with no sign of old grease taste. Both entrees were amazeballs. At first we admittedly didn't think we were going to like the food, but instead it turned out to be some of the best Chinese food we have had in a long time. Everything had texture and crunch where necessary, instead of some soggy, fried, lumped together Chinese food. Overall, food and staff were great. I ate, there the night before last. The food was very good however, know matter how good it was I won't go back. I paid $55.00 for two people. When I went to pay I could not believe that they charged me for using my credit card . I am amazed that they believe that it is simply OK to charge me extra for using credit card. Obviously, they do not understand that a credit card customer usually is a more frequent customer, and they order more as a general rule. Until they change this practice, I will not ever return. Pretty good NY style chow mein. Amazing crab puffs. The egg drop soup a little to salty for my liking. The portion sizes are smaller than other Chinese restaurants. The dinner meal are the same size as the lunch portions. If you are really hungry maybe get two entrees as one will not fill you up. read more

We have eaten here 3 times all for to-go, and every time the food is all packaged with great care. The crispy items and their assigned sauces are always separate so they stray crisp on the drive home. We have a mixed group of vegetarian & meat-eaters and this place is wonderful for either, and are so accommodating with customizations (less salt, more spice, can make any meat item vegetarian); they have a great variety, the food always tastes clean, and fresh, and Customer service is 100%.
