Great food best service! The food is cooked perfectly and priced great for the portions. It's a wonderful, warm, and welcoming place that feels like you are going to your grandparent's home for breakfast. It's always clean inside which very appreciated! The staff are super friendly and make you feel like you are welcomed there and not just a number or source of revenue. We come here every time we are up to visit family, we never miss a chance and sometimes we'll come here almost every morning for breakfast and it never breaks budget. Great food! Great staff! We have visited this restaurant 3 times. The interior decor has many collectible model trains and aircraft in display cases. The food is delicious and the service is quick as well as friendly. We decided to try the week day breakfast specials for $8.99. I had a Denver omelette with sausage links, French toast and a generous size fruit bowl. My wife had a mushroom omelette, bacon, country potatoes, 2 pancakes. There were lots of choices and large portions. We needed to take our leftovers home. Pretty good value. So, we grabbed lunch today and treated ourselves to burgers. I went for the avocado burger - yum! I added cheese and some awesome crispy onion rings (totally worth the extra cost!). The burger itself was amazing; fresh avocado, 1000 Island dressing, and all the usual additions (pickles, onions, tomato, lettuce) on the side if you wanted to add them. Seriously delicious, I'd definitely order it again! My friend got the Southwest BBQ burger, which came with onion rings and bacon - sounds amazing, right? They also had their homemade BBQ sauce on it. Same deal with the extra veggies on the side. They ordered a side salad with it, which was super fresh and simple with ranch dressing. Their menu is HUGE, so be prepared to spend a little time deciding what to get! But honestly, looking around at everyone else's food, it all looked fantastic. The place itself is really cute too - they've got trains and airplanes in display cases everywhere, and even a little train that goes around the restaurant! We love coming here for breakfast. Very cozy and the staff are really friendly. Hubby likes to eat their Chicken Fried Steak. I normally will order their pancakes. The owner definitely loves trains. I decided to have dinner at The Golden Ox tonight and it was really good. I ordered the stuffed cabbage which came with your choice of potato, or spaghetti and soup or salad. I chose the spaghetti and I had the soup which was chicken noodle soup today and really delicious. I tasted dill in the soup which was different but really good! The cabbage rolls (or stuffed cabbage - I'm not sure the exact name.) But it's one of my favorite dinner choices and I've ordered it several times. I enjoy the spaghetti with it since the cabbage rolls have a red sauce on top. Inside the cabbage is a mixture of ground beef and rice. Similar to a stuffed bell pepper. The restaurant is very relaxed and not formal at all. You order at the counter and then a waitress brings the food to your table. The food is prepared right behind the counter and you can see everything from the side salads being prepared all the way down the line to the grill and deep fryer. I like that everything is there infront of the customer. It feels like an old diner where everyone knows each other and it as if you're going to eat dinner at a friends or family members house. It's just comfortable and I really like that. Hopefully you will have a chance to eat here if you haven't yet. You will be impressed by the choices of food offered. The owner has dishes on the menu that are basically her recipes I feel. I can't say this is factual information because I wasn't told this but the dishes range from every day hamburgers and sandwiches or breakfast dishes and then there's also dishes like what I had this evening, cabbage rolls, and also dishes like lemon chicken, Salsberry steak, chicken Parmesan. I have lived in Lodi for 40 years, I less than half a mile from the, and I tried it for the first time today. It definitely will not be the last time! We got a couple of burgers with fries, fried mushrooms, and a piece of cake as well as a mango lime smoothie. The burgers were amazing, definitely the best in Lodi and I have had probably all of them. They make a Greek burger that has everything. I love about Mediterranean food on top of a burger, who does that? I loved it. It was amazing. I am definitely not going to be able to think of enough positive adjectives to review, I was pleasantly surprised, and the food. All of it was fantastic. My husband said the mushroom burger was fantastic as well. The fries were real fries, I even had ketchup. I never put ketchup on my fries, but these were that kind of fry. The fried mushrooms were a fun little appetizer. I can't tell you about the I'm too full from everything else and I haven't tried it but I can't tell you smoothie is amazing as well. First timer tips we learned this past week: you go in and seat yourself, order food at the counter and wait to be served. Coffee, water, and soft drinks are self serve but they do bring coffee and water around for refills. Food is good for the price, we enjoyed the 2 pancake 2 eggs 2 sausage/bacon and hashbrown plate, 3 ggs 1/4lb ham steak hash brown and toast plate, orange juice, and two coffees for $36. Cant beat that. All of the staff was very kind and attentive, we were checked on many times and offered plenty of refills. This diner is super cool! They have a drive thru which I've never seen in any diner before. We ate inside and they had a really cool train collection. Like a LOT of trains. Staff was nice and immediately helped us out when our order was missing our fries. The menu is super extensive, I was overwhelmed about what to order! I am happy that this place is still open and has lasted during this pandemic! It's the closest to a homemade, hearty meal for dinner that you can find in town! I love their Greek Chicken with all the juices and veggies blending together, their soups are delicious and savory (minestrone is my fave) and their ribs are slathered with a sweet sauce with the meat falling off the bone! We brought our daughter who is 19 months old to eat breakfast and ordered our food and sat at a table, 40 mins later we started to realize the restaurant was full of people eating who all arrived long after we had ordered. When we asked about our meals we were told it would be just a few minutes several times. Finally after two older gentleman sitting next to us asked where our food was I checked the counter and saw our food was not even being cooked. I looked around to see everyone around us was done eating and asked for a refund while trying to remain calm and collected... Started off extra early to take my teen daughter for her drive test at the DMV in Lodi. Unfortunately she wasn't able to take her test since the confirm button was never pressed lol! Grrrr teens! I Park and mosey on in with my daughter. At first I look around since this is new territory and realize, ok, I order first?? That one took a minute to click and by that I mean you walk up and order and they bring you your food. It's also self serve coffee I was a little confused because I was hangry and just wanted to be served but anyways ordered, got my coffee and sat. The wait wasn't to long it did have some interesting decor. Lots of train memorabilia everywhere you turn which was cool. Everyone knew the waitresses which was a good sign. The food came and it was hot and ready to eat the steak was cooked medium just like I asked and my eggs were runny. Yummy!! My daughter had her French toast with scrambled eggs and hash browns I think we paid $21.00 for everything!
