Well, my friend wanted to showcase his favorite dim sum restaurant. Supposedly, it has been here forever. Oddly, the parking lot was packed but inside the restaurant was half full. No problem getting seated. Looks like most people park in their parking lot and walk across to street to shop. The room was very spacious and the decor was dated. There were very few roaming dim sum carts. Upon sitting down, my group waited around for someone to check on them. It was a big awkward trying to figure out what to do. I didn't realize that I need to fill in the big sheet of paper and wave around like a maniac to get the staff's attention. We finally got some Oolong tea. My friend order since he knew what he wanted and the other guests chimed in on what they wanted. Overall, the food was a bit bland. On the plus side, the dim sum portions look like they were cooked to order as they came out later during our meal.

Lobster noodles for lunch. Nom nom nom! Came here for a weekday lunch and it was packed. A lot of older couples here because they can splurge on the Lobster Noodles for $28 and quality dim sum. We had a variety of dishes and I thought all tasted great. Standouts: Lunch Lobster Noodles - This is a good little mini-splurge if you are craving lobster. They give a generous amount of the thick, flat lobster noodles and enough lobster for two people to be satisfied. Baked BBQ Pork Buns - I liked the crunchy top bun that gave way to juicy chopped BBQ pork inside. Deep Fried Purple Yam Puff? - Not sure the name but it was a purple ball that had hot black sesame in the middle. So sweet, so chewy, so sinful. Deep Fried Stuffed Taro - I'm a sucker for these at dim sum and as long as they are light and flaky on the outside and not a ball of oil at the base them I usually like them. These were good. Steamed Bean Curd Skin Roll - I loved that it was more veggie than meat inside and that the bean curd skin was multiple thin layers on the wrap all in a steamy lightly saucy bowl. They are very efficient here and I think you can choose between three teas (jasmine, chrysanthemum and one other) for your potted tea. I imagine it's even busier here with a wait on the weekends. If you want traditional dim sum done how you expect it to be (vs. creative new style dim sum creations), Golden Palace is great for that!

Ambiance is traditional and a bit dated, but the dishes we ordered, lobster noodles, century egg porridge, rice noodle rolls, and phoenix claws (chicken feet) were all quite good if not exceptional. On noon on a weekend, wasn't very crowded. And service was as expected. Overall food was good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return.

Came by for lunch the other day and it was a decent experience. Called ahead and my order was ready upon arrival ~20 minutes later. The phone operator was also the cashier and was quite talented with a mask and disposable gloves. Golden Palace has parking inside the private lot as well as street parking. They take credit cards. There is a promo on Small, Medium, and large dim sum during the week where small, medium, or large dim sum are the price of a small. Started off with the jellyfish and it was quite tasty. Moved on to the beef rice noodle crepe and it was decent. The rice noodle was on the thicker side and the beef was a pretty decent portion. The fried pork dumpling was decent although the mochi wrapper was on the thicker side. The pot stickers were quite tasty. Meaty filling with a super thin skin.

This is a review for weekday dim sum only. We would rate 3.5 but the price bumps it up to a 4 because it is good value. We will return. The group I went with has been coming here for the past year and all reported that the restaurant must have a new chef because the food has improved recently. It can be busy during weekday lunch. Mostly elderly couples during weekday lunch and the parking spot can be small. It can take about 10-15 min to get your food. 1) If you go during lunch on weekdays, the M and L dishes are the same price as small which is a good value 2) The dinner is overpriced, in my opinion. If you do dinner, then recommend the noodle dishes only. 3) Dim sum is easy because they give you a sheet of paper with the dish names in English and Cantonese. You indicate on the paper the number of each dish you would like. 4) The lo mai gai is particularly delicious. The rice is not too clumped together. The lotus leaf flavor is infused throughout the rice. The salted egg yolk (not many pieces but enough) added is a delight. 5) The pan fried shrimp and chives are also a standout. We liked that they do not use won ton skins. The consistency of the outer portion was very nice and not too gummy.

We did the set meal for 6 people and also added a couple dishes such as the fried rice, which was delicious. The lobster in the lobster noodles is super good but there are a lot of noodles, which were just okay. Walnut prawns were good (I didn't see any fruit?) and the rest of the dishes were also quite good. The menu goes together nicely with seafood, some meat, soup, veggies etc and is a well-put together combo.

I've driven past this restaurant so many times but never given it a try! I was craving dim sum & decided to come with my family right around opening at 10:30 on a Sunday and our food came out in batches. It was very hit or miss, the service is as expected. Shrimp chang fen/cheung fun: The skin is too thick and the sauce doesn't really have any taste to it, I'd skip this next time. Lobster noodles: Really good, they don't skimp on the amount of seafood in this & the noodles are well seasoned! It was a hit at our table. Chive dumplings/jiu cai jiao: So delicious and a real authentic Cantonese classic. I'm a fan. Would love to learn how to make these at home one day. Shrimp dumplings/har gow: I really liked these, the skin was good and the shrimp was juicy/had a fresh taste to it. Shrimp wrapped in tofu skin: Not a big fan of tofu skin so I'm already a bit biased, but I'd skip this. My family loved it though. It's not too oily, which is nice! I can see why people would like the texture difference, but the taste of tofu skin is too overwhelming for me to enjoy the shrimp. Cha shao bao/cha siu: I feel like this is the most reliable dish to order at dim sum! It never disappoints and is generally one of the easier things to make I'd imagine? I really like the ones made at Golden Palace, the buns came out piping hot and ready to eat. Salted egg yolk bun: I'm showing my affection towards bao with this review, but this was also one of my favorites. The juxtaposition of the taste of the sweet bun with the salted egg yolk is divine. Mango pudding: Probably skip this one, it was too firm/gelatinous for my liking. I'm more of a fan of a silkier texture akin to soft tofu. Sesame balls: Really liked these, but they were very sweet, especially for a Chinese dessert. I could only eat one! Overall I would come back here, especially factoring into consideration the convenient location in South Bay right off the highway and plentiful parking.

I came here for a get together of moms of girls scouts troop. We ordered a set menu for 6 people and pre-ordered a braised chicken dish with ham, mushrooms, vegetables. All came to $62 per person. We had a lot of food: - Peking duck 4/5 - Walnut prawns 4/5 - braised chicken dish with ham, mushrooms, vegetables 5/5 - Lobster noodles 4/5 - sweet sour fish 3/5 - greens with abalone 3/5 Service was good since they weren't busy. They recently remodeled.

Highlights: & Long delay due to sui mai & Food is good but not exceptional Food: & Turnip cake (lo bak go) was a lot more flour starch than turnip/sausage. Had a doughey texture. 3/5 & Deep fried pork bun? (Hong su gok) was pretty good. Decent amount of filling 5/5 & Sui Mai was really big and the best of the four we got. 5/5 & Har gao had a thick wrapper so was tougher to eat and not as good. Filling was okay. 3/5 Service This was for takeout and on a Saturday as dim sum time was winding down, though for some reason it took 45 minutes waiting on the sui Mai. It wasn't just us either; people seated at tables were wondering where their sui Mai was. On the bright side we saw a server go into the parking lot looking for a customer who has left their phone, so that speaks to how much they care. Ambience Parking lot is very cramped and can be tough to find a spot on Saturday dim sum time. Do NOT park in the lot across the street (India cash and carry).

Walked in right after it's open (around 10:30am Saturday morning) , only two tables occupied. And one staff showed us inside and let us to pick wherever we like ( kids were really happy about it). And the waitresses took our tea order right away and offered paper menu for you to check (I still enjoy the paper menu experience a lot). Inside maintained maybe 10-15 years old decorations but neat and clean. The orders served fast especially the steam dim sum ones (5stars), we like the chicken feet, shrimp chow fan , for the fried food we enjoyed the han shui gao, salt pepper chicken wings -- the oil taste fresh , unfortunately the chicken wing tastes like 5 days old or longer (4star). For the classic Pi Dan and pork porridge, lack of some seasoning and the pi Dan all in big chunks ( 3stars). Also we order the sweet ending egg tart -- not much highlights, the custard was not that impressive, especially the outside crust tasted powdery (2 stars) . Price is reasonable in current market, by the time we walked out of the restaurant (11:30am) there are only 4 open spots in the parking lot. This place is suitable for friends and family gatherings.

This place is chaotic! There is a host station where you'll go to grab a number from the host and wait for your table. People who dine here tends to just make up their own numbers or just give out numbers on their own which can be very confusing for others. It is not your classic dim sum style where they walk around with the carts. You order on a piece of paper and they bring out the food. This is totally fine however the service absolutely SUCKS. Our food came out one by one so we would finish a dish and then sit and wait for an additional 20 minutes for the next dish to come out. Part of our food never came out so we had to order because we had already been there for over two hours. At one point we asked for more chili sauce and the waitress proceeded to just reached over to another table where they had another family eating and just took theirs. Like what! Food was decent but service was definitely lacking. It wasn't worth it in my opinion.

    Selina T.

My family and I were the first customers when they opened at 10:30. The Har Gow, steamed meatballs, and Siu Mai were my favorite. They came out piping hot. The food is very good and the service was fast but when the morning crowd started to come in, the service got slow. Over all, at $6.29 for all S-M-L items (the special weekday prices went up as of 2026), the meal cost was very pretty affordable.

As of this writing (12/30/24) do they serve dim sum on carts? If so, is it for lunch or dinner or both? Thx

They don't have carts. You would order on their menu and they bring the food out to you. Many restaurants also do this now. I don't believe they have dimsum for dinner, but I've never been there for dinner. I've only had dimsum during lunch hours.

Is there a private room? For how many people?

    Does it serve noodle soups?

Is there a set price for all dim sum on weekdays or weekends?

Party of 12, since we got there early, we agreed. The side room had the biggest round table for us. They ask you what kind of tea you want, we like chrysanthemum tea. You order the items on the paper menu and it comes to your table. So we got going on the orders and TBH, we must be hungry, because we did a lot of orders (we had plenty of left overs). Tried some favorites and a few new items that we thought were unique to their restaurant. My dad has to order crispy noodle and chow fun, and we also ordered chicken fried rice. The service was prompt and attentive, with enough servers to take care of the side room. Since it was the "sun room", the sun was shining through the windows and it was bright. Review from my parents: it was just meh, they prefer the other place near our house. I think the food is good, but probably won't come back again with a big group of us, since they don't have many big round tables. And personally, I prefer the whole experience of the ladies coming around with their carts. Perhaps their dinner menu is also worth trying. Bonus for us is that we can literally walk to this restaurant. Parking could be an issue if you come later.

When we arrived, I checked us in and we were seated right away. The space was gorgeous - spacious, bright, elegant, high ceilings, ginormous screens. I placed the completed form at the edge of the table for the wait staff to pick up, after about 10 minutes of no one stopping by, I had to do the arm waving thing to flag someone down. I typically expect minimal to no customer service when going out for dim sum - it's just culturally expected. The food eventually slowly started to come out, a dish and basket at a time, but we had no sauces, so I had to get again flat someone down for some. Once we were settled with sauces, we were good.
