We were walking in Balboa Island when I saw this new Vietnamese restaurant. Checked out the menu, and instantly reminded me of my trips back in the day in Saigon. My husband and I ordered Sea Salt Coffee (highly recommended! Hubby had his with boba), garlic chicken wings, crispy spring rolls (they also have steamed) and marinated chicken rice. Love this new small restaurant on Balboa Island! Of course the island is very busy and parking is limited but there is always someone leaving so be patient in driving around to find a spot to park! Me and the wife decide to try Golden Rabbit to get our boba fix for our anniversary. We had the Vietnamese coffee with boba and it was Great and the spring roll is great also. So good! The service was great, they only have tables for 2 but the staff were super accommodating and put together a table for 4. They were so friendly. We just tried their Boba today and they were pretty good! Passion fruit green tea with double popping boba and the brown sugar Milk tea tasted great. The owner is such a nice lady. Patiently listened to my suggestion to perhaps bring a sugar free (natural sweetener) option to the menu while my family called me a Karen for doing it. This is the best Vietnamese Restaurant in Orange County. The food is tasty, the ingredients are fresh, customer service is phenomenal. My favorite is the beef vermicelli. The beef is tender and savory, noodles are fresh, and vegetables are refreshing. This mix is full of flavor that clearly worth going out of the way for! I also really enjoy the Vietnamese iced coffee because it is served cold and has a pleasant taste that goes down easy almost like an iced cold chocolate drink. Inside and outside seating to offer a relaxing time on the island. The menu is perfect sized that has a variety of items on the menu including boba, egg rolls, appetizers, baguettes and chicken plates. I can't wait to try it all. Wow! What an amazing meal our family just had here at the Golden Rabbit. We weren't planning on eating here but when we walked by it smelled good, so we gave it a try. We started with the four pack of shrimp Spring Rolls. These were fat and plump, full of big sized shrimp. The peanut dipping sauce was excellent. Each family member got something different. My daughter had the off menu beef Pho, my son had a shrimp and rice dish, my wife had the chicken curry and I got the beef udon noodles. Each dish had a big portion and the flavors were spot on. The curry was spicy and came with a big scoop of rice. My son's shrimp were just like the Spring Rolls fat and plump. My udon was great with the tender beef having a touch of sweetness. We had an awesome experience, starting with friendly service, the food came out really fast and everything we ordered lived up to the 5 star reviews. The shrimp rolls were super fresh and we almost ordered more. The chicken curry was so flavorful and just as delicious the next day. We did take out from our new local restaurant, Golden Rabbit. We ordered spring rolls, egg rolls and the beef vermicelli. All really good. They offered a free drink for orders over $25. We got the Golden Rabbit Milk Tea .... Yummy. Prices are good. We're locals and we'll definitely be back. They seem to be mostly take out .... 2 tables outside, one inside and some stools/bar at the windows. read more

I wanted to share my experience at The Golden Rabbit - 10/10! my boyfriend and I went down there on a Friday evening for some dinner, the service (shoutout to Mysa who is so incredibly sweet) is excellent. Mysa was very attentive and made sure to check on us incase we needed anything else and so were the other employees working behind the kitchen. The food is authentic and delicious. We ordered the spicy wontons, the spring rolls, and two entrees (marinated chicken w/ rice, beef vermicelli) and all so fresh and amazing quality. I ordered the Thai green tea and egg rolls online and the service was extremely quick. I've only gotten the egg rolls so far but I'll definitely come back to see what is on their expanded food menu. Whenever I get a Thai green tea I get worried that it'll taste watered down based on past ones I've had from other shops but I have to say this was definitely not. I'll have to snag another one when I'm on the island. The egg rolls came hot and crispy and with a yummy sweet sauce. I wasn't sure if three was enough for me but I have to say it's pretty filling.
