We drive by Golden Taco daily and finally stopped in to try it out!! It's a very simple set up, straight to the point which I liked. They have $1.99 tacos on Tuesdays!! Great deal! Excluding the Birria tacos they are regular price, but so worth it! They are mouth watering delicious I would definitely recommend Golden Birria Tacos

The tastiest tacos on Power Road-West Valley! Arrived around lunch time and ordered 3 tacos-birria, carne asada, and pollo plus side of rice and beans. Order came out super fast with two bottles of hot sauces. I enjoyed all three tacos-you can't go wrong! The rice and beans were also a hit-the beans had a nice kick of spice to it which I appreciate! Plenty of tables. Service is as good. I'd come back again!

WOW!!! Let me tell you, I've been looking for a good taco joint cause I can't ever find one with good food and reasonable prices till I found Golden Taco! They are a small place with bangin food! One of the best things I love about them is how simple their menu is Holy moly! You will see the picture of the menu and see what I'm talking about! Seriously I can't get over the simplicity of their menu! I got the Birria tacos and rice & beans! 10 out of 10 seriously! Finally good rice & beans!! Yum! My hubby got the loaded nachos and rice & beans as well and chips with salsa! They were absolutely loaded alight! Best chips nice and fresh! The place was absolutely clean 100% and the ladies that worked there were so happy nice and helpful? Run to the Golden Taco trust me you will thank me I promise!

Very simple, very authentic, and very satisfying! So happy with this surprise visit! My husband was craving street tacos and we happened to be in the area. We ordered a whole spread of tacos and were very impressed with the selection and overall execution! We ordered: - Birria, - Carne - Pastor - cabeza - tripas - fish taco The fish taco was my fav, very satisfying and a bit bigger than the general street tacos. It was refreshing, flavorful and all the flavors went so well together. My husband can't even decide between Carne, Fish & Tripas... this should tell you, you really can't go wrong. Go in, get a mix! It's so worth it!

We tried Carne Asada, Pollo & Pastor tacos on Taco Tuesday for $1.99 each. Not terrible, but I hate the fact that restaurants continue to serve pieces of meat that they wouldn't eat themselves! (fatty & unchewable) Will not be going back unfortunately.

Golden Taco knows how to get your craving right. They have great carne asada, tortillas are always fresh, and the staff is awesome. Great little spot

Lots of toppings on tacos make them taste really good, but what is more impressive, is when tacos have just the basic toppings and taste absolutely delicious!! We went back to Golden Taco a few days ago and got takeout. The Birria is really the best I've ever had. With just onions, cilantro and a squeeze of lime on top, they are fabulous! I don't think it was my review that got them to have two tortillas instead of one for the Birria, but they have done it and this helped the Birria be much less soggy by the time it got home. We are so lucky this place opened pretty close to us in East Mesa. They now have some tables inside and out so we will be trying to dine in soon. Please do yourself a favor and try their food!

Ignore the ants and flys as you eat at one of the few tables available. And if you're vegan just turn around and exit. We asked for lettuce and tomato and would have had better luck asking for caviar. Taco Tuesday offers $2 tacos which is basically a scoop of meat over a very small corn or flour taco. It's great for people on a budget where Taco Bell is to expensive.. but mark my words they will be out of business or shut down by the az health department before long.

Tried this taco place for the first time. Overall it's not bad, but it is very average. The tacos used some nice fresh tortilla and their corn and flour both taste homemade. The guacamole was the major disappointment, it tastes like store bought Safeway guacamole that has a plastic aftertaste from the container it comes in. This was a big detractor on the overall meal quality, as the burrito and fish taco come with the same guacamole sauce that just does not taste fresh and ends up bringing the overall flavor down. Service was friendly and fast at least, so if you are looking for a quick fix this place is an okay choice, but if you are looking for something more authentic there are better options.

false advertisement on special. they have a sign that says taco Tuesday, but does not specify if regular tacos or street. we came in on a Tuesday to get $1.99 tacos and ended up paying $30 for 5 tacos!! when I brought it up to the cashier she was very rude and didn't acknowledge. terrible service read more

Clean place with an incredibly friendly staff. Busy on a Friday night, and rightly so. The Pollo, Carne Asada tacos were all very good. Very tasty and lots of flavor. The mild (green) sauce was fantastic, and I'm usually not a green sauce type of guy. The hot (red) sauce had just the right amount of heat. Not overwhelming, but definitely kicked things up a notch. I loved that too. Friday night there are fish and shrimp taco specials. We ordered 3 shrimp tacos on corn tortillas, and they were so good that we didn't even stop to take a picture of them (or catch our breath, for that matter). If you are a fan of Maskadores, midnight taco, and Carne Asada, but live in North East Mesa and hate driving; Golden Taco is for you! Had lunch there today and my table sampled just about everything on the menu. The ingredients are fresh, the flavors are authentic and the food is delicious. The Menu is simple, as it should be. Not over loaded with a ton of different items. These folks are focused on making tacos, burritos and quesadillas as good as they can be. The proteins were all flavored really well and had their own distinct seasonings that sang through. The burritos also weren't packed with a bunch of filler or overloaded with one type of ingredient. If you want to PUKE, here is the place. The tortillas, GREASY & from a bag no longer made in house. Chips, STALE & flavorless. Ambience, nobody there at lunch & we know why. Beans, hurt our stomachs. Rice, greasy reheated old."crap. Guacamole, brown mystery sludge from a BAG. Fish taco, FROZEN fish, SOGGY breading . Just NO. They must have sold the place and changed owners. Service, slobs who thought serving expired food to people was FUNNY. Health department grade, not publicly posted. read more

Just tried Golden Taco on Taco Tuesday and I'm glad I did! The carne asada tacos are some of the best I've had in AZ, the al pastore is flavorful and delicious. We also tried a steak quesadilla that was full of wonderfully seasoned asada and melty cheese. We ordered the chips and guacamole and I would gladly pay a bit more for a larger portion because it is so damn good we wanted more! I also wanted to mention that this is a family business and the owners are awesome as they are very down to earth and have a great sense of humor! My family and I are happy that Golden Taco is here in our neighborhood and will 100% be back! Keep up the great work Golden Taco!!! read more

Great tacos, Carne Asada and Pastor are the ones I love the most. Authentic tortillas-flour or corn for the gluten free. Chips are also made by hand and are crispy and light. Their green and red salsas are delicious. Taco Tuesday brings a good deal, but honestly-its a great deal every day. Give this family run, local business a try if you are in the neighborhood. Small business with two friendly owners have opened up a friendly restaurant for street tacos, which are priced right and quite yummy. The red and green salsas both have good kick and served in containers that are easily poured on order. Finally a lunch spot for Mexican Food that doesn't overcharge. Yep, try it folks! (Small recommendation is to watch TV programming on large screen TV in dining area; an Ozark show was on with quite saucy language. Intended pun. :) ) read more

Wow! I am a foodie with lots of travel experience in Mexico, and local taquerias in Texas and the Phoenix Metroplex. These were hands down some of the best tacos I've had in a while! Their golden corn tortillas were soft and filled with that authentic flavor, and the meats where phenomenal! It's been a long time since I was genuinely impressed by food... This place was pretty good. I saw the sign as I was walking my dogs and later that day I stopped by for lunch! The carne asada was extremely good. It wasn't all chewy and gross. It was super tender and amazing. I def would stop here again for a lunch. They customer service was also great. Green sauce was delicious as well read more

Went there once it was OK but expensive for what you get. The owner had a pizza business in another part of town, When he told me about this new place I asked if they had street tacos. He said 'No". When I went there, I ordered a couple tacos and guess what they were.......street tacos. I guess he doesn't know his product line. By the way, there is another Mexican restaurant on Main Street and Recker. Their tacos are just as good and about half the price. read more

Tried this because the reviews were good on google but it lacked flavor. Asked for salt and was told they didn't have any. The salsa wasn't spicy at all. The pricing was off for the water and when I ordered 5, I was charged $16.25. I asked why when it was $2.25 on their menu board. She told me they have it at $3.35 They fixed it but to sell water at $3.25, generic brand at that, is insane. Overall, the food was bland and not really enjoyable. I doubt we'll be coming back. read more

I was allowed a taste and concluded this was an order well made. Unlike most Mexican food outings I ordered a birria burrito instead of carnitas. Wow, this burrito was truly impressive and so plentiful that I took half home in my eat-later bag. So, this being our third seating at Zona Cantina + Cocina we were yet again impressed and will return another day. Get there if you're able.

You order your food at the counter and I didn't study the menu ahead of time but the ladies taking my order were patient with me. I ordered a shredded beef taco and a cheese enchilada with rice and beans. Nothing fancy for my first time as it's hard to golf on a full stomach! I found the only open table and then hit up the salsa bar. They have 4 or 5 different salsas/hot sauces and a few other goodies. I got a small cup of each sauce and all of them were quite good. My food was colorful, flavorful and just the right away to give me some energy without being lethargic. I could go on about a few other nice things but it seems most of East Mesa already knows about this place given the high scores on Yelp from a lot of reviewers. Nothing to prevent me from giving a 5* review at this time. I look forward to trying some more dishes in the future.

How a team reacts to problems tells me more about the place than just having a 3 or 4 star experience - this group showed experience, grace, and real concern. To start - if you want a booth, make sure you specify that when you put in your name - it changes the wait time. While we waited, we ordered Cokes from the bar, and Marquis gave a warm welcome and great service! Upon finally sliding into our booth, we found the seats hadn't been brushed off - and it was very crumb-y (pun intended) - we ended up using our napkins and then grabbing new sets from a nearby table. We also learned the Coke was FLAT and bitter - not great. However our server, Calvin, during that typical greeting and small talk actually invited us to share our concerns, asking us not to hold back and as a result went above and beyond to turn our experience around. An additional visit from Manager Josh followed, apologizing and genuinely seemed to want the the feedback as a tool for improvement and coaching for some new staff. From that point, everything was great! From getting replacement drinks, to sampling the pulled pork and brisket to tender ribs, and the good sized Cajun shrimp appetizer, the team truly redeemed the evening, and the apple cobbler (it's got a pastry top!) and cinnamon sugar donuts was a great close to the meal. Calvin and Josh gave a masterclass in how to turn a meh start into a memorable meal. We're looking forward to going back - next time with a booth request upfront!

We were seated quickly, which was a great start. Unfortunately, it took quite a while for our server to come over, and it seemed like she was really struggling to keep up with her tables. I understand that things can get busy, but it did affect the overall experience. The food is usually very good here, which is why this visit was disappointing. Everything came out cold, and my favorite Cajun shrimp looked like it had been sitting in water--it just wasn't up to the usual standard. I recently found out that this location is under different ownership, which may explain the change. Because of this experience, I'll likely be taking my family to Bobby Q's Phoenix in the future, even though it's a bit farther away.

That said, my partner and I got the XL Beef Combo 1 and ended up having to take home a third of it. Meat quality is great, and portions are good. They have the best cucumber kimchi I've ever had, and fantastic kimchi soup that's not too spicy. The beef belly and bulgogi were our favorite meats. Many of their options like the green salad, bulgogi, marinated ribs, and vegetables were not nearly as sweet as I often find them in other KBBQ joints, which was a great change. The service is great. I didn't feel waited on, I felt like I was just generally seen. There's a doorbell if you need something quickly. Otherwise all staff were super friendly and anticipated our needs with grill changes which was nice. The atmosphere is great. It's small and casual but very comfortable and upscale at the same time. It feels very relaxed while maintaining a high standard. The music is great (for us), all kinds of EDM at a good volume. And no TVs, which is actually nice - it let us focus on the vibes, the food, and each other. Many other parties were laughing and having a good time. We spent about 130 between the two of us, having ordered an XL combo and an extra side (chicken buldak - I couldn't eat the noodles but the chicken was bomb). It was a great way to spend a Friday night. We plan to make this a regular spot in our rotation - we still have a lot of sides and meats to try. Well done, please keep it up. Would recommend.
