Ambiance: Settings is nice. Environment looks cleaner than most seafood restaurants. Well lit with bright lights. Servers were either busy or stationed between tables waiting to serve. Service: Service was impeccable. To start we asked for recommendations for soup. He didn't insist on any one but he did go over the ingredients and health benefits of each. That actually helped a lot. When food came and they noticed we ordered more than the table can handle, they offered to help us put the table behind us together with our table for us to have a larger table. We were just a party of 3. Food came out fast and hot. Servers would appear now and then to help us scoop out more wontons, soup, or fried rice to our small bowls. Never felt rushed. One time when I was pouring tea for a friend a server came over and said to allow him and he finished pouring tea for rest of us. In the end we wanted to eat a cake we brought and when the server noticed we didn't bring any candles he had some ready and said to use at least one for celebration. This is an authentic Cantonese restaurant with reasonable price. My husband and I came here for a few times. Today we returned with a precious friend, after we went to City Hall for marriage license. We came at around 12:30 pm. Since it is a Friday, during working hours, the restaurant was not packed. We were able to take our time to celebrate, and to enjoy a great meal! I have a mix bag of feelings for this place. Don't get me wrong. First impression the food was great. We came here for lunch and got their signature wontons, and dumpling varieties and their beef rice noodle rolls and curry stews. Definitely top notch. BUT, this review is literally day and night. Lunch was great but dinner was a different story. We've ordered their supposedly famous roasted garlic chicken, their walnut shrimp, the stir fry maws, their clay pot fish and tofu, their salt and pepper porkchops. First off the chicken was old. Definitely was pre made before hand and reheated. Most places makes it fresh and keeps the juices where the white meat melts in your mouth. Majority of the meat was dry and tasteless. They doused it with large amounts of toasted garlic to hide the smell of the chicken. THIS was a disappointment. Their response was that is how it suppose to smell like. Strike one. Their stir fry maw that we've ordered was a special discounted dish. They even have that on their poster stating that it is one of the specials that you can order. They up charged us full price and their excuse was that we have to STATE that we wanted the "discounted" version vs the full price version. I didn't feel like arguing how business works... so please be careful when you do see a special discount on their walls. Make sure to let them know. In most businesses they would honor the discount and apologize and let the future waiters know to let the customer know that you have to verify if you wanted the discounted or full price of a dish. This would've been a correct way vs them showing me the plate.... as if I was an idiot and didn't understand how ordering works... Which was rude. Also one of the waiters said they would discounted this time and at the end he changed it to "Sorry, you ordered the full price version". I didn't care for the cost, but the principle and how business works. The walnut shrimp was also a dissapointment. I'm assuming due to overwhelming orders. The chef fried the shrimp but didnt give it enough time to crisp up and then tossed into the sweet mayo... they somehow stirfried it where the flour became goop....and the mayo melted like gravy... it just had a weird texture. The Salt & Pepper Porkchops. I think they forgot the salt part? Cause none of it had any flavor... just Pepper and garlic. The Fish Tofu was probably the most tasteful one out of the bunch. I've been to this place twice because my husband enjoys the food here. I like the place because the food tastes fresh and I like how their seafood isn't overcooked. However, the last time I went, I saw they had loads of cooked chicken out in hot weather near the garbage cans. I made the conscious decision not to order any chicken dishes at all. I came here for a Saturday lunch and waited only 15 minutes to be seated when I came around 1 p.m. I was first given a number. After my number came up and the waiter hurriedly escorted me to my table, I ordered the sautéed lobster with ginger and scallion. It was surprisingly cheap: only $30 for two fresh lobster. The entree was thoughtfully put together. Fresh-cut ginger and scallions were scattered throughout the dish, and the soy sauce that I added intensified and assembled all flavors. But the lobster over sticky rice special, was really really good. Compared to other places, the rice was crunchy and full of interesting ingredients. We have been coming here for the past few months for all family gatherings. It is a Cantonese style restaurant which I believe is related to the Chinatown branch of Wu's Wonton King. Having enjoyed many meals at Wu's this one in comparison is lacking in service. The food is pretty decent if you come here for dinner. We usually get family style dishes. Portions are big. I have enjoyed the walnut shrimp, black bean clams, garlic pea shoots and of course the wontons. They have family combo specials but it will usually come with one undesirable dish like fish lips which has a pretty bad texture and taste. They have lobster noodles which we tried but I think we would have preferred the lobster rice instead to get that seafood infused goodness. We did enjoy the red bean soup and mango cake for dessert. The wait staff are not good at clearing the dishes or tables and have taken dishes with food on it and have also spilled water on one of us. The bathrooms are pretty gross. We have also had to sit on those cheap plastic stools instead of real chairs. I don't understand why they don't have enough chairs in a restaurant. This place can get pretty crowded. Even with reservations I have had to wait over 30 minutes. The guy who takes the reservations and seats you although not rude is close to it and not welcoming at all. The line for dinner time is usually a horde of people pressed up against the doors waiting to get in. Remember to take a number from him or call in advance. So you know you really love a place when you go back 3 weeks in a row to an area you can't stand because the parking is so horrible! Kids were home so we decided to have Easter lunch at our new favorite place. I asked the staff what it is. The staff said this is their secret recipe lol. Even the chef didn't tell them. Their fried rice is the definite worthy coming to try. Recommend to everyone. Authentic Cantonese cuisine! There aren't many left in the area. It's nice to see a new one open up. Rice rolls. Had the beef version. These were awesome. The Rice roll itself was a perfect texture, smooth and silky. Beef tasted good, not too much added starch like many other restaurants. Definitely get one of these. Try the 3 dumpling noodle soup so you can 3 different types of dumplings. Choose your type of noodle. My preference is ho fun noodle. So you get 2 of each type of dumpling. Each were well made and quite tasty. None were too salty. Perfect the for health conscious or elderly, but still tasty enough. If you need more flavor, dip them in soy sauce which is on each table. All the dumplings were a nice size and not filled with big chunks of fat like some other places. Decor. A medium to large sized restaurant with lots of floor to ceiling windows. Simple decor with several large tv's decorating the back wall. Clean and well maintained fish tanks filled with live seafood, are in the corner. The have a few private dining rooms off to the side. They speak English and Cantonese here, so break out your rusty Cantonese if you know it. Final Note: They serve old school, rice casserole in clay pot! The hot pot is brought right to your table. Review #888 is an auspicious and good luck number that I wouild like to confer on Golden Wonton King. After having both lunch and dinner here, I can say that I can highly recommend them for their Cantonese cuisine. At lunch, the Bone Broth Wonton Soup is fantastic! It seems the milky white broth had been simmering in the kitchen for days, extracting every last bit of flavor from the pork bones. There is not a lot of difference between the wontons and siu gao dumplings. Contrary to what is said on the menu, they both contain pork and shrimp, so be careful when you order. My friend is allergic to shrimp and had to send his pork dumpling soup back because it has the same filling with shrimp. The limited dim sum offerings are made fresh to order, so we tried the roast pork rice rolls and the fried dough rice rolls. The soy sauce they use is too thin and they should use the sweeter dark soy sauce for the rice rolls. My favorite was the Pan-Fried Shrimp & Green Chive Dumplings and I'm glad they come 6 per plate because I ate half of them. Returning for a group dinner on a separate night was a good idea. Our group of 6 walked up to the restaurant and they were advertising dinner specials in the window that I wanted to take advantage of. $30 for a pair of lobsters (any style) sounds like a good deal. The pair of crustaceans were a little on the scrawny side, but we had them done Cantonese style (w/ minced pork & egg) and the wok hay taste was great. The other special was Fish Lips & Peppers in XO Sauce, which sounds strange but was pretty tasty. Other dishes rounding out dinner were West Lake Beef & Cilantro Soup, Egg Tofu w/ 3 Mushrooms, Scallops & Squid in XO Sauce and Ong Choy (Chinese Water Spinach) w/ Preserved Bean Curd. We also tried a dish of the Beef Chow Fun (dry). It didn't look that great when it came with the rice noodles looking really mushy, but I was pleasantly surprised because it was pretty good. I wouldn't be surprised if they made the rice noodle sheets fresh in-house. My favorite though was the House Special Flower (Manila) Clams. The clams were larger than what you usually get elsewhere and they were cook dry with minced pork which was really good with rice. I might have to try the Rock Snails in Black Bean Sauce next time. My only drawback was that they did not have Peking Duck similar to Wu's Wonton King in Chinatown. Dessert came in the form of Mango Pudding squares (just like at Wu's) and Sweet Pumpkin & Tapioca soup. Don't knock it until you try it! Solid Cantonese seafood restaurant with hearty portions. Restaurant is well lit and clean with a few private rooms by the entrance. Staff was courteous and quick to seat and serve us. Even their black pepper beef and seafood is authentic for Hong Kong style dishes at an affordable price. I came here with my boyfriend's coworkers and we wanted to sample dishes to order catering for his work's Chinese New Year party. The waitress said "3 plates for 5? are you sure?". She brought a waiter over and he proceeded to yell at us "You are only ordering 3 plates? No more ordering after you place this order. Our kitchen is closed." (THIS IS 5:30 PM - why is your kitchen closed???) We confirmed that we wouldn't order more and he proceeded to yell at us again about only ordering 3 plates and stated again that the kitchen is closed. 2 other waiters came by to look at our receipt and talk about how we only ordered 3 plates for the 5 of us to OUR FACE. They assumed that we did not speak Cantonese and laughed about it right in front of us. This is extremely rude and unprofessional as I have never received treatment like this when I was with my (Chinese) family. As other reviews have stated, service was very rushed but weren't as discourteous to the other tables. The food was okay. We ordered their "famous" chicken, beans, and Singaporean noodles. The beans were delicious and the noodles had decent flavor. I did not take a picture of the other two plates that we had. In the picture I have attached, we ordered their "famous" chicken, which turned out to be very dry. It tasted like it was previously cooked, reheated, and reheated again. The food wasn't bad! There's a lot of seafood dishes, and there's a really nice vibe. I definitely suggest getting their seafood if you go here. I am always looking for a good Cantonese restaurant. I read a lot of good yelp reviews and I decided to give a try. The restaurant was bright with a modern decor. the service was excellent. The food was average. The shrimp with the sweet sauce and walnuts was over sauced. The sauce made the shrimp room temperature. We ordered salt and pepper pork and the pork was more fat and bone than pork. The lobster with ginger and scallions needed more ginger. The sautéed snow pea tip were crispy and delicious. The place was packed. Cantonese people know good Cantonese food. I disagree with my my fellow yelpers. The food was average. read more

Had another refreshing meal here! The seafood is so clean and fresh. I loved both the eel and the clams. The eel sometimes gets rubbery, but not here. The meat sauce comes with the clam is really flavorful. I combined the garlic oil from the eel and the meat sauce with the rice, and it's to die for. read more

Located right outside downtown Flushing which makes it a little less crowded and easier to find a parking spot. Friendly and prompt service. We tried the mixed fried rice, Singaporean noodles, lobster, garlic chicken, sweet and sour spare ribs, and tofu. Our dishes came out pretty quickly. Decent sized portions and there was plenty to go around. Lots of large parties here for dinner even on a week night. read more
