We've been going here for some time and I know they don't have the biggest burgers but on our last visit the prez burger was so small it looked like it was swallowed by the wrap it was in, I literally thought my husband took a chunk out of it. But of course the burger has decreased in size over the last 6 months. So sad. They increased their fries portions to try to make up for it. I don't think I'll be back at this location . Maybe I'll try another but for now we're on a break. Look how tiny!!! I could have finished it in 2 large bites
Was looking for an awesome place for a burger. Decided on here. When you walk in you are surprised. It is a small area but busy. There is seating outside but no outside. Service is nothing to write home about. While staff is friendly they do not go out of their way to make the experience amazing. I had lemonade and was good. The place is in an area where there are lots of food places. There a seating upstairs and it was empty when I looked. It was such a nice day everyone wanted to be outside. Burger was good and I like the fresh fries. Would have more stars if staff were more welcoming. If they helped to make sure the customer has a good experience. They asked if I was eating here or to go. Tickets says "for here" and they put in a bag and charge you .5 cents. When questioned they said all orders are put in a bag. So why ask if here or to go?
An extra star for the milkshakes alone! I got the Milky Way Malt which was aptly named and delicious!
I wasn't expecting to have great food so close to the Capitol building, and I wasn't disappointed. The menu's essentially American diner food (burgers and fries) mixed with hot chicken southern food. There are quite a few decadent and intriguing shakes and malts on the menu as well. Everything seems fairly priced, but they don't give much in terms of quantity In terms of flavor, the burgers are about average. The chili is pretty good but it's oddly sweet. I'd pass on the chicken tenders, which are quite bland and dry. They do offer lots of sauces to offset the lack of flavor, which you serve yourself downstairs. There's lots of seating upstairs (30 seats or so), and the entire area is well decorated. I liked the 80s-90s song choices. Bathrooms were clean.
The "good stuff" is that the food is still outstanding. The best things to order are the Prez Obama burger, rosemary and thyme fries, along with their signature Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake which is worth every penny. My fries were a bit greasy this time but I didn't mind since they were so good. Every time I'm in the DC area, it is a go-to place to visit on my trips. I've been coming here since it opened and have brought numerous people there who love the place. The bad news is that the service was horrible. Also many tables could use a good cleaning. The floors were dirty as well. It is such a bummer when the service cannot match the food quality.
I got the black and white milkshake and WOAH was it delicious! It was everything I wanted and needed in the moment. I feel the need to also shout out the staff, they were so kind and enthusiastic in a way that went above and beyond expectation! I went with friends at a sort of off time for meals and there was plenty of seating both inside and outside. And my friends were as impressed with their selections as me. I will be back to try their burgers soon :)
A good friend told me about this place which I've had bookmarked for years. We were walking in the area and stumbled across them. Perfect! ATMOSPHERE: It's a two-level eatery with the ordering counter, kitchen, drink fountain and condiments on the bottom floor. Upstairs are the dining room and restrooms. MENU: Burgers, chicken sandwiches and salads. FOOD: Good Stuff Melt - $9.50 If you're wanting a traditional "mushroom burger", meaning a beef patty topped with mushrooms and onions, this is it. Not to be confused with their "'shroom burger" which is cheese and veggies between two portobello mushroom caps. Lesson aside, the burger was good, with a nice char to the patty, two types of cheese and lots of sautéed mushrooms and onions. Very messy like how a good burger should be. Handcut Fries - $4.25 My niece-in-law, who has eaten here many times before, was surprised at how bad the fries were. All were soggy, with a few being undercooked and raw inside. I texted said friend back home that I was here. Her reply "The Fries!" and "The condiments!" Sadly, I had to break the news to her. I did like the Old Bay dipping sauce, however. SERVICE: Bad and just sad. Sassy, impatient millennials working the counter on the afternoon of 7/30/22. Body language and vocal tone plays a big role in the service industry, oblivious to them, but others take notice. It may seem petty but they're contributing factors to my review and others as well. TIP: They added on a "5% CVD" surcharge. Really? OVERALL: Unpleasant service, good burger, shitty fries. A no return for us.

Popular eatery on the Capital Hill. Usually packed with lunch crowds, it can be very busy sometimes. Prices are reasonable, food decent. I tried: 3*The Prez Burger was served with apple wood bacon, onion marmalade, cheese, and horseradish mayo sauce. The burger was very good but the size was rather small, to my surprise. 3* Raspberry truffle shake: enticed by the picture on the wall, I succumbed and ordered the shake of the month at a weak moment. It was too sweet and rich for me. It must have been packed with more than 1,000 calories. I couldn't finish and only sipped a little. Vegan option available, my friend tried 'SHROOM BURGER" which was made of Organic Portobello.
This is THE MOST HORRIBLE place I've been to in my life. Burnt, overcooked, unmarked, cold food. They had messed up the order and I asked them to remake it. When they remade a few items they overcooked and burnt them. Cooked half the food and kept it under the counter for 30 mins which my mother could see from the upstairs section overlooking the kitchen. She told me the food had been sitting under the counter for over half an hour. A bunch of other customers were super pissed at wrong orders and horribly made food. Please save your money and DO NOT go there. I've left more than half the food after paying $80.00 for it. You're better off going to McDonald's.
Stopped here for a quick lunch while we were walking around the hill during 4th if July week. I had a salad. They forgot my dressing. Nothing to jump up about. My husbands burger was the worst ever. He asked for no onions. And got no anything else. Just a patty on a bun. We don't like to complain so he just ate it. The fries were so oily and soggy. I like my fries minus the oil. Not impressed at all since there are so many good burger joints out there. Kinda over priced for a greasy meal. See photos read more

This is the worst meal i ever had. They mixed up plenty of my order and the customer service was awful, threw my bag, had a attitude and so forth. Please for the sake of yourself and stomach do not order from here, in washington dc good stuff eatery. read more

Good Stuff Eatery is seriously forking out some good stuff. Man is it packed in here. There is outside seating, counter seating, as well as a bunch of tables upstairs. The cashier was quick to take our order. Thanks Yelp family for suggesting the Toasted Marshmallow Shake. It was definitely toasty and I could taste a bit of caramel in it as well. Smooth and creamy. Love at first sip. Tried the Farmhouse Bacon Cheese, the Prez Obama Burger, and Spike's Village Fries. The Farmhouse Bacon Cheese comes with tomatoes, lettuce, pickles and onions. The bun was slightly sweet and buttery. It was squished from the tight packaging. The meat patty was seasoned well and juicy. The Prez Obama Burger comes with bacon, onion marmalade, Roquefort cheese, and horseradish mayo. The sweet bun and onion marmalade, smokey bacon, salty cheese and slight zing from the horseradish mayo made me an instant fan. These burgers may not be the prettiest ones I've ever seen, but it was definitely love at first bite. Spike's Village Fries were packed with fresh thyme and rosemary. As soon as I opened the burger bag I could smell a gush of fresh herbs. There is a complimentary sauce bar on the main floor which includes old bay mayo, sriracha mayo, chipotle mayo, and mango mayo. I'm usually good about eating my packed lunch, but my coworkers invited me out to Good Stuff Eatery and I'm so glad that I joined. There are three locations in the DC/VA area - Capitol Hill, Georgetown, and Crystal City. I ordered the Good Stuff Melt (melted cheddar and muenster, mmm!) combo with fries and a drink and devoured every little bit of it. With fries, you can also grab specialty sauces (Old Bay, chipotle mayo, and good ol' ketchup) to go along with it. Ordering was quick, the food came out within 15 minutes, and there were a few seats available throughout the restaurant. I must've came in on an off day because I had no issues with the wait or timing of the food. I missed out on the Toasted Marshmallow shake but I'll definitely try it out soon since it's not too far from work. read more
Spike always annoys me on those Food Network shows, but I can't deny that this place is awesome. Both the burgers and shakes were great and extremely satisfying. This is a nice spot too - the counter for ordering is downstairs, along with the refillable soda fountains. The upstairs area has plenty of seating, and best of all, a charging station with several outlets for charging your battery-starved iPhones. Anyway, the food is all really delicious. The burgers are of the small, sloppy Shake Shack variety, and I kinda think the one I got was just as good. I got the Colletti's Smokehouse Burger, which consists of bacon, cheddar, onion rings and BBQ sauce. The meat was cooked a perfect medium rare, and was nice and pink without being too bloody. I also like the patties here are way thicker than some of the other burger joints of this style. I usually need to get a double to get any kind of satisfaction, but I was perfectly happy with the single here. The fries are great too - though Spike's Village Fries and Sunny's Handcut Fries are pretty much exactly the same (just pick one), they are all good. Super super greasy of course, which you could tell since the bag they came in was completely see-through, but they were piping hot, very salty, and nice and crispy. Lastly, one of the things it seems like every single person that wrote a Yelp review ordered is the Toasted Marshmallow Shake. I found out that there is a good reason for that, as this shake is great. I definitely think this place has the edge on Shake Shack for shakes. The much bigger variety here is partly what does it for me - instead of just a few vanilla flavors, they have a ton of choices here. I also tried another shake, the Milky Way Malt, which was even better. That was a lot of fat, grease and heavy cream to eat in such a fast meal. But it was well worth the stomachache and was a perfect send-off on my binging food vacation to D.C. read more

On my continuing quest to find my favorite burger in DC, I came and got the Prez Obama Burger, Village Fries, and a toasted marshmallow shake. But let's start with the general vibe. Good Stuff Eatery has ample seating upstairs, with a few bar stools downstairs (although there is no actual bar) and outside seating in front of the restaurant. Plenty of options. The upstairs area, where I sat, is interesting because it has almost a sports bar feel, until you note that political news is on all the TVs and you are reminded that you are in Capitol Hill. The Prez Obama burger comes with an onion marmalade that is good but a bit overbearing and greasy, Roquefort cheese that works well, and a nice horseradish mayo sauce. It comes by default with applewood bacon, but I skipped this since I don't eat pork. The burger itself is good, though not mind-blowing, and it was pretty undercooked. I don't take mine well-done, but this patty was legitimately quite bright on the inside, and they don't ask you how you would like it cooked when you order (a sad departure for boutique burger shops in the District). Like most of their burgers, it comes in a somewhat sloppy package, so focus more on the taste than presentation. Spike's Village Fries are FANTASTIC! Cut to be nether too thin nor too thick, and with a healthy topping of thyme and rosemary. I'm always down for fries with rosemary, so I was already smiling. They are complimented by six or eight different sauces that you can choose from (or choose all of), including chipotle, Old Bay, and mango. The toasted marshmallow shake was deeeelicious. And yep, it tastes just like marshmallows roasted over a campfire! On the whole, I would take Burger Tap & Shake over TKO Burger over this place, but I definitely am not against returning and trying, oh, the Michelle turkey burger. read more
I really liked the food I got at Good Stuff Eatery but I think it's pricey for what you get. I got the steakhouse burger with snack fry and cookies and cream mini shake, and my bill was over $17. However, the quality of the burger and fries makes up for it! When I first saw the burger, it was smaller than what I expected it to be but it was delicious. My friend got the village fries that has fresh thyme, rosemary and seasalt on it which I liked better than the regular fries I got. I didn't know that was an option so you should order the village fries if you want a little bit more seasoning on your fries! I also tried the prez obama burger and it was sooo good. I had to wait awhile after I ordered but I heard that it's usually quicker. Also, they have a lot of options for sauces which I loved. They have ketchup, mustard, old bay, sriracha, and mango (my favorite). I would definitely try the different sauces and see what you like! read more

After a busy morning being tourists at the Capitol and Library of Congress, the food at Good Stuff Eatery is exactly that -- "good stuff". While my fellow introverts may be intimidated by the line and wall of people, it moves relatively quickly and therefore is worth going in for a bite. I ordered the Steakhouse Burger (fried onion strings, mushrooms, and cheese - yes please) while my husband had the Spike's Sunnyside. Getting both as the "good stuff deal" included a drink and fries for a little under $4. While it seems the restaurant is well known for shakes I opted to skip and just indulge in their French fries which are incredibly good. Plus -- dipping sauces! Although it does take a little longer than most Burger type places (think Five Guys, Burger Fi, etc) the wait was worth it as the food definitely hit the spot. read more
Had 2 hours of sleep, really hungry, and needed somewhere to eat fast. We were close to the Capitol building, and we found this joint online after seeing a picture of Obama at it (why wouldn't I eat here). The decor was really folky and old-fashioned, with a little bit of a modern twist--your stereotypical hipster-esque restaurant. The restaurant was filled with the smell of sizzling beef and fries. The menu was fairly simple, with the classic options, and specialty burgers poking fun at politics. I ordered the Prez-Obama Burger, and the food came out in less than 15 minutes (you get an electronic tracker as well). The prez burger was really good. The buns are really soft and buttery, which were comparable to those hawaiian sweet buns. The beef was charred to perfection, and stayed juicy at the same time without drying out. The applewood bacon was sweet and savory, crispy, just the way you would like bacon. The onion marmalade added a tangy twist, while the crumbly Roquefort Cheese was sweet and creamy. The horseradish sauce gave the burger that final kick, but it was really subtle and not overpowering. All the flavors melded well together, and worked perfectly. The fries, however, were a different story. They looked like they were fried to a crispy golden brown, but were left out long enough to become soggy and mushy. They looked like the fries from Five Guys, minus the Cajun seasoning. Overall it was a good burger place and had a really nice atmosphere. 3.5 stars Burger purists will not like Good Stuff Eatery because the beefiness of a good quality patty was lost among a plethora of toppings and sauces . The burger here was fully cooked and placed on a bun that was too small. Some of the toppings like bbq sauce and roquefort cheese were too overpowering for the burger. I would recommend just ordering the regular hamburger or cheeseburger. While the burger was good, it wasn't extraordinary if you already had the pleasure of a Ray's burger. The burger here was like a supporting actor while the milk shake and fries were the stars. The toasted marshmallow shake was so rich and creamy, and the flavor resembled the top caramelized layer of an excellent creme brulee. It was too rich for one person to finish, so sharing is a must. I am a sucker for fries and dipping mayo. I couldn't resist trying all four, which were old bay, mango, sriracha, and chipotle. I couldn't taste much mango flavor in the mayo, but the sweet and slightly sour taste was a welcoming addition to the 3 spicy mayo. My favorite were the sriracha and chipotle mayo. The old bay wasn't very good as the old bay seasoning was too salty to pair with seasoned fries. As for the fries, I loved the rosemary flavor, but they could improve on the cut of the fries and make them more crispy (like Beck's fries). As expected, parking was a pain in the butt even on a weekday night. I would go to this place more just for the fries and milkshake if it was closer to where I live. read more
Decent burger that came out pretty quickly (five guys speed). The patty was decent as was the toppings. Just wish my burger came with lettuce, onions and tomatoes. There is an upstairs with a good amount of seating. Wouldn't go out of my way to come here but is a good choice if in the area. read more

Burger, fries and a milkshake. What's not to like? I was surprised there wasn't much of a wait to order and we easily snagged seats outside on a beautiful spring day. Here's the run down: SPIKE'S SUNNYSIDE - 5, tastes like breakfast, nice medium GOOD STUFF MELT - 5, my boyfriend was so happy after eating this, also cooked medium Toasted Marshmallow Shake - 4, at first, I was a little disappointed as I expected something more smore-like but my boyfriend pointed out to me that it's called marshmallow. We liked it quite a bit but I wish the marshmallow flavor was even more potent as vanilla was the strongest flavor in the mix. Spike's Village Fries - 4, good but too too salty! The sea salt was giant and plentiful. The various sauces helped alleviate this (mango was my fav). Overall 4.5 - rounding up bc I was craving this meal the next day! read more
Last year, this was the first place I went when I arrived to DC. This year, this was my last stop before I went to Union Station. I highly recommend the Obama burger and Spike Village fries. The burger was delicious and prepared to perfection. It was well seasoned and juicy. There were many sauces for the fries...chipotle, mango, old bay and Sriracha. I also ordered the toasted marshmallow shake. Yummy! It was basically vanilla ice cream shake with 3 marshmallows. Delicious! I would definitely come back again. read more
I first gave Good Stuff Eatery a 3 because after many years in DC and many, many, many visits to Good Stuff, I am a little over it. But even after dozens of visits, it still is a DC classic for a very good reason. It really is good stuff. I always get village fries and the President Obama burger and Cherry Coke. They have flavored mayo and the sirachi is amazing (as is the chipotle). I take tourists here and they always fall deeper into love with DC afterwards. If you have room for dessert, get the famous toasted marshmallow milkshake. I am not a fan of milkshakes, but even I think it's good! read more
Oh! Now this is saomething different! It's has been a while since I've been in an eatery anf this was a great reintroduction! I had heard fables of the legendary cult classic burger. Which is said to possess special powers that grant the consumer untold measure of culinary pleasure. It is called the Obama Burger! Now this creation is one of a kind. Much like the man it is named for the burger is very unassuming. It doesn't look huge or anything. But it's what's on the inside that matters. Quality meat, ingredients and topping. Pair that with great fries and an awesome shake and you have a Winning combination! This gives you more than you can ask. An extremely satisfying experience! read more
LOVE their burgers. Got the Michelle burger (yes queen) which was a turkey burger with caramelized onions, this awesome sauce, lettuce and tomato on a whole wheat healthy looking bun. If you're a tourist, go here, you won't regret it. If you're a local, go here, you won't regret it; you'll probably return ;-) You know they don't play with their meats when you're asked, "How would you like your burger cooked?". Although, a fast food spot, Good Stuff prides itself on quality. There's a variety of burgers that are locally sourced and made to perfection. The pricing is reasonable and the food is worth the wait time. I've had a few of their shakes and burgers in the past, and have no complaints. The onion petals are so, so. I'd give them a hard pass and get the fries instead. Next you'll be faced with the "dilemma" of traditional french fries, or the Village fries. I facetiously put dilemma in quotation marks, because the choice is a no brainer for me (traditional duh). The Village fries are good if you're into rosemary. Clearly I'm not, so after the first time I made the regretful decision of getting the Village fries, I learned to k.i.s.s. (Keep it simple stupid) There are also veggie options, as well as chicken and turkey burgers for my non-beef eaters reading this (yes, Good Stuff did not neglect you). The decor plays on politics, which fits perfectly with the location, so it's only right, and some of the burger names also give a nod to political figures like Obama (heard of him? Lol). Came here with high expectations...yet I'm kinda of disappointed with the presentation and the quality of fries. My friends and I decided to grab a lunch at this place since it's not far from US Capitol. The ordering line moved relatively fast, so did our food. I got the Farmhouse Cheese. I was quite excited to try this because I totally forgot when was the last time I had a real legit burger. However, as soon as the prize revealed, the burger bun already became soggy and mushy because of the sauce and the patty fat. The flavor and quality of patty were considerably spot on. My friend really liked the Shroom Burger though. For the fries, they were like the ones which had been sitting under a food warmer. Definitely not crispy or fresh enough. They were too salty as well... After trying this place, I miss the burger and fries from Shake Shack. read more

It was sweltering hot, the outside temp this particular day was 99 degrees. Inside it must have been 98. I had the Turkey Burger which was OK, the snack fries were oily, soggy and tasted terrible. In the upstairs dining room, you get some relief from the stifiling heat generated in the kitchen. Many tables and chairs and HD TV's as well. read more
Their burgers are good, but I come for the milkshakes because I can't finish both. The go to shake is their toasted marshmallow shake. It comes with a toasted marshmallow right on top. Its a good idea to give their limited special shakes a try. So far, my favorite seasonal shake has been Bananas Foster. This location is only a couple blocks from Eastern Market station, which is convenient. Evening street parking isn't usually a problem, either. I go to the Georgetown and Crystal City locations also. All of them are in fun, popular hangout areas. I love the late hours, because that seems to be when my craving strikes. read more

In a place like DC, I try to eat at local places (or at least places I can't visit at home) as much as possible. The Washington Post recommended this place for a cheap burger, so off I went for dinner one night. After ordering and getting my drink, I received a buzzer and grabbed a seat in the upstairs seating area. When the food was ready, I was buzzed and I was ready to eat. There was a large assortment of sauces available for the taking at the condiment station; I grabbed ketchup and Old Bay for my fries. The Colletti's Smokehouse burger I ordered was piled high with onion rings, but it was quite greasy and the bun didn't hold up well to the barbecue sauce it was doused with. The fresh-cut fries were relatively soggy, but there were a lot of them. Overall, the burger tasted pretty similar to Shake Shack and it was as overpriced, IMO. If I'm dropping $14 on a burger, fries, and soda, it better be a darn good burger, and I could have gotten a better meal at Five Guys for less money. Is it a decent burger? Yes. Would I go out of my way for it? Certainly not. read more
Giving these guys 4 stars is kind of unfair because this is a burger joint and I don't do burgers. I DO do milkshakes, however. HANDSPUN milkshakes! When I tell you that I'm really not supposed to do dairy and I try to steer clear as much as I can but I will fight a baby to get an Oreo Cookie and Cream...believe that! It's January (it was December 28th when I checked in) and it is COLD right now. 4° in Boston, 17° in the DMV but what did I get? A milkshake because THAT's how good it is. So thick and sweet.
