I ordered the taste of Philly sandwich. Under the sandwich and French fries were piles of Chocolate. All over my sandwich and on the bottom fries had chocolate. I told the manager she said most likely the cook had chocolate on their gloves as they make a lot of Chocolate chip pancakes. So I guess they do not change gloves. I talked to the owner Mark (who was far from friendly) and he said no it's because they use the same grill for buns and chocolate chip pancakes, (so cross contamination on a work surface.) I guess they do not clean the grills either. Still does not explain how my plate was coated in it or how it got all over my fries. The plate looked dirty like it somehow missed the dishwasher after the last guest. Mark was very rude and just walked away while I was talking to him. This was our first time trying Goodfella's. I ordered a three egg DENVER omelet and my husband ordered pancakes with a side of hash browns and sausage. Food was great except my hash browns were golden brown and husbands were barely cooked which is why 4/5 stars. The pancakes, sausage patty and omelet are fantastic! The menu is not as italian-themed as you'd expect from the sign and the name, the food is perhaps a cut above hospital cafeteria, and the waitstaff were every bit as eager to be there as the staff at the vi were. The prices are comparable to other more vibrant restaurants in the area. This may all be a matter of a new place getting their feet under them, and I will certainly give this place another chance. And if it is better, I'll review again. But if they don't perk it up - the staff, the food quality, the menu in general - they're not going to be there very long. read more

NO STARS!!! Been in twice Worst Food and service ever LINDA. She is def burnt out on her job! Bad attitude, could never find her and she never checked back after dinner was delivered. Ordered the special of BBQ for 14.95. The ribs were awful. Old product. Was only given 2 ribs one small chicken breast and kielbasa. Wasn't offered dinner roll or salad. Just horrible time. The other waitress took care of all our needs. We had to order refills of our coke, the syrup was going out and tastes terrible. Linda only replaced one drink, and on our way out brought the other. We just went to Goodfella's for the first time yesterday. It was hard to decide what we wanted for lunch because all of the plates coming past us looked so good. I decided on the chile rellenos plate and was not disappointed. The rellenos were crispy and the green chile sauce was the perfect spice level. There was more food than I could eat. The baked goods looked so good, I only wish we had a left a little room to try some of them. Maybe next time. I also wanted to mention the friendly wait staff. Meh. That sums it up, frankly. Nothing special here. I hate writing reviews like this for local places, but it's just the facts. This is one of those 'Cosco' restaurants. Big huge food distribution companies have 'packages' that allow people to open a restaurant by checking off the box. They then deliver low cost food in quantity to these low/middle quality places by the thousands across America. It's why you can get a meat filled omelette for $5-6. The quality of that 'meat' is more than a little suspect. Another way to tell if it's one of those "Industrial Food" kind of restaurants is to take a look around and do a quick estimate of the BMI of the average customer. I would give this place an average of 33-38. (over 30 = obese). It was not pretty. Anyway, this is one of those restaurants. Clever name, though. I'll give them that. Rating wise, it's a 2 star place for quality, BUT, the service (at least for me) was excellent. Waitresses really do care and they rock it. So that's worth a star, giving them a 3. Will I go back? Unlikely. Would I refuse to go if a friend wanted to meet there, no, but I'd try to get them to try City Cafe, Leenies or a dozen other 4-5 star places (Longmont has plenty nowadays) instead. read more

Went back there today got there a couple minutes after 11. We where seated right away tea was good for (unsweet). Ordered the biscuits and gravy and ultimate burrito. OMG that was the worse biscuits and gravy I have ever had. the burrito was smothered had an ok flavor but was way to spicy, Ulcer so I try and avoid spicy food more then just mild. Had a waitress that pretend to be a manager and came over and then just toke the biscuits off the ticket and still charged for the inedible on the ticket. Then when she went back to the kitchen she was talking crap. we where seated in line of sight of the kitchen. I live about 5 blocks from this place and will never go back !!! My husband and I went to Goodfellas around 10:30am on a Saturday. When we arrived, the place was packed and we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. The restaurant was uncomfortably hot and humid, and I found myself wishing we'd gone somewhere else. We got our drinks quickly, but the waitress didn't come take our order for a long time. The menu isn't all that extensive, so it didn't take us long to figure out what we wanted. When the waitress finally came to take our order, my husband asked if he could get over-easy eggs with the special instead of scrambled eggs, but the waitress said, "We keep trying to get them to let us do that, but they won't allow substitutions." While we waited for our order, I went back out to the car to get something (around 11am), and I noticed that the lobby didn't have people waiting anymore, and even the parking lot had empty spaces (we'd been hard-pressed to find one when we arrived), so we must have arrived right at the peak time. The food took ridiculously long. I had thought about ordering the German pancake, but the menu said "allow extra time," which I didn't want to do. But it took so long to get our order anyway, I found myself thinking I might as well have ordered the pancake. But then the waitress brought one out to the table next to us, and I was suddenly grateful that I had not. The pancake was on a plate that was much too small for it, and it draped over onto the waitress's hand. Once she put the plate down, the pancake draped onto the table. Eww. Finally our order arrived. I got the "ultimate breakfast burrito" and my husband got chicken fried steak with over-easy eggs and home fries, and with a biscuit and gravy on the side (see the photos I uploaded). My burrito was kind of bland, and though I'd ordered it with sausage (you have a choice), it had chorizo instead. The combination of gravy and green chili was a little odd, but not bad. The gravy was spicier than I'd like, but my husband liked it. Overall, my burrito was okay, but nothing special. My husband really liked his chicken-fried steak, and he commented that the eggs were done perfectly. The home fries were slightly overcooked. He said his biscuit was okay, but not the best. His toast was cold, and came (skimpily) pre-buttered in the middle only, with no additional butter on the table. Couldn't get the waitress's attention to get more. My top compliment on this restaurant was that the hostess was extremely bubbly and friendly. I liked her a lot. If I went back, I'd probably give that chicken-fried steak a try. But the restaurant was just so hot, the service so bad, and the food so mediocre, I probably wouldn't go there again unless my husband really wants to. read more

Service lacked basic skills. After we were seated, it took at least 10 minutes to be greeted. We asked multiple times for glasses of water, and only received it after my friend went to the station and poured us water. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with over medium eggs. One egg yolk came out broken, and the the "over medium egg" should have hardly been considered over easy. It's never appetizing to eat cold eggs when the egg white is still clear. Besides the whole dish being served cold, the upside was the sausage didn't suck (probably because they weren't responsible for making it). I didn't even have a chance to send the food back because our waitress never came back to serve us. Would never recommend. read more

This place is close to my house, so I have eaten in here about 4 times so far. I have been really pleased with the service and the food quality each time. I go with breakfast stuff- pancakes, eggs, bacon. Food comes out fast, they keep my coffee cup full. What else can ya ask for? Portion sizes are big, and everything is tasty. My husband and I decided to try this newly opened restaurant. We walked in to Goodfellas and noticed a new color scheme from vi but it still had the funky, stale vi odor. It was Sunday evening about 6:45pm. There were only about 8-10 parties in the entire place. We noticed an over abundance of staff. There were at least 6 waitstaff and 3 bussers. We sat In a booth and I had a view of all the crumbs that were under the counter. You would have thought that a couple of staff could have been cleaning. One of the bus staff was wearing an Aunt Alice's t-shirt which I thought was strange. When I opened my silverware it was dirty. I used my husband's since he ordered a hamburger. His knife was dirty but the fork seemed to be ok. My husband liked his burger. I had a cheesesteak and it was flavorful and on a good bun. The fries were good diner fries. Our wait staff was responsive and nice. My rating is low because of the dirty floor under the empty counter and the dirty silverware. And they need to clean the ventilation system to get the funky smell out. read more

I wanted to like this place. I was hoping the cute, nice waitresses would bring me delicious food and fresh homemade jams and baked goods. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The food is ok, the jams are made with high fructose corn syrup and that homemade, down-home feeling just wasn't there. It wasn't bad, the pie is actually very good. If they bake and make pie why do they have butter in packets and smuckers jams? Would your grandma do that? I really think more fresh local ingredients would do the trick. Not to mention a lady was refilling the Ice tub (the Ice that goes in YOUR glass) with a bus tub (the black ones that are used for dirty dishes). I've worked in restaurants and that is grosssss. I am awarding 5 stars as for what Goodfella's is - it is as good as it gets! This place was just opened by the owner of Aunt Alice's Restaurant & his son. Some of the menu familiar, much of it new offerings including build your own pizza, a 1/2 lb buffalo burger for $9, breakfast all day, fried chicken, Italian, Mexican, all kinds of sandwiches and burgers.. They have an onsite bakery, doing their own desserts and buns, etc. If you are used to the fantastic value offered at Alice's, you'll be glad you stopped in at Goodfella's. EDIT: I've been back... I need to dial back the 5 star after a disappointing burger with few, appraching cold fries. I went back again and had the cheese steak, which was an odd creation with more cheese than steak. Again, the side of fries was too small. Please get back to the quality and servings that I had when I first tried Goodfellas! Go check out Taste of Philly in Boulder. Their steaks are pretty good. At least you'll know what you are aiming for. BTW - thin sliced roast beef from king supers works better than steak-ums. I will remove / change this review when things change.. read more

Horrible! Cold eggs, uncooked hash browns, hard, cold toast! When I complained at the register, I told them it was terrible. They apologized and basically said their hands were tied by the cooks. I have been a waitress in the diner situation ruled by the cooks being jerks! I get their frustration. I feel like the brunt of complaints in these reviews could be avoided by a good management team sitting down with their back of house staff. And if they can not come to an easy solution, there are plenty of people out there willing to take on that roll! Goodfella's has the best omelet I've ever eaten, hands down! I was an over-the-road truck driver for a few years and I've been to many diners and I've had many different omelets but this one was the best ever. We had been visiting family in Longmont and decided to grab breakfast before heading out on the road to come home. I stared at the menu for a few minutes and found several things I wanted but then remembered I only had one stomach, so I went with the Works Omelet with hash browns. It did take a little while for our order to arrive, but it was Sunday morning and we were a party of 6, so that was probably on point. The first thing I did was cut into my omelet and take a bite. Me & my boyfriend stopped by on Christmas Eve morning for some breakfast on our Christmas trip. When we got there it wasn't very full, took about 10 minutes to get seated. The bus boy was great, he rapidly grabbed us some drinks. However, me and my boyfriend sat around for about 10-15 minutes and our server never showed, we saw other tables get seated, get their drinks and their server got there right away!!! That's when we decided to get up and leave, I feel like the servers didn't want to take our order because of the color of our skin, all the other customers in the establishment were white. It was very disappointing watching everybody that was clearly seated after us get attended while we sat there and waited... we did have one server pass by after she saw us sitting there just to tell us that our server would be there in a bit, yet more time passed by and she didn't show and not any other server bothered to get our order. I would never return here, way to ruin the Christmas spirit for us. Keep in mind that I worked in the restaurant industry as a server for a long time so we tip great, and we are very patient & understanding but to see something like this play out in front of us/happen to us was sad. I am writing again to say that I am extremely satisfied with the specials offered at Goodfella's. There is always something hot and delicious to warm you up on a cold day. I got the pulled pork sandwich and fries and it really hit the spot. I also got a cup of the creamy potato soup. Both were great. The fries were tasty and crisp. The waitress brought the sauces I wanted and didn't let my cup empty. Overall, good food and great service. I will definitely be back. By the way, my wife and I were talking about how much we liked their Navy Bean soup. Even though I sometimes don't like beans, this soup is awesome. Goodfella's is the only diner I have found in Colorado that approaches the diner expectations of someone from the East coast. These expectations for a good diner include: promptness of the waitress, cleanliness, good tasting food made fast and served hot, and hot basic coffee with endless, attentive refills. Goodfella's can be hit or miss depending on the cooks and the waitresses. 8 out of 10 times the food has been hot, cooked right, and tasty. The other times whomever the cook was screwed up the food badly, over cooked, cold, missing ingredients, etc. The waitress can be friendly and efficient, or others can annoy with low-class 'dummy-talk' and cloying put-on friendliness. Prompt service, genuiness, fast refills of coffee, and the efficiency of most waitresses here approaches East coast standards, which is a good thing. A waitress that gets hopping on serving my paying mouth is what counts for me. What makes this place for me is that most of the time I will have a good meal, cooked right, and super hot out of the kitchen in under 5 minutes. The proficiency of the cooks much of the time is excellent. No other restaurant or diner in Colorado that I've visited can touch the speed with quality of this place when the good cooks are in the house. When I say cooked right here are examples of what I mean: the over-easy eggs don't have any crust or brown on them, they're runny, hot and fresh exactly how I like them; the pancakes are hot off the grill with a big side of butter; the fruit was prepared the same day; bacon is hot and yummy; coffee is hot; omelet is big and tasty and not over-cooked, french fries are served scorching hot and so are the burgers. If you are craving a diner, this place is the only place in the area that makes the cut (most days). read more

Ugh!! Went here for a late lunch today.. First off, the fries were disgusting!! They were by far the worst I've ever had! The "cheesesteak" consisted of steakums.. BARF! Seriously, it's 2013, if your still using uber processed filler meat for your sami's, you should resort to franchising a subway! My lunch partner got a burger that he had sent back multiple times. Dinner was great and dessert was a nice finish to the meal. The staff was from Aunt Alice's due to the fire putting Aunt Alice's out of business for a few weeks. Service and food were both great. Just a bit closer to home for us. I think of it as comfort food and love to have a restaurant that offers it for us. I had a 1/3 lb. burger and my Mom had pancakes, ham and bacon. When they first opened, we LOVED going there, staff was super friendly, food was good, was worth the wait at times on Sunday. Well, not this past Sunday... The last few times, we have noticed the staff looking unhappy, the hostess has the worst grouchy face, unless it's a personal friend of hers. First the hostess completely ignores me as I'm standing IN LINE, she's trying to take the name of the person BEHIND me, mind you I'm not a tall person, still deserve to be treated like a person. A table became available, she offered it to 2 different groups, again BEHIND me, so I finally said: "Excuse me" and still she completely ignored me. I turned to my husband that was sitting on a bench and said: I'm totally invisible today? I know she heard me and still did not even make eye contact. She says: I have a table for 2 anyone wants it? I said loud: I've been trying to take it but you were ignoring me. Nothing, no: oh, I'm sorry, or anything. super rude. We get to order, I should mention that we don't recognize any serving staff anymore, they change constantly. Our waitress comes back with 2 plates that are not ours, she almost was arguing with us, but finally realized she has the wrong table. Wait more, our plates finally arrive. My toast was cold, not warm, cold, both my husband and I poke at our food, and all was cold, you can tell it had been sitting there. After 5 minutes, we eventually spot our waitress, and mention it, she says: Oh, sorry, they're really backed up back in the kitchen! To that, my husband respond: "How can the kitchen being backed up cause our food to be cold when it comes out?" (all of us knowing it was her that didn't pick up the plates in time and now was blaming the kitchen staff), she gives us the attitude face, and takes our plates away. I'm not making this up, the plates came back 4 minutes later, and all had been NUKED in the microwave !!! Eggs were now all crusted, only my toast was fresh, everything else on both our plates had been microwaved, WHO DOES THAT. Not once did she come back to ask how our food was either. Our family goes there often enough that my husband recognized the gentleman at the cash register as either the manager or the owner, we tried to get eye contact, or wait for him to ask when he passes if everything was ok, nothing. Also worth mentioning was how the waitress (maybe several) had their areas split up between inside and outside making it impossible for them to keep tabs on their tables. We wait in line to pay at the register, which is always a big mess people try to put their names on the waiting list, and the other side trying to pay to leave. He does not ask anything to my husband, just takes the bill, swipe the credit card, not even a smile or ask anything, UNTIL he notices that my husband leaves a 1$ tip, then he said hope everything was ok, my husband respond, no, actually it was terrible! And NOTHING, not even why? What happened?: Was it the food? I'm sorry, NOTHING. Not only we will not go back, but I will make sure when everyone's asking us, our employees, our friends, where to get breakfast in Longmont that I tell them to NOT go there. Food ok, service horrible, ethics the WORST. Don't worry, I'm also making sure to share on my social media. I've gotten various omelets, benedicts, the German pancake, steak and eggs etc. So I can't speak much for the rest of the menu besides the breakfast section but everything I've tried is delicious. Saw Goodfellas on the news for the first time. My husband and I were impressed with the owner and his honesty as well as his service to the community. We are always looking for locally owned businesses to support, so we gave it a try --we will be returning. Knowing it is housed in the old Village Inn building we weren't sure what to expect. It was great to see the clean, fresh appearance and all the smiling staff when we entered. We were quickly greeted by their friendly host and seated comfortably in the corner. They had TV's throughout the restaurant with various shows (the one in our line of sight was the baseball game, which made my husband particularly pleased-LOL). Once we were seated our server introduced himself and informed us of the nights specials. He was assisted by a younger boy, whom I would guess was a busser. It was great to see the two of them working together to tend to us throughout our meal. It isn't a practice you see much anymore (the bussers having more interaction with the customer) and I actually really enjoyed it. He was a pleasant young man who looked to be enjoying his job. We lucked out and it happened to be a Mexican themed night. My husband and I as well as our two children basically licked our plates clean! It was all we could do to make room for their amazing house made sopapilas! To be honest, after seeing them in the news our interests were perked but after reading some of the other reviews on here we were a little resistant. I can't help but feel there are many "reviews" on here that are intended to only cause harm to the restaurant. All I have to say to those people is shame on you. Longmont needs more places like Goodfellas and it's owner! Why people can't be happy for them and wish them well is beyond me! As you read in my review, my family and I had a great experience. Does that mean we will everytime we return? Maybe not...everywhere has good nights and bad. Will be continue even after a bad experience? Absolutely!.
