Stopped here for lunch! So glad we came. The food and service were amazing! We had turkey, bacon,, and sausage for our bbq meats. All were on point. Right amount of smoke and very tender. Mac and cheese, chili, greens, and candied sweet potato were bomb! Our meal was finished off with homemade banana pudding. I wish this place was closer to where we live. So, I've been here over a dozen times in the last two years. I'm going to give this place five stars for the candied bacon. The portions are decent, the prices are a little expensive (and currently there's a 15% increase per item due to the pandemic), but not ridiculous. The staff are friendly and well-trained. The next time you're in Blackstone, Massachusetts, you HAVE to go to Goodstuff Smokehouse. . .OK, let's be honest, no one ever "happens to be" in Blackstone. It's out of the way, for sure, but it is absolutely, 100 percent worth the trip for some of the tastiest barbecue you'll find in the Bay State. Because we're still mired in the COVID-19 crisis, this is a review of a takeout meal. I was impressed by Goodstuff on so many levels. First, the mere act of placing a takeout order was delightful--there was no wait on the phone, the employee who took my order was extremely nice, and I received a text when it was ready only 10 minutes later. Being half-starved, I was very pleased with the quick time window. Now on to the food. I ordered brisket, pulled pork, pit beans, coleslaw, and cucumber salad, and the order came with a piece of cornbread. I'll start there--the corn bread was fantastic. It was springy to the touch, not dry and crumbly, and the flavor was lightly sweet. The bread was perfectly moist and disappeared far too fast. I was further impressed by the rest of the sides. The beans were delicious. They are cooked in a very thick sauce, which I was afraid would be too sweet and molasses heavy, but it was very well balanced with a hint of sweetness and plenty of smoky flavor. I'm not a fan of runny beans, so these were a real treat. The coleslaw was great, too. It had a very nice ratio of dressing to cabbage and it was very well-seasoned. The cucumber salad wasn't anything special, but I didn't expect it to be. I just ordered it to up my veggie intake. Now, about that meat. In one word: stupendous. I was so impressed. The order came with three different sauces and I ignored them all because the pulled pork and brisket were so moist and delicious on their own that saucing them up would have been a crime. I opted for the lean cut of brisket (they offer a fatty cut, too) and it was so tender I didn't need a knife to cut it. The flavor was very rich and the slices were the perfect thickness. The pulled pork was wonderful, too, with bits of bark mixed in. Again, no sauce needed. I could taste the smoke in every bite. It was perfectly seasoned with a slight saltiness that was addictive. The portion was great, too, big enough that I didn't leave feeling hungry. This is legit barbecue, people. They know what they're doing at Goodstuff Smokehouse. It's out of the way, but definitely worth the trip if you're looking for perfectly smoked meats, and serious sides that are far more than just an afterthought. read more

The name of the restaurant says it all!! I had the brisket sandwich (fatty over lean) and it melted in my mouth and was not too fatty. The bold sauce worked perfectly with it as well! Went here on 12/13/19 after opening my Yelp app and looking for something new.....I would recommend it if you have a hankering for some BBQ ! I had the Brisket and my wife had Pulled Pork and they both were good. We tried 4 sides and I definitely recommend the French Fries! The one side that fell kind of flat was the Mac n Cheese, I thought it left something to be desired. The decor was nice and the service was prompt and friendly, definitely worth a visit. read more

Very disappointed we drove 35 mins for this place. We got two family meals and they were less than average. The cucumbers were doused in vinegar and I actually choked on the strong taste and my wife did too. The ribs were poor cuts of stale meat and little meat at that. The brisket was good and the cornbread was the best part of the meal. I could have gone to Market Basket if I wanted good cornbread. Not worth the trip even if I lived close by. read more

Goodstuff Smokehouse is solid. We dined on a recent weekend evening and had no problem getting a table after 7 pm. The selection of meats and sides are what you would expect from a BBQ joint for the most part. No St. Louis ribs, however. But they do have items like smoked turkey which is unusual. And the bbq sauces left a bit to be desired. They weren't particularly distinctive. Also, there's no Carolina mustard sauce available; so if that's your thing, you're out of luck. What is UNCOMMON and OUTSTANDING is the house made pastrami! Wow. This cut was full of flavor and delicious. This unique pastrami alone is worth a visit. As a bonus, there are a large variety of sides which are on the hefty side - much appreciated. We'll be returning soon to try the pastrami sandwiches. Yum! read more

Visited Goodstuff on an early Sunday afternoon. It wasn't super busy but there were people in and out. The restaurant had a nice country bbq feel to it. I had the smoked bacon wrapped meatloaf with onion strings and candied sweet potatoes. My girlfriend had pulled pork with mac&cheese. If I could do it over, I also would have gotten the pulled pork, it was awesome. The meatloaf was good it lacked something that I can't quite put my fingers on. I really wanted the burger with a waffle bun but it wasn't on the menu that day. My sweet potatoes and onion strings were really good. It did seem really expensive tho. Don't order soda to go. It had a funny taste to it and while you got a lot it was like $5-6 for a to-go fountain soda which I think is somewhat crazy. read more

Hubby and I decided to take a trip for dinner. It always smells so good out in the parking lot... it really does draw you in! Really cute place... the decor is done nicely... looks like pallets on the wall. They also sell Kettle corn in the front and they have homemade root beer! So I wasn't super hungry so I ordered two apps.. the candied bacon and the cheese curds. The candied bacon looks really cool... an egg in the middle and bacon pieces arranged around the plate. I really wanted to love this because i just love candied bacon. I have to say it was tough. I couldn't cut it and I couldn't chew it well. Also, I probably should have requested to cook the egg a bit more for mine... there was a layer of uncooked white goo that I don't like at all. Oh well. The cheese curds were good... came out hot with a good dipping sauce. My 8 year old ate a bunch of them. So hubby ordered pastrami, a half chicken and brisket. The pastrami was DEE LISH OUS ! I would come back just for that. Really, really tender and flavorful. The chicken was okay... a little on the dry side and the brisket was also very tender, but not as flavorful at the pastrami. Overall it was a good meal. We'll be back to order some different things next time. I'd like to try the pulled pork and some of the other apps. Oh also, their collard greens were so tasty. We live right down the street, which is super convenient. We have eaten in and ordered takeout and the food is always great. My favorite is the pulled pork sandwich with extra coleslaw! Our favorite appetizers are the wings (which don't even need sauce in my opinion, they are so yummy) and the candied bacon. The service is always great, even when we've come in with a large party. This restaurant has never failed us over the past few years and it did not tonight. We ordered a rack of the Boston ribs, the wings, chopped bbq, brisket, and ofcourse a number of sides and Cornbread. The bbq meats are cooked perfectly here and are delicious! The homemade sauces add whatever level of tang or heat you desire. The co reviewer enjoyed her Manhattans and I love their homemade rootbeer! By far one of the best tasting rootbeer in the Northeast. The restaurant is clean and comfortable and has a modern bbq shack theme. The place is always busy on the weekends but we have never waited long to be seated. The service is always very good and pleasant. Ofcourse we will be back but next time I may try the prime rib, the description sounded delicious. read more

I'm honestly not a huge fan of barbecue! I'm actually not a fan at all. But I was blown away after walking into this adorable barbecue restaurant. I love the ambiance and decor here- especially the back bar and the way they have the beer taps set up- really unique! My family ended up splitting a meal with each other and we got cole slaw and macaroni and cheese as a side (for my son) and I didn't really enjoy either. The pulled pork was good and tender but a tad salty. I ended up ordering a Seasonal Sangria in which the bartender recommended to me as sweet and tasted like Cinnamon- great advice- it was amazing ! The only New England BBQ meat I enjoy is Pulled Pork because of how tender it is so this isn't really the best place for me to review because I'm a bit bias. However there are a ton of meat options including brisket, burnt ends, chicken, prime rib, turkey, steak, pulled pork, etc. So although the food here isn't my favorite (not due to flavor or lack thereof but preference). I still gave 5 stars because of how impressed I was with our waitress, the friendliness of ALL of the staff member's,the ambiance/decor, the tap wall and bar in the back corner was so rustic-so cute! The waitress we had was super sweet, attentive and caring. She made sure to cater to my young son by getting creative with the lid and creating a makeshift sippy cup (much appreciated)! Actually all of the female staff there was surprisingly pleasant & smiled at me. I felt all positive vibes by all the females in here- which is the opposite of what I tend to experience. We went to yelp to see a new BBQ and saw this place. It's in a plaza and floor to ceiling windows and what a great vibe as soon as you walk in. The menu is simple original and sooooo much MEAT I ordered the beef rib which is steak on a rib and sooooo juicy. I picked it off with a fork. The max&cheese is shells with some yummy cheese all over it and ononion strings with flavor and hot temp not hot spicy. Hubby got pulled pork ( so juicy) and pastrami that was so thick and smoky ! Cole slaw sweet and beans great Corn bread high and fluffy 3 choices of BBQ SAUCE I liked the sweet Lucky was our delightful server and she has the best laugh. It was okay. I enjoyed the pulled pork, but that's pretty hard to mess up. My mom gave me one of her ribs, which was also pretty good. I wasn't a fan of the burnt ends, though, which was a big disappointment, since they were the main reason I drove an hour to try this place out. They were HUGE, but they were WAY too sweet. I had to force myself to eat them, and even then I had to leave half of my last one (again, they were VERY big, so that's about the size of one normal burnt end). I'm also not a fan of their homemade BBQ sauce, or their root beer. Despite my complaints, I'm still giving this place 4 stars. The staff was friendly and helpful, and I'm sure I would have had no complaints about my dinner (aside from the sauce and root beer, which aren't really a big deal in comparison) if I had just ordered the pulled pork, and maybe the ribs or brisket. The fries (which there were a LOT of) we're also pretty good. It's surprising that not many restaurants seem to realize that a bit of black pepper on them can make such a big difference. read more
