On our way back to NY after visiting Chicago for the weekend, we stopped here as we waited to be boarded for our flight by Gate B3 in O'Hare Airport. We arrived at about 4:30pm on a Monday and the place was jam packed but luckily we were able to sit at a small cramped bar thing facing the wall. One of the waitress was arguing with the customers and speaking loudly about what happened to a co worker of hers by the bar. All I can say is, RUDE. Thankfully she wasn't our server, someone much more pleasant and friendly was and came over to assist us. I understand this is an airport and all BUT $9 and some change for a Bud Light?!?! Pricey much..but my boyfriend and I ordered one each and decided to split the Classic Burger which was also a bit pricy ($15). Our drinks came out fast and surprisingly our food did too. The burger wasn't anything special but it did the job for a quick meal before boarding the plane back home. All it consisted of was cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions and spicy chipotle sauce and fries. It wasn't bad, cooked as I ordered it so that was the least I could ask for being that it was so crowded in there. There was barely any standing room by the bar to order a drink. If it wasn't that we were looking for a place near by our gate to have a drink and a quick bit to eat, we probably wouldn't have come. In short: For being inside one of the craziest airports in the nation, this place isn't that bad. The prices are high, the food is mediocre, and the service isn't anything above and beyond. But you know what, it gets the job done. In detail: It was a bit busy when I was there (around 4pm) and I sat myself at one of the high top tables near the corner. At first I was worried I wouldn't get served because no one greeted me when I walked in or seemed to acknowledge my sitting down. On the contrary, I was greeted within a few minutes, and the rest of my service was relatively timely and pleasant. I got the Chicago Dog which was tasty but not super hot. Same with the fries. I'd stop here again if I was in this terminal but it's nothing to write home about. read more

ORD is the worst. I know it, you know it, Chicago knows it. So how do you cope with a long layover in an airport that has a person-to-chair ratio of about 200:1? Drink a beer. A local beer. That means slightly overpriced brews with sports on the TVs and a small menu of pub fare. The food is perfectly average (non-offensive and unremarkable). But you're not here for the food, you just need a beer. A local beer. They have a line-up of the usual suspects (pale ale, IPA, stout), but try the "vintage" ales, like Sofie or Matilda, for a unique treat. read more

I arrived at a chaotic time for the staff with no beers on tap other than Bud Light. No indications why but as they scurried around they didn't bother with service unless heavily prompted. The Bud Light was moderately chilled, but served in a warm glass, and the fish and chips were very bad - cold, unsalted, fries and the fish looked to be from a frozen grocery store kids packet. I kind of think I should have gotten a toy with the meal. Bad beer, bad food, bad service, and over-priced. Also, I can't leave without mentioning the terrible EuroPop/Techno blaring through a speaker high on a shelf. Avoid if possible. read more

I don't like handing out 1 star reviews.I usually choose my dining experiences wisely and don't visit 1star places. But it's the airport and I love craft beer. As compared to other bars in the airport, this one had bigger tv's. That was a plus. The goose island beers tasted fresh. Another plus. But the nearly 10 bucks per beer price tag made me feel like I was paying stadium prices. I could have bought a case of beer for the 3 beers I drank that day. I probably wouldn't have even bothered reviewing this place, but the old bartender was so ignorant that I had to. He was complaining about the football games (on Sunday) saying nobody tips and we should just turn the games off so everyone leaves. He was spouting other nastiness too. I heard him giving an Asian customer a hard time over something that was clearly due to a language barrier. The bartender said he was from Beirut so I would expect him to be a bit more tolerant. When first arriving in Chicago for a long layover I was so excited to see a Goose Island Brewery. I love the idea of having "local" beer. I was well over the place by the time I got back to Chicago for my layover home. The selection was so tiny! Their brewery is based out of Chicago so they should seriously be going deep into their brew list. The bar and restaurant were tight quarters and the wait staff was indifferent. I had a Matilda when I arrived for the first time and an IPA to close out my trip. Meh. They were no fresher than the brews I get in Philly. You can really see the corporate takeover at work. The bar was rampant with fruit flies. On the plus side, it's convenient to terminal L and it is a bar. They also didn't yell at me or my husband for eating outside food (leftovers from San Diego...yum). read more

When you want good beer and you're stuck in O'Hare Terminal 3, head to Goose Island. It's a lot of bar seating, some sports on the tele, and views of planes. Not too bad. The food menu seems pretty interesting - salads, sammies and panini. However, it was found out that the panini are pre-made and then nuked. Kinda "understandable" considering they don't have a full kitchen, but I wouldn't ever order food from here. Beer's good though. read more

We arrived at our terminal and gate with plenty of time to spare so Joe R and I decided to grab a "happy vacation, we are going to Puerto Rico!!" pre-flight beverage. Goose Island was the closet to our gate so we stopped in and sat at the bar. We were the only people at the bar, and there were maybe 6 other people total sitting at the tables. We ordered 2 screwdrivers.... that's orange juice and vodka. One of the two drinks wasn't even full; there was a good inch of space that should have been drink. We brushed it off, thinking maybe they ran out of juice??? Anyway, drinks were okay. The girl definitely measured out the vodka with a jigger, the small end of the jigger. We asked to settled up and it took nearly 10 minutes for the bill... we were charged nearly $9 per drink! Aye aye aye. Well, it was our spring break adventure so we paid and then boarded our flight. Came by here to pick up a grilled ham and cheese panini sandwich to go for a quick dinner on the fly before my connecting flight. I've been a fan of Goose Island beers for quite some time. However the food I ordered was somewhat uninspiring and tasted like something my six year old daughter could do a better job of. It did fill the need to get some food in my stomach for dinner but it was forgettable. As others have mentioned the bar here is small and for the last few times I've been here it's been chock full. Back to the sandwich, it was a minimal serving size of ham and cheese and was served hot off the grill. It came with some warm chips that were salt n pepper but overall I wouldn't come back here. If you do come for the beer (Goose Island really is a great Chicago beer company) skip the sandwiches maybe try something else off the menu like the wings. Or If you are in Terminal C and have time head to Berghoff down at the other end of the terminal as their sandwiches are off the chart compared to the bland sandwich I had here. Terminal C is pretty dismal for food choices, with a food court and a McDonalds, I was hoping for a place I could sit for an hour when I spotted Goose Island Pub from a distance. Sadly, I was mistaken. There is a bar with a dozen stools and a long tabletop along two walls with another dozen stools. There's no room to spread out and if you're not at the bar, you're facing straight into a wall (with a foot of eating space). Not much room for suitcases and forget opening a laptop - no space and no power. There are two TV's over the bar, but there's so much noise you can't hear a thing. No table service - you have to go up to the bar and bring your own drinks back to the stools. The draft beers were insanely expensive - $9 for a 22 ounce Goose Island. They brew it here in Chicago, why charge so much? The sandwiches are similarly overpriced. My ham and cheese panini was $10 for a couple slices of salty ham with some pepperjack cheese on two pieces of marble rye bread. It must have been on the grill all day because the crusts were simply inedible. At least it was served with chips - probably poured out of a big bag of Ruffles. Would I come here again? No! I'd make the hike over to the B terminal and try something else. I suggest you do the same. read more

I was about to give two stars because I rarely give out one, but this place is exactly that. I didn't mind the filth, the self seating, the lack of service/forgotten orders, or the cold food, but that's because I had missed my flight and was desperately killing time. BUT... we were there for 2+ hours for a beer and two entrees. (Chicken tenders and a chip+pork dish) This is an airport restaurant. Who in their right mind wants to spend 2+ hours waiting for a beer and two entrees? Nobody. I give our waitress that morning two thumbs up for trying, but they seriously need to have a host and more waitresses/servers, because our waitress was visibly exhausted from running back and forth. There were what looked like two other bussers, but they weren't taking orders or clearing tables at the speed that they needed to be. Other tables left and cancelled their orders because their beers took over 30 minutes to come out. Some complained because their food came out cold or icy. Most of us though... we were just ignored, not out of neglect, but out of lack of arms! Here's a tip to travelers - DON'T COME HERE. Great place for drinks ONLY. The food was horrible- I ordered the Albacore tuna sand with artichoke and it was just greasy and disgusting! My DH had the Sicilian but that looked gross as well. He said it was ok but it did not look appetizing. I wish I could give this place more but could not recommend the food. There is a McDonald's across from this place (it is in the O'Hare airport) and I might have gone there had I known. I did want a drink though. I will give them kudos for service, they did us justice there. I'm sure they have a limited food selection. I would definitely not ever eat here again though. The sign said seat yourself but not one server came by our table in the 10 minutes we sat there. Luckily two seats opened at the bar right as we were about to leave. That said, our bartender was very pleasant and gave us great service. Drinks were cold and the food was standard bar food. The hummus is good and serves with feta, onion, tomatoes and cucumber. Cute little bar to sit and enjoy a few drinks. This was next to our gate last time we went through here so this is where we stopped. The bartender guessed what beer I wanted before I even opened my mouth because "all girls choose that one." It was pretty good, whatever it was called. Matilda, maybe? Boyfriend had a beer called "Honkers." We both really enjoyed what we had and got two glasses. This review drops from 4/5 range to a 3 because of the food menu. All airport bars are expensive but C'MON MAN. The menu was really small, had shitty options, and nothing was under $10. We were both hungry but saw nothing on the menu that was appealing in terms of price or food description. And there was a man next to us with a disgusting looking sandwich. So don't go there if you are hungry, but go for the beer! It is pretty good and they have cute geese on the glasses. read more

The world has Democrats and Republicans, but an airport bar is supposed to be a place to relax before getting on a plane. I stopped by here for breakfast before my flight at around 8am. The restaurant was not crowded and there was no wait line. The food and service were both okay, not that bad as I thought when I saw the score. I ordered the hash brown wrap and my friend did the meat lover omelette. It might be a little bit expensive for things like that to be listed as $12.5, but it is at the airport so I guess that's reasonable. Not normally the type to take the time to leave a negative review but I recommend going anywhere else if you're stuck in OHare looking for a beer. The female bartender with an accent (I didn't catch her name) was incredibly rude, essentially ignoring me the whole time. I got a single beer (I wanted food too but was told they were sold out of everything, only for the person next to me to order a panini no problem). I also wanted a second beer but when I finished my first she grabbed my glass without even looking at me and then continued to ignore me. I decided to pack up and move on so I packed my things and then sat there for another 5 minutes assuming she would bring me my check, she did not. There was a menu leaning against the pos system in front of me that I tried to peek at for a price so that I could just leave cash and she immediately grabbed it out of my hand to give it to man who had sat down near me (and there were no prices on it). Maybe she didn't see that I was literally looking at it but seems unlikely. And at the end of all of that she asked "what do you want" and I said I just needed to know how much my beer was, she went back to her pos system at the other end of the bar and then spent a few minutes putting in tips from other tickets before finally bringing me mine. If you're in a rush, or don't want to be treated like garbage by your servers, I highly recommend finding a different spot. read more

I didn't get a chance to eat here (it was almost midnight) and the kitchen was closed, but I was able to sit at the bar and grab a drink (which I greatly appreciated because it was Monday night and all the other bars in the terminal were already closed). The bar and seating area are very homey and there are plenty of TVs to watch if you've got time to spare before your flight. One thing I really appreciate about O'Hare is that you are allowed to get takeout beer. The bartender will just give you a clear plastic cup to fill and then you can carry it around the terminal with you (or even on the plane). read more

I was so looking forward to having a pint at "Goose Island" Pub in my layover, hoping to have something that I can't get out on the West Coast. Wow! How disappointing!!! Really!??!? At the Goose Island Pub, and they only have 4 beers in tap?????? And, it's the same 4 Goose Island beers I can buy at 7-11, but $9+ a pint...off tap!!! So, I ended up having a Green Line Pale, and a burger. I should have pounded the pint and walked next door to the Chicago Hot Dog place, because the burger was mediocre at best. It's an airport and everyone is busy/in a rush so I was not expecting a 5 star dining experience, but we probably should have eaten at McDonald's instead. The beers are $9 and up. I got a soda and it was almost $4!!! The food was mediocre. I think that if this is associated with Goose Island... then it should reflect the brand and brewery they have in Chicago. Goose Island is still the only "sit down" restaurant near our Virgin America gate so DH and I opted for a light lunch here before our flight to SFO. Fortunately during our most recent visit, Goose Island was not busy and we had no trouble getting a table. I enjoyed my Green Line and DH seemed satisfied with his India Pale Ale. We shared a chicken club sandwich. Our wait person was efficient and friendly and gave us two plates for our sandwich and fries. For airport food and beverage, Goose Island is a reasonable choice. Goose Island has redeemed itself since our last visit. read more
