The service here is very hit or miss, really depends on the current mood of the owners I guess. My last straw was when I was calling for a pickup order and as soon as the phone was answered, the lady, who I'm assuming is Grace, answered the phone and told me to "hurry up". Mind you, she just answered the phone, I wasn't taking long to order for that response to be warranted and it made me incredibly uncomfortable. Even if she was dealing with a lot at her store at that moment you still don't tell a paying, loyal customer to "hurry up". I told her my order but never bothered to go pick it up because I found her to be rude and frankly, the interaction made me uncomfortable. I really like this place, I like the breakfast burrito, it's very affordable and is great tasting but this entire experience has me questioning whether or not I should give this business my money, it's a shame. read more

This is a great little spot for a quick sandwich for breakfast or lunch. They also serve pretty good salads and wraps. They of course have coffee and it's pretty decent. They have combos that come with chips or a salad and a drink. Prices are very affordable and the food tastes great. It's also always great to be able to support a small family owned business. Grace the owner is welcoming and happy at the register. You won't regret coming here. The only downfall is parking. It can be hard sometimes but you can place a phone order and hopefully park in the 20 min parking spot right outside. I ordered the chicken caesar wrap - on the menu it says it comes with a side salad, but it actually comes with chips. The portion is huge for an incredible price, especially compared to other locations and it was a tasty wrap. However, this is not the place to come to if you're in a hurry. It is 1 to 2 people working the restaurant and it gets busy especially during the lunch hour. They have quite a variety of food, as well - burritos, chicken teriyaki plates, sandwiches, paninis, wraps. This cute little cafe is located on the corner of 3rd street and Huntley Dr. The parking is located on the street and is very limited but they do take phone orders for quick pick ups. The owner of the cafe, Grace, actually works the register and she's been in business for the past 17 years. She is a sweet lady who takes the time to talk about her food and cafe. The prices are very reasonable, 5.95 for a thick club sandwich with your choice or chips or a green salad. I suggest the salad. It's fresh greens, none of ice burg lettuce stuff. The chicken wraps also have daily grilled chicken breast. Overall, the service is great, the food is good and I love supporting local mom and pop shops. My son and I were so hungry and found this spot next to lausd headquarters where I had to come for work. I ordered bagel and cream cheese and albondigas soup. She noticed my son not eating and gave him some rice and seaweed from her own private lunch and a banana. To the guy claiming racist: I was reading your review when an older black male walked in. Grace and him had a pleasant conversation. He's a regular it seems. It might be your weak mindset and bad attitude to claim such a horrible judgment. Its literally in the corner of a lot of job sites so i get it. Be careful and watch your food. Unfortunately i got raw chicken. Grace is still my go to place for my keto omelettes. Uses real eggs which nowadays is rare, avocados, onions, bacon, cheese, bell pepper and onions. They give you a huge omelette. No place before has stopped me from a busy day of running around to post on Yelp. Never. Not until I pulled up to Grace Café for some cold drinks for the office on my way back from lunch. I had been here once before, but don't drive this way often. A sudden order of 12 Thai Teas did not faze the lady at the front. She may look small and timid, but don't be fooled, she's a BOSS. (Actually she may be the owner of this lovely mom/pop, but that doesn't describe her as effectively). She rocked the hell out of my order in less than 10 minutes while still serving a full café of diners and even more walk-in/pick-up orders. The teas looked so good I ended up ordering a 13th for myself, but she threw it in as if it were a baker's dozen order. I walk out to my car to carry the two trays of 4 each and upon returning for my card and 3rd tray I see her hustling out behind me with my drinks and debit. Much love and respect for her sweet, kind, adorable, respectful, fast/friendly and superior quality service and drinks. OH by the way... YUM on the teas. This review isn't based on her food because I'm ok with it. I liked the convenience this place offered me and I've actually been here a few times. I can come right up the street here and get something quick, cheap and easy and be back on my way without having to deal with the hassle of going into downtown all the time to grab food. The reason this review isn't higher is because when I came in here I was totally ignored by Grace. She was so engrossed and engaged with a conversation she was having with some lady that I was like a fly on the wall to her. The cook was preparing other orders so I'm like, ok she's probably just waiting for her food to be done along along with the other guests in there at the time. So I grabbed a cup of coffee since it was there for the taking since its self served. I'm walking around outside and the customers are coming out with their food and I walk back in and Grace was still engaged in her conversation with this lady. Now by this time I'm the only other customer in here. I walk back to the register and she still ignores me. Don't you notice there's a paying customer here? How hard is it to excuse yourself for a few seconds to take my order and then go back to your conversation? I seriously should have just left, but I didn't feel like going anywhere else. I literally had to walk up to the cook and place my order through him. Just totally bad customer service all around from Grace. The cook brings up my food along with the lady's who she didn't know which was which was which and the cook had to tell her. So the lady pays first and Grace walks her out and here i am with my money in my hand like what is going on? I'm totally livid at this point. Why couldn't she ring me out along with the other lady? What kind of conversation is this where you are neglecting your customers like this? She was really rude in her actions.There's a bell next to the register so i rang it twice like please take my money so I can get the hell out here. If i had the exact change i would have left it on the counter and left. She finally comes back after me ringing the bell and just rudely claps her hands telling me the price of which i had to remind her i had a cup of coffee added to my order or else she would have forgotten that. You know that date you've been on, where you're totally into the other person except for one, little thing that puts a damper on the whole night? Maybe she picks her teeth with her too-long acrylic nails, or whips out her phone to change her Facebook status to "in a relationship" before dessert even arrives, or maybe HE picks his nose by the reflection of his butter knife when he thinks you're looking at the busload of tourists passing by... Well, GraceCafe is sort of like that date. You're a bit irked, maybe even heebie-jeebie-creeped out, but you still want to go out with them again because YES, -- they ARE a good kisser. Grace is a great, homey little eatery/slash/convenience store tucked beneath the Visconti Apartment building in Downtown L.A., and if you work in that area, or your car broke down at lunch time, or you live at Visconti and don't want to change out of your pajamas or boxer briefs and tank top to get a donut and coffee - you know there aren't too many non-liquor-store choices within a half-mile radius. GraceCafe specializes in sandwiches and salads, although they can make you a fruit smoothie, too, even if it's not officially on their menu board. Their menu board, incidentally, looks like a blank wall with a clock on it, and you sort of just have to ask "What do you serve here?" to figure out whether you can order a tuna melt or large Brooklyn style pizza with extra cheese, please. (BTW - no pizza here, sorry) The sandwiches and salads are excellent; fast, easy, and feel good in your mouth, if you're into that (and who isn't?) If you're not a meat-eater they serve a deelish four-cheese sandwich upon request, and they don't load it down with mayo, either! You won't even have to roll down your Jaguar's window to ask if they have any Grey Poupon -- they DO. And if you're the type who devours animals, order the BLT and down it like a starving tiger, baby. You can even get egg salad here, though if you're going back to a crowded office afterward your colleagues will probably NOT recommend it, even if you're in a cubicle. But if you're unemployed, work in the open air or at home, or just don't give a f**k, then SWISH! The proprietress is a lovely Asian lady who's full of smiles and friendliness, which is a major plus. She gives everyone a ten-punch sandwich card. After your ninth sandwich, the tenth sandwich plus a hardcover edition of the teachings of Confucius -- in Cantonese-- is free! Okay, maybe just the sandwich. Prices are reasonable; a tad more than Subway, Quizno's, Togo's, and their cousins, but less than Gordon Ramsay. This place still seems to be a work in progress, as there's no system for the employees to see which customers were served, or if there's a crowd, who got there first (ie, an "order here" "pick up there" arrangement). Also, the coffee (self-serve, in stand-alone dispensers a-la older 7-11s) is sometimes cold, and the refrigerator that holds the soft drinks and juices, on the other hand, seems to be set to near-freezing on some days, and is just plain broken on others. Grace-land is Backwards-land in that regard. Worst of all, the candybar display is set near the window in direct sunlight, and when touching the wrappers one can tell the bars inside are melted. On top of that, a lot of the candybars appear to be expired (I actually bought a Milky Way that didn't feel mushy and melted from the sun, and when I opened it, it crumbled like dust). These are all issues that will likely be resolved as the owners gain more experience and decorate the place to make it more personal and inviting, and no doubt the sandwiches and salads are BOSS status in terms of awesomeness, as is the owner. I'll definitely be back to see GraceCafe again. -- There's a strawberry smoothie with my name on it, and I think I love it, even if it asks "what are you thinking?" only two minutes after asking you "what are you thinking?", and even if it gives off a bit of a stalker vibe. It's just THAT good a kisser. read more
