Highly recommended! Was in Sacramento for a convention. Decided to try this boutique coffee shop cause the lines were really long at Starbucks... I'm really glad I did. We ended up getting a Frappuccino and a passion lemonade. Both were excellent, frappe had a real coffee taste and was immediately better than Starbucks in the first sip. Had an excellent coffee flavor and taste, Not overly sugary and sticky etc., well balanced and still has the wife talking about it and wanting to go back. I am SOOO please with Grace Coffee Roasters. Especially now that TC is managing. Yesterday I walked in craving the Italian Wedding Soup that has been served there before- SOUP IS TO DIE FOR. They were serving another soup, but TC promised to make some the next day. She also mentioned how she is excited to maintain consistency and customer satisfaction. I LOVE CUSTOMER SERVICE LIKE THIS! She is also a woman of her word, I am enjoying my Italian Wedding Soup as I type this. As soon as I walked in she knew exactly what I wanted. I didn't even have to say a word. Like other folks on Yelp, I'm here to say that the Very Special Grilled Cheese is INCREDIBLE. It's got: melted dill havarti cheese on sourdough bread, avocado, tomato, basil, and lemon pepper for $6.75. SO FREAKING DELICIOUS. Sometimes grilled cheeses that have extra ingredients can come out a bit soggy, but not this one! This one had the perfect crisp on the outside and packed with flavor on the inside. First off, I am kinda upset that I just realized this place is here. It's really easy to miss! So far I've tried the veg quiche which was nice and thiick; I didn't taste any cheese on it, mostly egg and veggies. I'm not really big on crust, but the crust on the quiche was so flaky and buttery omg The Jalapeño cheese bagel - so bomb, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside with a generous layer of cream cheese. Left me satiated for hours (and that's saying a lot!) The soy Chai tastes like Starbucks but more rich in flavor and darker in color, very creamy and not too spicy. A bonus - they use crushed ice! I pass by Grace every day on my way to work and they have really good coffee. However. Today I ordered an iced coffee that was priced at 4.50 on their board, but I ended up paying a dollar more than that. When I asked why the price was that much more they said "Oh that's our iced coffee prices". It says that nowhere on the board at all that iced is a dollar extra. Also, why are we paying a dollar more for less product? No clue. I think I would've still bought the coffee if it was listed at the more expensive price, I just don't like to be tricked basically about pricing. So many other coffee places nearby that are less expensive and HONEST about how much things cost. Oblivion for example, try there. read more

What's not to like about this place? Nothing! They didn't have dark roast but medium roast drip coffee was good. Jalapeño bagel with salmon cream cheese capers and red onion was best I ever had. It was made to perfection! Also got turkey swiss cheese avocado egg breakfast burrito sandwich, and mango smoothie for my daughter who's playing in this weekend's volleyball tournament. On the fence between 2 and 3 stars and I give them three because of how nice this place looks with the tree wall art and hipster lights. Why such a bad rating? - As mentioned by a previous reviewer, these baristas have no idea what they are doing. DO NOT GET THE POUROVER. - Not only that, they look totally uninterested and had no enthusiasm. I ordered a pour over, price was pretty cheap, only $2.60 for a small. I asked barista what method they use and he stated something completely different than what he brewed my coffee with. (I asked about the chemex and he then used a v60). Shows his lack of knowledge between the devices. The other barista questioned him he if knew how to use it. (Concerning) The brew took forever! It took over 10 minutes for me to get my coffee, between that time he was going to other people. It was concerning because the (V60) doesn't take long and when i went to check on it, He just poured a bunch of water over it and let it sit and steep. He said it's almost done, it takes a while. I just knew from that point I was going to get a terribly bitter, over brewed coffee. Why even use a pour over device, especially a v60 if you have no idea how to use it. When he handed me my coffee, i asked him if the coffee had been sitting in the water and extracting the whole time, he had no idea what i was speaking of. I would assume this shop knows, considering their gear. When he saw me cringing to the taste, he said their brew usually takes 6 minutes or so. He said it was his 3rd time doing this. This place looks really nice but if you really want a good cup of coffee, you should avoid it. read more

This independent cafe-coffee house is just down the street from the Hyatt Regency hotel and the Sacramento Convention Center. I was here over the weekend for a conference, and I got myself some breakfast and a skinny vanilla latte to go. The pesto-bacon-egg-cheese sandwich on a croissant was absolutely delicious, and the latte was tasty, but the problems here were twofold: my beverage order was ignored and ten minutes went by before someone could finish making it. The cashier herself started to make my drink, but when the morning pre-Conference rush hit, this cashier had to pause with my beverage and take a bunch of orders. My beverage was placed off to the left of the espresso machine, and there were plenty of empty cups labeled with other orders, waiting to be fulfilled. By the time help arrived with the beverages, one barista reached to her right- you guessed it, she went for the empty cups, and overlooked my cup, which contents were growing cold. I called this to her attention, and she apologized, finally finished my beverage, and attempted to pass off a COLD beverage to me! I declined to take it, and Inasked her to begin from scratch. This transaction was taking way too long at this point. I appreciated her apology- the second one- for her oversight, but the damage had been done, as this latte still was not very hot. I enjoyed the sandwich a lot more than the drink, but I would give this place poor marks for its service. For future business travel taking me to this part of Sacramento, I am a lot less likely to patronize this place again, never mind how good that sandwich was. Lukewarm coffee and inattentiveness leave very negative impressions. read more

Another update. The manager reimbursed me for the horrible sandwich experience and stated she was working on training her staff. I also complained about some lackluster coffee I had received and she corrected that as well. Seems like everyone that works there now is on par with each other and makes a great coffee. It is a bummer this place doesn't have better employees or coffee (which is mostly terrible because barista doesnt know what she is doing) because this location is perfect for a downtown spot and for convention attendees (which is what I am this week). Waited in line for almost 30 minutes just to order and another 20 to get my drink. Barista had three, yes THREE, group heads she could have been using and I believe I counted four portafilters... Yes she insisted on making each drink one by one?? This added to the long waits. Not to mention that she looked completely and utterly annoyed to be at work and her personal grooming was questionable. I know for a fact in food service your nails cannot be beyond a certain length and she was sporting (and touching fresh ground espresso - double ewww) with long dirty nails. Anyway, I took time to notice while I was waiting that she had absolutely no clue was she was doing. Barista doesnt steam milk. I saw the texture as she poured into a cup- it was just hot milk. Sooooo fluid with no texture as properly steamed milk should have and her shots were over extracted and bitter. I know they are bitter because I tasted it. I know they are over extracted because the shot came out at twice the speed it should (adjust your grinder please) and was a touch of espresso with 90% crema. The light brown color of crema should not be the entire shot or you're over extracting!!! Anyone would know this who has been even remotely trained!! Long story short, don't bother going here. I would rather Starbucks across the street to this burnt water milk latte. Don't be swayed by the hipster vibe - it means nothing without craftsmanship. Two stars because the cookie was freaking delicious and the young cashier with crazy curly black hair was super friendly. read more

UPDATE: Since my last review in July of 2017, I decided to give these guys another shot and have been coming back for a couple months now. I will have to say that the service is way better, the employees seem happier to be there and I haven't encountered any rudeness as I did before. They have consistently had lots of sugar free options on the menu and in stock which I appreciate immensely, and they updated their menu to include all ingredients found in their menu items which is also much appreciated. I still think they are slightly overpriced, however I would MUCH rather spend my money here than Starbucks; not only is the quality better but I strive to support local businesses the best I can. Thanks guys for making this my go-to spot once again! OLD REVIEW: I really want to give these guys 5 stars, a few months ago I would have. They have great coffee and I love to support local businesses- especially ones with a great mission. Unfortunately over the last couple months the service has gotten pretty dicey: long slow lines, my drinks were getting messed up and the simple ask for whipped cream (after already requesting it when ordering) was like pulling teeth, one barista is pretty rude every time and the others do not seem like they want to be there- would it kill you to smile? I really appreciated that they offered a decent list of sugar free options which included white and regular chocolate for mochas. Since the last time they ran out they have not reordered these options even after they said they would which is disappointing. It's hard for people who are diabetics or just watching their sugar intake to enjoy fancier coffees when there are hardly any sf options, this was a big reason they were my go-to coffee spot and I think it put them in a different category than other coffee shops. Lastly, there food is overpriced but I order anyways because I support their cause and it's typically good. Their breakfast burritos do not list all the ingredients on the board so I was very disappointed when I found peppers and onions in it and had to throw it out, $10 wasted. So much better than the coffee shop that used to be here! Being located on the bottom floor of an office building, it's definitely geared more towards the local business crowd. There is a parking garage in that building that offers public parking, but you'll end up paying more for parking than coffee. Go to one of their other locations if you really want to try them out. The staff are super friendly. Prices are comparable to Starbucks, but I think their coffee is better. Their pastry selection too. I'm okay with paying upwards of $2 for a regular cup of coffee if I know a portion goes to a local non profit, instead of paying it to a coffee conglomerate like starbucks. Seating within the shop is pretty limited. It's more of a grab a cup and go type place. But the decor is pretty classy for such a small space. read more
