When passing back through Kingman on our way back home to California, we stopped here for a late morning breakfast based on YELP reviews. We were not at all disappointed. Very cozy, and I believe that we were the only non-regulars. Food was so, so good! Prepared freshly, staff we encountered were friendly, restrooms were clean. And we wished we weren't just passing through as we wanted to try more of the menu items and specials. Not a fancy place, but a super comfortable (no cushy booths but the deluxe plastic card table chairs were quite nice) and the vibe is "warm" like a hug. read more

The service was great. The food tasted good. But it was really greasy. You the could see it on the plate. We one of it was from the cheese.

My husband and I were looking forward to dining here after hearing such great reviews about this restaurant. Decided to treat myself to steak and eggs and made it very clear I wanted the steak rare. When the food arrived, the steak was overcooked and inedible. The waiter only came back to our table when we were finished eating and wanted to know if I wanted a to go box for the steak. I don't like being in the position of having to explain why I left the best part of the meal on the plate but had to. Found this little gem while looking for a mom and pop cafe for breakfast while visiting Kingman. As soon as I walked in knew this was the spot to be. We decided to try this place out after we left the KOA in Kingman, AZ. We are so glad we did. Great prices, coffee and food. My husband had the half order of the biscuits and gravy and ordered eggs, home fries and sausage. I had the chicken fried pork that came with eggs, hash browns and toast. I received two full plates of food! The chicken fried pork was cooked perfectly and covered in their tasty gravy. The portions were really large and the employees are friendly. Tried this restaurant based on yelp reviews. Hats off to the chef for incredibly delicious hash browns. The biscuits and gravy were really yummy. There were large pieces of sausage in the gravy! Giving only 2 stars due to the TERRIBLE service from the young waitress with dark hair. She was HORRIBLE! She was, by far, the worst waitress we've had in years. Riding from LA to Sturgis we made a stop here. Service was fast and friendly. In ordered the hamburger steak and eggs. It's basically a hamburger patty served with eggs and potatoes. Everything was perfect with the exception of the hamburger patty. It was cooked well, so the meat patty was just tough and lacked flavor. Med rare or Med would of been a better way to cook the meat. Amazing little hometown place with great food. Had the French toast and the waitress suggested I go with the raisin bread and it was fantastic. My husband had the grandpa special and that pancakes had a lot of flavor. Definitely place you should visit if you're in Kingman. read more

If you are not a local, don't come here!. We waited an hour for our food. Half of it was warm and half of it was cold. Many others got their food before us (who sat down after us). It would appear that they started making our food, stopped our order for the locals that came in and then finished it and that's why some of our plates were warm and others were cold. Also if you are not of Caucasian decent there definitely is a level of discomfort. If eating in Kingsman try Gran Canyon Brewery for a meal, food and drinks are good and they are friendly to tourist. read more

While traveling through, we stopped at Grandpa's kitchen for breakfast before our long drive. They were quite busy on a weekend morning. I'm glad they had both indoor and outdoor seating available. The view outdoors as the sun rose was beautiful. I had the vegetarian omelet, hash browns with their biscuit. The hash brown were crispy but on the dark brown side. It's an old establishment but clean. You can tell their age just by going in the restaurant. Server is very friendly and very detailed in explaining menus if you ask. But everything looks so good. Once again, I ate my entire plate and forgot to take a picture!! This cute little place is really good. Locals for sure know about this hidden gem, a constant flow of customers was evidence to that. We got the chicken fried steak (the real deal, not the freezer stuff) mashed potatoes and gravy and green chili burger. Both dishes were delicious, like they came out a home kitchen. We stopped at Grandpa's Kitchen when passing through Arizona on June 9. We asked a couple coming out of the restaurant as we were heading in how the food is. They said, "Not that good today." They added the is usually good but something was off today. We decided to go ahead and go in. We ordered water to drink while looking over the menu. The water had a VERY strong chemical taste. We decided not to stay because they would be using that water to prepare certain foods. We left before ordering any food so I cannot say whether the food was good or not. We left wishing we had heeded the locals who said it just wasn't good that day and not gone in. The nasty taste of the water stayed in my mouth for quite some time. read more

OMG!!! This place is worth the short drive over. We stopped here on our way to the Grand Canyon. Staff were welcoming, friendly and it's a true diner experience! Pro's - Good service gravy is awesome wife loved her pancakes great local joint vibe like i grew up on Con's - $67 for 4 people (including 20% tip I left). - a bit pricey even w: inflation and considering everyone drank water but me. hash browns used to be of great consistency here but not on my last visit. usually brown and a bit crunchy on the outside and tender on inside but this last visit they were burnt crispy and dried out. My Dr Pepper was undrinkable. it had a greasy film on the top of it (look at your soda if you go an order a drink). It was over carbonated... like drinking carbonated water with a hint of flavor added...the calibration is way out of whack Bacon is burnt and undercooked for my wife and me both. How do you manage to pull this off???? I like fatty bacon but the undercooked parts were just chewy they were so undercooked.. so i ate the burnt part read more

Terrible service, had to wait 20 minutes for MENUS, had to ask for coffee refills, waited nearly an hour for our food, place was busy (why, I don't understand) , only two waitresses, tables were dirty, ketchup bottle on table had clumps of old, dried up ketchup on the lid, floor was filthy, sign in restroom telling workers to wash their hands was a Mohave County Health Department notice describing how much bacteria reside in a clump of "poop" ([why would you put that sign in a customer restroom?]), food was mediocre, overpriced.
