Grasso's is a very pleasant surprise in Cold Spring Harbor. I have driven by it a few times but last night we decided to make a reser after checking out the menu on Open Table. I love my dining points since they do add up!! We walked in and there was a wonderful jazz band playing! We sat in the other room next to the window so we could talk and still enjoy the wonderful music. Elizabeth was our waitress and she was very sweet and attentive. I would give them 5 stars for service and music and bf's delicious fish special (I think it was the snapper?) The grilled artichoke appetizer was tasty too My ciopinno was a 3.5 star because the marinara sauce lacked in flavor and creativity. I took it home for leftovers and will add garlic, wine and seasoning tonight. All in all, it was a great dinner which we enjoyed thoroughly and can't wait to come back and listen to more jazz! My wife and I dined at Grasso's last night and LOVED it! Would give SIX stars if I could. Kelly and Georgia waited on us and they were fantastic. They both were very attentive and genuinely seemed interested in our satisfaction. We started with baked oysters (a special last night). Well prepared and DELICIOUS! Entrees: Linguini Frutti de Mare and Pacchieri Pasta. BOTH entrees were fantastic - well prepared and delicious. Again, service was perfectly executed, well paced, friendly and very professional. We were comfortably full after dinner, so we decided to skip dessert. Still, Kelly and company offered us a treat - Creme' Brulee served with a sparkler. INCREDIBLE. Best Creme' Brulee EVER! We were a bit disappointed with our first experience at Grassos. A positive- we went around 8:30 on Saturday night & were seated at an outdoor table with only a 10 minute wait. We noticed a few other tables outside, the folks looked annoyed and without food. Couples who were there 20+ minutes had been waiting just to receive their drinks. We decided to be patient & try it out. The lack of service (availability & speed) was pretty surprising. The only thing that kept us from leaving was a great conversation with the table next to us. We ordered only water & the Wagyu burger (we wanted to be quick as possible seeing how long the others were waiting)- it did not disappoint. Delicious and quite big. We think the outdoor dining folks were forgotten because the indoor had live music that was so loud, the staff may have been too busy or distracted to serve us. We came here for Mardi Gras night and really had a great time with friends and good music. But, this is about the food. This is the first time I have to Grasso's in a while.. We ordered from the special menu and boy, the food was bad. We had the crab mornay which was good, but rich and served on a plate meant for escargot. I had the jambalaya, which was awful... a soupy mess with no texture from the rice. I had a side dish of the short rib mac and cheese and there was a stick in my food. The pork shank was good. There was a charge for the music and with a bottle of wine and 2 glasses, the bill was outrageous. I will come again, for a drink and a snack, but not again for dinner. read more

My family and I eat here often and always have a wonderful experience. We love everything from the food & drinks to the atmosphere and live music! My husband and I inquired about having Grasso's host our small wedding reception in October & they joyfully accepted. Gail's team at Grasso's is amazing! Sean their very talented Bartender came up with delicious & sophisticated seasonal drinks for the evening. We went here for a retirement lunch for one of my co-workers. Our entire department went. The woman of honor was a bit disappointed because instead of one large table (we were only about 24) they had 4 small round tables. She wanted a more unified setting but due to our time limitations we had to accept the setup the way that it was. As a started I ordered the walnut salad sans blue cheese; I loved it. For a main dish I ordered the chicken burrito. I liked the burrito but it was served with a side of potato salad, which I found strange, and didn't even touch. Finally the dessert platter was outrageous; there was mousse, cheesecake, cookies, ice cream, etc. That was my favorite part. read more

I don't know why we never tried Grasso's before; it's a lovely, elegant restaurant in Cold Spring Harbor, on your left as you approach from Huntington. There's a big parking lot next door where you can park for free; there is also metered parking on Main Street The first thing the waiter does, after getting a drink order, is bring out a basket of crusty bread and a dish divided into three parts: one held olive tapenade, one had smooth hummus, and one had extra virgin olive oil. We polished that off and asked for seconds! My dining partner had Salmon with a Greek yogurt sauce, broccoli, and a side order of asparagus. He also had an espresso afterwards. His meal was delicious and satisfying, although adding up his extras raised the bill by quite a lot. I saw the Watermelon and Grilled Shrimp Salad on the menu and knew that was it! Along with the red grapes in the salad, those are my three favorite foods. There was also a nice portion of feta cheese on top of a mountain of baby greens with sliced red onions, and a vinegary dressing. It was a refreshing summer salad and I highly recommend it. We skipped dessert (except for the espresso, which came with a little biscotti) but thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Grasso's. read more

The hostess/manager is so rude I don't understand why she works in the service industry. As with the other reviewers, we were told that we'd have 90 minutes for dinner because another party is coming. Guess what, after 90 minutes we were handed a dessert menu. Guess the other party didn't show up. There are better ways to convey this information than to give us hostile looks the whole time. We feel like we were being watched. The rudeness started the first moment we came to the restaurant. There is just no excuse. Not for this location and not for this price. All the negative reviews are for the hostess/manager. She immediately got us to the bar and asked the female bartender to serve us who was also very nice . The male bartender was not only being rude, shrugging us off and discriminatory ?we were never given a menu , never bought drinks for the couple as asked who were very nice to offer us a stool to sit in and the place was crowded , at then end of night insulted us by asking us sarcastically were we new to the neighborhood etc . This is my first time in the area, and since my clients suggested this place, we all went there for a late lunch. I had the seafood with linguini in wine sauce. They do give you a lot of seafood. My plate was covered in mussels and clams. The sauce tasted good, but the linguini was overcooked. But since I was so hungry, I almost finished the whole plate. Service was ok. My parents took me here this evening to celebrate my birthday. For the most part dinner was pleasant enough except for one major fail. I ordered the $49 Veal Chop, prepared medium rare. When I received my main course, it was served well done. I immediately called my server over, and I showed him my very brown piece of meat. He immediately apologized and said that he would replace my main course. I was very hesitant about this option since the other 3 people in my party had already begun eating their meals. I reluctantly agreed, but this is NEVER a great option in terms of timing. The server came back to the table shortly there-after saying that the chef needed to see my veal chop. Now, I was a bit annoyed because this was simply a waste of time, and I was essentially being called a liar at this point. I handed him my dish. Again, shortly thereafter, he came back and said that the chef agreed that the meat was overcooked. No kidding.... So I waited while the rest of my party continued to enjoy their dinner. Finally, my veal chop was served to me. It definitely was prepared much better, but the meat was essentially seared on the outside and all but raw on the inside. I did not complain again because my parents were paying for the meal, and they were quite upset that my birthday dinner was such a joke at this point. I choked down my veal chop with a smile, but I find it simply amazing that a restaurant that charges essentially $50 for a piece of meat was incapable of preparing it properly. What I found most shocking is that the restaurant did absolutely nothing to make things right so to speak. I mean that they did NOTHING, not even a comped dessert. For some background, my party had pre-dinner cocktails, appetizers, main courses, dessert and a bottle of wine. My father spent a fair amount of money on this dining experience, and the main course was a total disaster. This establishment and the management should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. I recommend that you avoid this restaurant at all costs. You have been warned!! read more

They really went above and beyond! Needed to find a place to have a luncheon after a memorial service that would accommodate a small group. Gail Grasso was so helpful and made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. Having never been to the establishment before this - we weren't really sure what to expect. They set up a lovely room for us and gave us tables to decorate ourselves - pretty much anything we asked they were helpful to get it done. The place has been remodeled and it's adorable! Food was delicious and the fixed plate menu was perfect for what we were looking for. If you are in the area it's a wonderful little spot with friendly staff, good music, and great food. I went for my husbands birthday . I t was always one of our favorites. We were looking forward to the music , which was wonderful by a piano player and singer. When i made the reservations i told the girl it was my husband's birthday and she said i will make a note of it.. Then again when it was desert time I also told the waitress that it was my husbands birthday. Absolutely nothing was done. Not even a cupcake with a candle in it. Was very disappointed. The food was ok but it's not every day that a person in his 70's can celebrate his birthday. Again always loved Grasso's but was not happy with this choice for his birthday. one of my favorite restaurants with fantastic food. it's a pricier night out, but worth it. my favorite go-to items are their mussels served with fresh warm garlic bread, the pear salad, the halibut, veal chop, bolognese, crème brûlée, chocolate mousse cake... even the kids meals of mac and cheese or chicken fingers are better than what you'd expect them to be. honestly i haven't had a single meal there that was a disappointment. they have a nice quiet ambiance with live music, usually a piano with a singer which is really enjoyable. it's a small spot so a reservation is usually key, as it gets filled even on weeknights. staff is excellent and. highly recommend. read more

Recently changed it's name to just "Grasso", this place is incredibly good - if you can find it! The location is one of the last commercial spots (heading east) in Cold Spring Harbor but it is not at street level- it rises up above the street so if you are driving faster than 5 miles an hour, odds are that you will miss it completely. Parking is abysmal but there is a lot available to the west of it - there is some street parking in the main town, but that road is like buffet line on a cruise ship- full of people who will mow you down. The place itself is gorgeous- it was recently renovated ( to go with the new, shorter name) - everything is in a honey color and the walls are decorated with Jazz scenes and artists. They do have live Jazz and in the summer on Sunday's they have live Jazz outside (there are a few small tables on the patio). The food is outrageously good- there is a bar area when you first walk in that is open and inviting. It is pricey but no more so that other places of this type. read more
