This is a nice picturesque place with brick walls, fun art on the walls and a mural of a barista toward the back of the establishment. There is merchandise for sale as well, and an assortment of baked goods. Be sure to try the raw cake ( I think that is what it was called) Similar to the hard oatmeal cakes, this is dense and hearty and has fruit in it. It is a good on their go treat. The inside of the store gets crowded so outside is a good place to sit. The iced coffee is good. I had the Bear Cap. Very flavorful. read more

Wow! I've lived in Los Gatos for awhile and I really wish I tried this place out sooner. The coffee here is so good! I got a 16 ounce mocha with oat milk and their whipped cream (their whipped cream is amazing). The coffee taste was evident and the chocolate they use is perfect, not too dark or bitter tasting. They have quite a few food options, especially loaves (banana bread, pumpkin bread, pumpkin chocolate bread). I got the banana bread, which was pretty good. I definitely want to try their pumpkin chocolate bread sometime which looked amazing. There were a lot of tables and seating, but it looks like this place can get pretty busy, so don't be surprised if you can't get a table right away. It seems like a great place to do work because there are a lot of tables and no loud music. However, it seems like this coffee shop is on the louder side, despite not having loud music. I went to Great Bear Coffee recently. I have been going here for awhile but I do not go here too often since I don't live close to Los Gatos. Anyhow, I love this coffee shop. First, the baked good selection is extensive and every pastry I've had was delicious. Next, there are good options for noncoffee drinkers like myself. I like that the cafe has a cozy feel and that there are a wide range of tables with different seating. Last time, I had iced Jasmine green tea and a blueberry muffin for breakfast. The tea was brewed perfectly for me. It wasn't detrimentally bitter and the tea flavor shown. The muffin was nice though the crumb topping was a bit much. Overall, a great breakfast! read more

She insisted that we stop here before we hit the road and honestly now can see why people hype up Great Bear's Chocolate Coffee Cream! Some of you maybe asking "Did you really spend $10.25 on a shake with 2 espresso shots? A bit expensive? YES and I have 0 regrets! It almost tastes like French Hot Chocolate but in the form of a milkshake. I was blown away by its rich, creamy thickness ( with the consistency of molten chocolate) and fresh whipped cream. My only thing was, I couldn't taste any coffee or espresso in my milkshake. LOL maybe they forgot about the espresso shots or I just have to add more since I could only taste the chocolate? Either way it was still good. As a sweet tooth, it had the perfect amount of sweetness while for others it can be too sweet! I can't speak on the service we received since we ordered through their website online ( I'm so glad we did since they were extremely busy, the shop was extremely packed), but our order took longer than expected which wasn't a huge issue for us since we ended up killing time at Raising Nine so it didn't feel that long! Definitely more than 30 min though. Once we came to check if our orders were ready, the staff member handed it off with a smile. Parking in Los Gatos is pretty tough given the fact it was street parking-- but we had no issues since we parked in one of the parking lots around the area. Most definitely will return next time to have him try out their famous milkshake! It probably could use an update, but I actually don't mind. That's part of the charm! Cleanliness (5/5): even given the older decor, the store seemed clean. The condiment bar was stocked and clean as well. All the tables were occupied so I didn't really have an opportunity to look closely. Customer Connection (4/5): Good connection. Cashier and barista were both friendly. I had a question about the menu and the cashier answered it fine. Service/Product Quality (4/5): I ordered a hot chai latte because I wanted something warm. I normal ask but this time I forgot to check if the chai is on the sweeter or spicer side - definitely on the spicer side! This is a wonderful place in the center of Los Gatos. It's right next to the Apple Store so it's very fun to sit there watching the lines in the morning waiting for the Apple store to open. The atmosphere at the Great Bear Coffee is cozy. It feels very local and very comfortable. There's a mixture of both very young people and very old people. There are people with both newspapers and iPads at the same table. There is a good amount of seating but I've seen this place become overly crowded some days. I genuinely love this place. They have a comfy cool setup inside (rip now cause its covid), great service, and interesting and tasty foods. All of their baked goods always look absolutely delectable and their coffee creations are creative, but the star of the show here is the Chocolate Coffee Cream, which is basically the best milkshake you'll ever have. I have a massive sweet tooth and this drink checks all the boxes. The shake itself is thick and the perfect balance of ice and creaminess that so many places get wrong. The flavor is strong on the chocolate and light on the coffee, but that's sort of the point. The coffee brings out the deeper levels of flavor in the chocolate. Last but certainly not least, their whipped cream. They make this stuff fresh and its nothing like the whipped cream you'd get from some preservative-laden can. It's not sweet (compared to the drink) and it's got exactly the right texture and thickness with none of the filminess that some whipped creams leave behind in your mouth. It's heavenly. Even more so on the hot drinks since it takes its time to melt in. 100% would recommend if you want a drink and you're in the area. Out exploring coffee places. I ordered my coffee and coffee cake crimpy. I must say that the bartisa was spot on with the coffee. I enjoyed every sip. Then the cashier recommended me the coffee cake crimpy. I really liked it, I was told it was their popular item. This will be one of my list of go to coffee place going forward. For the holidays, they have a cookie butter latte that instantly caught my attention. I've had cookie butter lattes before so I had high expectations but was very disappointed. I got it made decaf but it just tasted like steamed milk, cookie butter, and the tiniest smallest hint of coffee. The coffee was also poorly mixed. All the cookie butter was sitting at the bottom and the steamed milk was at the top with the espresso somewhere mixed in between. The cafe itself is very cute and cozy. There are quite a bit of seats to sit both inside and outside. It was fairly busy but the wait for our coffees wasn't too bad. The location almost makes it very convenient. I need to add that this place can be for chocolate lovers, too. The biscotti looked really good but I went w/ a custard-filled crimpy (muffin-shaped but had a moist cake texture) and a New York Chocolate Fudge Cheesecake. Whilst this is on the high dollar side but the items I ordered were prepared w/ pure decadence. For someone w/ a sweet tooth, this place can easily be a dessert spot. It's one of the memorable independent coffee establishments I've ever been to and just recently voted in Metro for it. - I've only been here once so based off of this one experience and I'm hoping there will be more - I work at Starbucks so I would say I'm a bit of a coffee snob - The CCC is the most popular as mentioned earlier and it is a blended cold beverage similar to a frappuccino. - I want to go back to try another drink. :) read more
