I've been going to great clips since 2005 and have watched the company grow and evolve. There are so many dynamic people in this field and I can say I've known a few hairstylists. My hairstylist Marissa recently became a manager at the Uvillage location and has become like a friend to me. She always shows kindness, enthusiasm, and professionalism with her trendy and hip approach to cutting hair. I go in about once every 10 days or so and always leave feeling refreshed. I've been here three times, always satisfied with my cut. But the last I went, I left especially pleased. I was stuck in a hair rut, struggling to figure out what I was gonna do with my thick, long locks. I was looking up women's undercuts online, and wanted to take the plunge, but as shaving parts of your head can easily go terribly wrong, I was nervous about going through with it. Upon telling the stylist what I was thinking, she immediately had suggestions on a great undercut, and her confidence relaxed me. I even let her shave off more than I originally intended because I trusted her abilities and judgement when she said it would look good. And she was right, I love my hair and I'm excited again about how good it looks now! Glad I came here and took the plunge! read more

Don't go here! I registered on line = wait 1 minute. Got there and one customer and one hair person. Waited 40 minutes! Learned too much about both of them! Beware: they don't know what they're doing here. The blunt/choppy look is my WORST nightmare. Never been so unhappy with a hair cut. I came in and asked for a simple trim. Walked out with the choppiest hair cut ever. I made sure to let them know I didn't want a choppy look and she said she understood but it's clear she didn't. She had to ask an associate to help and they tried to tell me that all haircuts look like this. Um, I've been getting haircuts probably all my life and I've NEVER had a hair stylist cut it like this. Been to other Great Clips locations and been completely or mostly satisfied (maybe one minor thing I wanted a bit different but overall happy) so when one opened so close to my house I was happy. I am not happy anymore. Been in twice, both times AWFUL. The first time my hair was cut by a young woman with an Eastern European name (Olga?) and she lacked any and all confidence. It took forever to cut my hair - nearly an hour! I have straight hair and a very short cut and I know exactly what to ask for. After all this time.... it was uneven. Sides uneven length even though she used a clipper. How does that even happen??? Back looked like a mullet with the neckline not even cut at all. I would have asked her to fix it but after that experience, I didn't want her touching my head anymore. I figured maybe she was new and I'd try again. This time I got Iesha, who was very friendly..... but again, a terrible stylist. Somehow I ended up with a short, disconnected chunk at the back of my head that was MAYBE 1/2" long and that could be generous, that stood straight up. The rest of my hair was barely thinned or touched, leaving it looking like a mushroom with obvious chunks and clumps of uneven hair. I honestly didn't think my style had the capacity to look this bad but SURPRISE! I had to let it grow for about a month and a half because if I went anywhere else to "even it out" I'd have been damn close to a buzz cut. In this time it just looked worse and worse. I wasn't the only one who noticed. A friend asked if I'd tried to cut my hair myself and a lady at work gave me a nice, condescending "Oh HONEY..... who cut your hair??" I paid $16 to be ridiculed. Thanks Iesha! Last night I went to a different salon - also a Great Clips but one I've used before - and the stylist was horrified. It's going to take 2-3 cuts, which is 12-18 weeks at the speed my hair grows, to get it back the way it should be. Do NOT come here. Folsom and Arden Square are great. University is horrible. There is not one stylist there who can cut hair. read more

Cheap, fast, and convenient...it's like fast food for haircuts! This location is tucked away on the side of Buckhorn Grill, next to Quest Diagnostics, at the newly remodeled University Village. I had a coupon for a $5.99 cut (reg. $15) and opted to pay $7 for a shampoo. After reading reviews, I "checked-in" online at greatclips.com and was given a 21 minute wait time. Easy peasy. I arrived 5 minutes before scheduled time, and was welcomed and confirmed check-in with one of the 3 friendly hairstylists. The digital waiting list is at the counter. Waited 5 minutes before Christina called me up. She was very sweet and personable and easy to talk to. She listened to what I wanted, and true to their name, the results were great! No "styling" is included, but she did a quick blow dry. I was in-n-out in less than 30 minutes! A satisfying first-time experience. read more

So I finally decided to get my hair cut and thought I'd try some place new! This brand new to the neighborhood Great Clips seemed handy since you can check in online and then just show up! In addition, they're currently offering a grand opening promotion - that just can't be beat! The two stylists on staff greeted us with big smiles. Roxy did my hair and I got complimented by a gentleman customer before I even left the salon! She definitely worked her magic with my hair and cut off exactly how much we discussed. What a gem! I've been here 3 times, and I've left disappointed 3 times. I won't be going back. I don't know why it's so hard to find a barber/stylist in Sacramento that will listen to what I want and then give me the cut I want. Told one stylist I don't like my fade high and rounded into the top, keep it low. What did she do? Faded it high and rounded into the top. When I told her it was too high and too round she tells me "oh, you should have said something." Another time, exact same thing happens, and I get "most people want it this way." This last time today, same thing, and halfway through the haircut when I notice her cutting it way too high and short, I just gave up. I don't think they teach these people how to cut hair any other way. read more

I would have to say don't listen to the reviews when you're reading them about Great Clips. The people who work at Great Clips aren't all summed up into one person. For instance when I read the reviews they only had 3.8 ratings. So I was a little leery When I decided to have them cut my hair. The reason why went was to donate my hair to locks of love this happen to be the only salon near me that I could find with a high enough rating for me to attempt. Jamey was the hairstylist who did my hair. She did an amazing job and even kept my nervous feelings at bay by assuring me that they were working on getting their reviews higher. See 1 person May have a bad experience with one hairstylist and they may give that 1 hairstylist a bad rating but that doesn't mean that all the other people working at that location are bad as well. Give this place a chance. The people I met today were really friendly and upbeat. If you get there when they first open. No wait! I was seen right away. Oh btw. Terrible experience today! If this had been my only experience with this business the rating would be zero. But I have been a customer for years and have had average to good experiences. But today the stylist seemed disinterested in helping me. Now I keep my hair short, but it's been about a month since my last cut and I have been doing the same, simple cut for decades. He essentially said he wasn't sure if my hair was even long enough to cut. After a couple of snippy remarks I said I could leave if he didn't want to cut my hair. He backed down a little. I should have left but we proceeded. The cut was the most violent experience I have had while getting a haircut. He was speed clipping my hair, repeatedly slamming the clippers into my head. The comb slapped my head several times and each time he had to grab my hair his palm smacked my forehead. Now since we were mid haircut I just tolerated it, knowing this would be my last visit to Great Clips for a while. It's too bad, but I don't want to risk getting this stylist again. read more

I was talked into buying a new product and I ended up not liking it. So I went to a different great Clips, that had the product that I liked, I asked if I could exchange but because I didn't have my receipt they explained to me that I had to go back to the original store I bought it from because they have a copy of my receipt in their computer. So I thanked the Marconi, Sacramento store. I went to the University, Sacramento store where I bought the products, and when I got there I asked them to give me back my money back that I was not satisfied and they gave me the excuse that they couldn't due to Covid-19. I don't get it Sacramento is opened up again. So needless to say I will never suggest that store to anybody. So I ban the Sacramento University Great Clips. The customer is always right. read more

I came in to get a haircut hopeful I'd get a "Great Clip" but I ended up having a trainee that cut my hair , she was constantly trying to rush on my haircut and seemingly not knowing what she was doing! Finally she showed me the back of my hair to see if I liked it! She didn't even know how to position the mirror for me to see & everything looked horrible! The blending of the fade I wanted! Her manager had to step in and explain to her how to cut fades properly! The manager then fixed what errors she had done , to leave me with uneven sides . Don't go here if your not a little kid! First time here in this location we end up with a younger girl that cut my grandsons hair and I am not impressed. His hair was so unevenly shaved you can see low and high spots. The young woman who gave me my 1/2 inch trim was friendly and professional. She cut my hair with a dry cut. I checked in online and went about 3:45 in the afternoon, so there wasn't a wait. While cutting my hair, she told me that they're having a haircut sale until Labor Day...all haircuts are $6.99 until then. Also, after I paid, she said there was a coupon on my receipt to come back before the end of September and my next haircut would only be $5.99. I thought that was pretty cool. The salon is quaint and clean. I'd come back again...especially for the $5.99 cut! read more

This is more of a review off the app...when checking in, the app said that I had a 1-minute wait, but when I arrived, I was told it would be a 15-20 minute wait..the waiting area was filled, so standing room only. Others who were waiting had also checked in online, so the app is simply giving incorrect information on wait times. Moreover I also asked her to cut it in specific way and she responded, "I wouldn't do that." The service should be provided regardless the request. NO star for sure for the hair stylist by name of "Marisa". VERY stubborn, she talks back to customers, she literally argue with customers instead of making them happy. She cut my hair shorter than I asked for. What made me VERY upset that she was keep defending herself and talking back to me instead of staying calm and try to listen to what I wanted or at least find a way to make me happy. She didn't even refer me to talk to manager, in my opinion she gave up too quick on satisfying her customer. She told me that I don't need to pay and just leave. Left side of my hair was shorter that right side. I ended up going to another Great Clips on Truxel Road. They were AMAZING, and they were agreed with me that left side was shorter than right side, but in order for them to fix "Marisa's mess", they had to go little shorter with cut. I am not happy that my hair is shorter, but the hair cut they gave me is absolutely dramatic and beautiful. I had to contact the owner and also I ended up talking to the store manager of University Ave, Sacramento location. They were both pretty professional, and I truly appreciate their feedbacks. I went there for a simple haircut and it was the biggest mistake. First I checked in online and it said about 20 minutes wait time. Not a problem. But I was sitting there for over half an hour. Finally was called. The girl was very nice and asked me what I wanted. I said I wanted it cut so it rested on my shoulders. My hair was very long and its been hot. She confirmed with me that I wanted it at my shoulders and I said yes. She started in the back, never asked if the length she was cutting was ok. I couldn't even see what she was doing. Her first cut felt really short but I thought maybe it just felt really light compared to what it was before. Then she came around to the front and I realized she had cut it up to my jawline. I was so upset but kept my cool and did not want to make a scene. She realized she messed up and apologized. She took her coworker to the back and asked her if she could give me a discount. She gave me $6 off. I left and was so angry. I ended up telling my mom about it and she was angry and knew how upset I was. She called the store and the manager answered. She told her to have me come back in. She did refund my entire haircut price. The employee never even put in my notes what happened. I went back in and the manager was very nice and took me in her office to ask what happened. She said the cut was not good either and had uneven pieces and messed up layers. She asked if she could at least even it so I let her. I was still so upset when I left. I called my usual hairstylist at SUPERCUTS and told her what happened. She got me in same day. She was shocked at how short it was. As she was going through there were STILL uneven pieces and bad layers, Thankfully she saved the day and at least made it into a cute haircut. I will never go to Great Clips ever again. I had issues years back with another location but decided to give it a shot again. I wont make that mistake again. I use SUPERCUTS so you don't have to pay a lot for a haircut, just don't go to Great Clips. read more

I walked in as a first time customer with no idea with what I wanted but a bunch of confusing requests. I was after a complete transformation that would not break my bank. Anna had the unfortunate luck of calling me up but gave me the best haircut I think I have ever gotten. I could not be happier. The cut took an hour(+) and the store was very busy. Not only did she balance everyone, but she had a smile the whole time. I came in not knowing what I wanted and left with a beautiful style. She has a returning customer for sure. read more
