Our table also ordered the fried chicken and donuts, eggs, avocado toast and fruit. Everything was fresh and tasty. We usually go during the week with no wait. I would imagine weekends are busy. Check it out!

We also tried the hot honey fried chicken sandwich which was huge as well and tasty. Service was very great as well! Our server checked in on us every so often and was really sweet. Overall, definitely recommended!

I had this restaurant bookmarked for quite a while and was excited to finally try it. Would I say it was amazing? No. The cauliflower hummus appetizer was good. The prices were also reasonable, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, I didn't care for my date salad with falafel. It was bland and dry, and the falafel didn't taste like traditional falafel. Their iced coffee also tasted very watered down. The staff also wasn't particularly hospitable and seemed more focused on getting people in and out than creating a welcoming dining experience. Overall, this meal didn't wow me. I'm glad I gave it a try, but I'm not sure I'd go back.

Had reservations on a Sunday afternoon, we didn't have to wait too long. Sat on the patio because our friends had their furbabies with them. They allow them on the patio but they cannot sit on their laps. Must be on the ground. Service was slow... food was decent. Ordered a blt with fries and an iced tea and it was $34. I split with my sister of course but it was basic. It came with fries. .. the donuts looked awesome. If we ever come back we will try.

Stopped by for breakfast while we were in Newport! I've been to the Great Maple in SD and the Newport location doesn't disappoint. Though I will note I think the menus are slightly different. We got there right at opening on a Thursday so there was no wait, so I can't say for peak weekend times. The chilaquiles was flavorful, crispy, and topped with creamy avocado. The Benedict was great too! We especially loved the biscuit underneath and the amazing sour cream and onion scalloped potatoes. You definitely need to try the potatoes. I would want to try the portobello fries next time those looked really good. Overall great breakfast place, everything looks yum and the service was great. We sat outdoors and the weather was perfect.

I had a great time here. We sat outside and got mimosas and the Mac n cheese was the best Mac n cheese I have ever eaten, the shrimp Ceasar salad was very good too with good flavors. The maple donuts were delicious too, it's a big portion so you can share. Definitely will come back here again.

I got the protein bowl with salmon and really enjoyed it, the curry sauce with it was a great touch. It felt healthy but still filling. Everything was good, and we also had to try the maple bacon doughnuts, which were a fun treat! Overall, a decent spot for brunch or lunch.

All day breakfast?! You really can't beat that. :) Great Maple was our choice for Vday Dinner, and we are so happy we came here. The interior is so inviting and warm, the wait wasn't bad at all for a walk-in, and the staff were so polite and accommodating. We ordered the Maple Pecan Crusted Salmon, which comes with pearled cauliflower and roasted broccoli. It was ridiculously divine. The crust was perfect, the salmon was tender, and we could've ordered a second one to take home with us - highly recommend. We also ordered the Ribeye Hash because, again, breakfast for dinner can't be beat! There was a lot going on with this hash, between the tender sliced steak, the bell peppers, the poached eggs in hollandaise sauce, the mushrooms, the kale and everything else. The pictures don't do Great Maple justice at all, I'm afraid. Everything tasted way better than it looked, and prices are quite reasonable for the taste, quality and portion size. There's inside and outside seating. We opted for inside to get away from the chilly weather. Great Maple is on Newport Beach's Fashion Island. Plenty of adventure space to walk off your hearty meal.

We came in to have a light dinner after some shopping at fashion island. Place was packed and we were able to grab two seats at the bar. This is not a very big restaurant with a full bar and patio dining area. The menu was mostly comfort food and brunch items. We decided on lemon shrimp pasta, scalloped potatoes and cinnamon donuts. For drinks we had Grey Goose dry martini and Moroccan iced tea. I loved that they had good selections of zero proof drinks since I am off alcohol again. That exotic iced tea was so refreshing and it came with a refill too. The food was so yummy and flavorful in large portions. Our bartender was very friendly and attentive as well. A great place to have brunch or quick bite before or after shopping!

Classic American place with a classic burger. I'd say a pretty typical restaurant burger. Good brioche bun, thick beef patty - nothing particularly extraordinary. I like the ambiance and decor and service. But the food is just fine. I've been here only twice while there's other places dozens of times at fashion island.

3.5 stars but rounding up for excellent service by Jenny. I called about a week in advance to reserve patio seating for a group of 14 plus a dog. On the day of our reservation, our group was running late, so I asked to push the time back by 30 minutes. They accommodated the change without any trouble, and when we arrived, our table was already set and waiting for us. Just note that at least half the party needs to be present before you can be seated. Jenny was exceptional - attentive, friendly, and genuinely made sure we had everything we needed. We were celebrating an engagement, and she surprised us with six delicious donuts for the table, on the house, at the end of our meal. The menu was full of tempting options, but I went with the Smoked Bacon Scramble ($21), which came with toast and scalloped potatoes. I ended up wishing I had tried a different dish, as the scramble itself was pretty bland - possibly due to the tomato juices? All in all, we still had a great time. Great Maple has a wonderful ambiance for brunch. It's conveniently located in Fashion Island, next to Nordstrom.

Sweet & Savory at the same time! Seasonal cocktail. Pumpkin smash was delicious!!!! Must get during the holiday season I guess. Cauliflower hummus was good. Great portion on this. Parmesan Truffle fries order was also good. Atmosphere and vibe was relaxed. (10/10) We were at this establishment from 1 PM (Our reservation time). Table was ready for us. 2 of our party of 7 arrived well past the reservation time. Hostess sat us without any qualms. I am glad the restaurant was not a stickler for having the full party. We stayed till 3 PM. Employee assisting us never pressured us into ordering, leaving, etc. Service was phenomenal. Employee (Ariana) was very attentive. Not at all pushy, and got us what we needed for the most part at the time we wanted. Couple of my friends were underwhelmed by the dishes they had ordered. She noticed that we had not touched those 2 items, and took it upon herself to inquire about it, and when told of their displeasure, she spoke to her manager and removed the items from our receipt. Great & unique food, lovely service, fun atmosphere. This restaurant has my recommendation!

Brandon, I took your advice and came back, and boy am I happy you did! I had Evan as our waiter outside in the patio. He was just amazing! Talk about on top of his game. Every time my water was empty it was filled, he would come back numerous times to make sure we were okay and was enjoying everything. From the appetizer to the meal. From being greeted by Julia, who was just the sweetest host I had ever chit chatted with while waiting for my boyfriend to join me. This experience was just all around much much better then before. Although the food is good... this isn't a bang for your buck orders pancake pops, & got three corn dogs for the price of $18 i was upset he even called them corn dogs as he brought them to me please read carefully . I've been meaning to write a full review for this place. Over the past year or so, I have been here 5 or more times for lunch and dinner. Their website notes they offer "seasonal produce." True to form, the menu has changed since I first started coming here. I miss the Pots and Greens salad I used to get with the potato zucchini pancake, so I hope they bring it back for the Spring. That information aside, I've always enjoyed my meals here. Tonight's early dinner was no exception. Firstly, I haven't seen the seemingly stuck-up hosts in the past couple visits, which is nice. The hosts this evening were warm and welcoming, just the way hosts should be. When seated, our server greeted us right away and took our drink orders as well as introduced himself and *shook our hands* while asking *our* names. Before I go on bragging about Andy--a handsome redhead with a colorful tattoo sleeve, a cool hairstyle and a nice personality--please allow me to indulge in elaborating my past experiences. Typically my experiences with the wait staff at Great Maple have been very lackluster. My first experience our server seemed like he wasn't mentally present, my others weren't anything to write home about, my second to last was nice but... didn't go beyond that. You'll notice that the bussers will bring you your food as well as pick up empty plates if the server does not... Which is exactly what our second to last server did. I even did the old "leave your empty plate at the table edge" trick and he let it sit there so long I eventually just moved it to the other side of the table. I don't know if he thought it was beneath him to clear a plate or what, but it certainly left me peeved. This evening's experience exceeded all of my expectations. Andy was patient while my mom and I took several minutes to decide what we wanted and even did some plate clearing!!! *gasp* My mom had a cup of coffee, which is brewed fresh and served with a side of warmed cream so the coffee doesn't get cold when it's added. I ordered a tangerine cosmopolitan, which has fresh citrus pulp and is shaken so cold it had a thin layer of ice on top--kudos, bartender! It is delicious. We started our meal with the creamy polenta and prosciutto small plate. It was DIVINE. The polenta was fluffy as well as creamy, so I felt as though I wasn't being sooo lush. The prosciutto was crispy on the outside and didn't even have that gamy flavor which it can sometimes have. Mom had the spinach salad with chicken added. The spinach salad has fresh, ripe strawberries, lightly candied pecans and is quite a healthy serving! I couldn't finish my heirloom and cherry tomato salad either (probably spoiled my appetite with that amazing polenta). However, it was a very satisfying salad. Every bite was perfectly ripe and the burrata on the salad was creamy and tasty. And while the food was great, Andy's genuine attentiveness is what has really changed my mind about the place, and is the primary reason I'm giving the restaurant a 5-star rating. To impress me, it's about the details...to which Andy clearly pays attention. When he carded me for the cosmo I was having a hard time getting my ID out of it's slippery covering in my wallet, so he showed me a trick to help it out! (You stick another card behind it to keep the ID from sticking to the leather.) Overall his friendly personality made my mom and I feel like welcome acquaintances in his home, not like any old diners in a restaurant. Honorable food mentions: -Warm bread -Fave small plate (before I tasted the polenta): Asparagus with shaved pecorino -fresh basil pesto flatbread -individual apple pie PS. May have to update later about my slice of cherry pie I took home! read more

Got the Turkey Bolognese pasta and it was delicious. The service was pretty good. We did feel kinda rushed at the end but we understood because the restaurant was closing. Beware of the strong wood smell when you first walk in or sit near the door. We were debating to either eat here or lemonade but the prices for this place was a lot higher. I also wasn't too impressed by the 15 dollar pizza. But it was an overall good experience and a romantic seating. read more

Food is 4 stars, Service is 2 stars at best. Came for a nice Saturday brunch after Skin Laundry (review to come) with my twin and we were blown away by how tummy everything was. Mimosas - best hangover cure...cause I was definitely hurting Grilled cheese with salted rosemary and clover honey - AMAZING. This was my favorite dish and I don't even like cheese. Mini beef wellingtons - so yummy and so cute! The beef was tender and juicy Portabello fries - they were good but Bottega Louie's are definitely better Ahi poke - really yummy and fresh. Not enough accouterments Blueberry pie - wasn't a big fan The food was really good but the service was ridiculous. Our server neglected us and couldn't even get the bill right - split in HALF..not that difficult. The manager seemed like he was doing damage control. First time at this restaurant. The service was really good, the server introduced himself and was very polite, attentive and courteous throughout our meal. The menu is limited but had great items to chose from. Everyone on our table (11 people) all chose something different. Everyone loved their food. There was no room for dessert unfortunately. read more

According to the website, the focus of this restaurant is "Seasonal Produce, Responsible Seafood and Farm Fresh Meats". The concept seemed honest enough, so my family decided to try it after shopping in Fashion Island. Ambiance is cozy. One cool feature about the restaurant is that you can see the kitchen staff prepare the food and leave it for the waiters. The kitchen is not as transparent as other kitchens like True Foods, but you can still see people moving about. I would find myself watching the staff as I waited for the food. Service was good. My only minor complaint about the service was that we had to ask for our waters after we got our drinks (because my sister only got water). The issue was resolved quickly and waters were brought immediately afterwards by one of the bussers. My entree was the seasonal seafood, scallops with red wine sauce on the side served with roasted tomatoes and saffron risotto. The scallops were excellent - texture was a little firm but bouncy and easily sliced with a fork. The risotto, however, was not what I expected; I expected more saffron flavor and I felt it didn't complement the dish. My mom's dish was what I was going to get originally before I heard the description for the seasonal seafood - moules frites. This is my first time tasting the Belgian classical dish. I liked the presentation in the black clay pot. The mussels tasted like white wine. Texture was good, but I felt as if the taste was a bit one-dimensional. I might come here to try the libations or should my family want to go back here, but I'm not going to personally go out of my way to come here. Even if the restaurant's mission is something I would like to incorporate more often into what I eat, what's the point of spending money if it doesn't taste as good as it says it is? read more

***4.5 stars Came here for my birthday with family on a Sunday during Valentines Day weekend. We made reservations in advance. Let me just say that I think I found my new spot for brunch! Delicious food in a cozy place with beautiful flowers. Great ambience for family and friends. Plenty of street parking near by. Loved the lighting for photos as well. 0.5 stars taken off because service was extremely slow! I understand that it was busy because of V-Day but our server was not as attentive to our party. We had to ask for extra cups and utensils more than 1x. We also had a cake in the back but she forgot about it. She didn't bring it out until reminded and we had to stay behind because of this. Each entree was delivered to the wrong person because of miscommunication between our server and the kitchen. I loved how diverse the menu was. I tried the: + donuts with Maplewood bacon: absolutely delicious! The donut will melt in your mouth. Bacon was high quality too which made this donut tastier. + powered sugar beignets: your basic powered sugar pastry - nothing special. + great maple beef brisket popover: includes grilled asparagus, poached egg, fresh tomatoes, hollandaise sauce, smoked bacon, and herbed potatoes. Great presentation of the entree. Loved the Benedict with the bacon but the brisket was just "OK." Nonetheless, I'm still glad to have tried it because variation on brunch is always nice. This was such a cute space in Fashion Island! Got the biscuits & gravy (swapped out the potatoes for fruit) and it was so filling and delicious. Our server, Jackie, was kind and attentive with our order. Highly recommend coming here for some brunch! read more

Came for a quick bite while waiting for my appointment at Nordstrom next door. Delicious fish and chips. Opted for them because it was quick and simple. Many more delicious items to choose from. Wife had the fig and blue cheese flat bread. Nothing over powering but well balanced. Fish was good. Service is quick and friendly. We ordered a drink my wife was not fond of. We've been going to Great Maple since they opened several years ago. In the beginning, the food was quite nice. The last several times we've visited for lunch or dinner, the food has not been up to par. I had the BLT for lunch last time and the bacon was chewy, the sandwich arrived cold and the service was awful! We'd gone for dinner a few months prior to that and the quality for the price point. Won't be rushing back and I can say if I never eat there again, it won't be a loss. There are far too many great restaurants with superlative service. read more

Went to lunch and the service was poor. The host acted like he was forced to be there. Not to mention the chicken sandwich was fatty and had zero taste. Ended the meal disappointed. Then had hot sauce spilled all over my sons shoes. Manager was not helpful and could care less about our experience. I will never go back. read more

Great food- EXCELLENT service & atmosphere. If you don't know where to go in Fashion Island pick Great Maple, wonderful value, wonderful atmosphere, great staff to make it a beautiful evening. We go here a few times a month for lunch (ask for Ariana- she is the best!), but tonight's dinner was exceptional. The cobb wedge Is my go to but the portobello mushroom slices as an appetizer, steak burger, steak Frites and of course the bacon maple donuts for dessert were delicious. What will make us come back again again was the service from the very beginning with the host and the manager Peter! It was crazy style week OC at Fashion Island. Difficult to get a table at any of the good restaurants, yet they worked quickly to try to get us a table as soon as possible. The bartender was great in the meantime, and then Christina our waitress was really terrific on giving us time to relax and yet being attentive whenever we needed her. We had a girls lunch out with a friend from out of state. It's always been my go to place. Not anymore. I realize and sympathize with everyone dealing with the new normal but to not try to make a nice lunch pleasant that's just wrong. We were seated and and given menus and the server brought us place settings and just threw them on the table. Then proceeded to bring 4 small water glasses but not water. We waited and then he came for our order and we politely asked for water. He then brought water and asked for our order. Downhill from this point on. We all ordered and one sandwich was to be WELL DONE the other MEDIUM. Food arrived, we politely asked for water again ( very hot day) and were brushed off. One meal was RAW and mine was on the raw side too . We pointed it out to the waiter as soon as we could get his attention and he didn't care. Manager came over. Very professional, polite and handled the situation. We appreciated his effort. Then as my other friend finished her meal she immediately had to head to the restroom. Something she ate was definitely not agreeing with her. We waited, I asked for the bill and then took my friends home immediately. Not exactly a nice wonderful relaxing lunch with dear friends. When I asked our waitress about the delay, her only response was, "Your order was fired 15 minutes ago." When I asked why it had taken so long, she simply repeated the same statement. At no point did she offer a sincere apology or show any empathy for the extended wait. As someone who has owned and managed businesses, I know that delays can happen. However, a simple apology and proactive communication can make all the difference in how guests perceive the experience. The food itself was excellent, and both entrées were well prepared. Unfortunately, the service continued to disappoint. After we finished our meals, our waitress immediately cleared our plates and brought the check without asking whether we would like dessert, coffee, or anything else to finish our evening. That was surprising and made us feel rushed. I rarely leave negative reviews because I understand that every business can have an off night. In this case, however, the issue was not the kitchen delay--it was the lack of communication, empathy, and basic hospitality. Had our waitress simply apologized, kept us informed, or involved a manager, this review likely would not have been necessary. I hope management views this as constructive feedback. Andrea and several other staff members represented the restaurant exceptionally well, but I believe additional customer service training would help ensure that situations like this are handled with greater professionalism and care in the future.

My hope is simply that Gulfstream reminds its staff to give the same level of attention to every guest, including those seated in the outdoor lounge area. When I asked for extra salsa, another girl brought it immediately with a cheerful smile (in LA, I would get a dead-eyed Gen Z stare followed by a sigh that the additional tablespoon of salsa would be a $4 charge). We had the breakfast burrito (massive, could've just split this) and the 2+2+2 with buttermilk pancakes (fluffy bites of heaven). I loved the cinnamon pancake too, but suggest this as a table share vs a standalone meal unless you have a major sweet tooth. Total including coffee was just over $50. Just go - you'll leave with a very full belly but can burn it off hiking at crystal cove!

Chef Danny also hit it out of the park with the food, served warm & perfectly cooked. I had several compliments from guests, particularly the crab cakes which got rave reviews! Lighthouse is right above the docks, with an unobstructed view of the harbor that was the perfect setting for our nautical themed wedding. We even had wedding sailboat docked below. It was a Saturday afternoon, and Ruby and I found ourselves at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, immersed in Christmas shopping. If you've ever been there, you know it's a haven for foodies with an array of fantastic eateries. In Newport Beach, two must-visit restaurants are Mastro's and Gulfstream. Trust me, if you're within driving distance, it's worth the trip! After wandering in and out of countless shops, hunger struck. We were in Nordstrom at the time and considered their restaurant but ultimately craved a more unique dining experience. After some typical indecision about where to eat, we settled on Great Maple. Great Maple was a new name to me, and its name didn't give much away about its cuisine. We learned they're famed for their maple bacon donuts - an intriguing choice, but not quite what we were after for lunch. However, in the spirit of adventure, we decided to give it a go. Despite a 45-minute wait, an enthusiastic recommendation from a fellow diner in line piqued our interest. When our table was ready, we ordered a ribeye sandwich with fries, a Caesar salad with shrimp, and a lavender lemonade. The food arrived promptly. However, I must admit, the ribeye sandwich was a letdown for me. The meat was tender but lacked flavor. The sandwich, with garlic aioli, white cheddar, pesto, onion, arugula, and tomato on perfectly toasted bread, still didn't hit the mark. My only gripe with Ruby's meal was the cold fries - though we later realized we should've chosen the Portobello mushroom fries. Ruby disagreed with my critique, arguing that my habit of smothering everything in barbecue sauce or mustard isn't the best way to taste the food. I maintain that a ribeye sandwich should ideally be smothered in barbecue sauce or mustard for that extra kick, but this one was rather bland, albeit edible. The Caesar salad, too, felt more like a plain salad than a true Caesar, and the shrimp were slightly overcooked. But here's where Ruby and I diverge: she thoroughly enjoyed the meal. She found the ribeye sandwich delightful and the Caesar salad to her liking. Our waitress, Briana, was excellent - knowledgeable and friendly. The restaurant, including the restrooms, was immaculate, and the atmosphere was top-notch. So, I'm giving Great Maple a solid 3.0 out of 5, with a promise to return because I see potential. Ruby rates it a high 4.5. Considering we share one Yelp account, we're settling on a 3.75 rating. I believe in second chances, so you'll find us back at Great Maple soon. Stay tuned! read more

This place used to be called Rustica and it was probably one of my favorite restaurants in the area, my boyfriend and I were extremely disappointed to learn that it had closed but decided to be optimistic about it and give this place a try. Umm...well...where do I even begin? We were greeted by a very nice hosting staff who took us to a table that was literally RIGHT ON TOP of another table. We then asked to be seated a few tables over where we wouldn't have to be sharing a conversation with complete strangers but the host told us that it was being saved for a larger party (that table was never sat in the time we were there). All of the tables that were reserved for parties of 2 are within less that a foot of each other. Nobody is going to be turned on by that. We were given bread and water. Rustica used to have this little basket with all different types of fresh, warm bread and butter with herbs on top! It was delicious! I was extremely disappointed when a brown paper bag with squished bread inside was brought to our table. We ordered the Great Maple salad and a artichoke portobello mushroom pizza. They both sounded great! When the saiad arrived it didn't look like anything special but it actually tasted pretty good. That was until I bit down on something really hard and pulled not 1 but 2 chicken bones out of my mouth! GROSS!!!!! I couldn't eat any more of the salad, I was way too grossed out. The pizza arrived and it looked delicious! Unfortunately it tasted terrible! The waitress was super nice and gladly agreed to exchange it out for something else. I am a server myself and so I really hate to inconvenience anyone when I go out because I know how it feels! I was surprised that a manager didn't come over and talk to us. Chicken bones in a salad? That's not ok. I felt really bad but at this point we were just pretty over it. We ended up just paying for our salad and leaving. Our whole experience was just a disaster. If Rustica had fantastic food and good service and didn't survive then there is no way that Great Maple is going to make it. I wish them well and hope they can make some changes for the better, but I will definitely not be coming back. read more

After a leisurely walk around Fashion Island--jokingly referred to as "Fascist Island" by the locals--my hubby and I decided to go out to eat. We wanted to mix it up and avoid our usual haunts, so we decided to try Great Maple, a MODERN AMERICAN EATERY. The menu was chock full of tantalizing options, so we dove in, and boy, are we glad we did. To whet our appetites, we ordered Old-Fashioned cocktails. I opted for the Maple Bacon Old Fashioned, which consisted of bacon-washed bourbon, maple syrup, bitters, and maple chili bacon. My hubby went for the classic Old Fashioned. Both were flawlessly prepared and absolutely delicious. Our server, Scott, was a gem--well-mannered and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He recommended that I try the Smoked Bacon Scramble, which contained two eggs, chopped bacon, white cheddar, tomatoes, smashed avocado, and chives, with sour cream and onion scalloped potatoes. His recommendation was spot on; every bite was well-seasoned and full of flavor. Hubby ordered the Ribeye Hash, a mouthwatering combination of sliced ribeye, crispy seasoned potatoes, onion, piquillo peppers, tomatoes, shaved Brussels sprouts, two poached eggs, Cajun hollandaise, and chives. He loved every morsel of it and even helped himself to some of my scramble. Despite having healthy appetites, we had plenty of food left over. I don't believe in wasting food, especially when it's this good. The generous portions and friendly service made our experience even better. We celebrated a friend's birthday at Great Maple, located in Fashion Island Mall, and it was a enjoyable experience. Despite arriving 15 minutes late for our reservation, we were seated without any hassle. Our server was incredibly sweet, setting a positive tone for the day. We kicked things off with a mimosa kit, which was perfect for our group of four, featuring a bottle of champagne and refreshing juices--pineapple and lavender lemonade. Each of us ordered different dishes to sample everything on the menu. We began with the famous maple bacon donuts and the seasonal strawberry and cream donut, alongside a tasty portobello mushroom dish. The donuts were huge but so tasty . My personal favorite was the ribeye hash; it was packed with flavor and really satisfying. We also tried the French toast logs, which were delicious--made with brioche bread and paired with warm maple bacon syrup that simply melted in my mouth. One of my friends chose the fried chicken and donuts, and we all agreed the chicken was fantastic, bursting with flavor. Decided to stroll into Fashion Island last Saturday, and found this eloquent restaurant right in front of my favorite store Nordstrom. There was a hefty line, so my son and I decided to see what the fuss was all about. Once we saw the menu it was clear it was somewhere we would need to eat right away. Since there were only two of us, we got to pass up the line and just sit at a high-rise table near the entrance and bar. Usually, I'll say no to such a high trafficked spot but who could pass up an hour wait? We were then greeted by a young man named Erick. He was very down to earth and not snooty like a lot of the other servers I have encountered in Newport. He dropped off some water and asked if we would like anything else to drink. I exclaimed YES! I promptly ordered the Great Mule, it seemed so refreshing with Hibiscus infused vodka and some ginger beer. To start our meal, I ordered the Truffled Deviled Eggs which Erick courteously suggested. Let me tell you they were the best deviled eggs I have ever tried! No offense to my mother but they beat her Thanksgiving Deviled Eggs by a long shot. After a couple of less-than-ideal visits, Judy and the team at Great Maple graciously invited my husband and me to give their restaurant another try, and we couldn't be happier that we did! From the moment we arrived, the experience was seamless, as we were seated promptly, which added to the convenience and enjoyment of our evening. The standout dishes of the night were the mushroom fries--absolutely divine and perfect for sharing. However, the true star of the meal was the ribs. Tender, fall-off-the-bone perfection, packed with incredible flavor--these ribs are simply unparalleled. I can't imagine a better place to enjoy such a delightful dish, and they are, without a doubt, a must-try. Paired with their warm, buttery biscuit, it was a perfect combination. To balance the richness, we also tried the Caesar salad, and it did not disappoint--fresh and full of flavor. I foresee these three dishes becoming our go-to choices on future visits. I must admit, I'm not particularly fond of the donuts, as the thick, dense texture is not to my taste. However, their beignets more than make up for it--light, airy, and utterly delicious! RELATABLE: I don't normally go out to eat, but when I do my expectations are high. For one, I never heard of Great Maple and was introduced during a mini event where we tasted Maple Glazed Donuts and were given Donut cards! I decided to check out their happy hour with a colleague. Best decision ever. The two bartenders David and Charles were so personable. They basically suggested our whole order and made sure everything came out correct. The conversations were right on! We ordered the truffles Devil eggs and portobello fries. It was a generous portion and tasted great. Awesome deal for happy hour. And how can we not finish with the DONUTS! Bacon and maple glazed, how can you not love that. It got me super excited. The drinks are strong! Just how I like it! But portioned our well. We ordered... GUESS? Maple bacon old fashioned. They literally torch the bacon. It's a great garnish for this drink. The wine list is really good. Would love to see maybe Justin or the Prisoner on the menu. Had lunch with a friend on Tuesday, May 27...we both ordered the flat iron steak...I was very specific about what I wanted and not wanted on my steak due to allergies, that I needed to change the vegetable normally that comes with this entree; the potatoes au gratin that came with the dish was fine; it was a very long wait for our entrees and we never were offered any bread; when the entrees finally arrived, my steak had sauce on top that I specifically asked to be plain, no sauce, there was pepper sprinkled all over the vegetable, which I specifically cautioned not to add, and the potatoes au gratin were missing; so my entire steak dish had to be redone which took another long wait. I was appalled that so many errors were made with regards to my order; why didn't the server "write" down the details of my order??? It would've eliminated these errors and the unacceptable long wait. Well, because the steamed spinach was not drained properly, my "new" steak entree arrived swimming in water. Yes, I did have potatoes au gratin on my plate this time! For the $25 price of this steak entree and the negative dining experience, I will not return. read more

This is a must read! First of all, let me tell you this year has been real tough for me when it comes to finding options for in restaurants. I stumbled across Great Maple with my family this afternoon, and my kids loved the menu, but again their wasn't many options for vegetarians. We were greeted by a very sweet waitress Ariana, who was polite and personable. I order a bottle of wine, and surprise surprise, its half off bottle of wine. Got to have my La Crema! Half off bottles of wine is automatic 5 star experience! As we were deciding what to order, we asked Ariana about vegetarian options, and luckily the manager Dru was there to help answer all the questions I had. He suggested I ordered the Vegetable bowl, which was not on the menu! I He also suggested the Snap peas with citrus sauce!!! Excellent choices. My family of course indulged in the savory dishes like Chicken and Doughnuts and Prime Rib Sandwhich. Everything tasted FANTASTIC!! The one regret I have was not experiencing Great Maple sooner!! An Exceptional Lunch Experience at Great Maple Newport Beach! Our recent lunch at Great Maple in Newport Beach was absolutely fantastic from start to finish! We were seated very quickly, which was a pleasant surprise for lunchtime, and our waitress, Ariana, greeted us almost immediately. She promptly brought waters for everyone at the table and efficiently took our drink order. For my main course, I ordered the pecan-crusted maple salmon, which was served on a bed of riced cauliflower and broccoli. It was truly amazing--perfectly cooked and incredibly moist. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his cobb wedge salad, noting how flavorful it was. To cap off our meal, we indulged in an order of beignets with a side of lemon curd. So happy to find such a great new restaurant in Fashion Island! This place has such great food and drinks - perfect for summer. The fun part is this restaurant has a "seasonal menu" so I know I'll be just as happy when the seasons change :-) First things first - the drinks! You have to try the Raspberry Lemon Drop and the Fresh Tangerine Cosmo. Both are unique and tasty - not your average cocktail :) I love the use of fresh ingredients, too. On to the food...where do I begin! For starters, try the Grilled Prawns - they are seasoned perfectly, and I loved this dish. I really enjoyed my Fried Pasta, too. My mouth waters thinking about this dish - pan fried penne pasta, juicy cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, egg, and fennel sausage - yum! I enjoyed the food but found that the waiter tried to upsell way too much. Why would I add cheese to a lamb burger that was carefully crafted by a chef with specific sauces? When my 13 year old asked for a child's menu he told gave her one but was very condescending and told her she could not order from it. HE humiliated her. How dare he!!! Not all 13 year olds like arugula flatbread pesto or adult food. Sometimes they just want mac and cheese and chicken fingers!!! Furthermore, they cleared the plates while I was taking my last bite. I didn't have a chance to savor the last few truffle fries. They offered to replace them, I denied. The manager apologized and offered dessert. i denied. I just wanted to get out of there. Very unpleasant dinning experience for me. The hostess was unfriendly with attitude and the waiter was insincere. Basically, if you are not ordering appetizers, alcoholic beverages, desserts, they will clear you out quickly. Let me just start off by saying that I've been to the Great Maple a couple of times, and I've never had the dessert! I know right? It's kind of unbelievable. But, I'm totally regretting everytime I didn't induge in the art of donut indulgence! Mason, suggested the seasonal doughnuts, and they were everything. And, he was great but more on that on later. The donuts were fluffy, delicious, and totally had the right amount of glaze. I'm actually craving them again, while I write this review. Who knew a couple of glasses of cab could pair so well with doughnuts! Now, now it wouldn't be a 5 star experience if I didn't get 5 star service! Mason was the coolest! He was hilarious, but not too hilarious to become annoying. You know the type of service? We've all had one of those before ya know? We were trying to find a place for early dinner last Monday night and this was walking distance from the hotel, so we chose to go inside. There was an outdoor patio, but it seemed a bit too hot for us. We were impressed by the design and decor of the place, so we decided to sit inside. Since we were sort of between ordinary lunch and dinner hours, there were not too many people in the specious establishment. We were seated in a cozy booth and handed the menus. My husband, not being too hungry, chose the soup of the day in a bowl (the smaller size is in a cup) and I opted for the cobb salad. The soup was a decent portion, and it had a velvety, rich, creamy flavor and tasted great, and my salad was one of the best I've ever had. The portion was huge, for a salad, and it was simply divine. Please excuse the following overused, cliche term, but this place was an EPIC FAIL. The visual presentation is very good- decor (minus those hideous red chandeliers) menu, feng shui, location- all quite attractive and fools you into thinking you'll be enjoying a delicious meal. You will not. Repeat, will not. The complimentary "artisan baguette" is gnarly, no matter how much butter you slather over its slate, store-bought characteristics. The penne with meatballs was just sad. The meatballs were a dark greyish matter, and very hard; MRE's would have been a better alternative. I was excited for the simple & fresh "wood oven-fired flatbread pizza with local organic roma tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil chiffonade." What I got was a frozen freaking pizza disc of flavorless yuckiness. Not happy! The hostesses were also really freaking annoying. Just had to add that. I've been here a few times, and had very different experiences. Most recently my experiences have been super underwhelming. A lot of it is service related. Granted I get it's busy on Sunday, but our waitress RARELY checked up on us. It took literally 20 minutes for my latte to come out. When I asked for a side of almond milk I didn't get it til 5 minutes later. Then my son asked for sugar for his ice tea had to ask two people. It was frustrating just constantly looking for our waitress. Our food was half and half. The French toast was an excellent choice! The bacon is a nice touch and BIG! My husband ordered the vegetable scramble and it was a ton of a mess. The presentation was not pretty at aLl. The potatoes were warm. Wish they were hot. I don't like writing reviews but this time could be an exception. Friday morning nothing to do, I went to Nordstrom to get some stuff I needed and walked by this place! I noticed that a huge part of the menu was gone but hey Pancakes were still on the current menu so why not. Walked in and I had the pleasure to meet one of the most personable and knowledgeable hosts I've ever met at a restaurant, prove me wrong hosts are first impressions but it's hard to find an outstanding one what a delightful host hands up he is!!! I got my pancakes and my girlfriend got a chicken sandwich super yummy! My server she was SUPER SWEET AND knows everything about the menu so it wasn't that hard to decide what to get... It's a little bit pricey but the experience and the food are worth it, make sure to seat outside!!! Plus they're puppy friendly which means next time I am bringing my furry friend. read more
