I should have listened to the other posts. Older guy who I assume is the owner is rude and the food was not very good in my opinion.

I will be 100% honest, this was my first time coming to a restaurant that is set up like this. I think that there was definitely a wide variety of food for people to choose from, but I was honestly not impressed with the way the various meats were cooked. The meat did not taste fresh at all and it didn't have any flavor. It really just kind of tasted bland and I really feel like I got jipped for the amount of money that I spent to eat there. So I decided to dive into the various fruits that they offered as well as other cold type thing foods. Arrived at 1900 hours on Friday night. Every selection that was supposed to contain chicken or beef was 95% vegetables and 5% chicken/beef. Don't let the sweet&sauce touch your skin as it will take soap and water to remove. Some items were cold. The staff was nice but the food was 1 out of 10. Beyond the regular stop in for lunch or dinner, Great Wall has been a "GO TO" for a very large family Christmas dinner. It was kind of our version of A Christmas Story - that included the extended family. I was very bummed to hear that due to new ownership, they will NOT be open this Christmas. Saved yourself and stomach time, head to McKinney or Plano. I usually don't review on food too harshly, since service definitely makes up a huge part of an experience and I'm not a food critic, but all the food was inedible. I understand it's a buffet, but I can honestly say there was not one thing that was tolerable, including the fruits and salads. Dry, stale, limited options, and lack of respect for quality. The big bummer, no ice cream cones. I definitely left a buffet still hungry, which is my ultimately decision for the harsh rating. We tried and we learned. I went here on a Sunday for the first time and I was impressed. The ambience was good. The food was delicious and had a great price. There were large fresh selections of food on the buffet. I don't usually do buffets but they were quite clean here. The service was fast, friendly, and the waitress kept the table clean and glasses full. First clue. The parking lot was empty. Starting with the soup with potstickers, only broth. Had to ask for it to be replenished. The prime rib on the wooden block was almost gone, but they were unwilling to bring more out "because they closed in about an hour". It would take 30 minutes to warm it, was the reason offered. So I tried some shrimp. Mushy. Threw away a whole plate of that. Looked through other offerings and settled for an egg roll, potstickers and a bit of Caesar salad. Tried some fresh pineapple. No taste at all. Owners could care less. "Never again" were the only words I could conjure up as we left. Great Wall Super Buffet was absolutely the worst food I have ever had. Mistakes were made today for dinner decisions. We were looking forward to eating out and enjoying a nice buffet. This was not the place to go. The drinks tasted funny. Even with ice in my glass, my drink tasted warm. The buffet has many options on it, only problem is that the food was cold. One of my favorite dishes is beef and broccoli. The meat was unchewable and overall tasted like it was days old. Dessert you usually can't go wrong. The ice cream from the ice cream machine tasted like it had never been cleaned before. This place is trash..... litterally EVERY dish I tried was either old, over cooked, or lacked seasoning. Came in about 7pm and NOTHING was fresh.... Even when I tried to play it safe and eat the corn nuggets I was disappointed.... How you mess up corn nuggets?? Staff was cool, but not cool enough for me to ever come back.... Asian buffets notoriously are a dice roll...and I don't mean sushi. This really is a winner. The ambiance is very comfortable, clean and updated. I've only had take out - literally by the pound - but the service was great at checkout. They were happy to help me with some addition containers for sauces. This is one of my favorite buffet places! Price is pretty cheap: $14.95/person for dinner. Food is always delicious here, and there's a huge variety of meat available. Some of my favorite are the beef brisket, clams in black bean sauce, salmon sushi, and coconut macaroons. Interior design is done pretty well. Waiters are professional and welcoming! The food was very good. I personally ate way more than i should have. 3 full plates and a cup of soup. We were a party of 4 with a two children. They accommodated us fairly close to the buffet which was more than ok for me. I like the decor. its simple, to the theme and culture of restaurant. very beautiful. The uniforms of the waitstaff and kitchen crew are also nice. Our waitress was kindly waiting by our table when we were seated. she told us the drinks and got us a high chair for the toddler to use at our discretion. There are silverware on the table as well as chopsticks up with the buffet. spoons were located near the soup station and others where appropriate (not included with silverware on table). it is very large inside. they were quite busy. it was sunday around 5:30pm. The kitchen crew was busy cleaning the buffet and putting out fresh food. Could use more dessert options in my opinion. not a fan of the little cakes. When we arrived we got out of our car and i kept hearing a high pitched sound. it would "zing" the super high frequency noise then go off. My husband said it was probably to deter birds or other animals from becoming a nuisance. It was really awful. but i also guess they may have had a problem. so they are trying and thats good. I went with my parents last night, wasn't very packed. The best part of this buffet was the friendly waitress with a very good service. ( She picked up our dirty plates every single time after we finished. May be it wasn't very busy last night? ) I was expecting they will have a HUGE selection of foods but very disappointed. There are only 4 long buffet tables and a soup/sushi station in the very back. The soup station serves some standard hot-and-sour soup, miso, broth etc. The Sushi station was nasty. I ate 3 pieces of spicy tuna roll, and the rice was sour and the taste of the tuna was no taste but only taste of chili pepper. During my entire 2 hour stay, I only eat broccoli beef(salty), mushroom with shrimp, 1 piece of chicken wing (dry) and little of rice noddle and 1 craw-fish from my son(craw-fish was very dry), 1 piece of beef brisket (too much fatty and salty). Honestly their foods was terrible. With the price they charge on Monday night for $12.95 per person I rather eat out at authentic Asian restaurant. It was not worth it to pay $12.95 to eat out here at Great Wall Buffet. Pros: Nice decor and clean restaurant. Great service, smiling waitresses. Con: overpriced, salty foods, not many selection of foods when they charge $12.95 for Adult and $6.94 for kid on a regular Monday night. I think it's will be my first and last to eat out at Great Wall Buffet in Frisco. read more
