How have I not been to this quaint restaurant! Run by a talented husband wife duo. Open select nights of the week, be prepared as it's a very popular restaurant here in town. They offer a wide selection of tasty Burmese food. On the night my daughter and I went it filled very quickly not only inside but takeout as well. My daughter went with the basil beef and I decided on chicken- megorang. We cannot wait to return and try other items!

The reviewers don't lie about this wonderful little Burmese cuisine place. Friends have told us about it, and the reviews tell a story too. The location in Loomis is a little off the beaten path (you think you are leaving town), and in a super small strip mall. Step inside and you find a cute little family owned restaurant that will make you wonder "where did I just get transported to?"... A few tables in the front room and a second dining area to the right. It is important to note that you MUST be patient! There is only the owner running the front of house here. She is doing everything. Super friendly, and being as quick as she can to get tables cleared, people seated, orders taken and served. She does all of this with the most wonderful smile and personality. You will immediately fall in love with her. Many of the diners on this particular night already knew her and appeared to have long standing relationships with the family. We came in on a Saturday evening around 5:15pm and the floor was packed. It remained that way until around 6:30pm. I would suggest coming in later in the evening so the 'regulars' can get in and out. Ok, so now on to the food and why the Green Elephant is such a standout. Everything is super fresh, and flavorful with great depth in the sauces. We started with the tea leaf salad, and pork lumpia. Then Panang chicken and spicy garlic pepper pork and an order of rice. We love spicy food, and requested such (she has a spice scale of 1-10). Our mains were a level 7 and that was sufficient to give us good heat without compromising the flavors. She will also bring you a small dish of chili pepper oil if you want even more heat. By the time we were finished, the floor had cleared, so we know now to arrive a little later. But, return we will !!!

A hidden gem in Loomis that truly feels like home. This family-owned Thai restaurant is open only for dinner, and you can feel the love in every detail. The owner cooks everything himself, while his wife warmly takes orders -- a beautiful, old-school partnership that instantly makes you feel welcome. The interiors are cozy and thoughtfully done, creating a calm, inviting atmosphere. The food is exquisite, clearly made with care and experience -- flavors that stay with you long after the meal. Yes, there can be long wait times, but it's absolutely worth it. This is not fast food; it's food made with heart. A place that reminds you why small, family-run restaurants are so special Highly recommended if you're in Loomis and don't mind slowing down for something truly memorable.

The green elephant is a hidden gem located in Loomis a place where I would never expect to have some of the best Asian food of my life, the service is handled by one person and one person alone a sweet Burmese lady that works her butt off taking care of the hosting serving and bussing of each and every shift. The ambiance is amazing as she takes care of each and every guest with the sweetest and kindest demeanor. She gives each table care and always has the best recommendations, and that's how I got to try the best food. Thank you Green Elephant for being such a gem

Overall we had a very good experience. The food was flavorful and well made... however the texture of the chicken was a little odd in our opinion. I am not sure how to describe it other than perhaps a little gummy? But everything else was amazing and delicious. The lady who helped us was nice and answered all our questions. The decorations were nice and had a warm feel. The bathroom was clean, but the paper towel dispenser seemed broken. All in all, I recommend this place to others.

I had Burmese food once years ago and I wasn't too fond of it but thought I'd give it another chance and I'm so glad I did! This ambience of this spot was super moody with dimmed lighting and plenty of seating including booths. We were greeted immediately and seated right away. Our waiter was extremely kind and accommodating to our many questions and inquiries. He checked up on us several times during our dinner and made sure we were happy with everything. Now onto the food!!!! We ordered the Burmese pad Thai with chicken, the coconut rice, and basil and dried chili beef, all medium spicy. The noodles in the pad Thai were cooked perfectly with a tangy sauce and the added peanuts gave a nice textural crunch. The sweetness of the coconut rice paired PERFECTLY with the spicy beef. The beef itself was so delicious, unlike anything I've ever had before! Made with chillies, basil, and tamarind powder, it was packed with flavor and spice while being extremely juicy. I can't wait to be back here and try other items on the menu!!

My Burma downtown is doing the most in the best way--great location, solid vibes, and service that actually feels like they want you there (rare, honestly). Everything is super veg-friendly with plenty of swaps and mods, which I always appreciate because some places act like removing meat is a personal insult. Fun fact: Burmese cuisine is one of the only Southeast Asian cuisines where fermented tea leaves (yes, edible tea salad energy) are a legit staple. This time around we decided a 6 page booklet with desserts, entrees, appetizers, etc. went for lunch and had a couple items on their seperate chef's specialties and lunch menu. We are family style and still had left overs for a table of 4. Salt & Pepper fish- yummmmm and great size portion for our table. Complex flavors that were more sophisticated from what you would find at a Chinese restaurant. I love salt & pepper fish and this one was well seasoned. Sautéed eggplant- I don't typically like eggplant cooked this way but I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. Chicken kebat- really good and went well with our crab fried rice. We had it made mild which went down well with all 4 of us. Crab fried rice- I wasn't a fan of the Tobiko because I felt like it took way from the fried rice. There were such huge chunks of crab visible in the dish but it was majorly overpowered by the chucnks. Mango sago- Delicious. I have to say I've never had mango sago like this with the blended mango and without coco de nato.

We decided to sit outside, close to edge of patio, beware their pits are behind the fences and ashes fly over fence. I had to cover my drink. We ordered: Burmese Chicken Wings 10/10- so worth the price even though you get like 4-5 wings. Garlic Noodles 10/10 - a perfect balance of garlic and flavor. The sauce gives more flavor Black Peeper Beef- 10/10 I love the meat was sliced thin and full of flavor. Honey Walnut Shrimp- 7/10 huge shrimp, I rate 7 because I am not a fan of seafood so probably much higher rating who eats seafood like that. A perfect sweetness and crunch from the walnuts. The server was great to offer to bring me hot sauce on the side since my friend was not a fan of spicy and if you ask for the hot sauce it is hot, say take in moderation to fit your spice level. I would definitely be back to try different things on the menu since it all looked so yummy.

We were so happy they all had a distinct taste. The tea leaf salad had a good balance of bitter aroma and sweetness from other vegetables. Topping it with the crunch from all the different nuts - it was so satisfying to eat. The Burmese seafood cake curry is on the lighter end similar to Thai curry and not creamy like the Indian curry. Every ingredient is packed with flavor. It reminded me of a laksa. The sour leaf stir fried vegetables is so unique! I've never had this flavor profile before so it was so refreshing to try. The leaf and the bamboo are soft, it almost melts in your mouth. I felt healthy after this meal. It wasn't overly greasy or heavy.
