This place is our favorite restaurant in the area! I think better than alot of thai places in Chicago. Everything here is really fresh, and the vegetable dishes have a large variety of real, fresh veggies-- unheard of around here. Service is good, and the place is spotlessly clean. Everything we have tried on the menu has been fantastic. Their tofu dishes are awesome, my meat eating family will usually order tofu here, cuz it is so good. I've dined in and carried out and have never been disappointed. Some of the special appetizers can be miniscule, but that would be my only complaint. Our favorites include Drunken Spaghetti (nice and hot and very flavorful); Garlic & Pepper with your choice of meat/tofu stir-fried with Thai herbs, garlic and pepper sauce, served with steamed assorted vegetables; Pad Woonsen with delicate cellophane noodles; nice basil fried rice; reliable satay and dumplings. GP also offers some unusual dishes such a Halibut with 3 flavors and basil duck. OK wine by the glass and not too expensive. Better than Crystal Lake Thai restaurants. And cheaper! read more

Every year, my son and I have a tradition of going out to dinner on the first day of school where he tells me all about his day. The rule is, we have to go to a restaurant that we've never been to. This year we lucked out and tried Green Peapod.... SOOO GOOD! I love Thai food and haven't really found a place I like since moving here three years ago and couldn't be happier that we found this place! Horrible service!!! 15 mins before we r even greeted by the waitress. I know it's not their problem I have two small children, but nearly impossible to eat here if you have children that are hungry. We ordered drinks and food at the same time. 10 mins later finally our drinks. Our food doesn't come for 30 more mins. Seriously!!!! Food is very good and we enjoy it. But the young girls that work there are awful at being servers! Not attentive and didn't once ask us how our food was. Messed up our bill and charged someone else's meal on our credit card. Overall from start to finish we were there for 2 hrs and 20 mins! Totally ridiculous!!! I will only return for take out. They need an entire new wait staff! read more

I love this place! They have some of the best Thai food around. The customer service on the other hand has lately been lacking. I had just called to place an order for delivery, and having ordered for delivery numerous times I know this can sometimes take a while. When I asked how long it would be for a delivery order the employees response was "a very long time" in a rude tone, as though I was an inconvenience to her. I responded with "so over an hour?" To which she responded, again rudely, "yes a very long time!" I said "ok then I guess never mind?" kind of taken a back at the way she was speaking to me, and she just hung up without another word. Again the food here is fantastic I have never had a bad experience with it, but I don't appreciate feeling like I have been an inconvenience by calling for a delivery order! read more

Waited 2 hours for delivery when I was told it would be here "within an hour." I called twice, the first time being told it hadn't even left yet but then after I said it has been an hour and a half, all of a sudden they said, "oh, it actually did go out already." After 2 hours, I called again and was told they were sorry and that the owner would call me back later when they weren't busy. Finally got our food after 2 hours, that was Luke warm at best. We tried a little of everything, pot stickers, crabragoon, fried rice soup, for dinner scallops in a chile sauce, green apple salad with cashews and greens, dessert sticky rice with mangoes. Just sorda upset. If your ordering on-line with delivery, their website prices are not what the prices are - add 2.00 per item. (for the most part). I was told to go to Yelp which he said had their menu... nope nothing listed. Cant believe I paid almost 20 bucks for lunch. I love Green Peapod. They alway remember us even though we only go there about 4 times a year. They have great cocktails. I always get one that has champagne and midori that comes in a really cute flute with a rounded bulb shaped bottom that they sink a Marciano cherry in. It's delicious and adorable. With the green and red it looks like it came from a Doctor Suess book. The food is delicious too. You can never go wrong with any of their duck dishes. Rather than small pieces of duck, you get a whole half of deboned duck, crispy skin and all with delicious sauces and an abundance of fresh vegtables. The garlic scallops are great too! You get 8 large sea scallops topped with a spicy garlic paste and a beautiful arrangement of peapods and other veggies. The chicken satay appetizer is a great starter. It's the largest portion I've ever seen. They also have a small reasonably priced wine list that pairs well with their menu. read more

I have generally enjoyed the food when dining at the restaurant, however, delivery food always disappoints. Pad Woon sen's noodles were coagulated into one ginormous tough disc; chili fried rice had neither a lick of chili nor a bean sprout, pea or egg in site but rather a few half inch pieces of green bean and a whole lotta oil; do not be tempted to order "shrimp dumplings" for $6.95 - the six shu mai type dumplings check in at the size of a man's thumbnail and I swear I've seen these little guys frozen at a grocery store for about $4 for a dozen. In addition to being microscopic and overpriced, there wasn't a hint of shrimp flavor in them. I felt I completely wasted $50 (including a nice tip for the delivery person) on sub par food and will never order again. Delivery was speedy so I can't attribute these problems to the food sitting and steaming in a car - it was just badly prepared, flavorless and overpriced for the low quality. read more

The Green Peapod is a Thai restaurant that is clean, elegant and has great food. The atmosphere of this restaurant is very soothing. It is a great place to bring a first date considering the atmosphere is quiet and easy to accommodate your well-being. Another great factor is that it is reasonably priced. My favorite time to go is for a lunch date because you receive an appetizing side salad before you receive your main course which you can choose the spiciness of. The best part of the lunch menu is that it is half the price of the dinner menu and about the same amount of food. You can choose a mild sauce, a medium sauce, or a really hot sauce depending on your likability. I would highly recommend the egg rolls that come as an appetizer. All of the food that is served in this restaurant is served at perfect timing. The wait staff gives you just enough time to finish your entree and the next is brought out right after. One of my favorite facts about this restaurant is that the Waiters and Waitresses don't bother you during your meal. To me, having someone over my shoulder every five minutes is really obnoxious. They fill your water and leave you alone unless you are in need of them. I love that. Well I could probably keep going on, but I would say it's up to you to be the judge of this restaurant.
