So, I'm from Chicago and my biggest food upset right now is that Green New American Vegetarian is 1,753.2 miles away from me. My partner and me visited Green's on our way to the mountains (oh, I don't like this name for a restaurant BTW and I don't even care because the food is so delicious). I got the chicago cheesesteak. She got the big WAC. We went back and ordered 4 more meals to take with us on our trip - screw going to the grocery store and cooking stuff over the fire. As fun as that is, Green's food is so delicious, we weren't interested in anything else or trying to recreate this deliciousness from scratch over a campfire. I'm so glad we got more to go. The chicago cheesesteak we roasted over the campfire that night was even better than what I had in the restaurant. Then on our way back north to Sedona, we went out of our way to go back to Green's and get more food to go. Honestly, we didn't get enough to go and fought over it several hours later (although I'm not sure there will ever be enough). I'm stirred up by my experience at Green's. Their chicago cheesesteak is better than any chicago cheesesteak I ever had back in my meat eating days. That means there's like 3 million Chicagoan's eating cows in the form of cheesesteaks that aren't even as good as cow free cheesesteaks. That's just stupid. It's not worth the cow. I'm trying to figure out how to get Green's food here in Chicago. Can I just order it? Have it frozen and shipped? Should I open a Green's New American Vegetarian here in Chicago, on my block, so I can eat it whenever I want? Maybe. I've been avoiding writing this because now I want a big WAC, a cheesesteak, a karma curry, a peanut chicken... and they are 1,753.2 miles away from me. read more

Even taken to go Green doesn't disappoint. Living with a vegan can be a challenge for an omnivore. But Green has amazing favors and delicious food. My go to cheat day favorite is a Big Wac. Two patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun how can you go wrong! read more

Green is my all time favorite restaurant in the valley. It's definitely bittersweet being so far from their 2 locations (my wallet and waistline are relieved I'm sure), but I try to go as often as I can. From award winning boneless wings to crabless puffs, animal style fries to spinach artichoke dip, salads, fried chicken sandwiches, Philly cheesesteak or the famous Big WAC, this place has something for everyone. Bonus- the location in downtown Phoenix has their sister company Nami next door, which is a vegan bakery offering freshly baked sweets, coffee drinks, tsoynamis (think a vegan version of a blizzard) as well as a delicious brunch menu on Sundays. I was searching through yelp for a nice vegetarian place before I fly back home from Phoenix. Green/Nami is 10 minutes away from the Phoenix Sky Harbor (I discovered) so that was already a plus! The restaurant has a nice feel to it and and very friendly staff! There's lots of younger people going in and out of it so there's a nice vibe at the place. It has vegetarian as well as vegan options and in general it's a nice progressive place. I had the huevos rancheros and a vanilla milkshake. The food came out very quickly and was really delicious! Yaaaasssssss! So much goodness - this is legit vegan food. Sadly, we vegans/vegetarians/pescetarians settle for less than not when it comes to vege restaurants. This was not the case here. I'm seriously thinking about flying back to Phoenix just for this place. I basically did a tasting and ordered the Big Wac (so amazing - totally had that "mouth feel" we're searching for), the Wendy's Pickle (a little fake meat taste to be honest), the buffalo wings (spicy for my taste but still good) and the vegan chili which will soon become a late night snack. My first time at this location and having a big wac were not as good as anticipated. The big wac was extremely salty and lacks flavor. All I tasted was salt but the patty's texture was good and the bread fresh. The tomatoes were fresh and flavorful but the lettuce was watery and felt sparse for such a large sandwich. The secret sauce was also very sweet and lacked flavorful seasoning besides salt. No sides came with the sandwich this was disappointing. There is very little parking and the space offered is both tight and odd. The inside lacks personality and decoration. It's a plain looking tiny shaped space. No nutritional information is offered or known by the employees or offered on the website or menu. Also, the service was extremely slow it was well over 30 minutes before the food arrived. Green is one of my favorite restaurants in Phoenix. It's nice to go somewhere knowing I can eat something totally vegan without sacrificing flavor. My favorites on the menu are the buffalo wings, the spicy chicken sandwich, and definitely the big wac, but everything so far has been amazing! My vegetarian friend didn't even eat all her chicken because it reminded her too much of real chicken. I, on the other hand, love this, because I still enjoy the taste of meat and dairy. Green gives me that satisfaction without having to give up being vegan. One of the best vegetarian restaurant I have ever been to. I've been here 3 times, and walked out a happy customer every time. The menu is unique and food is delicious. Not your typical natural food salad bar fair. The chef put thought engineering the menu. This place is always busy and I am not surprised. I think you folks should be looking to open a new branch in North Scottsdale ! My only suggestion is to have a counter space for online order pick-up so we don't have to stand in line. Food was good though. I ordered a Brussels sprout salad and a local craft beer. It was packed around noon on a Saturday and there was no seat. This is my only 2nd vegetarian restaurant I've ever tried and for now Mew Green American Vegetarian is my #1 go to stop when I want a burger. Omg their famous Big Wac burger is the best vegan burger I have tasted so far and it is well worth penny. I order the famous Big Wac and Buffalo wings. I had to bring the wings home because I was full of the Big Wac alone and the 2 cups of raspberry lemonade I had which by the way was delicious as well. Background: we've been coming to green for over 5 years and have patronized both their locations and talked them up with our friends and family. The Good: these guys still make the best non-meat meat in the business (IMO). The not-so-good: the last 3 or 4 times we've come here things seem too be deteriorating in terms of food and service. Today we ordered fries, the BFF sandwich and the Street Taco special. We waited almost 30 min (the guy before us had 2 beers waiting for his order!) when it arrived, the fries and my sandwich were barely warm. WTH! Hope they get their act together and don't simply rest on their laurels because I want to support them by they need to earn that support. read more

I recently stopped in for a late lunch last weekend. I ordered the Sesame Dragon bowl and we also had some thyme fries and crab puffs. The Sesame Dragon bowl was decent but could have used more sauce or flavor (though I tend to like my stir-fry with more sauce than most). The "thyme fries" were OK but I didn't taste any thyme. However, the crab puffs were awesome. I don't know what kind of vegan magic goes into making them, but I highly recommend getting them! I also had green tea to drink, and it was nice that the four different teas & lemonades were all self-serve & free-refills. I've been trying to eat vegetarian more often throughout the week and Green has been on my list of places I've wanted to try for a while. I finally was able to drag someone with me and was also pleasantly surprised that this is a casual "order at the counter and food is brought out to you" kind of place rather than one with waiters -- good to know for future times I may be looking for a quick bite. The main downside was that the dining area was not very clean at the time we visited. The open tables were pretty dirty as were the floors. I also didn't notice any staff wiping off tables during the time we were there. It may have just been a freak thing and I still plan on visiting again, but this is something I'll be paying attention to. read more

I like to hit up the Phoenix location of Green when I'm in the area usually because I see some yummy special on Instagram that lures me in. Most recently, it was a vegan version of an Arby's Beef and Cheddar. I really appreciate that you can order the sandwiches by themselves now because they are plenty filling on their own. The sides are very good though. My husband loves the fries, and I go for the tahini coleslaw. One thing I wish could be tweaked is the size of the sandwich buns. It's a little too much bread to filling ratio for me. I could be healthy and order some of the rice and veggie bowls, but I'm not going to drive all that way for such nonsense. I'm here for the vegan junk food! Green has long been a favorite of mine. I'd go here over Coronado any day. read more
