It's a coffee joint. And they all kind of taste the same to me. I can say that it's pretty roomy place. The seating's a little more crowded than Starbucks. The menu seems just as diverse. The location's pretty convenient for those of us in McLean. I'd definitely go here versus Starbucks, for convenience, if any reason. The second reason is that it's got a lot of natural light coming in, which is a big plus. Too many coffee shops feel like they're caves. I have not tried the WiFi. I have tried the foofy drinks, and they're just as sugary and fattening as at any other coffee shop. read more

This is my go-to place on my way to picking friends or family up from Dulles airport. It also makes a good stop if the traffic is crazy heading back into the city. The staff is friendly, the drinks are tasty, and the atmosphere is pleasant. I am more of a tea drinker than a coffee drinker, and I'm always happy with their selections. Definitely try the iced blackberry tea. To sum it up, I would pick Greenberry's over Starbucks any day of the week. read more

Meh. Maybe I am a Starbucks junkee but I did not care for the Chai Tea Latte that I ordered. It almost seemed too thick and foamy and the taste was just off. My BF has been getting hot chocolates here for the past decade and he swears by them so maybe I'll come back and try it this winter. We grabbed our drinks to go but I noticed a couple of dirty tables as we walked out. There weren't any cozy sofas/chairs to relax in while enjoying your cup of coffee, this seems more like a fun place for teenagers to hang out and be loud together :) I am going to give this place one more try before writing it off but I will definitely be ordering something different next time. read more

Came here 05sept2016. Place is a nice little cafe with a decent size patio. The patio is dog friendly. So typically I wouldn't bother writing about a cafe and this place would get 3 stars. BUT! This place has nitrogen infused cold brew! Yes! I love novelty and nitrogen infused cold brew (isn't novel) but you don't see it around. So if you like cold brew check this place out! The cold brew has a smoother taste and not as bitter. Little sweeter and doesn't necessarily need cream. Definitely worth trying. read more

Addendum to my entry below (18 months later): No change, except that the unwelcoming atmosphere seems to be recognized by the community. There were far fewer patrons that I had seen in the last. I was in the area and curious to see if the owner had taken critiques to heart. That answer was a clear NO. The relaxed setting and vibe that has defined coffee shops is simply not the character of this place; largely due to attitude of the owner and reflected in the remaining staff. Unfortunate. I have been a regular for 4 years, so it troubles me to acknowledge this Greenberry's has become just another enterprise. The welcoming atmosphere created by a "Good morning" or "How are you?" or other personal connections that characterize coffee shops is gone. No time for a smile, nothing distinguishing; unfortunate changes. The mean treatment demonstrated by the owner toward a homeless man asking for a cup of ice on a hot day sets the tone of the place today. Clearly not an urban, engaging, interesting place, it is just another coffee shop. read more

Tucked away in the corner of the shopping center, this coffee shop is a cozy place to meet with friends to chat. Incidentally, this does not make a great study venue--the chatter is too vibrant and the music too distracting (aka my decision to yelp). When I first walked in, I saw a lot of people trying to work but within 10 minutes, 3 have left while the remaining people fidget in attempts to concentrate. My mochas have been consistent here---consistently watery, so I opted for a chai this time. I found it mildly spiced and too sweet for my tastes. I've seen a lot of people order the frozen yogurt and might give it a try next time, if there is a next time. read more

This is a McLean institution and the coffee is great. Their espresso is more mellow and less strong than the Starbucks that's within walking distance. As can be expected, it is very crowded in the morning. The line moves reasonably well. The wait staff are friendly and efficient. Their pastries are baked on-site and purchased locally. They have the usual high- sugar, high-calorie breakfast assortment. Additionally they have frozen yogurt that's pretty good tasting. However, there really is nothing nutritional available for breakfast. There are a lot of regulars here every morning, enjoying the start of the day and each other's company. It's a good place to book a meeting because they do not discourage people using their larger tables for meetings. read more

This is one of my go-to places when I need to run away to a coffee shop and get some work done. Ample seating, if not always the most comfortable. Plenty of out door seating with dog friendly water bowls out side. One of the better coffee places around, most definitely better than starbucks burned coffee. read more

I found it surprising that they were unable to make an iced cappuccino , but the way I was told was terrible , I can only assume it was the manager ( a lady ) who shouted across my server to advise that it was " because of health reasons "?? Not the best coffee place I've been. The coffee is pretty mediocre but I love the location and the atmosphere. It's a great place to get some work done and it's rare to find places with so much parking near Tysons Corner. I would say they have a great selection of sweet drinks though so if mixed coffee drinks are your thing, this is a good option. In general I try to go to local coffee shops whenever I can and this fits the bill so I do frequent this place a good amount on my way to church. But depending on the barista, the quality does vary. So, if you are in need of a good, strong kick in the morning and can't settle for less, Starbucks may be where you want to go over this coffee shop. read more

Great coffee and pastries (specially chocolate chip cookies and almond chocolate croissant). They bake their goodies every day as well as the salads and sandwiches which are made fresh too! This cute coffee shop has a wonderful ambiance, very inviting and nice out door sitting patio with umbrellas! Horrible customer service. I would give this place zero stars if I could. I accidentally ordered the wrong drink and politely asked if I could change my order and receive a refund for the difference in price. Instead of saying yes or no, the lady behind the counter began to berate me about how it was my fault that I ordered the wrong drink. I apologized for the mistake and she continued to insult me. I have never been so humiliated in my entire life. I would have understood if they could not give me a refund but a simple yes or no would have sufficed. I will never return to this place and will take my business elsewhere! Starbucks is less expensive anyways! read more

Found this wonderful and charming coffee place while visiting my children in McLean. Went 8 out of the 9 days there, for a great cup of coffee - white mocha, to be exact. My daughter orders their vanilla lattes and loves them. Their pastries were delish. My son is particularly fond of the lemon pound cake. My daughter enjoyed their coffee cake on more than one occasion. I indulged in banana bread, which was wonderful. I found the staff to be very friendly and cheerful. The place was really busy at least two of the times I went in, but I still didn't wait long to get my order. Only complaint - I don't live near there! Wish we had a Greenberry's in my town. read more

What a break from a hectic day. Staff is friendly and kind--they treat my service dog like a regular customer, and customers are treated very well. Coffees are wonderful and, sorry, leave Starbucks way back in the dust. Brews are mellow but not weak, flavor-filled but not overwhelming. The pastries are tops, though I do NOT like the nut-chocolate croissant. The chocolate croissant is the best in the region (from Boston to Richmond), in my opinion. I went in to get coffee and saw a gluten free muffin. I was curious about what was in it so I asked. The owner or manager was very upset that I asked and said well rice flour is gluten isn't it? (No rice doesn't contain gluten) she went on to talk about how there are gluten free flours and then said it was too much to want to know what is in the muffin. It's such a shame that it's considered a bad thing to want to know what you are consuming. And bizarre to. read more

The coffee is great and the cinniman scone is absolutely fantastic. My only complaint is that these you g girls working in this place need to put a little more love in the latte's that they make. Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. They need to work on their customer service and politeness. After being a customer for many years suddenly I stopped going there and today I remembered why. I went this morning and I ordered my mocha coffee and an apple fritter and paid $10.36. When I got home I realized this is not my coffee that I ordered. I went back and I asked for the coffee that I ordered earlier. The guy behind the counter after got my order not only apologized!, with hand movement show me to move. At this point I asked for my money back. Owner came and after my explanation she handed me $5. When I ask how much the Apple Fritter was she told me $1.50. When I asked for rest of my money she handed me another $2.00 and was acting like she's doing me a favor and giving me more money. My question is if the coffee is $5 why they charged me over $8 for it. read more

Great spot to grab a cup of hometown coffee. Given the choice between Starbucks and this, choose this. Easily. Can get crowded at certain times during the morning. Coffee is great, service is better. Normal menu options. Outdoor seating great, especially in the Spring. read more

I love this coffee shop! It's much better than Starbucks. The coffee is better, the atmosphere is better and the pastries are better! The chocolate croissants are "to die for". I think they have been getting in more than usual because it used to be if you got there after 9am they were all gone. Now there are plenty. The employees are always nice and I have never received an incorrect order (something that happens frequently at Starbuck's). They do go a bit heavy on the flavorings. I just ask for them to add about 1/3 of what they usually do. Regarding those complaining about the remote working environment - I don't understand people who go to coffee shops to work, so for those who complain about the noise while working, that's what libraries are for. If I want peace and quiet to work on a project, I'll work from home with my own free WiFi. Presumably, if you are allowed to work remotely from a coffee shop, you should be allowed to do so from home anyway. Quit whining. read more

Best coffee joint in McLean. To me, Greenberry's is McLean. This is a place for deals to be made, for friends to get together, for joggers to grab a Joe, etc. The seating is a bit intimate, but the outdoor area is very nice. This is the grown-up joint for coffee in McLean. If you are 21 and under, you are more likely to be at the Starbucks. The service is almost always five-stars. They do a very good job with the service staff and I have never had a rude interaction with more than 100 stops here -- that would not be true in other coffee shops! I like the drip coffee here very much. Cranberry scone gets rave reviews -- very good baked goods. read more

One of the best coffee shops in McLean. Good service, fresh interiors, love the patio on a sunny day, not to mention the good coffee. Well worth a visit if you haven't tried it. I know the 'wifi-limit' is a hot potato. Great idea though to regulate hours on the wifi since it was being abused by too many who would sit for hours and take up large space, leaving others without seats when gathering to socialize. Happiness is going to a Greenberry's for early sunday morning coffee - it's a small place whether in ARlington or McLean but the coffee is tastie! I can't comment on the pastries because I've made a decision to avoid pastries at cafe's like this - they always disappoint me and I'd rather just go to a bakery. I do like the decor of the McLean branch but the space is more limited than the location in Arlington which I consider a downside. I wonder how it fairs against the Starbucks right up on Chainbridge Road and less than a block away - I've seen this kind of thing before in SF - 4 cafe's to a street intersection...something's gotta give. But - with a larger private lot than Starbucks, I'll likely go to Greenberry's instead when I'm in the area. I didn't check out the WiFi situation though, which is usually something that impacts my decisions. read more

It's a Starbuck's quality meets Barney's decor with local coffee shop neighborhood feel. The coffee and tea menu is extensive and of best quality and the prices aren't too bad. The desserts looked tasty, but i was too full after dinner to try some. I just wish this local chain coffee shop had extended hours so i can enjoy this place more. read more

As a coffee lover, I have to admit I really had high expectations when I visited this McLean staple. However, I was really disappointed. The coffee was okay; nothing special, not bad but not incredible. Sadly though, my low rating comes from the fact that there was really poor customer service. I don't know if it was because I came on the Sunday before Labor Day, and they were on holiday mode, but I don't think that's an excuse for a dirty coffee bar and a dull attitude at the register. This is a great place, the coffee and tea is good, the pastries are good and fresh (made on the spot), the staff is friendly and quick. The outdoor seating area is one of the best of any coffee shop in the area, it is in the shade in the mornings which makes it a good option in the summer, and they have heaters going in the cooler weather. I usually just have the drip coffee, which is far, far better than Starbucks, though they have good lattes and cold drinks. Also iced coffee (strangely hard to find around here) and warm cider that is great in the winter and which my kids love. The pastries taste like they each have a stick of butter in them, which makes them yummy, but sometimes I wish there were healthier options. My kids go crazy for the chocolate croissants though. The place is always busy, which is a good sign, but is big enough that there is almost always seating. There is also plenty of parking, both on the street right next to it and in the shopping center parking lot nearby. They have free WiFi and you'll often find a few people with laptops there, it seems like a great place to go and sit and work for a while. Don't come here expecting kitchy art or tattooed hipsters -- this is McLean after all, and Greenberry's is a chain. But it's also a million times better than the Starbucks around the corner which is always a nerve wracking and annoying experience. This is a great coffee shop. read more

I used to love Greenberry's, but ever since they changed ownership, they've been much colder and less welcoming. The coffee is fine and the staff is nice, but the owner is downright rude to her customers. I've been a consistent customer for the past 6 years, so it concerns me when I'm told to move from a table after sitting there for 30 minutes "to make room for other customers." I do understand not wanting people to sit and work for hours on end, but the callousness with which this request was made was unnecessary and uncalled for. People keep giving Greenberry's their business because it's the only coffee shop in Mclean besides Starbucks, but if you're looking for a welcoming atmosphere where you can enjoy a cup of coffee for longer than 30 minutes, I would suggest Northside Social in Arlington or Caffe Amouri in Vienna. Or if you want to stay in Mclean, Sweetbites is a great option (with much better food than Greenberry's) read more
