This little local spot serves a variety of delicious foods to satisfy every desire. The service is fantastic and the wait staff is always pleasant. Weekdays are not too long of a wait, but I guarantee you weekends this little gem is definitely a place where the locals come to. So he prepared to wait. There is sanitizer at every table and they do clean up right after the prior party sits. This is a plus as far as we are concerned. Many businesses have become very lax again. We love their coffee and add brown sugar, this gives it such fantastic flavor. And while you may have seen other posts, we love chilaquiles so this is another go to. We had just spent our whole morning in court and thought we would treat ourselves to lunch. Well this place is not the place to do that. The Mexican food is terrible. I got here at 9:50am. I'm in a power wheelchair. I didn't have a problem maneuvering around the place. The table i was seated at was not the best. Service was slow and not very helpful. I had the Chilaquiles with egg, one of the best Chilaquiles I've had in a long time. The rice and beans were a compliment to the Chilaquiles. Everything was fresh and clean. My family and I were in the area and wanted to eat Mexican food so we "Yelped" local Mexican restaurants and Greenleaf had 4 stars so we decided to give it a try arrived on 2/9@1pm, sat down at our table,no one came to our table to let us know we would be served shortly that was a Red Flag. The restaurant was not crowded and my husband had to flag a server to get someone to assist us 15 minutes later.The service was Very poor and to top it off the food was NOT great, my husband and son ordered menudo and it was lukewarm, the salsa was flavorless and chips tasted stale. I am not one to leave yelp reviews but the service was not great and we will definitely not return or recommend anyone to this restaurant. We went on a Friday, 2/16/23 around 9:30 am. We were seated quick and served quick. I was surprised because it usually takes a little longer. This is where the good experience ends. I first noticed that the serving proportions were a little smaller, this was disappointing. We waited the entire time for a coffee refill, but it never happened. That was upsetting. While paying we mentioned this. The waitress at the cashier offered no apology and just giggled saying, "where you were seating was not my area"? We paid and left. I was uncomfortable with what I paid, $96. for three people? I took a good look at the receipt before getting in the car and noticed they charged me someone else's bill. I immediately went back to complain. They did redo the charge; about $20 less. It did look like they needed a little more help but "that is not our problem". This place is okay! They food was quite good but the service was quite slow. It's in a good location and is open during the day. It's a rarity in Uptown Whittier! I ordered the ranch shrimp and it was delicious. However, there was too many onions and veggies for my preference. The beans and rice were good. I enjoyed the tortillas it came with as well. The staff is lovely, the service can use some work. The food was sub par. I got a breakfast plate of huevos rancheros and steak. Steak was diesmillo steak (low quality) so it was very fatty and had a lot of nerve pieces. We asked for a breakfast plate for my son, asked to sub bacon for sausage. They forgot honestly at this point didn't even say anything. My husband enjoyed his meal. The food was great and the staff was friendly, making menu recommendations and allowing you to sample their famous menudo, which was perfect in your opinion. Despite the scarce parking, the restaurant atmosphere was enjoyable. However, the dated ambience of the restaurant and its poor visibility could be improved. Great atmosphere for families. It was such a pleasant experience that I left and my heart was smiling. 1. It's packed but they are very efficient in getting people in and out. I only waited about 15-20mins. The employees are constantly working and with effort. 2. The menu looks delicious from the Mexican picks to the American picks. 3. We ordered two large menudos. I should have gone medium because they are extremely generous with the meat and hominy. The soup itself is prob one of the best I've had. 4. We will definitely be coming back. My only complaint is that I asked for bolillo and got a bread that looks like it but not it and it was grilled with butter. (I don't like butter). Please get real bolillo! Nice place for breakfast but the service is somewhat lacking unlike it was prior to the shutdown. First off, though the posted opening is 8am (late for early starters) I waited for 10 minutes before I had to leave for an alternative since I had an appointment. I gave them another try and enjoyed my breakfast but with their small cups of coffee, I found I could barely get their attention for a refill and then was "forgotten". I had to get up and walk to the counter to get a refill. They did bring a pot when they brought the check however but was done by then.
