Our 2017 Jeep Wrangler (130k miles) overheated and was towed to Greulich's in Surprise. They claimed they performed a block test, said the engine failed, and quoted us $11,000 for a new engine. We didn't trust the diagnosis and had the Jeep towed home. After some research, we replaced the thermostat ourselves -- the same part Greulich's replaced just six months earlier -- and the Jeep no longer overheats. Either this was a massive misdiagnosis or an attempt to sell an unnecessary engine replacement. Get a second opinion on any repair Greulich's recommends. read more

We took our Ford focus in for a noise and we told the brakes needed to be replaced and an arm on the brakes. Also need it replaced so 2k later we are driving the car home and it dies on the side of the road. the engine was blown. So we paid all that money for nothing since the car actually needed a new engine and is unfixable. read more

So my AC went out and being in the start of summer I knew I needed this done ASAP. After having numerous disappointments with the dealer I decided to look elsewhere. My dad recommended them to me as they have worked on his truck and jeep. They were friendly, and efficient. Car repairs are expensive no matter where you take your car, so why wouldn't you take to the shop that does it right the first time. Car wouldn't start and battery was replaced 6 months ago so we didn't know why it wouldn't start. Had it towed in thinking they could figure it out. Well they insisted on doing a complete dianostic for $200 then tell me the battery is bad. Seems that could have been detected without the $200 service fee right away. They wanted $2500 to fix a bunch of stuff that had nothing to do with the car not starting. $200 to tell us the battery was bad. All the stuff they wanted to fix for $2500 can be done later and for much less. Past experience at another Greulichs is why we went there but they are not alike. Apparently this one is use to taking advantage of the old folks from Sun City. We will never go back to this rip off shop. read more

Great service, highly recommend! I had an emergency Saturday morning. A squirrel died under my car. I think it was trapped underneath on Thursday. The reason I knew it was there is because the smell in my garage was overwhelming! I called 4 places before calling Greulichs. They were all busy and said to bring it in on Monday. When I called Greulichs at 9 am Sat, they said to bring it right in so they could take a look. They immediately solved my problem and cleaned the area where the squirrel was! NO MORE SMELL! Also, while I was there I was due for a synthetic oil change. Their price was $20.00 cheaper than my local Toyota dealer! Thank you Kenny Delisa and the mechanic that worked on my car. The office is clean and well taken care of. When you come in you feel very welcomed. They send you an inspection on your phone and has all these pictures, pretty cool. They are reason priced as well. only down side is one of the employees up front kept raising his voice, cursing, and making loud banging noises. I went for an oil leak diagnostic and fluid change. They provided an oil change service, which I was charged for and gave me the information as well as the steps to have my issue with the oil leak resolved. I thought this would be it and we can work together to getting this issue fixed and corrected. I work in that plaza, as to why I trusted this shop with the task, so I didn't drive home until nearly 8pm. On my way home, my car alerted me to low oil pressure, which I found very weird because this had never shown up before. I pulled over where I could and smelled burning oil. I opened the hood and saw that my oil filter was not properly screwed on and the compartment for my air filter was displaced. In the moment, on the side of the road, I had to grab my toolbox and quickly correct everything myself, as well as go to a grocery store and purchase 1 quart of oil (since it was the only bottle they had) to stop the rattling and made it home. The next morning, my check engine light was on, so I couldn't even drive my car to work. I got a ride and returned to the shop, wanting to keep a friendly and professional relationship with my work neighbors and did make them aware of the issue. I did say that I just wanted a refund for the oil change since their technician failed to tighten the oil filter. They offered to take a look, but I told them my car was 12 miles away at my house. Even then, I did not trust anything else to happen to my vehicle while it was in their care like it was in the first place. This seemed to bother the Store Manager, Justin Ayala, so instead he took to calling me a liar (not directly). He became argumentative, saying I already had an oil leak, that this could be the problem. And that I was "telling him there was a dog in his backyard, but I didn't have a picture of the dog." Moronic, but those were his words. Justin even decided to go and grab the part we were talking about and ask me if that part was leaking. How I took this was he thought I was an idiot and needed to grab an example, hoping his headass argument was enough for me to convince me that I didn't know what I was talking about. Thankfully, he grabbed this example so I can tell him that this was not because of the leak. That this happened because the top part, where the filter is held, was unscrewed, which he still argued that it was the oil leak. Finally, after sending him A PICTURE from the morning, where portions of my engine were covered in oil, did he say he would check with his Assistant Manager, who did help me and was very friendly with the diagnostics problem, tomorrow and see what was going on. I do like this place and I'm sure for the most part they do good work but I think the tech's may a bit rushed because twice some things were missed and now I have to go back for an hour or two so they can take care of what should have been done on my first visit. I had a simple oil change done when my warning light came on but they failed to reset the computer so the warning light remains on. Now I have to go back for them to reset the computer... ETA to do that is 1 hr. (The oil change took less time) I took my wife's car in for an oil change & tire rotation yesterday which takes an hour and they did remember to reset the warning light this time but when I was getting into the car I happened to notice the locking lug was still on one rim and would have fallen off while driving. Worse yet, if lost I would never ever been able to take any of the rims off the car - ever. I pointed this out to the service manager, his response was "Oops sorry about that." It's too bad I have to double check their work but I feel obligated to lift the hood to make sure everything is where it should be. BTY, they don't check all the fluids so wiper fluid and coolant are your responsibility I guess. read more

Now some of this may be my fault because I thought I would get my truck back fixed. I brought them the truck to fix my intermittent AC and I know if it's not broken at the time hard to fix. What I don't like is they went over the whole truck and told me what I may need in the future. I needed the codes that were on the truck because I also had a check eng light on which I knew would have a code but I got nothing but a bill for 185 plus tax. It takes minutes to check for codes so what did they do they checked over my truck and said that was all free if that is the case then they charged me 185 for minutes of work and I have no codes and the ck eng light is still on they could have turned it off in seconds. They put it on the paperwork ck eng light came on unsure if related. No work done. Go somewhere else. read more

There was not a check engine light or any other service indicator lights illuminated on the instrument cluster. I had the truck towed to other mechanics. I was quoted at a minimum $4700 just for labor not including parts. Even the tow truck driver heard the engine run and couldn't believe that my truck was given such an extreme diagnosis. The other mechanics actually followed the line of symptoms and found the truck had a hairline crack at the bottom of the overflow reservoir and need a new temp sensor. I called the manager of the Surprise location just to him know in case the tech need more education or training. Not only did I feel completely dismissed by the manager, I was also told an excuse that the extreme heat probably caused it to fail the block test. So if they really believe that the extreme outside temperature could cause that kind of a failure shouldn't the person performing the test be more diligent in finding a diagnosis? The cost for the parts the truck was less than $200 and that includes the materials for an oil change as well. The oil change was completed to check the oil for symptoms of a cracked block which is what Gruelichs said was the problem. I know the company loosing my business is just a drop in bucket and they have plenty of other customers, but I can share my experience of what happened to me. If it happened to me I am sure it is happening to other people. Consumer beware!! I would give zero stars if I could read more

Appointment was for an alignment and oils change on my 230,000 mile vehicle. An alignment was not completed due to the honest assessment that needs a new suspension and an alignment was not needed. So I only paid for the oil change and had estimates for multiple services, yet no pressure to do so. Definitely recommend! read more

Buckle up this is a long one!!!! I was recommended to go there to get a simple lug nut removed, I made an appointment and dropped my car off at 8am that morning. I didn't get notified that my car was finally taken in to get worked on until 1:32pm. I understand it's not as simple as being seen at the doctors or dentist so I didn't complain.. however it coming up on 5:00pm and I still haven't been notified if my car was done. I finally called and they said it was finished and that I can come pick it up. I live less than 10 minutes away. I get there and the place is closed, no one is there so that I can get my keys and take my car. It's upsetting because had I not had my spare key and a reliable ride to pick up my car I would've been stranded. I have children and work so I need my car and I think the way they handled the situation was disrespectful rude and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

I took my 2019 Ram 1500 Classic to Greulichs on 12-28-24 because my engine kept overheating. They ran some tests and told me I needed a new radiator, water pump, thermostat, and then they told me my engine failed the engine block test and I would need a new engine. Unfortunately the dealerships were all closed so they would have to call Monday for pricing. As this was right after the holidays I was completely stressing out. I decided to get a second opinion. My next door neighbor luckily knew a mechanic and he came over and plugged in a code reader. He saw right away my radiator had a hole in it. The sensor reader said I had 3 sensors that needed to be replaced. I bought the parts at O'Reillys and my neighbor and I replaced the radiator and the sensors. Now my truck is running very smoothly and no overheating issues. When I went back to talk to the manager he said they always do an engine block test when someone brings in a vehicle with an overheating engine. So they look for the most expensive problem first instead looking for what the actual and underlying issue may be. They did make it right by refunding my money for the stress and misdiagnosis. So my suggestion is if you are having an overheating engine or any engine problem at all, I would avoid Greulichs. read more

I made an appt online for an oil leak. Got there and was told that they were booked and the online appt making is wrong and calling in would be best to book anything. I was in a bind and could not wait for my mechanic to open on Monday, and then Greulich's said they had enough room and time for my vehicle. $811 later, my car needed new valve cover gaskets, a pressure wash since oil was everywhere, an oil change, and new spark plugs. I was thankful they took care of me, but the pressure wash was $89.50 and certainly it was not all washed off. I mean it was barely washed off in some parts. In other parts, it wasn't touched. I checked this as soon as I drove two miles home. I was supposed to bring it back after 100 miles to see if the leak was fixed, but after feeling duped on the exorbitant cost of the sub par wash, I took it to another mechanic who scoffed at a $90 1/4 done wash. This other mechanic even said I got screwed. The office staff at Greulich's was nice and helpful, but I feel taken advantage of because I was in a bind. Went into Greulich's, in Surprise, for a service on my vehicle; an 01 Chevy Silverado. Told them my coolant light was on and that the a/c was intermittent. The computer was also throwing some codes. They said they performed all these tests. Not accurate! Didn't check for codes?? Doesn't look like the a/c was checked either, as there is no charge for it. Then the cooling system test says it overheated and gauge went into the red, even though its never overheated!!! Water pump, thermostat and seal, hoses, belt, fan clutch, a/c valves,shocks, valve cover gaskets, vps cooling system, Freon, coolant, and an alignment Revision for estimate $2580.68 Charged $64.37 Ended up having my battery die the next day. Coincidence, maybe? Replaced my battery, (very expensively @ Oreilly) and after thinking it over decided it would be better to have the coolant issue fixed, rather than be on the side of the road or worse. So I went back... I said no to the shocks, vc gaskets, and alignment. Wanted the coolant leak fixed and it's summer.....so, after some hesitation.... fix the A/C!!! Revision for estimate $2264.04 ( KBB $2700 for vehicle) Received a call that my vehicle was done and that the A/c was intermittent. Actuator door not responding. ($782) Went to discuss options and pick up vehicle. So the leak was fixed. The battery was replaced. (As I returned the $265 battery to Oreilly). Claimed the a/c was repaired but doesn't work due to the door!!! No, hey we'll discount this because you paid for the repair. Nothing. Just doesn't work, unless it works. ( Blows hotter than it is outside (110* +)). The kicker. Still haven't checked codes? Battery replaced Labor completed. $ 1895.37 have a nice day!!!! BTW come back for the: Alignment: 79.95 Rear shocks: 174.00 Valve cover gaskets 362.59 Temp door actuator assembly 782.00 Check engine light (that still hasn't been checked)115.00 Revision for estimate: $1513.45 Thanks but no thanks. Arrived on Tuesday, the gentleman came out to me while I was in my car - asked if I had an appointment, I said yes, he asked me to go find a parking space and come in. Then he proceeded to tell me they keep having trouble with double booking and although they could see I had a scheduled apt, they had not time to complete my work. I said no thanks and went to pick my truck up. When I got there they were just finishing up, they slammed the hell out of my hood, revved my truck and almost backed into another car. Then when I got in my truck reeked of Cigarettes. They did what they were supposed to well and fast but I hate how they treated my truck. Daughter made an appointment to have her car looked at. Dropped off at 9 am, her appt time, and didn't hear from them for 4 hrs. She called down there to ask for an update, and they said within the hour they would let her know. Still no call after 90 minutes. Called down again and heard him over the phone tell her they would get it up on a rack soon. Told him don't bother and that we'd come and get the car. As we pulled up, he was sitting in her car in the lot. We got out and followed him into the office and asked for the keys. He then proceeded to give his analysis from the few minutes of turning the car on and said the engine mounts needed replacing. If all it took was sitting in the car to figure out the issue, then why in the hell hold onto the car all day and not call my daughter with an update. Or even make an appt. We got there, dropped off the key and walked to a store nearby. Within 5 minutes I got a call quoting me SIX TIMES the quoted price and they hadn't even moved my vehicle from the parking spot. I called and made an appointment and walked in the very next day. I was greeted by the most pleasant front desk guy named Ken. Super cool person and made my non oil changing experience a very easy time. When they inspected my car they brought me out to show me my tires needed some attention and then sent me on my way back to the waiting room. Side Note: The waiting room had coffee and water and a big tv that we watched The Price is Right on...a good atmosphere. I was worried about the wait feeling like forever, but these guys had their A game on. No big upgrades or pressure sells, just a chill, relaxing wait. Over all I would totally recommend this joint. Brought my vehicle in to replace my front blinker bulb. After they looked at it, I was informed that it would take 2.5 to 2.8 in labor time alone as they would have to remove my entire bumper and that alone would cost over $300.00! I told him how I watched a video on it and it showed that you only have to remove 2 screws to pull back the liner and reach up for the bulb. I recieved a smirk of a smile and he told me that he didn't make the video and they always make things look easier. Took my 2013 Nissan Sentra into Greulich's for complete AC replacement due to hot air blowing for several months. My girlfriend and I just had a newborn so this matter was extremely urgent. I initially took it in for an inspection and quote which ended up being $400 cheaper than the dealership. Tony was my service advisor and he walked me through all the steps and was completely transparent through the whole process. Not only was my car done in under a day, Tony kept in touch with me and gave me frequent updates via phone. Now my AC is blowing colder than when I bought my car new! Have also been here for routine services like oil changes, tire rotation, etc and I have to say it is the most affordable, honest, and great workmanship you'll get in the west valley.
