Great spot to hang out outside and have some good food. I haven't been indoors but the outside tiki bar is fun and inviting and makes you feel like you're on vacation. The menu is pretty big so there's something for everyone. The bison and mushroom burgers are both good and were cooked to our liking. The spicy edamame was good but not the best we've had. The Asian chicken salad was ok, there was just too many "bad" greens and I had to keep picking at the salad. The salmon and eggs they offer on Sunday brunch is my favorite! The drinks aren't great - they're either super syrupy and sweet or really watered down. The service is ok but usually the wait staff doesn't come around frequently. read more

The appetizer, food and drink selection were excellent and came out prepared perfectly. I would definitely go back next time I'm in the area. We took a large group (14) and made reservations. It was explained that we'd be at a long table, but not a mention of splitting the group up between a few tables. Additionally, when we arrived for our 6pm reservation, we were told that a larger group (40) was there and we had to order by 6:10 PM or after 6:40 PM. I'm changing this review. I initially gave this place a 5 star rating because I loved the atmosphere and the food but I have been there a number of times and have gotten extremely poor service! I sit at the bar usually because I dine alone a lot and it's just a little less awkward but literally every time they ignore me and are inattentive. They rarely keep my glass full and they just don't seem to care. I tip well and I don't get the same person but it's always the same. I order their pizza which I really like but they ALWAYS mess it up. I pay for extra pepperoni and it has only come out once where they actually gave me extra and the one time I decided to send it back they didn't remake it but they just threw cold pepperoni on it and put it back in the oven which is never a good experience. I went in there the other day against my better judgement and it was the same story as every other time. The girl didn't even try to come back to me and she walked past me several times and they weren't busy. She wasn't in a rush. She just didn't seem to care. The pizza came out with these huge pepperonis on it that were awful and even the bar tender looked at it like wtf? I just don't know what to say.. It's always a bad experience and it's sadly one of the few really good local restaurants that didn't get closed down or sold to another owner during the pandemic. Raw bacon wrapped around it . Apparently, chef didn't know you brown it around the meatloaf first . Disgusting. I ordered beef brisket sandwich. So tough and fatty , couldn't take a bite . Description was sautéed onions , melted cheese , grilled . NOPE : no onion , piece of cheese , toast . They substituted it with grilled chicken sandwich. The bun , I kid you not , was missing under half the sandwich, Avocado was smoosh and old . I left "dinner" , haven eaten half a piece of chicken breast. Servers felt terrible. Got the "Meal" comped . Which was nice , except for the fact , I didn't eat anyway . They also discounted the other meals . Sad to say , we won't be going back. My sister and I spent the night out at Ormond Beach, and I was super stoked when she found a Gastropub to go to. I love me a GOOD Gastropub. That was not the case so much.. Walking into Grind, I was excited! The decor was pretty awesome inside. Had kind of a steam punk feel with there being different gears trimming the ceiling. Another great aspect to the theme, was that the owner put his own personal collection of Fierce Chick Prints all throughout the restaurant. Seems like we waited forever for the waitress to even bring our water. Not a good start. Being that we've never been there, we asked our waitress about dishes, but she didn't seem to know too much. She said she was new, so biggie. The menu was clever in the fact that the names of the dishes related to song titles. We started off with an app called "Here Comes the Rooster". All-natural fresh Boneless Breast Chicken Satays with Asian Slaw & a Sweet Thai Chili Aioli. The dish itself needed more sauce on the chicken other than just a small drizzle. However, the real problem was the sauce had no taste! For a Sweet Thai Chili Aioli, I expecting some sweetness with a little kick. No kick here WHAT SO EVER. Bland as could be. My eyes however, were most set on the main dish I ordered. I scouted out this delicious sounding item. It was called "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere". It claimed to be Crispy Skin Wild-caught Pacific Salmon, 3 Cheese Risotto, Charred Bok Choy, Mussel a la Concasse & Blood Orange Beurre Blanc. Crispy Salmon with an Orange Berre Blanc sauce?? I was SOLD.. until I tasted it. I think they may have forgotten to put the orange in the Orange Berre Blanc that I was SO excited for. If not, it sure tasted that way. The Salmon was not crispy at all. Completely soggy. Everything else just tasted very blah. No spice, no flavor, just plain as plain could be. Such a let down. With all the ingredients included in it, it sounded like a show stopper to me. It actually did the opposite and stopped the show for me. I might have eaten 4 bites max of my dish and was done. My sister had what the waitress did say was one of their best sellers. She ordered a meatloaf that I also had a bite of. And once again- absolutely blah. My sister was seeking something sweet, so she ordered a dessert. She cannot have chocolate, so she ordered a Raspberry Cheesecake. After ordering, a man, who I believe was a manager, walked over and said he didn't have any more and that was it. To be honest, he was short, not too understanding, and came off a bit rude. I was ready to get out of there at this point. The service took forever and the food was completely unsatisfying. The true saving grace of this experience was the Tiki Bar out back. They had great live music and a fun atmosphere. However, this review is based more on my time spent inside at Grind. The only reason why I did not give them a 1 is because their decor was cool and the Tiki Bar. My recommendation here, is to skip the weak food at Grind and go straight for the drinks at the Tiki Bar. read more

I haven't explored Ormond much, came here at the recommendation of someone from the area and loved it! Saturday night was poppin for this place. It's pretty large with an inside and very large outside seating area. The outside is the nicest in my opinion, they have a full bar, it's covered and in the winter, they have many heaters to warm up guests at tables. The food was delicious (hence the term Gastropub in the name). No one was disappointed with their food and there was 9 of us. On a Saturday night, the place was crowded but they have complimentary valet out back where you only have to tip. The only thing they need to improve on is the main walkway along the outside bar. It had rained earlier that day and that main walkway's wood has smoothed/eroded down so one of the older guests with us slipped, and we all felt how as we continued to our table. Maybe a long grip matt should be all that's needed. read more

We were able to sit outside at the Kona Tiki bar portion of the restaurant. Parking was a tad confusing and it took them a little while to attend our table but we got there right at 5. They were all changing shifts. Then the waitress we got was super nice and very attentive. The food was delicious. I had the funky chicken and it was very tender and juicy. The pizzas were a perfect sharing size. The drinks menu had many choices of mixed drinks and tons of beers. Some of the beers were not available. I would definitely come here again!
