Really love the atmosphere of the Tiki Bar. Food is good but not always consistent. We have been here two times. Also, drinks are high priced for the taste. TASTY! We ordered a little bit of everything and it was ALL SOOOOOO GOOD! Shared a bit of everything amongst us, it made an amazing sampler. I dig this place. It has a good vibe and the pizzas are delicious. However, I ventured away from the pizzas and ordered a poke bowl (my fault I guess). Yeah to just over cooked tuna and rice. The mango and ginger are a nice attempt but not enough of it. I compared this to a poke bowl I had at Break Aways recently and it wasn't close. We love trying new places, experiencing new environments, eating delicious food and drinking yummy beers. Our first time at Grind as locals...loved the atmosphere, we sat inside at the bar but the outside area had a gorgeous covered tiki area that we thought we'd sit at the next time (spoiler, there probably won't be a next time). Inside had an old Spanish house atmosphere, music was a perfect background noise and the TVs were set in picture frames which was a cool touch. Our bartender/server was super sweet, attentive and friendly. The choices of beer were sufficient and served cold. Onto the food. He had The Walk this Way $14.50, a chicken parmigiana sandwich. A frozen chicken patty made with formed chicken, warmed (possibly in the microwave) topped with a spoonful of possibly jarred pasta sauce smothered in a pinch of shredded mozzarella, served on a brioche burger bun. Side was a bowl of Suddenly Salad dressed up with celery, carrots and a strange hint of flavor we couldn't identify, served lukewarm. Onto my dish (which was slightly better then his), the Can't Stop Loving You (in a wrap) $16.00. The tortilla wrap was the perfect shape, toasted beautifully. I should stop there as that was the best part. This was a "Mahi" BLT. The Mahi's flavor wasn't distinguishable from any other white fish, I fear it came from the same place the frozen chicken patty came from. The blackened seasoning was undetectable. The fried green tomato and tortilla were the best thing about this dish, unfortunately. Oh, for my side-see the not so Suddenly Salad description above. Sadly the service and environment did not make the food worth the amount of money that was paid. Maybe these items weren't their specialty and something else would have been better, we'll probably never know. My biggest piece of constructive criticism, don't serve frozen pre-made chicken pattys and suddenly salad for $14.00 at a "gastropub". Or maybe that is exactly what a gastropub does. read more

The atmosphere is truly the best thing offered here! We sat outside on the deck surrounded by tiki bar decor that was fun to look at, all while a musician played for us. We got the spinach artichoke dip as an app which wasn't out favorite, probably because we are used to more of a cheese type dip. We got the chicken satay app and the Thai gouda pizza as our dinner. Wow. I cannot compliment this place enough. Five start atmosphere, service, and the best part was the food. We started with the Teriyaki Garlic pork wings. Amazing. I wish every place would ditch chicken wings for pork shanks now. Then my husband and I split the Bison Burger with sweet potato fries. And just wow. It was juicy and the tasted amazing. The arugula kicked it up. Every bite was great and I wish we hadn't split just so I could've tasted more! Our son got the cheese pizza and that was awesome too! The tomato sauce was a little acidic for him but I thought it was perfect. Very cheesy and a great crust. we finished off with the bread pudding for dessert and it was so good. Flavor was there and the serving size was huge. Cannot wait to come back to Daytona to have this place again and we will definitely be telling everyone we know who travels that they're missing out! We vacation in Daytona every year, this was our first time at "The Grind." I had the Paradise Pizza and it was phenomenal. They have the gluten free option for the pizza which was a good accommodation for my sister! Our server didn't pay very much attention to us, which dulled down the experience because I barely had a drink during my meal. Food and atmosphere is great but service could use a little work. Absolutely amazing from start to finish. Scotty The bartender greeted us well and made us feel immediately wanted even though we walked in about 20 minutes before close. He helped us make our decisions as the menu looks amazing and we wanted it all. We settled on the portobello fries... mmm beautiful. Loved the Gorgonzola sauce. We had the poke bowl, shrimp and grits, and finished the bread pudding. Everything was absolutely perfect and highly recommended. Best was the Hendricks cocktail (don't remember the song it was named after). I don't like gin normally but Scotty did not steer me wrong it was delightful..... even for gin. Really, really cool atmosphere. Drive around back to find parking. There's an awesome tiki bar out back, but not the cheap cheesy kind, the kind that plays awesome live music even on weekdays. Its not on tje water but its an aqesome atmosphere. Inside is more of a load back vibe. There's a full bar and lots of local brews on tap. The menu is creative but I didn't venture too far into it. I ordered the portobello fries. They came adorned with balsamic glaze and Gorganzola (although I wish there was more) they were ok but the rest of the menu looks fantastic. Don't Nickle and dime your customers. Things were good, but they charge you for every tiny thing. Extra pickle, that's a buck, small side of a dipping sauce, another buck and on and on. This place is expensive, but good. I don't mind the higher pricing when the food is good. However, when you are petty with your customers over tiny things like this it ruins it making you feel less welcome. Keep in mind that they are charging for things that burger King... And just about every restaurant on the planet hands over freely. I would think you would strive to be more accommodating than burger King :) read more

The reviews good, the food and environment are not. This is a good place for youths, 15-25 maybe, but not older crowds. The food too is just nothing to write home about which my wife and i really we're hoping our hour drive to the beach would have been worth. I saw none of the staff wearing a mask. The food and drink were great, but I honestly felt like I was in danger of catching and/or spreading covid19 because the staff did not wear protection and did not respect 6 feet of distance. I place this irresponsibility solely on the ownership. My girlfriend has witnessed several painful and lonely deaths working in a covid19 ICU, and it is very important that every member of our community do everything possible to prevent the spread of this disease. Ehhh....a little pretentious for my taste, I prefer more personable bars where tenders look you in the eye and ask you what you'd like, not nod at you and then occupy themselves while you place an order like if you were not important enough to know if they have your attention or not. Not a huge deal but, it's one of those things where they think putting "gastropub" behind the name makes them a better than the rest. I don't mind the confidence, but they are boardering on the hipster thing which sucks....all they are missing is a graffiti wall and a chalkboard menu. Food was regular only with trendy descriptions, drinks were good and stiff, beer is a little on the pricey side. Expect this once you cross the Daytona Beach border. Live music was OK, nothing to write home about, service was let's say....existent, but def not very attentive for a place that wasn't really busy. We didn't check out the Tiki Bar out back but I'm sure the vibe was much better out there. It's a nice change from your usual biker or oceanside Daytona bars, which there is nothing wrong with. This place felt like a little snobby (patrons included) All in all, maybe I'll give it another chance but Tiki Bar instead of inside at the Grind. I got a strong feeling they are shooting for that NYC or Wynwood hipster gastropub BS which instantly looses its charm as far as I'm concerned. I don't want to walk into a bar and be treated like if I'm "bothering" you. I drink Jameson, and I eat anything on the menu, zero maintenance. A fun, outdoor hangout with full service, decent food and drink. There is a roof structure but it is up high so all the breezes will be felt to cool off during the summertime. Bring a sweater or jacket during cooler weather. Our table was waited on by a nice young lady and cleared by attentive bus staff. I think in meal bussers are the way to go in any busy restaurant, so this place gets bonus points for having them. Our party of 5 got all orders right. Spinach dip was really good, brought out in crock and def scratch made. The sushi nachos were delish per my daughter. I enjoyed my lettuce wraps for dinner. My other daughter put away her margarita pizza easily and my husband enjoyed his burger and fries. Other daughter and her friend had lobster mac and cheese and lobster grilled cheese respectively and they said it was very good. Saturday night was busy but fun and we were glad we went. Convenient, valet parking is available behind the restaurant too. I think there is an inside portion, but we never saw that part. Maybe next time, if it's raining! read more

To say our experience at this restaurant was a disappointment would be an understatement. It started with a Guinness that was 25% head, then their new addition to the menu of ribs that were so overcooked and dry that you could not get you fork in the meat, to a dessert of their bread pudding that was so dry I put my fork into and picked up the entire piece. Not nearly enough ice cream or whipped cream to make it palatable and most of it went back to the kitchen. The waiter was wonderful and apologized many times and he mentioned he would share it with the kitchen. We can only hope that this was just an off night. read more

I love this tiki bar! I come here with my friends any time I'm in town. Great place to grab a drink and listen to live music. Patio space has heaters for cold weather. Menu contains a lot of unusual foods, but everything I've had there has been delicious. Only complaint would be that the live music is sometimes too loud. read more

Tonight I shelled out $60 for awful food and an underwhelming experience. My husband and I were looking for something new and decided on Grind based on the great reviews. When we arrived the complimentary valet was full so we had to park in another lot and walk over which was fine, but was certainly a foreshadowing of what was to come. We walked up and stood around for a good 5 minutes as not one, not two, but three hostesses told us they would "be right back" to seat us. From the entrance I could see multiple tables open so that wasn't the issue. While reviewing the menu I started to have flashbacks of growing up in NJ where the diner kid's menu had cutesy names for the meals like "The Batman". We opted for the portobello mushroom fries as an appetizer and waited about 30 minutes for them to arrive. When they did finally get to our table they were ice cold and not very tasty. My husband ordered the bison burger and I ordered the fig pizza. We waited another 45 minutes for the entrees and when they arrived they were also cold. The fig pizza made my stomach turn and I ate half a slice before pushing it away. My husband's bison burger was just okay. They may have been better had they been served hot or even room temperature! The waitress disappeared after taking our order and returned later with the check. I paid cash and said she would return with change. She came back 10 minutes later asking me if I wanted change (as if I would give her a $40 tip), then "lost the book" and wanted to know if I had misplaced it before finally finding it at the bar where she had left it. We couldn't get out of there fast enough! My money would have been better spent if I set it on the table and lit it on fire (at least that would have been warm). We will not be returning. read more

At midnight the manager walked through the bar and literally screamed that everyone's need to put down their drinks and leave the bar. I completely understand last call - however this this not the first time we've heard this manager treat patrons with a serious lack of respect. I've been waiting for this little gem of a place to reopen from their long awaited remodel/name change, and boy is it nice. Loads of pop art adorn the walls under old school brass light fixtures. The ambiance is spot on! The menu- AMAZING. The executive chef Todd did a smashing job offering a true gastropub experience! There are so many selections, it's borderline overwhelming. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for something different. There is also an outdoor patio called the Kona Bar out back. Enjoy! read more
