Had the Italian Beef here and it was a bit spicy. I think the Aju sauce would be better by itself without the geranara. However, the beer selection looked amazing and the tater tots were pretty awesome. Also the bread and meat were both cooked to perfection. I'm gonna come back for sure. Try something else a little less spicy. That and I'm from Chicago so I am super picky about my Italian Beefs. When I asked for the sandwich to be dipped she said no. So that knocks out at least one star for me man. Overall they were nice though. read more

I have always loved the crossroads Grinders and was ecstatic when they decided to buy the old Stonewall and turn it into a Grinders!!!! The food is the same great food. My friend and I walked in and sat at the bar and ordered food to go. We had a beer while we waited and took in all the decor which is fabulous and people watched. The clientele is a little different than the crossroads, a little more yuppie is a good way to out it. I like the feel and atmosphere of the crossroads better, but the service at this one is faster and more caring. We ordered a California BLT for me, a Philly steak for her and a Big Ass burger for the hubby to go. We got home and the perfect was perfect and still hot. Love the chips they make in house. Bartender was great and triple checked our order for us since we had special requests. Think we found our new go to bar. FYI is you are looking for quiet bar and room to spread out this is not your place. It is loud and close quarters. You will need to talk loud to be heard and not mind sitting next to everyone. They do however have outdoor seating and yard games. Good place to hang outside and not have the kiddos get bored. read more

The family and I have been a few times since and enough times to know when a place is doing the right things to be successful. Every time we have visited the service has been great. Different server every time, but all of them friendly, helpful, and attentive. My daughter ordered a slice of pizza the other day and when they brought it she said that the slice wasn't large enough to be called a slice in their book so they were fixing her another. Great staff! Each time I've been I ordered something different. From the pizza, philly, club sandwich, etc. everything has been very good. Same goes for their beer selections. Always changing, with new craft brews to try. As I stated in my previous review I cannot wait for spring so we can sit out on their shaded, beautiful patio. Man, what bad things can I say about Grinders Stonewall? Well nothing really. I mean the only thing that it's lacking from the original location is the crazy decor and entertainment area outside. But it more than makes up for it with it's own atmosphere. Inside you're going to find the same, delicious menu that you would down at the Crossroads. The pizza and sandwiches are exactly the same. Where I feel like this place is better is in it's bar. The beer selection here is top notch. It's one of my go too's for craft beer tasting events and harder to find craft beers. I really miss living down south because of Grinders Stonewall, but when I do make it down there, I always try and stop in for a slice and some delicious craft beer. read more

Came here with my wife after a friend, who lives nearby, recommended. This place is rustic, and the staff are kind of an urban hipster looking crowd, so not your typical corporate restaurant (for better or worse). Had the pizza and the philly cheese steak. Food was fine, nothing to complain about, but not something that has compelled our return. Decent list of craft beers. If it were in my neighborhood I would probably be a regular. Loved the atmosphere. It's funky and fun. Great beer on tap & the patio (nice weather permitting) is excellent. We ordered the wings, a chicken bbq pizza, and one with a few toppings. We were afraid of spice, so we ordered the wimpy wings. Great size, but next time we will go a little further into spice town. We LOVED the pizza. Crust was perfect. Flavors were excellent too. Hubs loved the bbq pizza. Service was terrific. We had a very friendly waitress who was very informative and very attentive. We will definitely be returning to try the cheesesteak! read more

I wish it was like the original. It's not. The setting is great but the service HORRIBLE and the canes beer is warm. Tall beer is good and cold. Did quality is not as good as the original. I had the same thing I usually get food quality was lacking and it was cold. I hope Stretch gets it sorted the location is great and it could be even better than the original but there are issues. As an example it's 4pm on a Friday and we have had to go inside to the bar for both rounds so far. There are 18 people out in the patio read more

We have been to this location 3 or 4 times, and the other location in Crossroads (which is a little better). Our experience with the location in Lenexa has always been the same. The food including the pizza is just ok. The draft beer selection is borderline a mystery unless you are a regular, I guess. They just need to create a list to provide the customer. The list needs to stay updated...very simple. During our visits to the Lenexa location, the wait staff including the person at the front door gives the customers the impression that they are doing you a favor allowing you to spend your time as well as your money in their employer's business. There is just general attitude being permeated by them. If a mistake is made with the customer's order or check, just fix it without the attitude even if the customer caused the issue. I really do not understand the attraction of the place. It could be a lot better place if the owner or management "returned some of the problem service personnel back to society". Finally, the beer garden really needs a little cleaning up (rocks removed, tree branches picked up, landscaping, etc.). I am surprised somebody especially a child has not been hurt. We want to like the place, but we really have no reason to return. There are too many other options. read more

I've eaten here twice since it opened. I can give this place 5 stars on service. We went with a group of 15 on a Friday night. It was pouring rain outside and this place was PACKED. We were told 40 minutes to get a table and were sat within 20. Waitress accommodated our two tables, three families, and nine kids with a smile on her face. Food varied in stars. The adult raved on the Phillies, the kids loved the pizza. I had the goat cheese salad. The fried goat cheese was good but the salad and dressing was disgusting. The dressing was gritty. Returned a second time for a weekday lunch with my dad. He had a Philly and loved it. I had the West Club. It was nothing to talk about. One star. I think their prices are a little high. Hubby and daughter and I stopped here for dinner one night. I was curious to see how the new restaurant was in this neighborhood location. When we arrived, the place was busy. There were people hanging out in the back yard, the patio was full and there was a wait for tables. We grabbed a spot at the bar and enjoyed a drink. The bartender was friendly and seemed to enjoy his job - always a plus! We started our dinner with an order of hummus and I was very pleased that they brought extra pita bread so that we were able to enjoy as much of the hummus as we could. That was a nice touch. Hubby thought the beer selection was good. I ordered the Rueben sandwich which was very good - I loved the addition of jalapeño. Daughter tried the Hillbilly burger which was really messy but had a good sweet BBQ sauce. As a group, we decided the fries were not worth the extra money. Hubby had the California BLT - and he thought the bacon was excellent and the avocado was a nice touch. We all thought the homemade chips were good. Our waitress, Alex, was very nice and efficient. I called in a take out order for 1 salad on Sunday, 10/11/20 about 4:35 pm. I was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I paid for the order when I arrived, and I was charged $.25 for a to go order. However, the website states that there is no fee for take out. The order wasn't ready until about 45 minutes after I ordered it. I received no apology, and no offer to comp my order due to the lateness. The restaurant was not very busy, so I don't understand why it took so long. Very frustrating. Well...I liked it. I like the atmosphere, the food and the staff. All are great. And for those three ingredients, I give 5 stars. The only reason I score it 3 overall is that it's loud...the place is loud. In fact while we were sitting there, I was was speaking at a normal volume saying "shut the fuck up" to the table next to us and they couldn't hear a word I was saying. Had a late night dinner at Grinders Stonewall in Lenexa last night around 9:00pm. The inside was pretty packed and loud so we opted to sit outside at one of the picnic tables. Grinders has managed to keep the great outdoor ambience that the old Stonewall Inn had and it was very popular on this night. After being greeted promptly by our server, we were disappointed to hear that there were no nightly food or drink specials. We opted for the Real Crabby Rangoon, buffalo wings, and 2 single slices of pizza (sausage and tandoori chicken). The homemade rangoon was good, with real crabmeat on the inside. The wings were a big disappointment as the skin was soggy and almost slimey...no crispness whatsoever. The pizza was great, and we especialy enjoyed the tandoori chicken which I have never seen on a pizza before. The crust is thin and just the right amount of crispy. Grinders has a large beer selection of both standard domestics, and craft brews from around the country. Overall it was a good dining experience, however without any nightly drink or food specials it will be hard for it to crack our regular rotation of other area establishments such as Barleys Brewhaus, The Other Place, Fred P. Otts, Minsky's and Brewbakers. Maybe Grinders has nightly specials on other nights, but they didn't on this particular one which was enough to make us second guess next time. read more

Dropped in after work for a few beers with some co-workers and was pretty happy I did. My co-worker said it was one of his favorite places to go and it was obvious on how busy it was that it is a very popular place. It is tucked away in residential neighborhood and has the feel of someone's home and backyard. I would imagine during the warmer months it's a great place to hang out. They have a great selection of beers on tap and while I can't make any broad assessment on their food, I ordered a half Philly Cheesesteak and it was great. I've been a loyal customer for years. My "go to" order is a whole philly cheesesteak. I went to order one this week and I was told that the owner no longer sells whole phillys and only sells half orders with chips. Well, first off I don't eat chips. I work Grubhub (GH) part-time and have picked up numerous orders from this restaurant in the past. Every time I've picked up, the staff has been courteous and accommodating ... until tonight. I went to pick up an order that was supposed to be ready at 6:30pm today. Due to the pandemic, orders were being taken at a service window in the back. When it was my turn, the Hispanic lady behind the window said in a sarcastic tone that it wasn't ready yet and to wait over there, flicking her hand in the direction of some picnic tables. That happens sometimes but you blow it off and move on. We all have bad days and that could've been one of hers. As I was waiting, my GH app notified me that the order status was updated to 'ready.' Since the lady was sarcastic, I thought I'd just wait for the order to come out. She came out to give me the wrong order and I again told her the customer name. She rolled her eyes and proceeded back inside. I was going to be late delivering the order, so I notified the costumer that I was still waiting on the order at the restaurant. When the lady finally brought out my order, I matter-of-factly told her that I notified the customer that I would be late delivering because the restaurant did not have the order ready on time. She replied, "Fine," in a sarcastic tone ... again ... and stormed off. I noticed the box for the pizza she gave me was not hot. Leaving, I had to pass the main entrance. As I did, a large man burst out the door, looked around, spotted me and tore into me. He said that he understood I had a problem with an order ... but cut me off when I started to answer. He yelled at me to NEVER talk to his staff like that again, to never come back to his store. Stormed a few steps off, then turned around and yelled for me to get my Grubhub butt out of there. This all happened in front of the customers. Had he been professional and sincere in resolving the issue, he would've listened to my side of what had occurred. I was so hurt and humiliated after his last hateful remark, I paused in utter awe for a moment, turned to walk to my car and uttered the word a**hole. I'm not proud of that and not even sure he heard it. Of course, I reported the incident/restaurant to GH corporate and asked them to post a notification to all GH drivers, and never be assigned to any order from that restaurant again ... then cried my eyes out. I was thankful it was the last order for my shift. No delivery driver expects that to happen, let alone under the circumstances of a pandemic. read more

Enjoyed our Sunday brunch outside at Grinders Stonewall. It was a nice morning so we sat on the patio under an umbrella. Our drink orders were for a Mimosa special (good!) and a lemonade. Then the brunch course consisted of pancakes, strawberry pancakes, and a couple of omelets. The eggs were hot & fresh and the cakes were tasty. I had the half goat cheese salad with the half Cali Blt and they were really yummy. I may be back again, if for no other reason than the awesome huge patio. I love Grinders in the Crossroads. They lost a certain part of themselves with this Johnson County location, and can't quite recreate what they've got in the Crossroads. Whatever disappointment I feel about that is quickly erased by the arrival of the food. It did not lose anything coming to Johnson County. The pizza is amazing. The two for one deal for slices of pizza on Mondays make this an absolute no brainer. The slices are humongous and hang off the paper plates they come on. read more

Finally came here when it wasn't so busy. The atmosphere was festive & casual. I started off with a Crispin hard cider on tap (my new obsession). It was $6 which is a little more than some other places but delicious nine the less. After visiting with our very helpful waitress Rylie - I ordered the Mixon sandwich with homemade chips & the hub ordered a philly with the mix cheese (provolone & cheer whiz) & upgraded to the Gouda casserole. Our order came out in a timely manner. I couldn't believe how tender my brisket was! The BBQ sauce was a little sweet with a slight kick - yum! I added a little salt to the chips. They had a great crunch but seemed a little over cooked to my liking. The Hub's sandwich was tasty & cheesy & I really liked the casserole but thought it should have been a slight bigger portion for the $2.49 additional cost. The only thing that's allowing me to keep the two stars is the food. I have been going to grinders for years and in the last three months the service has dropped dramatically they have excellent assortment of beers they also have very good food however the service has become so bad I do not foresee going back there. The patio and outdoor space is phenomenal which is why we have always gone... you can't find a patio with a treed area, outdoor games, very relaxed environment like that in Olathe and overland Park area. Unfortunately the service just continues to decline and the hostesses and waitresses are just not what it used to be. Tonight in particular my family of five sat on the outdoor patio for 24 minutes without even getting menus or being addressed even though my husband went into the bar two different times... there were multiple other tables out on the patio and waiters and waitresses were coming out to those tables and then going right back in. I have been a server before so I totally get it things happen but this was pretty unacceptable. If grinders can get back a better work ethic waiting staff it will be back at the top of its game!!! read more

The grinders stonewall located in Lenexa is great for get together with friends or colleagues from job alike. Do checkout the funky decor of this place. Waiting staff is courteous with a sense of humor. Food is out of the world be it a salad, a wrap or a pizza. We tried the Bengal tiger pizza, grilled romaine salad among other things. Grinders is one of those unique places that automatically rates high with me. I really liked the decor and the way the place is set up. The food is pretty good too. I had the Reuben sandwich and the olive salad for my side which all tasted great. Everybody else at our table enjoyed their meals too. The service was very good too. So glad we finally dropped by. Friendly staff & like the home garage style atmosphere. Good amount of room but the inside dining spaces still feel like you can have an intimate meal. Tried the Rangoon & liked it. Loaded up on crab that has a sea water salty taste, creamy cream cheese & a bit of heat. Shared a medium pizza that came out pretty quick. Maybe a touch too quick but tasty. Be aware: bathrooms a little weird, the stalls are in the bathrooms but the wash sinks are out in the hallway. So please Don't forget to wash-up after walking out. I was washing my hands when a guy came out of the men's bathroom & walked right by without stopping. Nice sized beer menu & a lot of outside space for groups & kids. We'll be back. read more
