The location was really easy to find and you can't miss the sign coming from the road or from if you're in the mall Service is incredible... For appetizers, we had the stuffed mushrooms which were outstanding. There were stuffed with garlic and cream cheese, and then with a horseradish dipping sauce. Main course we had the creole PASTALAYA. It was a perfect amount of creaminess yet not too heavy. They had live music ( Jayson Kayne) which surprised me on a Tuesday. His vocals were incredible, unfortunately, they were a little bit, drowned out by the saxophone sometimes, but it was still a delightful surprise, considering I've never seen them or been to Houlihan's in a long time. Great experience will definitely go back

I was welcomed in and seated quickly. I ordered a house salad. She brought it out in less than 5 minutes. It was fresh and cold. Salad was delicious and had enough dressing for salad. She refilled my drink. Then I submitted my birthday coupon. She took the code and then came back and the said the manager stated it needed to be on an entree. I read the coupon before ordering and after our experience. It stated $15.00 off food purchase not off entree. I was disappointed but paid. I think it needs to state entree vs food purchase.

Houlihan's isn't your only choice in OP, but it's a really good one. Whether you're there during a time for lunch, dinner, or happy hour, you have lots of choices. Houlihan's drink specialties are pretty first-rate. Happy hour is a daily occurrence, whether it's longer hours in the bar or on the patio, or earlier hours on the weekends, you have a pretty good window. Mules, mojitos, or margaritas for $6-$7? Sign me up! Lots of shareables are on the happy hour list, not the least of which are their famous Houlihan's 'shrooms or their spicy crusted cauliflower. The dining room is pretty spacious and check out their dinner menu, because it has some proven winners. My lovely wife is a diehard enthusiast of their Tuscan white bean salad, a stack of greens and beans encircled in a flavorful basil oil. The presentation matches the flavor and you can sub out this as a side for one of their main dishes. I also would give a hat tip to the stuffed chicken breast, a crispy breast stuffed with an herbed cheese blend and nestled up against Yukon mashies. So good! The staff is friendly and generally responsive, the drinks are made to order and come quickly, and the whole experience is pretty solid. It's the suburbs, so parking is easy, the prices are pretty much on average to what the market is like out here, and the name Houlihan's still carries some panache. It's not the only game in town, but it's a pretty good one, so give it a serious look.

    Chicken gnocchi rustico

I'll start by saying the food was great. I had a seasonal dish, the Chicken Gnocchi Rustico and tried the Meatloaf. Both were very flavorful and delicious. However, the place in general was dirty. I went to the restroom which looked like it hadn't been serviced in days and after the people left the booth across from us, they cleaned it off and put new silverware out, but there was still a napkin on a seat and several pieces of trash under the table. Our service was okay but pretty slow given that it wasn't really busy.

I was impressed this visit, something wonderful has changed here!! We arrived at 6pm restaurant was just starting to fill up. Deck doors were open with a musician playing outside. They have a large bar area. Food was outstanding and great prices. We will be back! I had the Seared Salmon Pesto which was incredibly good!!

    CHICKEN PARMESAN

Stopped in here with some friends for an evening meal. Service at the table was prompt and helpful with suggestions. Drink order came out in a quick order as well as food. I got the chicken parm and it was cooked to perfection and was a large portion. Only complaint I heard from our table was some of the food was a bit under seasoned.

Meatloaf (hidden under the onion strings)

First time at this Houlihans location. We were seated quickly and our server was friendly and even brought me some simple syrup for my iced tea, as she agreed with me that sugar doesn't really dissolve will in the cold tea. I had the meatloaf, which was more a mustard glazed, rather than a ketchup glazed loaf that I'm used to. While it wasn't bad, it wasn't as good as other meatloafs I've eaten. I tried a bite of my wife's pot roast and noted that I will order it next time. It was very tasteful.

1/2 prime dip sandwich with au jus and coleslaw and a creamy horseradish sauce/spread.

Food - French Onion Soup may be best in town but for French Market/Cafe Provence Service - Good at the bar at least Ambiance - Dark Bar vibes Came back on 8/28/24 for ONLY the french onion soup (avoid the Mac and Cheese) this time. Delivered well for a quick mid-afternoon bite with an Iced tea of sorts. Great soft in-the-broth croutons, and caramelized onions, plenty of seared cheese on top and around the bowl, great broth taste.

This one was presented well and tasted a little better but still not an easy and enjoyable drink.

Greeting from the host was warm and inviting, the gentleman had a nice smile and positive attitude. Our server on the other hand, she couldn't care less about her customers or her tips! She left us unattended for 90% of our visit which frustrated me beyond belief! It's never the hosts responsibility to hunt down a server but she literally left us with no other choice. I chose to come to Houlihan's specifically for their mock-tail offerings, they have two. Both were horrendous!!! I had informed the server at the very beginning of our visit that I would like to order soup after having my drinks, she took all of our menus, dirty dishes, etc at one point and just never returned.

    Don't miss the creme brule!

Some of the people in our group thought some of their dishes were a little bland, but I liked everything I tried. We had the okra and fried pickles for appetizers. The pickles have a very crunchy breading and a dip that was delicious! The okra is very good - especially with the dip for the pickles. We also tried the biscuits with butter and peach compote. They were great! Unique, fluffy, flavorful, and definitely worth a side order. I ordered the chicken and waffles with the peach. It was a good dish. The chicken tenders had a little bit of a spice that I didn't totally love, but they were still good. I also tried my friend's shrimp and grits, and they were delicious. The person next to me got meatloaf and brussels sprouts sprouts and really enjoyed it! He was practically licking the plate! Everyone seemed to enjoy their drinks as well. The only one I tried was the espresso martini, and it was very tasty! I would definitely go back to Tupelo Honey the next time I'm in Lenexa.

We hit the club for brunch with a group, and while the ambiance was pure "Country Club Chic," the execution was a bit more "Sunday Morning Sand Trap." The Liquid Courage I started off my round with two drinks. the Bloody Mary. It was fine--tasty enough, but it certainly didn't change my life or inspire any poetry. However, things got interesting with their Tequila/Cold Brew/Liquor 43 concoction. Topped with an egg foam cap, it was actually pretty solid. A bit of a gamble, but sometimes you have to roll the dice when the menu is trying that hard. The Culinary "Hit and Miss" Then came the food, or as I like to call it: The Great Consistency Crisis. The Steak: I asked for medium-rare; I received medium-well with a "char" that felt more like a personal vendetta against the cow. The Potatoes: Apparently, potato portions are determined by a lottery system. I received about half the amount of the person next to me. Maybe I didn't look hungry enough? The Eggs: My over-easy eggs had crispy, hard edges and arrived at a temperature I'd describe as "lukewarm at best." We also had to hunt down salt and pepper like we were on a scavenger hunt. Honestly, I probably should have just hit the buffet and cut out the middleman. The Service Our server was perfectly nice, but he appeared to be roughly twelve years old. Since he wasn't legally old enough to understand the complexity of a craft cocktail, he couldn't give us any info on the drink menu. We just had to "go with our gut"--which is a dangerous game when tequila and cold brew are involved. The Verdict I'm not saying I won't be back, but consider this a fair warning: if Round 2 involves another charred steak and a side of "room temperature" eggs, I'll be sending it back for a rerun faster than a shanked drive into the woods. 3/5 Stars -- Great for people-watching, questionable for potato-equity.

Unfortunately, the service side fell flat. We arrived mid-afternoon around 1:30-2:00, and the restaurant wasn't busy. We asked if we could sit upstairs, and the host seemed confused before telling us it was closed, then seated us directly next to a loud group despite plenty of quieter open tables nearby. A few minutes later, we looked upstairs ourselves and saw multiple occupied tables being actively served...what the heck? The most frustrating part of this experience wasn't the seating, it was the complete indifference from the staff. Drinks didn't arrive until after we had already finished eating, and despite the restaurant being relatively slow, nobody seemed remotely concerned. No urgency or communication. Just a normal day for them, I guess. A kitchen can only carry a restaurant so far when the front-of-house operates with this little care for hospitality. The atmosphere gives the impression of a place that wants to feel polished and upscale, but the service felt lazy and disconnected from the guest experience. Mistakes happen in restaurants. What matters is whether the staff notices and cares enough to fix them. We left wondering how a restaurant with food this solid has become comfortable delivering service this poor.

The first thing to note here is that Verbena is located inside the hotel at Meadowbrook and it's gorgeous. The hotel is picturesque, and the restaurant is no different. It's elegant, vibey in an upscale way, and has that kind of ambiance that makes you feel like it's worth it to spend a little money here - which spoiler alert- you will! Before dinner I do as I always do and surveyed the menu from home to see what sounds good and when I got there I stuck with my choices and ordered two drinks - one that had a tiki flair, and after their spin on an old fashioned. For dinner I chose their cauliflower entree. We will start with the drinks: no notes. I forget the names of what I had but the tiki inspired one had rum and it was honestly one of the better rum drinks I've had in some time. It was sweet but not overpowering and the rum was perfectly complimented. It was so good I had to switch drinks for round two because I knew I'd drink another one of these too fast! Thir riff on an old fashioned was excellent as well. These are honestly my barometer for a bartender as I make them at home all the time and I enjoy seeing how others take a classic and elevate it at a place like this. I knew it would be good when they asked if I wanted rye or bourbon, which was a thoughtful question. I went with bourbon and it was also excellent. Not too sweet and perfectly sippable. Now I'm going to get into why I'm rating it 4/5 and not 5/5 because it honestly could be 5/5. To be fair to Verbena I think this could be just due to the group I was with so I'll return sometime and see if I feel differently, but here is my one critique: the price point and the entree size. I eat out at nice places a fair amount and while I don't make it a regular occurance to pay $30+ for an entree, I do when I got out and I was planning on dropping some money here. What wasn't clear to me is that at dinner I think the set up here is meant for you to order a salad and then an entree to make a full meal. Or pair an entree with one of their other small plates to begin, sort of like Farina. The difference is when I went to Farina they were very clear about this at the start so our whole table all ordered a starter and then an entree and so forth - yes it was very pricey, but our expectations were set from the start. Now, this might have happened if it wasn't for our group. I was with a younger crowd and they all had been before and they all ordered salads as entrees - I'm not 25 anymore and not afraid to order a real meal (enter face palm here) so I ordered a standard entree and I expected at the price point (especially in the 'burbs) to be a more standard entree size. The cauliflower steak was honestly DIVINE - the flavors were perfect and loved every bite, but it was at the end of the day a $30 singular piece of cauliflower with some sauce and while it was great, I left hungry and even texted my husband that after spending around 80 dollars here I was going to probably pick up taco bell after this party was over. Now, again I'm going to reiterate that I was here with a group and the server did an excellent job of trying to meet everyone where they were at and I am probably 10 years older than most at the table so my expectations and life experience is just different. Verbena is an awesome spot and on my way home I was thinking about how I need to return for a happy hour to get more of those great drinks and try it out again. the tl;dr of this is if you go for dinner I'd order a salad and and entree - or ask them about how to best set up your meal. Plan to spend some money, and have fun. It's a really elegant spot in JOCO.

This review is for dinner in the dining room on a Friday in mid-August…read more service: Courtney B.'s service was the absolute highlight of the evening. Professional, helpful, and positive. Her service was five star! bar: I took advantage of their Old Fashioned Friday Happy Hour offering and thought the drink was just fine. Drinks took some time to arrive. appetizers: We started with the Deviled Bacon and Eggs ($9 as of 08/2025) and the Heirloom Tomato Bruschetta ($15 as of 08/2025). For the deviled eggs, the menu description includes candied bacon, which you can see in the photo were thumbnail-sized. More on Grand Street bacon to follow. For the tomatoes, one slice was the heel of a tomato and another was only half a slice? entrees: Switching to mains, I had the Seared Scallops and Shrimp, which is two medium-sized scallops and three shrimp over beans, rice, and corn ($33 as of 08/2025). Did not feel this was good value for the money. My wife ordered a burger, but initially received what appeared to be maybe the Grand Street Stack. Her Grand Street Stack arrived a few minutes after everyone else already had their entrees. Once we figured out she did not receive a burger, she had another long-ish wait while the kitchen made her a burger. Management politely removed the burger from our check. Perhaps of note, the menu describes the bacon as Double Thick Bacon; however, it appeared as regular bacon to us. details: Although the address is Renner Boulevard, the entrance does not face Renner. The entrance is around back. Plenty of easy parking in adjacent garage. Interior is sleek and modern. Music appropriate level for conversation.
