Went here before a concert on a Monday night, since I have driven by a few times in the past and always meant to try it out. It was a nice evening, so we sat outside on the patio by the bar. Server came up and I ordered a Weathered Soul IPA, but they were out :( so went with a Hopadillo 23-oz, though they do sell a 32-oz bucket! When I checked-in, I did get a free pasta salad with our meal. We ordered a 12-inch pizza for two of us and this was plenty. We got a hand-tossed pizza with artichoke, onions, ricotta cheese and sun-dried tomatoes. Both pizza and pasta salad were great and we enjoyed the sun set from the patio. read more

Long story, short...the entrance hosts and bar staff, specifically, seemed to be bothered by our presence - most of the other employees appeared to be bored or bothered as well - except for Devin and our waitress (can't remember her name, but we were seated at the table in the very back) - they were exceptionally nice. On a positive note - the food was spectacular! We had the jumbo shrimp Alfredo - the chicken parm - and the New York Manicotti! All delish! Food is good, prices are high (for what it is), wait times are higher. Most seating is outdoors though there is some indoor seating. It's pretty stuffy inside though. Super disappointed in Guillermo's. It used to be one of my favorite Italian spots in town, but I think it's become a little over priced and mid. They condensed their menu so they took away my go to meal (pasta tomato Alfredo). I opted for the fettuccine Alfredo instead. The sauce didn't have any flavor which was disappointing. This was our second time dining at Guillermo's and we were very disappointed. Not in the food or the service but their non action of allowing a table to attend a zoom meeting from inside the restaurant. A party dinning in a table away from us had some type of work meeting playing loudly. We were able to hear every word of the meeting. In essence we paid over $50 to attend this lady's zoom meeting. Made the entire experience very disappointing. To respond to the restaurant's response yes we were offered to move stating they we're paying customers (as if WE were not paying for our meal ). And in Hindsight we should have moved, however at the moment we were in the middle of our date night meal and did not feel we should have had to be the ones who accommodated the persons causing the disturbance. We had the worst experience today at Guillermo's. We decided to dine in during our lunch hour. Big mistake. We couldn't find where to check in when we arrived. We walked around the entire restaurant, both inside and outside. We finally located someone and we were seated. The service was horrible. Our server was "new" and kept making excuses for the poor service. The server kept stating that they were running behind due to having a table of 14. It took forever to get our drinks and our salads. When our lasagna finally came, it was horrendous. It was burnt and tasted so disgusting. The bread was way too salty. On top of this, the service was so poor that our server never came to check on us. We had to get up and walk around the restaurant to ask for help. When we finally found someone, about an hour had gone by and the only thing we had eaten was a salad. The server told us there was a nearby drink station to refill our own drinks. We didn't get any service at all. When we asked for our ticket the server agreed to bring it but never did. Instead the server proceeded to serve other guests, clean tables, etc. literally anything but provide service to us. We still left a $10 tip and thankfully the manager didn't expect us to pay $42 for that disgusting lasagna. We still paid $19 for the salads. We won't be returning anytime soon. I've now been here twice. I can honestly say, the best part of this joint is the ambiance and outside seating areas. Love that alfresco set up. But with this heat, be careful you don't go during lunch. I was pretty damn toasty. I don't remember what I had the first time (it was over a year ago), but I definitely remember thinking it wasn't anything extraordinary. This time, chicken parm. Sometimes, when you get a dish like this, there isn't enough food to justify the price. This wasn't so here. So, that's a plus. However, although there was more than enough food, I've, quite honestly, had better. This was good, but I've had better. Their fries though! The way they make their fries is probably my favorite type of French Fry. That orange, beer battered, almost spicy seasoned fry? Ya know the ones I mean. Excellent. Crispy and perfectly cooked. Wait staff seemed confused. There's gotta be a better way for staff to keep the tables straight. A wrong pizza was delivered to my partner, and later in the meal, even though we already had our food, wait staff came over and began asking us questions about our order. Yep, they were asking questions at the wrong table. Overall, I'll be back. Love the atmosphere. And I'll definitely have fries. read more

Had them cater some food for an event. Pretty expensive and never followed up like promised when there was an issue with the food delivered. Paid close to $100 for spaghetti and didn't even get the pan half full of noodles. Had to go to the store and get spaghetti and cook it real fast in order to serve the people. The meatballs were raw and we had already served everyone and had to go back to all the people and microwave their meatballs so they didn't get sick from raw meat. Called the restaurant immediately and got no results except a promise for a call. Never got one and never got any kind of compensation. paid roughly $69 for one bowl of salad and it was filled 3 inches from the top. Only thing on the side was olives and onions and they werent enough to make up the difference. The bread and chicken were good but that was it. Totally ruined our event. So incredibly disappointed in the food and the management. Do not recommend unless you are prepared to have a backup if your food isn't filled like our is supposed to be in the containers or undercooked when it is delivered. Would not have left this review if they had bothered reaching out to me to rectify this but they didn't even bother. read more

We sat on the outside patio with no wait around 5:30pm. Service was a bit slow for the waiter to get our drink order. We ordered chicken parmigiana, kids serving of chicken alfredo, cheese burger and strawberry margarita. The Alfredo sauce was so creamy and delicious! My 6 year are it all! The chicken in the chicken parmigiana was a bit tough to cut. Margarita was very good! A like a good sweet margarita and this was perfect! Had not been to here in a few years. Pleasantly surprised to discover that much had not changed since my last visit. My favorite had always been their classic bowtie pasta salad. I arrived just as the crew were getting ready to open. I think I even surprised the young lady out by the patio's backside entrance. I had placed a reservation online because I knew they would get packed especially during lunch hour. The young lady l ran into outside wound up being our server, Daisy for our table. I had invited a guest who had never been to Guillermo's before. I was hoping that the service and the food was still as I had remembered. To no surprise Yes it was! Our server was extremely pleasant and very helpful especially helping out my guest with recommendations and even providing a full menu copy. Daisy was prompt with glasses of water right off the bat. When my guest questioned Daisy about food selections Daisy prompt ly gave an approval to my guest menu selections. When Daisy brought out food selections she asked if we needed anything else. In my mind I was like,Yeah that's the type of service I remember from before. Daisy, even as the lunch crowd was beginning to filter in, still checked on our needs. My guest thoroughly enjoyed the meal. So Guillermo's and Daisy were both rated at a 5 star by my guest as well. Was in town for training and this place was 2 blocks from the hotel. Started off on a bad note with old brown slimy lettuce for the salad I mean come on, wtf is that?! Decided to try the Texas lasagna and it was shockingly good. Whoever thought of using skirt steak and adding jalapeños was on to something there! Overall wasn't a bad dinner. LUNCH REVIEW: Guillermo's is about a five minute drive from my workplace and came in to finally try the place out with a group of co-workers today. The space the restaurant is located in is very cute and the outdoor patio area seems like it would be a chill place to spend some time day-drinking. I have to admit, I was slightly confused by the ordering process and went to make my way to grab a table before my co-workers stopped me and informed me you order at a counter. The menu itself seemed pretty basic with a variety of pasta dishes, pizza varieties, and a few other San Antonio-esque dishes. The lunch specials caught my eye so I opted to go with one of their Italian casseroles, tea, and a side for $11. Specifically I ordered the pepperoni and Italian sausage casserole because I like all three of those things, despite the fact that the employee taking my order really couldn't tell me a single thing about the dish other than to mumble it had pepperoni, sausage, and marinara sauce-which, ya know, I would have never gotten from the name of the menu item. Spoiler alert, the entree did not come out as a casserole, but rather just a normal looking pasta dish.The portion was a good size but the pasta sauce tasted like it came out of a can (and there was waaaay too much of it dumped on the dish) and the french fries tasted like standard frozen kind that someone just dumped in a fryer. My favorite thing was the cheese bread appetizer we ordered for the table. That was the only truly tasty item i tried. It was enough for several people and they weren't stingy with the cheese, which is always appreciated. My overall impression of Guillermo's is that it's fast-food Italian (You have to eat with plastic utensils for goodness sakes) but if that's your thing and you're in a time crunch (they are fast) or in the area by all means give it a try. I'm told by my co-workers that their dinner service is a completely different experience but based on the lunch service I don't feel the need to return. Fun note: Apparently their is a ghost roaming the halls of Guillermo's as was evident from a large sign they proudly have hanging near the drink station. Guillermo's has some mighty good food in the DT San Antonio area. Just a stone throws away from the new Thompson Hotel, Guillermo's has awesome pizza and salads (house, caesar, and pasta!) Plus some delicious desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth - cheesecake is rich and flavorful My latest lunch visit was for a friend's bday mea so took advantage of the lunch specials and complimentary pasta with your Yelp check in. My turkey bacon wrap was really fresh and delicious (even though I ordered the sliders but was charged the wrong thing) and the feta covered salad was quickly devoured. This proves that I'll enjoy everything on the menu and try different items on each visit. read more

While visiting San Antonio, our family of 3 plus 7 others from another city, enjoyed lunch (on Saturday of Easter weekend) here. We we were promptly seated, which was so nice after a long road trip. However, we were seated literally right next to the restroom. So close that we could smell and hear everything. We didn't have time to find a different restaurant or ask to be moved because of the size of our party, so we sucked it up and ordered. Our server was lovely but a tad slow. No big deal, though. We were busy catching up with each other. We ordered an array of food ranging from a pizza to a salad to lasagna to burgers. The wait seemed pretty long. Maybe because it was a Saturday? Fiiiinally, after hearing many toilet flushes, kids crying in the restroom, and smelling terrible odors, our food arrived. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food, thank goodness. And our server did a great job of dividing our checks too! I would have given them 5 stars if it weren't for the restroom bit. So gross. Other than that, it's a cute eclectic place. read more

I loooooove this place. Not only is it great Italian food but the happy hour is fantastic. HH is Mon-Sat from 3-7pm. Very rare HH is on Saturday and I appreciate they go a little later, 7pm. The margaritas are strong and lip smacking good. I'm a vegetarian and my go to dish is spinach lasagna. It's a great portion of lasagna and comes with a side salad. I prefer the red pepper ranch salad. It's a nice twist on a regular side salad. Service is always great, the hostess, waitresses, bar staff, and parking lot attendant are down to earth and friendly. They have there own parking lot so that makes parking more convenient. Great atmosphere and food is what you will find here! read more

Love the food. Been going for years. Other than the food, service sucks. Some of your order will be wrong, every time. I ordered the same thing each time, the chef Rafa which comes w the pita bread unless you ask for it to be made differently. What I got one time were tacos. Waitress said that how it comes. Yea...She lied about it. Crazy how over the years other waitress have gotten it right w the pita until that time. Waitresses have us waiting on our drinks, can't get a second refill w out having to wave and asking for it. Don't ask for lemons unless you like to ask 3x or more. Hope your kids ate already before arriving because the orders do not get to the table at the same time. They don't warn you about the wait until they start bringing out the some of the order. Our food gets cold, while we all wait until everyone has been served before digging in. Receive less food if ordering take out pay the same. I plan to spend money here bc the food is worth it, the service just doesn't do it for me. read more

Parking: There are many options to park in this area whether on the street or in the back/front of the building! Food/Service: The food here was really good! I enjoyed the food very much and was happy on the taste. They have a wide variety of options between salad, pizza, pasta, burgers, calzones, nachos, etc. We had a big party and they were very accommodating for us! They had a waiter come and assist us. The ambience was great because we had our own area with a bathroom. We also liked how part of it is outdoors so on the beautiful days, you can sit outdoors & there are plenty of drink selections & an outdoor bar. You order your food through the window and then they will bring it to your table. Location is great. The people were great. I had a lot of people hype this place up and I was super excited to finally dine in ! We have to order at a counter (feels like fast food) .. the girl behind the counter that took my order repeated and said she understood my order request, still came out wrong. Then as I'm waiting for the total to pay.. she give me a total that completely incorrect. The total was something like $63.80, and she told me $36.80 (dollar amount is off). I politely informed her that she got the numbers mixed up and she refused to believe that she did so. Then we go find a table, they have food runners (I guess). I saw some act as waiters/waitresses as they brought drinks and requested items to other tables but our girl just dropped off the food and never saw her again. The food was good, not the best (considering it wasn't what I ordered). I asked for the Chicken Parmigiana and had just asked to sub out spaghetti for fettuccine Alfredo. I received a chicken patty smothered in Alfredo, and spaghetti noodles with Alfredo sauce. Then I was wondering, why they give you an actual utensil (knife) but then give a plastic fork and not even a spoon for the pasta. I tried it and most likely won't be returning. read more

I went with a large group and we were seated in separate part of the restaurant. We went during lunch on a Sunday so it was really busy. I ordered the Meat lasagna and it was a very large portion. We arrived right be 7pm on a Friday night. We were seated almost immediately, then it began... it took about 20 minutes for someone to offer drinks, by then we knew what we wanted and place our order. It took another 10 minutes for the drinks to arrive, the salad came out about 15 minutes later and the food another 20 minutes after that... so from start to food, a little over an hour and they weren't busy. No offer of drink refills. Another 15 minutes for the check to arrive and we were ready to go. The food was good, the service was very slow. I went for lunch with a few coworkers. We sat outside and were awkwardly seated. After checking in the host stand waitress asked us to pick a table outside. We sat down and a different waitress approached us in a rude manor questioning on why we had sat down. Cesar salad was really really good! Pizza was descent and surprisingly very big! However, we found a hair baked into the bread the Cesar salad came with. After letting the server know she said ok and simply took it. She didn't even offer to discount or bring additional bread to the table. Just not great service with descent food, not worth going ever again. read more

The service has significantly declined. Last night was the biggest disappointment. I had my heart on enjoying a Dos XX on draft with a Caesar and pasta salad. I received neither. Apparently they no longer carry that beer on draft (bottle only and it's costly). The hostess quoted us a 15 minute wait. Well, after waiting 30 minutes I approached the hostess stand only to be told two more minutes. She was very unapologetic. A moment later she proceeded to seat the couple who arrived after us. We waited five more minutes and ultimately left. The most mind blowing thing is we never received a call or text that evening to say our table was ready! read more

I ordered a small pepperoni pizza I can swear the pizza was a generic HEB pizza. Unbelievably horrible. It arrived cold, I requested it be reheated. Unbelievably tasteless. Not of any good quality. Tomorrow I will call and speak to the manager. Perhaps the pepperoni pizza was a bad choice. read more
