First time going here, and was pleasantly surprised! Their gyros are affordable and very good. I tried the chili gyro, deluxe chicken, original gyro, and deluxe gyro as well. All of them tasted great. The prices vary depending on which gyro you get but I believe the most expensive one I saw was 7.99. Friendly staff as well, I would recommend this place. read more

Fast casual delicious Greek gyros-enough said of course that'd be too short of a review lol. I eat here at least once a week; they have several options. My three favorites are the traditional, the spicy, or the Philly. The shaved meat they use for their gyros is perfectly seasoned with a little bit of crunch/char from the edges and one of the reasons why I keep coming back.I love the spicy gyro which has a really good red sauce on it that really ups the spice level.I recently discovered that they have a spicy green sauce too which they make fresh daily. Actually prefer that over the spicy red sauce make sure to ask for that sort of like a hidden menu item. If I want to change it up; my go to is The Philly which is actually one of my favorites because it's made with cheddar cheese and then the green and white onions which are them sautéed on the grilltop. I love that each of their gyros are unique and flavorful best gyros in Boise. So if you're looking for something fast yummy and delicious this is a definite must stop the best gyro in town. If you are on social media you should like them on FB; they sometimes offer some great specials on FB as well as they have a a frequent buyer program which is another great way to enjoy their gyros warm sweet rewards!! I got the Super Gyro combo for $7.25. It came with a 22oz drink and a side. Everything was phenomenal. I chose the Greek Salad as my side, and it really hit the spot. I ordered some baklava, and the girl at the window accidentally forgot to give it to me. I came back around like 10 minutes later, and she gave me two pieces to make up for the mistake. Obviously, I ate both. That was my first experience with the Gyro Shack, but I'm 99.99% sure that there's not a single bad item on that menu. I'm sold. read more

I feel fortunate to have the Gyro Shack close to my work for a quick and satisfying lunch. I love Greek gyros and the red or green spicy gyros are top notch. The meat is seasoned so nicely and I am salivating right now just thinking about it. The lines at the drive through are sometimes long at lunch but they get the food out pretty quickly. Went here for lunch looking forward to it since it now has a dine in restaurant. We were hoping it had expanded its menu with fried falafel, since I have had their baked falafel and found it to be super dry and tasteless before. But when we got there, they had no fryer for falafel or fries, so we ordered the spicy and the super gyros, salads, and the pita fries. The pita fries were tiny pieces and dry. Gyros were ok. And the salads were pre prepped and obviously stored, because the lettuce and cucumbers were frozen. Salads were not freshly made. Also, everything came packaged in an excessive amount of plastic packaging. The food was packaged for to go, it was like getting to go food and then just sitting inside. The amount of waste / plastic for an inside restaurant was too much. Very excessive on plastic packaging. Disappointing food, presentation, and wasteful on single use plastics. This place blew my mind... I was pretty much having a food-gasm as I ate. My husband and I each got both an Original and the Z (which was a lot of food, next time we'll get one each and a side to share). I loved the Original with its simplicity, highlighting that great garlicky tartness of the yogurt dressing (tzatziki). But our favorite was the Z! We're both fans of spicy food and this was just the right amount of spicy to where you could still taste the flavors of everything. To DIE for! Plus, great prices: if I recall correctly it was $4 per gyro, and just a little more for the fancier ones. Factor in a really sweet lady at the window taking our order and the sticker that gets you free baklava every time you come, and they've got my business for life. read more

There is nothing worse then eating bad beef. Actually eating it isn't the bad part it's what happens a few hours later and that's exactly what happened yesterday after eating at this place. We tried this place out a couple weeks ago and it was great so we decided to go back. However after yesterday's experience I will not be going back. My wife and I have both been sick for hours after eating here. I have already contacted the health department and they will be investigating. I've only had bad beef one other time in my life and I will never forget the way it feels and that's exactly the same feeling I have now. I've been eating gyros for the last 35 years, and this little shack serves up the best I've ever had! And what a value! Don't order double meat, not necessary! Do get the one with feta, though. The gyro shack is really, really awesome. I studied abroad in Greece and visited again for a month earlier this year and this is the closest to an authentic gyro I've had in the states so far. The only thing the gyros are missing in terms of authenticity are fried potatoes inside but I don't miss them at all because the meat is excellent in quality, the tzatziki is abundant and flavorful, and the pita is perfect, warm, and fluffy, just as it is in Greece :) I will say that after trying the hummus and the greek salad the sides are good but not worth the combo meal price (although the salad is also authentic- unlike most american greek salads- in consisting of cucumber, tomato, onion, bell pepper, and feta with a simple olive oil and oregano dressing. I loved that!). You're getting a great deal with just a regular gyro, it's not worth it to add a soda and a side in my opinion. Also, I personally wouldn't recommend going for the chicken gyros. They may be nominally healthy but in this case it looks and tastes like the equivalent of chicken bologna. In Greece the chicken gyros are shaved off of a large rotisserie like the lamb, beef, and/or pork variety, but in this case the quality just isn't quite the same. Go for the lamb/beef gyro and I guarantee you won't be disappointed! Absolutely delicious. Also, the service is impeccable- they're so sweet and nice! read more

Really good food. Fair priced. The staff is always nice. They always ask if I want to leave a tip on my card which is awkward. If I say no will the food be not as good or if I do will it be better? I'm sorry but I'm not going to leave a tip at a drive thru. So with that said, even without tipping, the food is great. read more

This is one of my favorite quick eat options. Love both the traditional gyro and the chicken version. The basic gyro is plenty big to fill you up at under $4 you cant beat it. Very authentic tasting and very fresh. Their service is quick and consistent. Customer service for me is a BIG deal and they need lots of help with this! Here are the issues I had with my first visit 1-I asked for grilled onions on my chicken blt, didn't get them and then when I told them What I had asked for, I (THE PAYING CUSTOMER) was told I was WRONG Uuumm nope! Customer Service 101 is that most times The PAYING CUSTOMER is CORRECT and you FIX it, no questions asked. I'm 40yr old and have known this since working customer service since I was 15!!! Don't argue with your PAYING CUSTOMER, just fix the damn issue. 2- FORGOT the baklava that I the customer PAYED for!!! 3- NO Napkins of any sort in the bag and this is just common sense and common courtesy for your PAYING CUSTOMERS. Not sure if they will ever have my business again on Overland. Don't argue with your customers, recheck the bag before you hand the bag of food out and for gyros, napkins would sure be nice read more

Absolutely amazing food. Every time I go here I absolutely love the food. The lamb is always so delicious. Its always super quick service even though there is usually quite the line. I always feel good after eating there food I never get that sick feeling you get from a lot of the quick food places. I would definitely recommend this gyro shack to anybody and everybody. read more
