My neighborhood HEB is great to have. Reasonably priced groceries, good selection of food & 4 self checkout lanes. What's not to like?

This is our first time at a heb and they had such a wide variety of food choices!! I purchased lemon pepper tilapia from the meat department and it was four fillets for $4! My fiancé loved it, it was so tasty and easy to cook! We also enjoyed the variety of nuts they had. Each nut comes out of a dispenser and they have dried fruit. We made a nice size bag of nuts that would easily be $9-$12 at meijers, it was a little over $4 at HEB! The lines were moderate so did not wait too long. Overall great experience ! read more

Hey H-E-B, if you're going to have something which requires a sales associate to get access, put a call button there. One employee had to ask multiple people and over half didn't have their keys on them. Also, I would have someone encouraging people to use the self checkout as I see many not going there and being in a long line. read more

So you know that scene in Pulp Fiction - Zed and Maynard take big boy into Russell's old room and leave Bruce tied up - but he escapes and starts to leave but then decides to go back but he needs a weapon? So there I am - at HEB - I'm heading for the registers with five or six bottles of wine, not sure exactly how many - I'm not a big counter, never been good at math.. and no basket, mind you, my fingers are about to break off - and of course I'm going through self checkout because, well, because it's quicker and pretty soon I'm gonna have me five or six bottles of wine to drink. Don't want postpone that particular activity any further into the future than is absolutely necessary, if you know what I mean. I know you do. So anyway, I'm heading for the registers and I'm wondering - how am I gonna bag this shit, right.. Okay, so it's not the same thing as rescuing Marsellus Wallace from a couple of redneck rapists and a gimp in black leather, but it is a task that needs to be accomplished and in order to accomplish it, I need a weapon.. I spot my hammer - the regular old white plastic bags. They'll work, I guess, but I'm gonna have to wrap each one individually, a couple of times probably to ensure enough padding. Not good enough. Big old paper bags? Way too big. Smaller bottle shaped paper bags - yeah, that'll do.. but then, then I find my samurai sword - there's a fucking heavy duty cardboard six-pack wine holder, I shit you not - not just one - a fucking stack of 'em, sitting right there waiting for me. How cool is that? Who fucking stocks heavy duty cardboard six-pack wine holder in the self checkout line? The fucking HEB at Slaughter and Escarpment, that's who. And when you fill it up, when you buy 6 bottles of wine, you get 10% off. Holy crap I'm glad to be back in Austin. I love this place. read more

Came here today at 3. Went to the women's restroom to change my 10 month olds diaper...no changing table at all. Had to change him on the floor after that wanted to wash our hands no soap or running sink water. This place is disgusting non of the female employees could possibly be washing their hands. read more

My favorite HEB. I love the samples & sometimes go back for seconds when they are making salmon w/ apricot & almonds. Their are a couple of great chefs here who really give some good insider cooking tips. I also really enjoy the fact that they have all the international food sections organized by country. About a month ago I went to this location and got to the check out and realized i had taken my wallet out of my purse and left it at home. I was about to cry I was so embarrassed and my son was rolling his eyes at me. The check-out dude just said "sweetie, don't worry, I'll refrigerate the perishables and you come on back with your wallet." Luckily I didn't get a speeding ticket racing down Slaughter and back. I would give it 5 stars but I always spend so much money here so 4 it is. read more

Hi, I've shopped this location for so many years. I would have 4 or 5 stars....all employees. Today, I am giving 1 star from the customer service counter experience. I was given a Store credit of $4 to my digital coupon account at the store customer service counter in early October. I was given a receipt " Customer Recovery $4" I've never seen it in my degital coupon account so as the representatives. (1-855-803-0611 customer service line). I called few times. I was told to go to the store,which was issued. I was also asked if I recived $4 in cash along with receipt. My answer was "NO". Today, I stopped by the customer counter and explained my situation with the receipt. He was really nice as always and called the Degital Coupon customer service number ??? I was told that I redeemed $4 on October 27 2019. I disagreed, but I left the store. When I came home and I called the Degital coupon customer service phone e number again. SOME HOW, No record of $4 credited or redeemed. Also No Records if somebody called in as today till I did. OMG... I had been trusted this employee... According to his name tag... He's worked for 19 years....Great!! read more

H-E-B is great. Life-long Texans don't know how good they've got it. Just the sheer number of store-brand items available still amazes me, and they're good quality products at affordable prices. That said, this particular location stinks. The store itself is fine (I'd like them to add some bulk foods, but I can always go to Central Market or Escarpment for that), but it's a real pain to get in and out of the parking lot. I sometimes end up just going to Super Target instead because it's such a hassle to turn out of the parking lot onto Manchaca and then east onto Slaughter. So, in summary: H-E-B = good, H-E-B at Slaughter and Manchaca = bad. read more

I just moved to this area and have gone to this HEB probably 4-5 times. Every trip is frustrating. I love HEB but this one needs help badly. I'm about to drive the 5 miles to go back to my old HEB at Brodie and William Cannon because it's that frustrating. The store is horribly space planned. I struggle so much trying to find what I am looking for. Things such as drinks are split into 2 different aisles and the aisles are 3-4 aisles apart. Cheese is also split in two different areas and I don't mean in the Deli and then the pre-packaged cheese are the two locations. There is yet another location at the complete opposite end of the store that has string cheese and such which is close to the dairy products. I also don't understand why ALL the pre-packaged cheese and dairy product are not close to each other. Also one evening I was in dire need of cat food. It was 10:20 PM, they're supposed to be open till 1am. I get there and find out they closed early for cleaning. Why couldn't this have been done after the normal closing time? Also there is a huge issue with stuff being out of stock and shelves being empty a lot. If a holiday was the next day or something I would understand but this seems to be a common issue at this location. Also the parking lot of a death trap but I guess that is more of an issue with the property and not the HEB itself. read more

Well this HEB isn't as bad as the one off William Cannon and 35 or the other one on 1st...but it isn't one of the best for sure. On Saturdays they have all the samples which is pretty cool but they don't have a lot of products that we were used to buying at other grocery stores.I find it annoying to shop for any length of time at this location. The isles are cramped, always crowded and if you ever need to pay a bill or buy tickets at the office, I swear there is always a huge line and only one person doing the transactions. Even the super ghetto HEB on 1st street has a quick moving line and always two people working it. I go to this HEB because it's the closest but not my favorite. The one on Brodie and William Cannon has this one beat in spades. The parking lot also is way better at Brodie. It's just the store where as this one has other stores using the same lot and it's quite congested during peak times which I haven't figured out other than after 9pm isn't a peak time. read more

**** PHARMACY REVIEW **** horrible / avoid... Sick, Fever and disabled... Prescription was "Electronically" sent to the pharmacy 20mins previously and "FOOLISHLY" assumed it would be ready for pickup, it wasn't in fact it was NOT even pulled from the system and placed into queue, in fact it was hand written and the casher (a cute Selena Gomez looking girl fresh out of High School, was given this huge responsibility) the cashier and this "Guido" Looking kid with a thick Gold chain (I'm Italian I can say Guido LOL) was joking with the cashier at my expense, noticing how upset I was, or I guess Livid...With 5 "Pharmacy Technicians" it took 40mins when they received the prescription and this was NOT a difficult prescription is was a simple inhaler and a box of Azithromycin, NOTHING to measure, just pull from the shelf put the label on and check out.... This was an overall horrible experience and from an environment that you would think show some empathy, for not only the severely sick, but the disabled. Shame I will not be returning back. That is for sure. HEB Corp really needs to investigate their Pharmacy procedure and operations at this Cherry Creek / Slaughter store #227 read more

I wish I had asked for his name!! I felt like an elderly woman when I bought some groceries last week. I bought more than I intended to and was still trying to get them to the car without a cart and my hands were overloaded. My arm has had a "tennis elbow" and doesn't have much strength so I got to an island in the parking lot and put down all my bags to regroup, find my keys, locate my car, and rest my arm again. An HEB young man in the red shirt appeared out of nowhere and said, "Do you need help getting to your car?" It was like the 1960s again when you always had a bag boy take your bags to the car! He picked up everything and loaded them in the car for me and saved my arm. I appreciated the service so much. I shop here all the time, so I get frustrated at things like we all do, but it is the humanness of this store that I really appreciate. Thank you HEB employees. read more

Went to pick up a prescription for my 8 year old who has strep this morning. While checking out in lane 12 my 8 year old and 4 year old went to use their buddy bucks. My 4 year old got an instant winner and went to stand in line at customer service which was 6 ppl deep. I finished bagging and paying for my $100 worth of groceries when the cashier noticed the line my kids were standing in hadn't moved. She said to me "Our store manager Joe is standing right by the door. He won't mind grabbing a prize for him. He can just run in really quick so you don't have to wait in that line." I saw Joe texting on his phone near the Buddy Bucks machine. I pulled the boys off the customer service line and asked Joe B. if he could grab a prize for my son. He politely told me to go stand in line. Then went back to his phone. I took my two kids and my basket of groceries and left. Customer service at its worse. read more

This place is no Circle C but it has a nice selection for the size of the store. They have ample Handicap Parking and there was a Joanns fabric next door but they moved I guess. This used to be "my" HEB when I lived closer. Its not the great of the stores in the chain. They have all the usuals, but the layout has always been a little weird, and they don't carry a couple of the things I like, but I guess thats not much of a problem, considering its the first time I've been to this store in a year or more. read more

Love this store and the people that work there! Good to see that HEB still believes in the words: Customer Service! Their Bakery Staff Rock the World Too! Extremely helpful and go over and beyond their required job. I called them to ask about a pie that only appears during the holidays. It's my hubby's fav pie too. The nice lady put me on hold and even went to check on the tables and found the only one. She put my name on it and put aside for me. How awesome is that in this day and age? Good job HEB! HEB is generally a nice store clean and well organized my only gripe is when they pack your shopping bags at checkout they always overload at least one of them. Its really not necessary to load one bag up to 75-80 lbs and not use the other 3 bags i brought with me. After all i have to be able to lift and carry these bags. read more

I absolutely loved many HEB grocery stores....until moving down south. I have lots of respect for them and understand part of the problem. There are too many people in this part of town which is making it more difficult to keep products stocked. It is reallly hard to get in and out of the parking lot, much less find a parking spot. In comparison to other HEB stores I have shopped at, this location doesn't carry many vegan options which causes me to have to go to multiple stores to get groceries. The staff at this location have been nice and helpful. It's my local HEB now and I just want to love them like the locations I have used. read more

The employees at thé Pharmacy worked really hard to get my meds filled I just took them and god awful long time

This HEB has charged $153.88 to my checking account with my debit card that I did not charge. On Sept. 6 I bought groceries for around $76.94 and had to deal with the register locking up. I slid my card through 4 or 5 times before the register would work. On Sept. 8 my checking account showed the charge for the $153.88 which is 2 times my original order of $76.94. Their accounting does not show the $153.88 so they will not refund my money. My bank statement shows it was paid to the HEB at this location. The management suggested I shopped twice that day. The problem is the date and time stamp are exactly the same, down to the minute on both transactions. The $153.88 shows as an ATM withdrawal which is not possible because of the odd amount. If you shop this HEB take cash for this store or go to another HEB. read more

TEXAS has one thing going for it and that is the HEB chains- perhaps it is because they base their business practices on (healthy) Christian standards and practices and they give a lot to the community, especially the arts. They also treat their employees pretty well and have good customer service. If Texas had more businesses like HEB it would certainly be a better place. I also love their Central Markets but they are a little more pricey d/t locations. I enjoyed shopping at HEB chains and would do so in the future. When I think of something good in Texas I think of my positive experiences of shopping at HEB. My suggestion for HEB is not to throw out your food because there are many homeless people and shelters who could use it. Due to liability issues in the US businesses are afraid to give away food and this is one big negative and business waste in the American economy especially in our economic crisis where many people need help. Also bike areas for locking tend to be too far away from public traffic which makes bicycles higher risk to theft and this a serious problem in Austin, especially around downtown where heroine/drug addicts constantly steal tires and bikes for their next hit. No place is perfect but HEB certainly sets a good model for business in Texas and more businesses need to take this on that is for certain. read more

I have been going to this HEB for the last 15 years or so. Customer service.....depends... sometimes, they are great, one guy walked the entire store 3 times with me when I lost my keys....the front desk didn't have them....as I was walking out the pharmacy door, the girl at that register told me to have a nice day....I said once I find my keys I will....she said..."These keys?"....she never thought to take them to the front desk? The baggers, when there are any.....are terrible. Squished bread, broken eggs. I would rather bag my own. Parking is horrible and getting in and out can be very dangerous! They have a great Fish department. They usually have what I need and if you can't find something, just ask they will find it and call you when it arrives. Pharmacy is good, not great, just good. It's clean and they now have more healthy foods. The rotisserie chicken is awesome. It's convenient for me, so I do most of my shopping here and will continue to do so, maybe they will improve in the next 15 years. read more

I absolutely love this H-E-B location. The staff is probably the most friendliest I have experienced here in South Austin stores. The managers know me by name. I am always greeted when I walk through the door. It will be less crowded when they build the slaughter and 35 location. This is my go to the store. read more

So after 2 calls to HEB corporate office Monday and today and still no call back from anyone in Corporate I'm going to have to escalate this issue of their employee giving my IPhone 6 away to some stranger, to the media for some help. You would think someone from their leadership would at least call me and discuss the issue but not one single call has been made to me. I'm out $800 bucks with outstanding balance on my phone, non- refundable deductible, otter box and new shitty phone that I bought so I could have a phone until my replacement phone arrives. Extremely disappointed in how they have handled this. I can't imagine anyone in leadership who receives a customer complaint would just ignore it and think that's ok. I put a police report but they removed the sim and set back to factory settings per AT&T So other then the serial number not much I can do To track it. Actually I called 3 time's, Monday morning and twice today and told Suzanne if I didn't hear back from anyone I was going to the news. Still nothing.. Just amazing. I even told them I've put negative reviews on Yelp at that store and messages on FB and still "0" calls. I can only be so nice but I have to pay my phone still and now a new deductible is being added to my next phone bill. read more
