After living in the area nearly 20 yrs, I finally tried H. Salt Fish & Chips. The vibe is definitely dated, but the customer service is good, and the fish is piping hot and fried on demand. I ordered the #6, regular combination with 3 fish, 2 shrimps and chips. Took about 10 minutes, I could hear them frying everything fresh in the back. The food is good, with big pieces of fish and shrimp. I was actually given about 5 pieces of fish and it was so much food I couldn't finish it all. The batter gets soggy after awhile and I wasn't sure the fish pieces I couldn't eat would survive the next day. Maybe air fry'd? All in all the meal was good, I'm glad I tried it. I enjoyed the shrimp more than the fish. They give a great selection of sauces. If you dine in they bring you a tray full of sauce bottles. Would I come back? Maybe for the shrimp, but not likely, and that's more on personal preference of how often I crave fish & chips. Bonus: ample parking, nice customer service, fast hot food. Well... they're still hanging in there after all these years. The thing about H.Salt that has always been more American than British is the batter. It's quite plain by comparison. But that's more suiting to the US palate than the robust batters found on the other side. I dined in February 2024. This place is in a strip mall and doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't pass it over. The prices are very reasonable, and everything is made fresh. The shrimp are very large size and the zucchini is delicious. Fried zucchini is one of my favorite things. I'm not exactly sure what a fish. This is, it didn't seem like cod, and it wasn't quite as flavorful as cod, but it was good. The batter used is very good as well. When I went into order, I didn't exactly know what to get so I originally picked a plate of fish, and then a side of zucchini. It was a little difficult to understand the woman, but essentially she told me that was too much food, and she made my own combination based off of the things that I wanted. it was perfect and save me like seven dollars by not ordering them all separate.
