We tried HaiCha for the first time yesterday and boy, the tea was spot-on amazing with first-class service from Tommy, the owner). My wife ordered the Okinawa milk tea w/ boba (25% sweet), Hokkaido milk tea (50%), Hot Coffee w/ boba, and Haicha Fish balls (i.e. Fuzhou fish ball with meat inside). The sweetness recommendation for the Okinawa MT was perfect for my wife. I don't usually add boba to my drink but Tommy convinced me that Coffee + boba tastes amazing. He wasn't kidding - it was WOW! Also, the boba was made perfectly and wasn't on super sweet side like some other places. In chatting with Tommy, he uses high-quality, fresh ingredients as well as food all made-to-order. Tasting the items we ordered certainly validated that. If you ever been to Taiwan tea places, HaiCha feels exactly like that - relaxing ambiance (great for focus work or studying), delicious drink options, and super-friendly and attentive service from Tommy. I love coming here the owner is always so welcoming, very friendly and enthusiastic. They have a lot of drink options and all drinks are made to order with a lot of ways to customize sweetness, ice level, toppings, etc. They have snacks as well. Cozy space (with wifi) there are a few seats with tables, and a lot of people also get drinks to go, so it's usually not too crowded if you do want to stay and dine in. I've tried their matcha and house milk teas with boba, both were great. The boba was fresh and had good texture. Will definitely be back to try more of their menu :) read more

First off. The tea is very fresh and perfectly brewed. No powered mixed drinks here. The drinks are perfectly balanced and I would suggest, if you don't know what to order, get the Jasmin Green Milk Tea with Crystal Boba. It had the right amount of sweetness for me at 25% with light ice. The price is also amazing. When you go other places around Pasadena where they charge $8-$10 before tip, I much preferred see $6 at the beginning of my check. I actually felt like tipping because it was so affordable. But really, the Uncle who runs the shop is the friendliest human you'll ever meet. He brought me back to the old neighborhoods of Taiwan and Singapore where the shopkeepers knew your name and welcomed you like family. He is true love and light, and I wish people like him knew how priceless they are in a world that is so divided and cynical. Owner is this very nice Taiwanese uncle who greets every customer and gave me a free phone charger stand as a gift for being a new customer and coming here first time! For always a fan of Hojicha, I ordered their Roasted Oolong Milk Tea and he let me choose between Medium roasted and Dark roasted. I went with the Dark Roasted and loved the earthy flavor. It's actually very similar to Hojicha but the dark roasted gave it a richer earthy taste. Ended up buying a bag of their HaiCha tea leaves, Roasted Oolong tea leaves, and Camilla oil. For those health-nut out there, you know how good (though expensive) Camila oil is for your health and anti-aging in general, and they have these traditionally sourced and produced Camilla oil shipped from Taiwan. i saw the 5 star yelp and wanted to try the tea myself and it was an exceptional experience. actually, one of the most exceptional tea experiences ever! i grew up in LA/OC/IE and i have visited Taiwan, and i can honestly say that the tea experience here is by far the best! the tea is very reminiscent of the best tea places ive had in Taiwan and i was shocked! definitely the best of the best! i got the haicha tea 50% sweet and it was the perfect drink. it was perfectly sweetened, and the taste does not leave that overly sweet taste in your mouth (like many tea drinks/places do...). it was also very high quality tea which is very difficult to come by. i was not able to try their fresh boba since i came near closing, but the coffee jelly topping was also very good! the tea is reasonably price too. and of course, i have to say a huge thank you to the charismatic owner of this tea shop. he is very kind and friendly, and you should come to this tea place just to meet him at least. he welcomes and treats you like a long time friend. he even walked me to my car! i also love the interior design... it feels like im visiting my friends' house and has that homey vibe to it. i was in the tea shop immediately texting all my partners, friends, and family to come here now maraming salamat, mr tang! i would drive an hour for you and your tea again! read more

Just slightly off the beaten path off of Colorado lies a cozy little beverage shop with a ton of character, good vibes, and delicious, fresh-made brown sugar boba. Inside seating is so cushy and inviting. It felt like we were in someone's home having tea. Perfect vibe. Tried the brown sugar milk tea with crystal boba; never had crystal boba before, but the texture is somewhere between regular boba and jelly. It's a little sweet, kinda chewy, and yummy - but I prefer the classic. Also tried the taro smoothie which was refreshing. Once the boba was ready (YAY!), we got a trio of drinks: the roasted oolong milk tea, Hokkaido milk tea, and Okinawa milk tea. If I had to pick one, I'd say the Hokkaido was hands down my favorite. It had a rich, sweet, nutty flavor and the boba was perfect. Love that you can customize sweetness and ice, and when it says 50%, it actually feels like 50% less. Not too sweet but just right. Sizes are generous and pricing is on par with other shops. We also sampled some of their roasted sesame treats and decided to buy a bag to munch on because they were so good! Happened upon this little gem of a boba spot on a Wednesday afternoon shortly after running our morning errands in the area. Living in the 626, my partner and I have admittedly grown tired of the nearby shops - Half&Half, The TEA, and Feng Cha to name a few - due to their inconsistency with the boba and flavor of the tea - so much so that we've been forced to find our next venture ( so far, that being frozen yogurt ). I'm happy to report that the boba here is very soft and fresh, which paired superbly with my jasmine green milk tea which had the perfect balance of milk and tea - not heavy handedly poured like so many other shops. My boba fiend of a partner, who got the lychee green tea, was delightfully impressed with the flavor of her tea. The ambiance is very calm, with gentle music playing in the background with bench seating lines the walls opposite the glossy white order counter, perfect for study sessions or quiet catch ups with small groups of friends. Tommy, who introduced himself as the owner, was very welcoming and made sure to clarify with us aloud what our drink orders were, including our desired sweetness level. Parked on Harkness and planned to walk around the corner to grab a banh mi. On the way there, we passed by HaiCha. A smiling, super friendly gentleman inside waved at us to enter. I told him we would stop by on the way back. And so we did. Tommy, the owner, greeted us warmly and enthusiastically when we entered the store. I asked for recommendations and he stated that the roasted high mountain oolong tea was delicious. He also recommended a snack of fish balls and rice to accompany the tea. Even though I was full from banh mi, I could not resist Tommy's enthusiasm and went ahead with the order. The tea was refreshing and hearty and paired so well with the fish balls and rice. Everything was simply delicious! We engaged with Tommy in lively conversation in which we talked about our families and our backgrounds. We felt like we were visiting a good friend at home. Tommy was so welcoming and open. Our visit turned into an unexpected delight. HaiCha's location is easy to pass by, but I strongly recommend that you stop by and check it out.
