I always go to tang in Levittown but wanted to try out a different place. Food was just basic taste, halal beef fried rice was bit dry and Mongolian beef didn't have enough beef. I rarely leave 1 star. But this time it was well-deserved. We decided to go here on Christmas Day since we celebrate Xmas Eve and were hungry. I went online to their website and placed an order. They had all my contact info so imagine my surprise when we went to pick it up and were told they were out of sweet & sour chicken. Okay, no biggie, switch it to sesame chicken. After another 15 minute wait the owner asked what I was waiting for (after I initially told him to switch) and he comes back and says they're out of wonton soup. How? Why? So I said okay forego the soup. While I waited for my now 1.5 hour order to be ready I watched two men order duck and be told they never carry duck. One asked why it was on the menu. The owner shrugged and said he didn't know. Another person ordered General Tso's chicken and was told it would take an hour to make. After watching more and more of this debacle unfold I decided yep, nope, not paying and we're leaving. I told him I didn't want my order (which still wasn't ready, mind you) and left. Food is horrible!! We basically paid for an order we could not eat. For starters, they don't know the difference between an egg roll and spring roll (got an egg roll when we ordered a spring roll). The chicken and broccoli is the weirdest we've ever tasted! The taste is no where close to any chicken and broccoli we've ever had. It was sweet like candy! We were in search of a good Chinese restaurant on our way home from queens to Long Island, we were lucky enough to find Chengdu! We ordered chicken and broccoli with white rice and chicken lo mein, originally we were going to take it home but once we arrived decided we would eat at the restaurant. This is your typical takeout chines restaurant with a few tables at the front and the kitchen in the back, everything looked very clean and the people behind the counter were very welcoming. My husband saw there was no chicken and we went back inside , they take it back and throw whatever chicken they had on there without any apologies. Very rude service. so disappointed!! ordered vegetable lomein. received a large and nicely flavored portion of noodles with 5 small pieces of broccoli, some onions and a few cabbage Stems. this is NOT vegetable lomein!!! there should have been some carrots, mushrooms and maybe celantro. it was the same price as the chicken lo mein. I tried this place knowing the fact that there aren't many halal Chinese options to choose from here. I appreciate that it's Szechuan and not just American Chinese food. I tried the chili oil wontons that I've never been able to have because it's always filled with pork and I loved them. We also order combinations for lunch and that's where my disappointment comes in. The General Tso's and Chicken and Broccoli portions were disappointing. The combos were majority rice and little of the entrees. The food was basic. Not the best Chinese foos but I would eat it again. I ordered the bigger sized General Tso's for a party and that had a good amount of meat. Everyone enjoyed it! Just a heads up that communication with staff was not the best because of a potential language barrier so be patient. They fill the container with mostly rice and then put a little bit of meat with it. My szechuan beef had mostly rice and vegetables with about 8 small pieces of beef!! The price is good, the portions are decent for the price. Can be a great take out spot and business can boom if they fix one thing and one thing only. And that is their weak weak weakkkk flavor. The food taste bland or at times as if it wasn't marinated long enough, or maybe their water down their spices/marination. I'm not sure but it just taste as if the meat didn't absorb the flavor in as it should and you are eating flavor less meat.
