I never knew how much I was going to love Halal House until I tried it yesterday. Wow ! It was perfect. Got the bowl with the white sauce and it was the best thing ever. My husband also loved his wrap so much that he said he wanted another one today. Lol which means he really liked it. What I love about Halal House is that it is an Afghan Muslim man's way of paying homage to classic American food in accordance with Islamic principles of how meat should be served. Halal food is basically Muslim kosher food. This means that I know the animal was slaughtered in the most humane way possible. And although I'm not vegetarian/vegan yet, this is an aspect that is important to me because at the end of the day, I do support animal welfare. Now onto the food-it's really good! I just had the crispy, and omg...that chicken definitely lived up to its name! It was really crispy, and overall just had a great crunch to it. They put in just the perfect amount of coleslaw too. I have had their fries too before (both regular and curly), and those are great as well! Plus their plates are awesome too. I usually go for the chicken and falafels and ask them to pour a liberal amount of sauces onto the protein and rice. Really tasty stuff! My only suggestion is that I would really love the owner to introduce customers to Afghan food, because Afghan cuisine is one of the best! Like serve up some bolani, mantoo, chapli kebab (hell, maybe do a chapli kebab burger), etc. I mean, yea, gyros are cool and all, I guess, but Afghan food is cooler! And I'm of Indian descent so I know good food and taste, and sharing Afghan food with the CSUN community and the valley in general is definitely the way to go! They have a variety of different items on their menu and have a secret menu as well. I decided to try the chicken sandwich with a side of curly fries. I got my order to go because they have added their own little wet of tables outside to practice social distancing. What a disappointment tonight's visit was. I don't come often to the valley anymore but when I do come I always try to visit halal house because they are GREAT. I came in tonight 6/14 at 9:40 pm 20 min before they closed and I was just grabbing the build your own plate since they have the ingredients ready. First of all the dude working there seemed SOOOOO annoyed I even walked in. Which I understand probably a long shift so I let him know I wanted to get the plate and what PISSED me off was I didn't even ask for white sauce instead I asked for hummus and he proceeds to put the white sauce and in my mind I'm like whatever I'm not gonna do the hassle and tell him to make me a new one so I ask him again may I get the garlic hummus and no response what so ever usually when I come here if the employees can't hear me they ask me what I said or to repeat it.
