Half & Half isn't my favorite drink spot, but they do those milk drinks well. They're the right amount of creaminess, even though I always have to ask for less sweetness. I've tried other drinks on the menu which also tend to be cloyingly sweet. Like any other Half & Half location, the line here can get ridiculous during peak hours. I usually make my stops here during the daytime if I'm in the area running errands. They still get a decent amount of customers during the weekday, especially around lunchtime. It seems packed with teenagers at night. In my experience, service is slow here even when it's not as crowded. I don't know if it's because they're filling call-in orders or what, which by the way, I think they do for a minimum of $10. I was so excited to try this place because I've heard great things about it. I ordered an oolong milk tea and brown sugar milk tea, both with boba and 50% ice. My oolong milk tea tasted like water and the boba was a little hard.. I think I was just unlucky because the brown sugar one tasted okay. The brown sugar milk tea wasn't anything special though. Most boba places in Chicago (where I'm from) allow the customers to adjust their sweetness level, so it was a bit disappointing not being able to adjust it. I am also a big fan of grass jelly. I am used to grass jelly being firm and solid so I am able to chew them like boba. The grass jelly here was very soft and melted in my mouth, which I am not used to. I love that moment when your drink is ready as soon as you grab it and stab the boba straw in and take your first sip is always the best. The boba is so soft and chewy and sweet. The pudding compliments the drink with its soft chew as well. The iced milk is not too sweet nor not too bland. It's perfect. That's why I kept coming back. It was until a couple days ago we went back during evening time around 5-6PM where it took them 20-30 minutes to make two iced milk drink -_- I understood there was 4 orders ahead of us but I noticed they only ordered a couple drinks as well. There's this big wall that you aren't able to see through where the workers are at and are making the drinks. But I was sitting in the corner of where the benches are at and can see the workers back there. I noticed there were three baristas back there and was wondering just they were taking so long and was getting impatient. This was just a couple days ago and we also went here a few days ago around the same time and same amount of customers as well and it was the same as well but it took 30 minutes. Never have I spent that much of a time waiting for a $5 boba drink in a boba place which got me angry because it was such a waste of time. This location is pretty hard to find...it's in a small plaza that barely has any parking (by the store front at least..more on the other side!). There will be a Cold Stone next door to it soon! We went in, and could barely make it past the door since there was a huge line already! There are some paper menus by the door, so grab one while you wait in line to speed up the ordering process! The location is super small, but they are cranking out the boba drinks as fast as they can! There are also food items here...so take a look at those if you are interested! I ordered: -1 ice milked drink with red bean, honey boba (regular size) -1 ice milked drink with taro, honey boba (regular size) Pros: -Good service! Busy busy, but the cashier still managed to remain calm and get our orders correctly! -Good portion sizes! When I want boba, where do I go? Half and Half! My favorite drink is their iced milk with honey boba & egg pudding ($3.85 + tax). If I want it extra sweet, I'll have it with caramel too -- but usually without the caramel is sufficient. This is most definitely my to-go spot for iced milk boba. Some caveats for those Half and Half newbies out there -- this place is cash only, so bring your $1, $5, $10, and/or $20 bills. Parking can be difficult when it's really hot and on weekends (at all times of the day). This place is frequented by high schoolers and college students, so if you're on the older side, you might feel it. But who cares? Everyone of all ages loves boba! Half and Half Express uses stamp cards different from the regular Half and Half (sit down) chain. You can combine stamp cards to get your free drink -- but remember, stamp cards are only valid for ONE YEAR from your first stamp. So make sure to redeem your cards before they expire! There is a great variety of drinks to choose from that the menu is too long to be listed on the wall. Instead you have to awkwardly reach over between the two people at the cashier for a menu. During my first visit, I chose Almond Milk Tea. It lacked any almond flavor and just tasted like plain milk tea in an awkward size cup. It's like the width of CD which won't fit into a car cup holder. I ordered Green Milk Tea with honey boba and pudding during my recent trip. I didn't do my Yelp research the first time around so my drink tasted much better with sweet and chewy honey boba and creaminess of the pudding. I had the best customer experience, the staff was very courteous and even helped me take the drinks to the car. Keep in mind I had heels on and it was a bit hard to carry two full cupholders. Half n Half is known for their milk teas. I know a lot of people driving all the way from OC up to Rowland Heights just to get their milk teas. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about so I came here with my girlfriend. Got here around 7PM and the line was pretty long; curved almost outside the entrance door. However, they offer the zip line where you could order ahead of time and skip the long line, which we did. My girlfriend wanted to try their almond milk tea with boba and egg pudding so we got one to share. It didn't take that long to make and once we got it, I could feel the warmness of the egg pudding. The almond flavor was pretty strong, the egg pudding was warm and big so it was kind of hard to suck it up the straw. Overall, I think it was overly hyped. Parking could be difficult at times due to the small plaza. Their drinks comes in a huge cup so it won't fit in any cup holders. Their drinks comes out super sweet sometimes so make sure to let them know to make it less sweet if need be. read more

I seriously don't get it. We made 2 attempts to get a drink here. On the first attempt we were standing in line for 10 minutes before somebody told us that they were closed and no longer serving. Our second attempt was more successful but I was very disappointed with the outcome. After standing in line with a bunch of very young people for 25 minutes, I expected...something...something...good? It was a cold day and I ordered a HOT ginger fresh milk tea with pudding for $2.85+$0.50 for the pudding. What came out was a drink that was WARM on top and COLD on the bottom. COLD! What an utter fail. My husband ordered the Strawberry+ pudding +honey boba ice milk drink for $3.85 that tasted like Nestle Strawberry Milk. The boba was good; a little sweet & chewy, but was it amazing? I'm not so sure. The thought that came into my head was that I might be into this if I was a teen with a super-fast metabolism and time to spare to stand in line. But as an adult I felt jipped; jipped of my time and jipped of my expectations. PS This place accepts only cash. PPS My advice is if you're going to give this place a shot, call ahead and order. I grew to like half & half because I found the right drinks to get here now! At first I did not understand what all the hype was about. The first drink I ordered there was their milk black tea with boba. I waited in line for over half an hour and after the first sip, all I could think of was the time I wasted to get this overly sweetened milk tea. Well that was my first experience. And I am glad I decided to give it another try. The second time I decided to order their milk green tea with boba and it was so delicious! The flavor of the jasmine green tea is just right and it isn't too sweet either. That is pretty much what I order now. I tried their no. 1, but it was just alright for me because I don't really like caramel. I've also tried other drinks, but I still haven't found one that's better than my favorite: milk green tea with boba!!! The line was super long and I had no idea what to order so I just got the regular milk tea with boba. It was bad. Way too heavy of a tea taste and not enough milk. I thought the place was called half and half because they put tons of that in their drinks? Obviously not. Was forced to come here again with some friends to get their milk this time. I guess this is what everyone raves about. Got the pudding and boba one for $4.50. Pretty expensive considering it was their regular cup, but with rumors that their regular cup is larger than their large cup, I guess it's not too bad. Oh and it doesn't fit in cup holders! What kind of genius designed that. I couldn't even finish it actually. I think it's a meal all on its own. My advice is to split the regular between 2 maybe 3 people. That's a lot of saliva and backwash, but it saves you calories and bloating. Overall, I wouldn't come here unless I were forced. If I wanted to drink milk I'd just go to Vons and buy a carton. Oh Half and Half. You're delicious and novel but that wait is definitely not worth it. I've been sitting here for about 15 minutes now and I swear it's like you're either 1. Milking cows and/or 2. Cultivating, growing, plucking and brewing the teas for each drink. For real though, why is my order taking so long to make? It's literally just milk blended with ice that has boba and pudding on the bottom. My second order was just boba milk tea. There is honestly nothing special about my order nor was there anything special about the 10 other orders ahead of me. Maybe if you went to Mt. Olympus and back with ambrosia I'd kowtow at your feet but that's not the case. Also, wi-fi much? Come on, it's the year 2015, get on it. Drove from fullerton to Rowland just for half&half. The past couple times I got amazing green milk tea honey boba. I am SO unhappy that this time it turned out SO BAD. To justify driving like an extra 20 miles roundtrip out of my way, I tend to buy 2 milk teas. Since I loved the previous 8 cups of green milk tea with honey boba, naturally I ordered 2 cups today. Got here around 1pm (1 hour after opening). No line. Place was empty. Order was filled almost as soon as I put my wallet away after paying. What do they keep standard milk tea's like pre-prepped in a fridge? Oh wait, thats usually how milk tea is stored...in a giant premixed container. shucks, was hoping it was like 85 degrees where they mix it all in front of you. Cheesenrice! The first one wasn't even sweet. the boba had a slightly sweet exterior (due to the honey), but the milk tea was very bitter. Either they oversteeped it, got the ratio off, or it was jus screwed up. Plus the boba tasted unfresh. The exterior was slimy/chewy (good), but once you bit down, it broke apart into tiny little chunks like boba gets if you leave your milk tea boba in the fridge for a whole day. The second one was a little sweeter than the first but was still very bitter and lacking in sweetness. Boba was slightly more chewy but the center was, again, crumbly like it was old. Since I wen't at like high noon, about an hour after they opened, I could guess that none of their things were fresh or the morning crew was lazy and did a junk job. Verdict: Don't come here unless its super busy, at least then its more likely they're preparing your stuff while you wait. read more

This location sucks!! I love half and half, but the service is here is slow. I came here after lunch at one. There was no one waiting in line, but everyone was sitting around, so I quickly ordered...and I was sucked like everyone else. We all sat there not knowing what is happening. I waited 40 minutes for one drink! The drink was not well made either. It seems like everyone here was a trainee or something. The only thing that was good about this was the honey boba was warm.
