Me and my wife was in town for Thanksgiving and my in-laws suggested that we go into town and check out one of their favorite restaurants Half Shells Oyster House. We arrived and noticed the restaurant was housed in a older 2 story building with a lot of character to it. We were greeted and seated upstairs next to window a view of Biloxi. We were promptly greeted by our server (whose name I forgot but had long locks) & given menus and that's when the goodness began. I ordered the seafood pot pie and potatoes while my wife the red snapper and my in-laws ordered the shrimp po'boy and shrimp Orleans pasta. The seafood pot pie was unique with the crust is actually made like a rectangular bread placed on top of the bowl. The pot pie was extremely tasty and cooked perfectly with out the shrimp beings over cooked and potatoes were roasted great and seasoned just right to the point I didn't even need ketchup for them. My wife really enjoyed her red snapper and since her parents always come here of course their meals were their favorite. This is a great place for seafood whenever you're in town visiting the Gulf Coast in Mississippi. read more

First dinner in Biloxi during a work trip. We were kindly treated by some business associates and they chose Half Shell Oyster House for our meal. I don't eat raw oysters, but my husband had a dozen half shell oysters and he really liked them - fresh and clean. That's a good sign! I chose the shrimp and grits with jalapeño hush puppies. It was a pretty cool twist on grits since it was a grit cake instead of loose. I didn't like the waxy Parmesan cheese on top, but the bacon cream sauce was very good. Overall, a tasty dish. The Hush Puppies were yummy! My husband had Redfish Orleans with asparagus and Cajun boiled new potatoes. He liked the asparagus but said the potatoes were boring. Fish was over cooked. So he didn't have as much luck with his meal like I did with mine. The restaurant wasn't busy but service was incredibly slow. One word "delicious!" We so enjoyed our meal! Our waitress was wonderful. In fact it was so nice, we did it twice! Had a little belt done on Monday and went back Tuesday. The oysters were amazing. Quality is slipping. This was one of my favorite restaurants in town, but not anymore. The past few times the fish was tough. When I asked for steamed broccolli to be prepared without being soaked in butter, I'm pretty sure they just put some plain broccolli in the microwave for a few minutes - not good at all. Had the chance to visit this restaurant while in town and just could t wait to try some of the brunch items. There are only four items for brunch and the rest is a standard menu. I went with the shrimp and crab dip with fried wontons and the shrimp and grits for my entree. The food was delicious and my firmed said the drinks were premium liquor. This was our fancy and last night dinner in Biloxi and for the most part it was GREAT! The food was first rate and worth every penny! The service was the only little bit of downfall. It wasn't terrible but not what you would expect from a higher end restaurant in a Casino. Actually everyone but our server was great. With that said.. Let's talk about the food and drinks!! We ordered the House Martini and Margarita and both were sooo smooth.... Dangerously smooth. We than ordered the a half pound of the REDS. We actually received the full pound but didn't say anything because our server wasn't around to say something but also the REDS were so butterly and tender. The clarified butter that was served with it wasn't heavy and the boiled spices that they used just accent the natural sweetness of these little royals of the Gulf! I had the seafood pasta with shrimp, crawfish and lump crab. It was pure perfection... Creamy but light and the comfort of good pasta! My husband's steak was cooked perfectly and the potatoes served were also the perfect partner. We would have enjoyed a dessert but our server never gave us a chance. I have never had a bad meal at this place but went on my bday last week and was disappointed in my choices. Oyster sampler was what I guess you would call under broiled and/ or soggy with more than usual shell pieces. My crab cakes had actual fish bones in it (WTH). Ummm holy crap this place was delicious. The sweet potato brûlée was to die for. Like I want to die if I can't have more. I also got the seafood pasta which was delicious and voodoo wings. The sauce on the wings is more barbecue than hot and was very good. My husband & I encountered several unanticipated traffic obstacles on our way to see Chicago at the Beau Rivage. When we went to the Half Shell Oyster House at the Hard Rock Casino, the manager herself took our order due to all the other servers being tied up when she found out that we were in a time crunch to make it to the concert. She also put a rush order in and delivered the food herself to our table. She had a genuine desire to ease our minds and be of service. The server name circled was Maizy S. I don't know if that was actually the manager's name, but what I do know is that her service and the excellent food are reasons that we will return to the Half Shell Oyster House at the Hard Rock Casino. Wonderful restaurant if you love oysters like we do. The first time this trip we had the oyster sampler and a smoked tuna dip. When we visited yesterday we had an amazing crab salad and the ruby red shrimp served with drawn butter. The red shrimp are sweet and have a taste much like lobster. Four of us visited the Half Shell Oyster House (HSOH) on 2/6/17. This HSOH location is across the street from the Beau Rivage casino and caters to both visitors and locals. HSOH is a mid-high-end seafood restaurant with a diverse menu and has 9 locations scattered across southern Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Florida. We ordered Royal Reds and Voodoo Shrimp for appetizers. The Royal Reds is a 1/2 lb of large Cajun boiled shrimp and these large shrimp were very good; I could eat several pounds of the Royal Reds. The Voodoo Shrimp are fried and tossed in a sweet and spicy voodoo sauce, similar to the Bonefish Grill appetizer, but not as good as Bonefish Grill. I ordered a bowl of Gumbo and the gumbo was good, but lacked an adequate amount of shrimp, crabmeat and crawfish. The gumbo was more roux than seafood and the dark roux was slightly burnt. For the main course I ordered the Redfish Orleans, which is blackened redfish topped with shrimp and crabmeat. The dish was visually appealing and included a large piece of redfish. The height (thickness) of the redfish varied from being very thin to a section that was very thick. This variation made it difficult to cook and caused the thin areas to be over-cooked and tough. Overall, the Redfish Orleans was very good, but fish should be trimmed more before cooking. The service was fantastic and the ambiance of restaurant was wonderful. Our server gave us the perfect amount of attention and even gave Mardi Gras beads to our wives. read more

Awesome seafood spot in Biloxi. Best oysters in Mississippi. We visit this spot every time my family visits Ocean Springs. My wife and I love oysters, and these oysters are as good as any I've had in Appalachicola. I've always had top notch service at all Half Shell locations (and I've been to all of them). This location is convenient (downtown Biloxi a block from the coastal casinos), and has a classic yet hip atmosphere. I highly recommend you stop by for the raw oysters. read more
