    I'm in heaven

Great Happy Hour. Delicious, fresh fish and great service. The patio bar and patio are always jumping so if you like it a little more quiet reserve a table in the dining room. The crispy rice, yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño, albacore sashimi with crispy onions, and the Shiso Lemon Roll are our go to's. The Shiso Lemon roll is so refreshing. We were there last night at a community fundraiser for the Venice Heritage Museum and we grubbed down! The owner, Hama Mama Esther, is always gracious and very supportive within the Venice community. Thank you Esther for all you do for the Venice community. Xoxo

We were looking for a sushi restaurant where we could also watch the World Cup game in the Venice Beach area and this place came up as an option. We were lucky enough to be able to snag a table without a reservation. Great bar area with a large tv. Decent sushi.

Hama is my always go to. I always feel welcome. I love the vibe, It feels like family. The food is delicious this is my 10th year of loyalty. I will always keep coming back for more. Ps my faves are salmon sashimi, eggplant app, shishito peppers EDAMAME but the baked cod I dream about.

So things have really evolved here over the last 8 years since my first review. There have been major makeovers and changes, including a hidden patio area outside that can be rented for private functions. The walls are modern and sharp, whilst still paying homage to old Venice with gorgeous photos of yesteryear. The menu has had a few changes as well, some that I don't love (the green devil roll used to be my favorite, but they use such little chili oil now I rarely order it; and they no longer have my favorite wakame salad), but some welcomed new ones (oooo that one ramen bowl!). I now find my self here, if not every week, then every other week. Love it!

I made a reservation for 5:30 pm last Saturday. Although the restaurant was still empty, the hostess gave us the worst table in the restaurant. I nicely asked her to get me a better table, but she denied me the opportunity to sit at the other available tables (for two) that were in the Main room. Because of her lack of goodwill, I decided to tell her to get me the table in the Sushi room, because my reservation was for there. She didn't believe, so I had to show her the screenshot from my cellphone to prove it. I go to this restaurant since 2004 when I first lived in Venice. I know the owner Esther since then. The 3 stars I am giving are not for the food or for the way this wonderful lady runs her business, but I find important that she's aware of how some employees can suddenly turn her business into a bad experience, like the one I had that night.

We wrapped a long Saturday at Hama. Did a great job with the sushi and we had lots of sake. A great meal to end a fun day.

Lived in Venice for years. There's MUCH better sushi in LA area AND this place is WAY over-priced for average sushi.

Our server took our order and then seemingly disappeared, showing absolutely no interest in our experience for the remainder of the meal. We ordered a $17 bottle of soju that simply never arrived. Thirty minutes into our meal, I had to flag this down with the server assistant cooking our meat because our actual server apparently couldn't be bothered to check on us. I asked that they either bring the soju and comp it or forget it entirely. Any restaurant with even a modicum of hospitality would have immediately done so. Instead, I got an apology and nothing more. That pretty much sums up the experience: minimal effort, minimal attention, and absolutely no sense of hospitality. The food was decent, but good food does not excuse embarrassingly poor service. Korean BBQ isn't exactly difficult to get right. Good service, apparently, is. There are countless places in Koreatown where you can get better food, better service, and an experience that actually feels worth your money. Save yourself the trouble. Skip this place--you'll be glad you did.

My go to is the Seoul bowl it's so good and perfectly marinated while still being health conscious 5/5. The newer tikka masala has been a fav lately- it's veggie based but the spices and flavor are on point, just as delicious as a non-vegan dish! I think with soy meat it could be even better, I'll see if that's an option next time, but this was 4.5/5. West coast shrimp side is really satisfying and savory. The Thai tea was good, but I paid $31 for entrees that were inaccurate. My pad see ew came with beef instead of chicken and the sweet and sour chicken was completely different than advertised. Their website photo in their ordering platform clearly shows it to be fried chicken with some vegetables and sauce, it came as a few pieces of grilled chicken and was completely different than advertised and not what I ordered or expected based on their pictures.
