I made a reservation for 5:30 pm last Saturday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Although the restaurant was still empty, the hostess gave us the worst table in the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I nicely asked her to get me a better table, but she denied me the opportunity to sit at the other available tables (for two) that were in the Main room. Because of her lack of goodwill, I decided to tell her to get me the table in the Sushi room, because my reservation was for there. She didn't believe, so I had to show her the screenshot from my cellphone to prove it. I go to this restaurant since 2004 when I first lived in Venice. I know the owner Esther since then. The 3 stars I am giving are not for the food or for the way this wonderful lady runs her business, but I find important that she's aware of how some employees can suddenly turn her business into a bad experience, like the one I had that night.

So things have really evolved here over the last 8 years since my first review. There have been major makeovers and changes, including a hidden patio area outside that can be rented for private functions. The walls are modern and sharp, whilst still paying homage to old Venice with gorgeous photos of yesteryear. The menu has had a few changes as well, some that I don't love (the green devil roll used to be my favorite, but they use such little chili oil now I rarely order it; and they no longer have my favorite wakame salad), but some welcomed new ones (oooo that one ramen bowl!). I now find my self here, if not every week, then every other week. Love it!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Patio is mostly indoor with an open roof, it's a fun ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great place to grab a Japanese beer and some small bites off of their happy hour menu.

Still my favorite local spot. The beauty of this institution and Venice staple is that it is family, friendly, as well as a great place to watch sports and get your party on. Hey, be sure to say hello to Logan the GM. He is always down to accommodate, meet new guest, and hang out with us locals. He has reinvented a few things on the menu and always has a great attitude. If you're lucky, Esther will be there. She is a strong woman who watches over her product. A personal mentor and inspiration for me and a gem of a friend to all. Everyone there is quality. Naoko, Steph and Marg to name a few. Enjoy.

Service was great! We sat at the sushi bar and they were very attentive and super nice. I was looking for a place to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and this place did not disappoint!! I'm not a sushi fan myself but I even liked the cucumber roll. My boyfriend enjoyed his crunchy crab roll. Highly recommend!

Favorite sushi spot. Chill. Good food. Sapporo on draft. Sit outside if you can. Endless summer on loop above the bar. Reasonably priced.

Service was super sweet and took care of us so well. We ordered the crispy chicken karaage, spicy miso ramen, and an unsweetened green tea. The karaage was aggressively crispy, almost more crunch than chicken, but still good with the mayo sauce. The real highlight was the ramen. The broth was so rich and comforting with the option to add more spice powder and crispy garlic. Left full, warm, and happy

Overall, it was a good experience however the Ramen itself wasn't as flavorful as some others that I've had and I felt the noodles were a bit too chewy. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out pretty fast. There is a large free parking lot attached in back so parking was really easy. Inside is pretty small so there may be a wait if it's crowded but also many people seem to get to go orders. For this visit, I chose the Spicy Miso Soup Butter Corn and added a side of beef, which I enjoyed. Ramen is always a comfort meal to me so it did hit the spot on a cold night. It was a nice dinner and I would recommend however it is not my favorite ramen in Los Angeles.

We were lucky to find a metered parking that already had money in it, yay! There are a bunch of eateries on this street as well. It's a small restaurant inside, but more space outside. Not that busy at all, there were only 2 other parties dining at the same time as us during prime dinner time. I saw they were running a Demon Slayer promotion and I wanted the free spoon haha. So I ordered the Tokyo Yatai Ramen and my friend ordered the Birria Ramen. The waiter or owner(?) who talk our order was also very nice! Very quick and efficient with our order. It didn't take too long for our ramen to be prepared. First glance, it doesn't look like your traditional ramen. It actually looks more Chinese style ramen. Especially the noodles? The texture is not quite the same as traditional ramen shops (and I have been to Japan). The ramen bowl itself was pretty simple, strong flavors from the chicken broth, the pork itself was pretty alright. It's honestly pretty standard but does not have a Japanese feel to it. I tried my friend's Birria Ramen and it's literally tastes like a taco in a bowl haha, which is pretty accurate. So even my Chinese friend likes the birria ramen because it reminds of her this Chinese instant noodle she always has lol. So I guess meaning in a good and bad way, but she still enjoyed it. Overall, the whole experience was not bad. I do only see JINYA in the more 'whiter' communities, so I find this to be not very authentic Japanese ramen. Also it's pricy for what it is when I can get an authentic bowl for $16.

I ordered their special Daikoku Ramen with extra chashu pork, and it was satisfying. I went inside to pick up the order -- though I wasn't totally sure how their curbside setup worked since no one came out to us. Food: Good, but nothing spectacular. The daikoku ramen was a bit too salty for my taste. The chicken teriyaki was yummy, and the salad was tasty. Service (1 star): It was a busy night, which I get. But two servers were working and neither acknowledged me -- no eye contact, nothing. After waiting a few minutes (my order was already ready), I approached the male server myself and gave my name. He grabbed the bag and handed it to me without a word. No hi, no thank you, not even a smile. For a pickup order, that's a pretty low bar to miss.
