I know five stars is a lot, but this is an incredible smashed burger. The beef is impeccable a triple is sounds ridiculous but it's not. They're very thin patties and the Hamby sauce and the homemade pickles are just great. I'm not sure why this place has a lower rating. Burgers were great, a little on the more expensive side but not bad. A double is probably equal to a quarter pounder, and was perfectly filling. Fries are definitely cut in house and were delicious. My husband enjoyed the games inside. Will definitely return! read more

As frequenters of Cibolo Creek Brewery, we were stoked Hambys came to life. Exceptional ownership, and while my wife and I have only been there 3 times, we've had a solid experience each time. As a boerne resident I want to love this place I really do! The ambience is great the adult beverages are great but this is the third time we've gone where the food is so salty it was barely edible. Two of the burgers were ok but the third was so salty my daughter only made it 1/2 way. The onion strings and fries were room temp, beyond salty and soggy and it was a really busy night. For $50 for four sandwiches, one fry, one onion straw and tea this is really disappointing. The highlight was the grilled chicken sandwich. Our family likes salt and lots of seasoning, we're not the kind who shy away from it but this is overkill. Will take a break before trying again to see if they can get it right. read more

I must have missed the signs that told me to order at the windows outside before going inside to sit. It was not at all what I expected. If I go there again, I would not have the Hamby sauce on the burger. The burger itself was good but the sauce made everything soggy. That being said, the single burger is the perfect size for me. What they describe the french fries is also not what I expected based on that description. I expected shoestring to be very thin. These were not thin, not fat and not crispy. Be careful when paying as when I went on Wednesday April 24 one of the front employees who was working the order register at around 5:30-6:00 added a tip for himself on his own. Be careful as this is the second time it has happened and I guess they think people won't notice but I surely notice when someone is adding money for themselves. I realize based on other's reviews that this will seem heretical. However, while we really like the ambience, we found the burgers greasy and salty, the fries droopy, and the onion rings over-salted. By laying off the salt and crisping up the fries, the food could be on par with the ambience. I don't know where to begin to accurately express how much my family LOVED our first visit to Hamby's. Setting aside the opening of Hamby's here in Boern has been long-awaited, and thus the long lines and the new employees and systems put to the test (which some ignore in their insensitive reviews), our smash burgers were the real thing and ever so tasty! We ordered double patties with all the toppings! My goodness - our burgers could not have been fresher and more appealing! While everyone enjoyed their fries, I relished every bite of my shoestring onion rings - my favorite. Seating is ample for any restaurant of its size, especially when the crowds eventually die down. As to parking, such is the nature of NOT Hamby's but the country flavor of downtown Boerne. Regardless, rarely is parking a problem if you opt for a side street, which we choose to do every time. Believe me, the short walk will do you good after a couple of burgers, fries, and their unforgettable malts! Hamby's has, at long last, made its mark in Boerne. Considering the superior quality of its menu, the friendly employees, and the walk-down-memeory-lane motive, my family and I could not recommend Hamby's any more highly! read more

Wow...what a great addition to Boerne. The smash burgers are excellent and the ingredients all seemed fresh. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The chocolate shake (served in a pilsner glass) was smooth and delightful. Shoelace fries were crisp and not too salty or greasy. The overall ambience of the restaurant is cute and retro. The outside seating is ample and clean. Inside is fun with clever seating, pinball machines with a view of the brewery in the back. Adequate parking in the front and some additional in the back (a little tricky to get to but you'll figure it out). Oh...and the service was QUICK. Our first vist but it won't be our last. read more

Limited menu, burgers chicken sandwich and kids menu, we ordered a burger the employee recommended a double , she said they are smash burgers so kinda small . We order 3 double smash burgers and my little one orders a corn dog . Burgers were ok kinda well done but I guess it's expected with a smash burger ( don't ask for bacon , they don't have it ) , the fries were great ! First visit last weekend around 5:30 p.m. My husband and I were glad to find a table outside as the inside dining area was dark and felt a little stuffy. Just a few people dining inside, everyone else outside. The high prices were a surprise so we ordered two single patty burgers, one bag of onion strings and one (22 oz?) soda - total was just under $20. The burgers were very small and thin but good. Plentiful onion strings but a little overcooked and the excess salt already on them overpowered the onion. Fountain drinks were not the standards. The cola they have tasted pretty good once we got used to it. Young woman at the register was very nice. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. read more

I passed Hambys and circled around the block, excited to try a new burger. I was hoping for a Soda Pops style of burger from days passed, and was severely disappointed. I ordered what they call a double burger with fries and cheap fountain soda for $14 and change, and was rewarded with the absolute worst excuse for a hamburger I have ever wasted money on. I thought I had been given a kids burger - the 2 patties together were thinner than a single patty at Whataburger and would barely register on a scale once burned well done as they were. I was never into the whole mini-burger craze a few years back - maybe its the whole smashed burger concept I don't get. Not sure how one gets the patties that thin, but charred and dried along with limp tomatoes and lettuce make for a waste of money. I didn't go inside, but I'm pretty sure the ambiance and craft beer do not make up for the kitchen. The quality of the food and portions need to be more inline with pricing. read more

I had an extremely uncomfortable experience today at this restaurant. My 3 month old daughter was with me and our family as she is assisted by her service dog for medical needs. We have never had an issue previous to this. Especially when we ate at the restaurant the week before and were told her service dog was more than welcome . But today was a different experience. My family noticed an older lady speaking to another two women and staring down our table. I began to notice and started to pull out our service dogs tag since she wasn't wearing her vest, which is not a requirement. The older lady approached our table and let us know she was actually the owner. She continued to question my babies service dog and why she wasn't in a vest and what we needed the dog for . As I lifted my hand to let her see our service dogs ID so she could scan it she rudely pushed my hand away and interrupted me. She then continued to act as if I was a child or lesser than. I will never step foot back in this establishment nor would I ever recommend for you to take your family. We were rudely judged and disrespected and I cannot believe what I have encounter from and OWNER of the restaurant. read more
