Yummy! I visited this spot last week during the afternoon and it was quite empty. Beautiful nonetheless. The atmosphere was great! Loved the bar area, overall decor, and coziness of the place. PLUS Christmas decorations were up so it made the experience even better! I decided to order the Mexican burger and I LOVED IT. The brisket with the bacon, avocado, bbq, crema, and pico was the perfect combination. I do wish the bacon was a bit less crispy, but other than that it was delicious. Very happy with our order as usual (have ordered more than 50 times from here probably by now). However, similar to other reviews below, service was rude while picking it up. Here's the story: We walked up to the counter, asked for our food (right infront of us), he stopped and said wait (in a rude manner, and this interaction lasted longer than it would have been to just hand me the food next to him), left, came back a minute later and then handed it to me. Whatever, no problem. I understand if you are busy. However, when we didn't say anything and just turned to leave, he said "why do you have to be like that" in a very rude manner again. This made us feel very uncomfortable. We even said "thank you so much" at the end to try to make it a less awkward interaction overall. It was not a great experience at all. My roommate and I came for dinner with a friend who was visiting, and honestly I left with mixed feelings. Roommate got the birria torta which I think was the best thing on the table - the meat was juicy and the consomme was super flavorful. Our friend and I split a two meat sampler. I chose the pork belly burnt ends, which our waiter said was one of his favorite things on the menu, but they were overcooked to the point of being dry and crunchy, so I felt like I had to drown them in BBQ sauce (that being said, I thought the sauces were all really tasty). Friend chose the ribs as our other meat which I thought were much better than the burnt ends. The fries and cornbread were both great, but I found the street corn to be super bland and maybe even a little undercooked. Drinks were good and our waiter was very nice. I've had a few people rave about Hamilton Pork to me and finally came in a couple weeks ago on a whim. I had been craving a good brisket for a while now so my eyes immediately went straight for the brisket and mac & cheese. The brisket was tender, easily pierced through with my fork and when you toss on some of their original bbq sauce, *chefs kiss*. The mac & cheese was rich, melt-in-your-mouth goodness. This was our second time visiting this place. We came here on a Sunday morning because the place next door Hamilton Inn wasn't able to sit 8 of us. We were able to get a table right the way. The host was very friendly and let us sit even though some of our friends were still missing. I shared the chip and guacamole with my husband. It turned out very addictive. I had the brisket huevos benedictos and my husband was able to get it with pork belly. I thought the brisket was very good, which was tender and tasty. Finally tried Hamilton Pork which left me wondering one thing - why haven't I gone sooner? And furthermore, why haven't I gone sooner over summer? Their outdoor patio is one of the best in JC - hanging Edison bulbs, fences lined with potted plants and American flags everywhere . I could probably chill on the back patio for hours. Besides a killer ambiance, the eats were also stellar. We shared brisket nachos, brussels sprouts and fish tacos. The nachos were out of this world - not like traditional nachos that you'd find at a Mexican restaurant but more like smokehouse nachos. They were topped with brisket, guac, queso, beans, crema and jalepenos. The sprouts were sweet and flavorful and came with smoky bacon which is always a plus. The fish in the taco was perfectly fried and crunchy and came with a delicious aioli. They have a very large menu with a ton of tacos, meats, sides, salads and more. There was a bottomless happy hour special happening when we came in which was awesome - five dollar drafts, six dollar wine and 7 dollar margs. I had a few glasses of refreshing rose. Next time I visit I need to make a conscious effort to save room for the churro waffle ice cream sandwich. Given how delicious the food is it'll probably be a tall order. I'm up for the challenge though. Hoping to visit this adorable BBQ restaurant again soon, it really is such a JC gem! read more

Great ambiance and the sides!! First, the whole feel of the place was really cool. If you get a chance check out the back, it has a beer garden feel. I wish I was there at night, because I noticed they have low hanging lights like they have all over Texas. The bathroom itself was experience, with a unique soap to the water tap. If nothing else go there to wash your hands before the meal, you'll appreciate the decor. The food was a hit and miss for me. It was just good. I ordered the trio (brisket, ribs, and sausage) the sausage seemed like it was drained of juice and a bit shriveled and the flavor was too 'grease' even though BBQ should have a lot of fat. The Brisket was good, not amazing, but good. The ribs had little seasoning and had to use a knife a bit... I really enjoyed it the "Pinche Vinger" the vinegar help cut through the fatness of the meat enhancing the flavor. I also had the eggs benedict, I was lucky K was there for brunch. They were amazing! Everything except the bread being a bit burnt (maybe it's suppose to be that way, but black bread is not something I like) ironically the potatoes that come with the dish were perfectly cooked and seasoned, not burnt at all. Side: Baked Beans, Corn Bread, Mac n Cheese. Baked beans came with a film on top as in they were probably sitting in the window a bit before getting served. The flavor was ok. Mac n Cheese was just ok, nothing special. Cornbread! Yes! I don't often eat the cornbread, my wife likes it more, but this cornbread deserves a mention of its own! Definitely try it! read more

I almost always order the same thing whenever I visit or get delivery. I have a half order of baby back ribs with a side of jalapeño cheddar cornbread. While the meat is great and all the real star of the show for me is the kung pow sauce. Seriously...this sauce is ADDICTING and oh so good. My second favorite is the vinegar sauce. First visit was over the summer and it was great. Loved the outdoor seating and service was great. It was a solid four stars and was excited to go back today. We went for brunch and got there shortly after 11 and were the only ones there. Got two cocktails which was great, and ordered the Benedict which was really good and the burrito which was disappointing because the brisket was so dry, but the rest was good enough and actually tasty after you picked out the meat. Love the vibe, very cute inside. Everyone wore masks except the waiter who served us which I thought was really odd. It made me very uncomfortable but he put it on later when we asked for our checks. In this environment, I just think it's weird that the only customer facing person is going around being very social with everyone and unmasked, while every other staff member was wearing one. We finally went to visit after being on my go to list for a long time. We came on a nice Friday afternoon so we made reservations. We came 15 minutes early and asked to see if we can be seated but was fine to wait. The lady just looked as us and grunted. We were seated outside since it was a nice day. Appetizer we ordered the buns and 2 burgers, fish and lamb, for the main courses, 2 glasses of white wines. Buns and burgers were all well made. The side fries were slightly chard more than I'd like. I respect their menu and usually opt for the wings which are smothered in a teriyaki sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds. I'm weird with my meat and I prefer chicken breast/white meat just for overall taste.... If you're into margaritas, Hamilton Pork is your spot. With flavors like spicy jalapeño, watermelon, and mango with tajin rim you might want to get an Uber home! On the rocks OR frozen is a win-win, not many places make both... The barbeque is pretty good, not the best, but do NOT order the French fries unless you like thin, burnt up sticks than look and taste more like kindling than decent fries. One of my dishes needed a fork to eat. I asked my waiter to provide one, but he never brought one. So I asked another waiter, but they too never brought one. It happens that I was sitting close to another customer and we had been talking. As they were leaving, one of them got a fork from the bar and brought it out to me. I love the design of this restaurant, they did such a great job! The only downside to the atmosphere can be a lot of families dining with small children, but it is Hamilton park neighborhood and I do like to eat early, so later eaters can probably avoid this issue. The Hamilton Inn is a favorite of mine, and I see a lot of good things from the first restaurant carried over in Hamilton Pork; good service comes to mind in particular. I have been to dinner twice but have not had brunch yet at Hamilton Pork. Unfortunately, I find the non-meat options to be very small portions and not that great. While there are a decent number of options for pescatarians and vegetarians on the menu (especially for a BBQ restaurant), I've only had two things here that I liked and would order again: Shrimp Taco - Very small portion and not worth $5. The filling to taco ratio is very out of whack, you are mostly just tasting the corn taco. Avocado Taco - good, not worth $5, more filling than the shrimp taco. Brussel sprout taco - a unique combination that I really liked (CORN, SPICY SLAW, CREMA, SALSA VERDE). Mac and cheese - $9 the consistency was watery and that was a big turn off. Actual flavor was a little bland, but even so it was still better than some of the fake cheese tasting mac and cheese sides served at a lot of BBQ restaurants. I would not reorder this dish. Shrimp Tostada - The tostadas are the way to go for non-meat eaters. While they are $2 more expensive than a taco, I found them to be more filling. If you don't eat meat you have to ask for the tostadas without the beans, which have pork in them. In terms of the meat, the first time we ate here my guy really liked his meat combo, even thought it was better than average. On our second visit he said it was not as good as the first visit. Usually I automatically give four stars to any BBQ restaurant that has anything editable on the menu for a non-meat eater, so my review may be a little harsh, but there is good intention behind it. I feel like with a little tweaking in price point or serving size, Hamilton Pork could be as beloved by me as the Inn is. As the menu currently stands I just don't see coming back, unless to try brunch, to booze, or maybe try one of the salads. read more

This is one my favorite spots in JC! Portions are great!!! We always get the meat sampler and go nuts with sides. I've always shared the sampler with another person bec. there's a lot so it's totally worth it!! Meats are juicy and not dry. BBQ has arrived in Hamilton Park and it's a welcome addition. A group of 3 went for dinner on Friday night. We used Yelp reservations and they didn't seem to have our reservation which was a bit strange. We had to wait for a bit so we grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered a cocktail. I tried the grande cucumber - delicious, refreshing - and it made me wistful for the beach as it's a perfect summer drink. Place has a cool ambiance w/wooden booths, exposed brick, and cool BBQ decor. A con is that the place is LOUD. You won't be able to hear your conversation. We tried the nachos w/brisket ($14) - hands down the best sort of nachos out there. Amazing smoked brisket a top amazing guac and chips. Why don't all nachos come w/brisket? We got the meat sampler (brisket, ribs, and chicken) for $21 for our entree. For $21, you get to choose 3 of all of the meats they have including ribs, pork belly, etc. Brisket - again - was well cooked, seasoned, flavorful with the right amount of smoke. The chicken was good but the brisket, again, was the standout. It wasn't a huge portion of meat especially if you are sharing w/a group. We also got the sauteed kale ($8), mac n cheese ($9), and cornbread ($5). Very good sides, though, none were standout and the kale was a bit greasy. It's not cheap but when is BBQ ever cheap. It was a good meal and I'm very glad to have a BBQ spot in the neighborhood - definitely will be making a return visit in the future especially to try that churro ice cream sandwich! read more

I went at the recommendation of a friend on a Monday night around 8PM and the place was pretty empty. The place is super spacious and is way bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. The menu is relatively simple. My recommendation is to get a mix of foods from each different "bucket." Meats: Brisket/Pulled Pork - Unimpressed with the BBQ. Too dry and not very flavorful. It wasn't bad but since this was the main course, I was a little disappointed. Luckily there were lots of sauces available to add some flavor to the meat. Sides: Cucumber Salad/Spicy Slaw - You always need some veggies with your meat. The cucumber salad was great. The spicy slaw was alright - a little too soggy. Shares: Loaded Mac & Cheese with Brisket - Fan favorite. There was a LOT of brisket (3 large pieces) over deliciously warm and cheesy mac 'n cheese. You can easily eat this as a main dish + a side. Dessert: Maple Pecan Bread Pudding - Another fan favorite. This was actually what we came for. This bread pudding is unreal. Soft, fluffy, warm, not too sweet, and topped with some ice cream. Great way to finish off a salty meal. Honestly, I would come back just for the mac & cheese and bread pudding. Don't know how I felt about this place. Was recommended by a friend & decided to go out on a Friday night. It was slow so tables were open. The interior of the restaurant is a little weird. Majority of tables are near the door so when you open the door on a cold night, the breeze comes right in on your table. That was a little annoying. Server was sweet, for a dead night , she ended up messing up our drink order and entree, but she apologized and they fixed it. We ordered the meat sampler and the half ribs with Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was OK, it was obvious that it was made earlier that morning and microwaved. The whole meal came out luke warm. The meats were dry. They were completely nuked in the microwave.
