We have been coming to this place 'for many years' and have seen several owners & name changes over those many years. The quality has steadily deteriorated a little bit more, each & every month over the last 3 years. We do understand that good help is hard to find, but come on folks; you have to be aware of what's going on around you and see what's happening. To raise prices up to this high level at the same time that the food quality and customer experience is rapidly dropping is just plain old wrong. Great service and a clean comfortable atmosphere, but the best part is the over the top food. This kitchen is putting out some serious fresh food not just buy and fry bar food. Try the pork chop at least once, but then venture on to other Awesome items on the menu. My go to spot for great food and a fun casual atmosphere. It's been a year since we have been here as we vacation here . I was even more impressed this time . We had a large group of seven & every meal was great . The majority of us enjoyed the House pork chop which was brined , had a great choice of sides & salad . Everyone's chop was cooked to perfection ! My wife enjoyed the coconut shrimp , which also was great ! The servers were all busy , yet friendly & attentive . Not sure what was better the food or the service. I stopped by for a quick early dinner. I was greeted by a very pleasant server who said I could sit anywhere. Since it was barely 5:30 most of the tables were open. Although the menu is not very large there are enough options that most could find something they like. In addition they offered two dinner selections. I decided to order the 12oz Ribeye Steak. It came with a side salad. The salad was incredibly fresh and topped with a delicious homemade balsamic vinaigrette. It was excellent. Next my steak was served with steak fries and some mixed veggies. I ordered my steak medium and it was cooked perfectly. There was so much flavor on this steak. It was absolutely delicious. The steak fries were also delicious while the mixed veggies were just ok. After I finished my delicious dinner the server brought me over some vanilla cake topped with chocolate mousse. I didn't ask for this order it, she just said it comes with your dinner. It too was homemade and delicious. I highly recommend the Hammered Steel Tavern and will definitely return. Some of the best food you can find in the area. read more

Wow! What a find! This place was recommended my our waiter the previous night so we went to check it out. (1-15-23) Nice, clean and big bar with around 12 tables to dine at. We had the garlic/parmesan wings to start with and they were terrific! Definitely in my top 5 wing places!! Dinner was;1) Ribeye (Cooked to temperature and seasoned so darn well!) came with rice pilaf (10!) and broccoli medley which was the weak point of the meal(4 out of 10) But who cares?!?! It's only veggies and such a small part of the meal! 2) Pork chop. (Juicy and very flavorful!) 3) Cheeseburgers. Great flavor (cooked on a grill?) and the fries that came with them were delicious! I am giving it one star because negative 10 isn't an option . This was hands down one of the most disgusting restaurants I've ever been too. The black table clothes were stained and smelt horrible, looks like they don't even get washed. Every bartender and server had an attitude and I heard one of the bartender's talking badly about what seemed to be like another employee. I ordered the hammered steel burger and a bacon cheeseburger I've gotten these take out before and they were great, I get them medium rare but this time the meat was very fatty and definitely a lesser quality than before, I was embarrassed because I brought friends and would brag about the burgers but they were so bad I wouldn't even feed them to my dogs. A lady with long dark hair and glasses who I believe was the barmaid was absolutely horrible, she got annoyed anytime I asked for something and would end up not bringing it to me at all. We didn't order food. We sat at the bar for at least 10 minutes before she took our drink order. Waited another 10 minutes and never got drinks. There were only 4 people at the bar and 2 tables with customers in the whole place. Not sure why we were never served even after another couple came in after us and she took their order for food & drinks and they went out front on the patio. We were the only people on the restaurant for dinner. No biggie. Service was good! I ordered a filet MR and what came out was 3 thin slices of shoe leather with a heap of potatoes that took up the plate. I couldn't eat it and refused to take it home for my dogs. We stumbled on this unbelievably good restaurant on our way home from visiting Penn State. Our server was Sammy, who is a delight. It's Father's Day so there was a surf and turf special and it did not disappoint. Everything we ate was homemade, including the bread, the salad dressing and the dessert. The meat was cooked sous vide, the seafood was tender and yummy. This is truly a hidden gem. These people really know how to make good sauces on their food! Quick stop off the exit. Bar gave me a locals vibe and the waitress was really friendly and efficient! I had the Asian chicken sandwich- not something I typically would get - completely blew my hair back! It's a must try! Excellent ranch. Excellent bbq sauce.
